Jason Schappert grew up in an entrepreneurial family. His Mom and Dad were always working together, and never had jobs. Jason's first job was working for his parents pest control company, where he crafted his understanding of what success looked like. Outside of tech, he is married with 3 kids, and is very into all of their sports. Fun fact, his kids enjoy doing their homeschooling in the office with their Dad, listening to calls and asking big questions - so business is actually what they do for fun.For 16 years, Jason grew and ran a business in aviation. After a successful exit, he and his wife Magda were considering what to do next. She quickly remembered all of the things Jason did behind the scenes to setup their personal finances for success, in the midst of a chaotic startup life. This is the creation story of Moola.SponsorsSpeakeasyQA WolfSnapTradeLinkshttps://moo.la/https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonschappert/Our Sponsors:* Check out Kinsta: https://kinsta.com* Check out Vanta: https://vanta.com/CODESTORYSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/code-story/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Send us a textAlright, if you've ever felt stuck in overthinking mode, this one's for you. My guest today is Jason Schappert, a guy who went from teaching people how to fly to building a thriving online business without a fancy business plan or a pile of investor cash.Jason and his wife bootstrapped one of the biggest FAA test prep platforms from scratch, and here's the kicker—he started with just 8 lessons and figured the rest out as he went. In this episode, Jason breaks down how he turned a niche business into a massive success, the biggest lessons from wearing all the hats as a solopreneur, and why perfection is the enemy of progress. If you're an entrepreneur, content creator, or someone who's been waiting for the 'right time' to start—this is your sign.In this episode, Jason breaks down:✅ How to start BEFORE you're ready (perfection is the enemy of progress!)✅ What it really takes to scale a business—from wearing all the hats to building a team✅ The power of consistent action (big wins come from small, daily moves)Big Takeaways from Jason:-"You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going."-"Behind the scenes, business is messy. But that's where the real magic happens."-"If you wait for perfect, you'll never start. Just hit the ball in one more time and keep going."Follow Jason at @moola_copilot on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook for more insights on investing, saving, and building smart financial habits.Want to take control of your finances? Failures can feel crushing in the moment, but they often lead to the greatest growth. Staying motivated when everything seems to be working against you comes down to focusing on small wins, adapting when necessary, and keeping your purpose clear. The people you surround yourself with can either lift you up or hold you back, making it crucial to have the right support. Success isn't about avoiding challenges—it's about using them as stepping stones to something greater.Jason Schappert is an accomplished entrepreneur and aviation enthusiast. He started his journey in the pest control business, but his father encouraged him to aim higher. Jason discovered his passion for aviation and pursued his pilot's license, facing challenges along the way. Today, Jason talks about his entrepreneurial career, sharing insights on overcoming failures, building resilience, and balancing work and family life. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond!Quotes: “In every adversity, there's the seed of a greater advantage. If you approach each adversity thinking, ‘Alright, this stinks and I wouldn't choose it, but there's an advantage here,' then you can determine to find that advantage and keep working until you do.” –Jason Schappert“It's all about working smarter, not necessarily harder. As men, we sometimes want to carry the whole family on our backs and get everyone across the finish line. However, that's not always the smartest way to do it.” –Jason Schappert“Not everybody's meant to stay in your life forever. Some are just there for a season.” –Jason Schappert“We want good mentors, as many as possible, around these young men. Their parents are the first primary mentors, ideally always.” –Matt BeaudreauTakeaways:Embrace a growth mindset and be willing to pivot when faced with challenges. Recognize that setbacks can often lead to greater opportunities.Prioritize building a strong support network and surround yourself with people who believe in your vision and can provide constructive feedback.Allocate time intentionally to nurture your personal relationships and family life, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.Identify your unique strengths and find ways to leverage them to create the greatest impact, whether in your career or entrepreneurial pursuits.Continuously invest in your own personal and financial education, staying proactive in developing the skills and knowledge needed to achieve your goals. Conclusion:Finding meaningful success comes from recognizing progress, building a strong support system, and leaning into personal strengths. Small victories lay the foundation for confidence and resilience, making challenges easier to overcome. The right environment and mindset can turn setbacks into learning experiences rather than roadblocks. With consistency and self-awareness, both personal and professional growth become natural outcomes.

I recently sent you two memos about our need for positive hope.“Hollywood's Broken Angel” was the true story of a woman who desperately needed a friend to encourage her.“Hope and a Future” explained how easy it is to recharge the emotional batteries of a friend whose light has dimmed.Positive hope crackles with the vibrant energy of life itself. It radiates honesty, openness, forgiveness, acceptance, optimism, loyalty and love.Positive hope illuminates the heart and drives away the darkness. But there is also such a thing as negative hope. It promises salvation but delivers only hubris, which is desperation disguised as confidence.Negative hope is attractive, addictive, and cruel.Gamblers sitting around a poker table are the perfect portrait of negative hope. They ride a rollercoaster of elation and despair but tell themselves they have a system.A second portrait of negative hope is a lottery ticket, a receipt issued by the government to citizens who pay a voluntary tax because they believe in lucky numbers and are extremely bad at math.Bernie Madoff was a salesman of negative hope. He wore the mask of a self-made billionaire, but behind that mask was a desperate little con man who stole money from innocent people who believed they had been admitted into the inner circle of a genius who had a secret system. The world is full of elegant and attractive people who sell negative hope. One of them will sell you a worthless education by promising you a better-paying job. Another will sell you a garage full of crap by convincing you of the miracle of multilevel marketing. A third will sell you the promise of inner peace by convincing you they have it, and that it can be transferred to you for money.Negative hope is attractive, but you can easily recognize it now that you know what to look for.I'm really glad we got that out of the way because now I've got some great news for you: inner peace is real. And here's some even better news: you can have it for free, no strings attached.Inner peace is honesty, openness, forgiveness, acceptance, optimism, loyalty and love. All of these can be yours for free. But first you have to give them away.It is a simple but fascinating system. The more you give these 7 things to others, the more richly they accumulate in you.Five hundred and eleven Christmases have come and gone since Giovanni Giocondo sent his Christmas letter to a friend in 1513. It said, “No peace lies in the future that is not hidden in this present little instant. Take peace!”Likewise, I say to you, inner peace is hidden in this present little instant.Reach out and take it. It's yours.Roy H. WilliamsWhen roving reporter Rotbart was a financial columnist with The Wall Street Journal, he met a young man named Steve Jobs who left a lasting impression on him. “When I spoke with Jason Schappert,” Rotbart says, “it felt like I was talking with Steve Jobs again.” Jason Schappert recently launched an AI-powered investment platform for middle-class consumers, providing the same insights and tools typically reserved for the ultra-rich. Today you have an opportunity to learn from Jason Schappert about how to identify opportunities, make bold decisions, and leverage your passion as roving reporter Rotbart meets with him at MondayMorningRadio.com
Jason Schappert reminds founding host Dean Rotbart of a young Steve Jobs, Apple's co-founder, who Dean met and wrote about when he was a financial columnist with The Wall Street Journal. Like Jobs, Jason is dynamic, a visionary, and at only 36 years old, well along the fast track to success. Jason and his wife, Magda, built an aviation education company, MzeroA, and sold it for an impressive 8-figure sum. As an encore, the couple recently launched an AI-driven investment platform — Moola — directed at middle-class consumers, providing the same insights and tools typically reserved for the rich and ultra-rich. Jason knows what it takes to build a business from scratch, scale it, and — when the time is right — exit profitably. Sit back and take notes as Jason offers a clinic on ways to leverage passion, identify opportunities, and make bold decisions. My next guest has faced his fair share of challenges within the aviation industry. He had dreams of joining the US Airforce at a young age but due to his height, standing 6'4”, he wasn't accepted. He also failed out of aviation college or was asked to leave 3 times but that didn't stop him . Raised by entrepreneurs, he was 100% driven to create a business of his own. Although college wasn't for him, he still obtained the necessary certifications to fly and he found instructing others to fly, to be his passion. In this episode, he breaks down the process of transitioning from a service business model to a leveraged income model. As of today, he has a company of over 30 employees and has helped over 20,000 customers in the aviation industry. Please welcome Jason Schappert. Finally we learn from others mistakes. Weekly weather. Next week MzeroA’s Jason Schappert joins the podcast. We've moved Command Center Alpha to the flight line at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, FL to discuss aviation with Mark Baker from AOPA, Steveo1kinevo, Jason Schappert from MzeroA, John 'Lites' Leenhouts from Sun 'n Fun and my co-pilot Captain Eric.
This week's show features Jason Schappert of MzeroA.com. As pilots around the world know, Jason Schappert is a CFII and ATP rated pilot. He is the founder of MzeroA.com, and author of eight aviation flight training books. In 2008, Jason was named AOPA's Top Collegiate Flight Instructor, which was followed by being named an Outstanding Flight Instructor in both 2014 and 2015. Having amassed over 8000 hours of in-flight instruction since learning how to fly, he now provides help to many through his Online Ground School at mzeroa.com. What you will learn from Jason is how his values, business acumen, and focus on helping to create safer pilots translate to success! You're going to love this episode!!! In the hangar talk segment, Al and Marc talked about a topic that seems to have come too early this year. That topic is cold weather flight preparation. The guys talked about: Tips for getting the engine warmed prior to start. Required items for the cockpit. What's wrong with a 50 foot extension cord. Winter Flying Hacks. Congratulations to our Avgeek of the Week! @waddlebus @waddlebus correctly answered our Instagram post asking for what TKS stands for. @waddlebus knew that the popular de-icing fluid's name came from the three companies that invented the fluid during WWII. That being Tecalemit - Killfrost - Sheepbridge. Their formula lowers the freezing point of water and has helped to provide greater utility for aircraft around the world.
