It's time to get off the trauma train…. But how!? Today, in our final (for now) episode with Stephanie Therapy, we dive into “I'm not healed enough yet” to “wait… what if I'm allowed to just enjoy my life RIGHT now?”. We chat when healing becomes a cage (and what to do about it), as well as becoming addicted to the healing journey vs. forgetting there is so much more to life. We chat victim mode, complex trauma, CPTSD and why sometimes - to truly end the cycle - healing has to leave the therapy room, go into the body, and then you can go back into the world a little more you. We discuss why outgoing people is normal, what ‘healed enough' really looks like' and how to move from backward looking to forward focused. Remember - you are not broken. You were never put on this earth just to heal. You are allowed to live - and you will get there.

Our current mental-health and wellness systems are outdated, fragmented, and often disconnected from how the body actually heals. That's why this conversation is essential.I'm joined by Diamond King, a Sound Therapist and hypnotherapist who is redefining what holistic therapy truly means. Diamond's work shows that sound isn't just “relaxing” it's an evolved therapeutic tool that the body automatically responds to on a physiological, emotional, and subconscious level.Sound therapy shifts the brain from high-alert beta waves into the deeply restorative theta state, where clarity, release, and real transformation take place. Research shows that specific frequencies can regulate cortisol, balance the nervous system, improve sleep, boost cognitive function, and even enhance emotional processing.Through her sound journeys, realignment coaching, and decade of teaching worldwide, Diamond helps people soften their system, dissolve stored tension, and return to presence. She reminds us that stillness isn't silence it's structure, the architecture where healing finally has room to land.If you've felt overwhelmed, overstimulated, or disconnected from yourself… This is the episode your nervous system has been waiting for.Click here to Connect With Diamond King https://bio.site/therealdiamondkingClick here For all things mentioned—and all things Zen Effect Tune in live on WBNC Tuesdays at 6pm EST, also linked above.

Having some alone time or solitude is good for us. But we were not meant to be alone. Talking about things is therapeutic.
In this episode of Integrative You Radio, Dr. Nicole Rivera and Dr. Nick Carruthers dive deep into why traditional talk therapy might not be working for many people—and how a higher level of self-awareness, accountability, and growth-focused questioning can create real transformation. They explore the importance of working with mentors and therapists who have actually achieved the level of consciousness and balance you're striving for, and why simply feeling “good” after a session isn't the metric for true progress. The conversation is raw, honest, and sprinkled with truth bombs about empowerment, breaking the victim cycle, and raising your standards for personal growth. #TalkTherapy #PersonalGrowth #SelfAwareness #Accountability #VictimToVictor #TherapyRevolution #EmotionalIntelligence #ConsciousLiving #MindsetShift #IntegrativeYou #LimitlessLiving #Empowerment #BreakthroughExperience #QuantumHealing 3 Key Takeaways: Therapy Isn't One-Size-Fits-All: Not all therapists (or coaches, doctors, or mentors) are equipped to take you where you want to go. If your sessions feel too harmonious or validating, it might be time to seek out someone who challenges you and asks the tough questions that spark real growth. Accountability Over Victimhood: True transformation happens when you stop blaming external circumstances and start recognizing yourself as the common denominator in your challenges. Empowerment comes from shifting from victim to victor. Growth Requires Discomfort: If therapy is just a feel-good story hour, you're missing out. The best breakthroughs come from being challenged, facing your limiting beliefs, and working with someone who's already walked the path you want to travel. Quotes: “The only thing you can control is yourself in the present moment. As soon as you move from victim to victor, that's where the magic happens.” “If your therapist is validating your story and not willing to say you are the common denominator in your problems, they're not doing their job.” Find Integrative You Radio On: Website Youtube Apple Spotify 2 Doctors Committed to Innovating the Healthcare Experience. She brings a deep respect for the body's innate wisdom and its ability to guide the healing process. Her approach is holistic, integrating knowledge from functional and integrative medicine with practices such as mindfulness, EMDR, and Brainspotting. Mary's training in Donna Eden's Energy Medicine (EEM) has expanded her ability to support clients who may not respond to conventional talk therapy. She has successfully used EEM in a wide range of contexts—including cancer treatment support, infertility, organ transplant recovery, digestive issues, and chronic pain. It has proven especially effective for individuals who are either reluctant to discuss their challenges or who are too anxious or dysregulated to benefit from traditional therapeutic approaches. Providing adjunct energy work is one of Mary's greatest passions. In this role, she focuses on addressing trauma and areas where clients feel stuck, while their primary therapist continues to support other aspects of their healing journey. You've been in therapy. You've talked through your career. You understand, logically, that your boss's mood isn't your responsibility, that your worth isn't measured by productivity, and that burnout doesn't mean you're broken. And yet… you're still panicking every time Outlook pings. You're still second-guessing every boundary. You're still bracing for impact. For many lawyers, this is the point where talk therapy hits a wall. You've intellectually processed the stress, but your body hasn't caught up. That disconnect between what you know and how you feel isn't a failure. It's a signal.See show notes at formerlawyer.com/282

In this episode, Jess and Karli dive deep into the topic of therapy. They reflect on their own experiences, sharing how traditional talk therapy served them for a time, but eventually led them to explore other modalities like EMDR and NET. They break down what those therapies are, what the process actually looks like, and how they've helped reprocess negative memories and shift long-held emotional patterns. Therapy is such a personal journey, but we hope this episode offers a helpful glimpse into what to expect if you're considering different approaches as well as a reminder that healing looks different for everyone. Please note: We are not licensed therapists. While they may appear to manage their mental health challenges well, statistics tell a different story.Several factors contribute to men's reluctance to pursue counseling, including cultural and societal norms, issues related to masculinity, and fear of the unknown. However, research shows that the benefits of talk therapy far outweigh the difficulties of dealing with anxiety, stress, grief, or depression on one's own.Going to therapy is much like going to the gym: to get stronger, individuals need a coach, commitment, and a bit of discomfort to maximize their goals. As a paramedic, Rachel spent many years supporting others through medical and mental health emergencies. And although she was trained to recognise the signs of mental ill health in others, it was something she never imagined she would experience herself - that is, until she fell pregnant. Known for being someone who doesn't cry, Rachel was unexpectedly confronted by crippling anxiety, an overwhelming sadness, uncontrollable sobbing, and a paralysing sense of hopelessness that didn't go away until her daughter was born. For the ‘helper' who usually looks after others, she was left feeling disoriented. In this moving episode, Rachel speaks candidly about her lived experience with hyperemesis gravidarum and the antenatal depression and anxiety that overshadowed her pregnancy. Together, we explore: the shame that can accompany perinatal mental ill health and how it delays recovery the uphill battle many mothers face by constantly being told their symptoms are ‘normal' why mental health care should not be limited to postpartum the crucial role of our loved ones in recovery, and how the right support can make all the difference. Rachel's story is a powerful reminder of the often-overlooked importance of mental health care during pregnancy. It's a story about hope and finding light at the end of the tunnel. Above all, it's a story about the power of sharing your experiences openly, asking for help, and advocating for yourself. Even if you've done years of therapy, learned to manage your emotions, and built self-awareness, your nervous system might still be stuck in survival mode. But why is this? In this mini episode, Dr. Aimie dives into the biology behind how oxidative stress at the cellular level can keep your body trapped in a trauma response. No matter how much mindset work you've done! She breaks down how unresolved biological stress sends ongoing danger signals to your nervous system, fueling anxiety, overwhelm, and chronic dysregulation. You'll hear more about: Why trauma isn't just stored in your mind but in your mitochondria and DNA How oxidative stress acts like “rust” inside your cells and blocks emotional regulation The link between oxidative damage and PTSD, depression, and chronic illness Why your body needs energy, not willpower, to heal from trauma What actually helps repair oxidative damage and stabilize your nervous system How to use food, supplements, and sleep routines to support deep biological healing Whether you're supporting others on their healing journey or navigating your own, this episode reveals the hidden cellular barriers that can keep the nervous system stuck and offers practical ways to work with the body's biology to create real progress.
If you've done the journaling, the therapy, the podcasts—and still feel stuck in anxiety, burnout, or dysregulation—this episode is for you.In today's episode, Audrey dives into why you can't think your way out of a dysregulated nervous system, and why talk therapy (while helpful) doesn't always lead to deep, embodied healing. You'll learn:The role of the vagus nerve and what it means for your healingWhy your nervous system needs to feel safe before you can fully changeHow somatic tools work differently than mindset workHow to begin reconnecting to your body, not just your thoughtsThis episode is a permission slip to stop blaming yourself for not “thinking differently”—and start working with your body, not against it.Additional Resources:Work with Audrey 1:1: https://www.audreybrothers.com/coaching5-Day Detachment Reset: https://stan.store/audreyabrothers/p/5day-detachment-resetNervous System Masterclass: https://stan.store/audreyabrothers/p/free-nervous-system-masterclass-doi14vx9Breathe with Sandy on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BreatheWithSandyJoin Audrey's Newsletter: https://audreyabrothers.substack.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=substack_profilexx, AudreyAdvice My Friends Ignored
Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 748 Are your unresolved childhood wounds hijacking your relationships and keeping you stuck in depression or anxiety? Neuro-Rewiring Expert Mike Zeller joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 748, to share how healing your protector parts can transform conflict into deeper connection and trust, why psychedelics can reopen critical social learning periods and give you access to the hidden programming of your mind, and how to move from fear-driven protector parts into authentic flow state. "Our core longing as human beings is connection and love. We think that the wounded, victim, angry self is who we are because that part is in the driver's seat, and we're identified with that feeling. When we do the neuro-rewiring work, we separate that enmeshment. And because of that separation, we can now recognize the patterns and awareness instead of being in it so much that we can't see." - Mike Zeller
Many people spend years in therapy and still struggle to feel truly safe in relationships. But why is this? The answer lies in the body. You can understand your trauma, but still feel unsafe. Oxytocin helps turn that understanding into actual feelings of safety in your body. Known as nature's most powerful anti-inflammatory, oxytocin plays a vital role in regulating the nervous system, forming secure connections, and shifting the body out of survival mode. In this episode, Dr. Aimie is joined by world-renowned oxytocin expert Dr. Sue Carter to discuss how this hormone holds the key to healing trauma, creating genuine safety, and forming secure connections. Dr. Carter has studied oxytocin for over four decades and reveals why this hormone is essential for moving from survival to thriving. In this conversation you hear why traditional talk therapy alone often falls short, how early life experiences program our capacity for connection, and practical tools for naturally increasing oxytocin to create a felt sense of safety in your body. You'll learn more about: How early attachment experiences shape your nervous system and relationships The difference between vasopressin and oxytocin in the stress response How trauma and chronic stress disrupt your ability to feel safe, even in loving relationships Why oxytocin is nature's “fire extinguisher” for inflammation and chronic illness Practical tools to support healing and regulate your nervous system And more! Whether you're a practitioner or someone navigating your own healing journey, this episode offers evidence-based insights into how your body creates its own pharmacy of healing hormones and why safety in relationships is the biological foundation for all healing Helpful Links Related To This Episode: Want to know more about the Safe and Sound Protocol mentioned in the episode? We're taught that saying "I don't know" is a cop-out. But what if it's the most honest and necessary step in creating real change? In this episode, Penny Chiasson, board-certified hypnotist and subconscious expert, unpacks the truth about the subconscious and unconscious mind-and why traditional motivation techniques often miss the mark. She explains how deeply ingrained beliefs can prevent people from changing, even when they want to-and why understanding this is essential for anyone in coaching, leadership, or healing professions.

What if your inability to change habits and reactions wasn't about lack of willpower or being lazy, but was actually about your body not having enough energy to make the change? In this mini episode, Dr. Aimie goes into the biology behind why so many people feel stuck in old patterns or habits, expanding on her conversation with Katie Wells from Episode 123. She answers a question from Jessica, a therapist, about why her clients intellectually understand their problems but can't seem to make changes stick and feel drained after therapy. Dr. Aimie explains how trauma becomes an energy problem in your body. She breaks down what happens inside your cells when trauma gets stored and why healing requires energy that many people simply don't have. You'll hear more about: How trauma affects your body's mitochondria (aka the cellular powerhouses) The warning signs that your energy system is struggling Why feeling exhausted after therapy means your body doesn't have the energy to heal (Hint: You're NOT actually failing!) Simple steps you can take today to boost energy levels naturally If you know what your problems are but can't seem to change them, or if you're helping someone who's stuck in this cycle, this episode offers practical steps that actually work with your biology instead of against it. Send us a textWe are all under the same Sun. From Praia to Lagos, so much remains the same. It's always fascinated me how much, from Nigeria to Barbados to Jamaica to Angola to Guinea to Mozambique to Haiti to Senegal to Cape Verde, felt like a simulation. All these black men with the same disposition and mannerisms and bluetooths hanging out of their ear. I can't describe to you how funny all these cultures collectively are to me. Separated but you can't hide the roots. But are real conversations actually happening? Are these black men saying, “I'm going through it right now, I'm really struggling with ____”? Not so much that I've seen. We have to give people permission to be themselves sometimes. To say, “you can say how you actually feel and still be manly.” I guess that's one of my missions here. Anyway, Tomi & I sat down to put it on the line & air some dirty laundry. “You can't ruin a true connection by saying how you feel.” I believe that to my core. “The Brothers” (2001) served as the inspo for this one here, hope you enjoy. -WV
Why are so many people still stuck—even after therapy, breathwork, and nervous system regulation? In this episode, Heather and Kent McKean explore why true healing often eludes people: the subconscious mind is being left out of the process.
