Heeere's Johnny!! Yes the Popcorn Society horror train continues as we take a closer and cautious look at the classic film from 1980 starring Jack Nicholson. Try not to lose your mind in this episode of THE SHINING!
Heeere's, Johnny!Everyone knows author Stephen King. And while I have read many of his books, purely based on my age, I saw the movies adaptations long before I started reading his novels. It is crazy how quickly Hollywood caught on to his work. His first novel was Carrie, published in 1974 - resulting in his first movie treatment just two years later - followed by the TV mini-series Salem's Lot in 1979. That one gave me nightmares for years! From this point on, King's published works we almost instantly optioned to Hollywood. In fact, once the 80's had arrived, there was a movie or TV adaptation every year except 1981 and 1988! It has pretty much remained like this all the way through 2024, with new projects dropping later this year and in 2025. There has been a major appetite for King's work, in both the literary & film worlds. This episode is just about the 70s & 80s entries, with plenty of future material to cover!
Heeere they come again: The wrecking crew of Alito, Barrett, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Roberts & Thomas – the six plutocratic judicial supremacists determined to force their personal political biases on all of us.

When you think of impressionists, you might picture the impresarios on SNL, or the wide array of Elvises with a Vegas residency. But have you ever wondered about who laid the groundwork for those performers to make their living lampooning celebrities? If you have, then you're in luck - because if a couple of guys made a podcast about one of the very first nationally celebrated impressionists, it would probably sound a little something like this… Rob teaches Ray about Rich Little's long career, from his humble beginnings as a kid with a love for doing voices to his one-time stint as host of the White House Correspondents' Dinner; why it's probably a bad idea to make a sex tape and then give it to your mother-in-law; how to play one-sided Charades; and why even established celebrities should probably pivot if they want to maintain their relevance. “Heeere's Johnny!” To continue our month of spooky cinema we decided to cover a classic psychological thriller with so many interpretations it's like discussing the end of Inception. It's time to review Stanley Kubrick's highly acclaimed “The Shining”! Come along as we discuss the terrifying events at the Overlook Hotel. We will be discussing the tense soundtrack, the set design, the hardcore acting, hidden messages, and of course the comparison to the original Stephen King novel. It sounds like a lot but we promise to keep it fun as we dig into the details! We'd hate for this to be all work and no play. Today we continue breaking down strengths reports of people who belong to Eddie’s private community. We then talk specifics about their top 10 strengths, turn it into a lesson, and give you a call to action. Today’s example is a man who has Discipline, Analytical, and Input in his top 10 strengths, with Woo, Competition, and Adaptability in his bottom strengths. We talk about how this means that he achieves emotional and physical balance by making his plans for the future, and enjoys contributing and getting things done without having it be about him. We use his strengths as an example for us -- that just as water can change the shape of the earth by consistently flowing, we too can make a difference by being constant. -Strengths Report 3:20-Today’s Lesson: Flow Like Water 11:37-What Having 4 Executing and 5 Strategic Thinking Strengths in Your Top 10 Means 15:33-Consistency for Permanent Results 19:38“Think about the things that you want to get done, the big impact that you want to make on the world, my brother. Think about that. And understand that you’re not going to make the big impact on the world by bursting in the door and going, “I’m Heeere!” No. You’re gonna make a big difference in the world by opening the door every day, and showing up every day.” 14:29http://www.eddiepvilla.com/unleashyourstrengthsSaturday Show: https://www.facebook.com/growwitheddieEddie's Services: https://www.eddiepvilla.com/servicesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/unleash_your_strengths/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eddie.p.villahttps://www.gallupstrengthscenter.com/
