Between 1914-1916, Portugal walked a delicate line. While actively engaged in an undeclared war with Germany in Africa, Portugal was not a combatant in Europe, nor did it officially declare neutrality. It stayed out of the war, but it provided support in a variety of ways to Britain – its historical ally. Britain hoped to maintain this arrangement for the duration of the war. In contrast, the Portuguese government was anxious to join the war. In March 1916, it got its way. By 1917, the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps (CEP) was fighting in France. In the decades after WWI, the dominant trend in scholarship was to view the CEP as incapable and even cowardly. More recent scholarship provides a more balanced picture of the CEP. To further explore Portugal and the CEP in WWI the World War I Podcast hosted Dr. Jesse Pyles, an expert on the CEP. History Nerds UnitedLet's make history fun again! His counselor tried to direct this rather unhealthy obsession into something positive, but ultimately Jake lived and breathed guns. As he got older, he found a new interest - the intel subculture. Though her records indicated she was only six years old, the family began finding red flag after red flag indicating that she may be older. Much older. Adult age even. The situation resolved when Natalia was abandoned in an apartment by the Barnetts - or so the family thought. In May 1984, Murfreesboro, Tennessee was shaken by the brutal murder of Laura Salmon. At the time, Laura was an 18-year-old college student attending Middle Tennessee State University. Her murder shocked the community and left investigators with plenty of circumstantial evidence but not much hard proof. The case remained unsolved for over sixteen years until new DNA evidence led to the arrest and conviction of their prime suspect. The murder of Laura Salmon remains a tragic reminder of the impact of dating violence on individuals and communities, and a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement to bring justice to victims and their families.History Nerds UnitedLet's make history fun again! Bradford Bishop was one sharp dude, earning multiple masters degrees, becoming fluent in five languages, and earning a prestigious job at the US State Department. But then things started not going his way. Bradford was not the sort to let this happen, so he did what any reasonable adult would do: he killed his entire family and went on the run. Between 1978 and 1996 eight infant abductions were connected to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. All the children were black and the average age of their mothers was just 18. Six of the infants were found safe and well and returned to their families. Two of the babies remain missing. Raymond Lamar Green was abducted in November 1978 and Tavish Sutton in March 1993. Their abductors were never traced and there is a good chance that both men are now living their lives completely oblivious to their true identities.Become a supporter of the show!Sources: For a full list of sources please see the Facebook page.Newspapers.comAtlanta Constitution10/11/7815/10/8107/09/8115/09/8116/09/8207/09/8910/03/9317/03/9320/03/9315/04/9327/06/9302/02/9528/06/9603/01/9823/10/9916/11/2018 missingkids.orghttps://www.missingkids.org › blogSearch for Abducted Atlanta Baby Goes NationwideFOX 5 Atlantahttps://www.fox5atlanta.com › newsNew artist renders could help 45-year-old kidnapping of Georgia newbornSurviving Parents Coalitionhttp://www.spcoalition.org › greenDonna GreenThe Charley Projecthttps://charleyproject.org › case › ra...Raymond Lamar Green Jr.Atlanta News Firsthttps://www.atlantanewsfirst.com › ...Officials announce new efforts to find Atlanta infant missing since 1978GulfLive.comhttps://www.gulflive.com › 2023/02Unique method being used to try and solve 44-year-old missing child caseThe Charley Projecthttps://charleyproject.org › case › ta...Tavish SuttonLipstick Alleyhttps://www.lipstickalley.com › the-...The Abduction of Tavish Suttonqaafqalam.comhttps://www.qaafqalam.com › ReadMysterious Disappearances Of Tavish SuttonThe Doe Networkhttps://www.doenetwork.org › cases634DMGA - Tavish SuttonNational Missing Person Directoryhttp://www.missingin.org › reg3675Tavish Sutton - Georgia Missing Person Directoryhttps://georgiastatesignal.com/where-are-they-going-where-have-they-been/History Nerds UnitedLet's make history fun again! In March 2011, a horrific crime occurred at the Lululemon store in Bethesda, Maryland. Two men attacked the two closing female employees, killing one and leaving the other one broken from a physical, sexual, and psychological assault. The crime scene was draped in blood and carnage. The survivor was able to recount some details, but was too shaken to be a significant source of information. Shockingly, the next door Apple Store employees heard the attacks and did nothing to help. Over eight days, detectives worked tirelessly before finally breaking the case open.
