Netball used to be one of the most important things in Nat Panagarry's life – but that has all changed. Last year Nat's wife Katie was diagnosed with stage four clear cell cancer and life as they knew it was turned upside down. Suddenly playing netball for England and Loughborough Lightening paled into insignificance for Nat compared to what she and her wife were facing. Unsurprisingly it has been a rollercoaster journey for the pair. There have been hospital appointments, chemotherapy and they have both had to tackle hurdles no one in their 30s expects to face. As Nat admits in this SportSpiel podcast episode, there were moments of anger. Many in their situation would ask – why them? They were no different. But there have also been moments of hope and happiness. In November the pair tied the knot and the countless messages of support they have received as they share their journey on social media have been overwhelming. Throughout it all playing netball for Loughborough does still play a key part in Nat's life. Now that the 2023 Netball Super League season is back up and running that's become very apparent, although she openly admits her approach is different. In many ways it's also unknown as she embarks on her first full campaign balancing everything off the court as well. What is unmistakeable in this episode is Katie's inspiration and the hurdles the couple face together are also a key reminder of the larger things in life. It also serves as a reminder of how much you can take from the person you love the most regardless of how tough the situations are. While the focus now is very much on Katie's battle with the disease, Nat and her wife are determined to raise as much awareness as possible. One charity who perform such vital work in that area is Look Good Feel Better, who are partnering with England Netball for the return of their annual charity netball tournament on Sunday, March 26 to raise awareness and funds for the charity. Taking place at Warwick University, the tournament is open to teams looking to battle it out with an amazing cause in mind. With incredible prizes and goody bags on offer it's a perfect opportunity to raise awareness for such a vital charity. It may be early in the week, but Team Tova is ready for a drink... Which is not to say we haven't loved-ish our month of sobriety! But today we will be toasting to the $1.17 million raised by this year's Dry July for three worthy cancer charities - Look Good Feel Better, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and PINC & Steel NZ. And we'll be celebrating the $10,000 dollars raised through our own fundraising… big shout out to our boss Dallas Gurney who, in his infinite generosity, coughed up $5k after agreeing to match our donations. Our charities have been amazing… joining us now is General Manager of Look Good Feel Better - Claire O'Higgins.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of Pillow Talk, Robin Wright talks with Tim Quinn, co-founder of skincare line Halo 42 and the former lead make-up artist for L'Oreal's Giorgio Armani Beauty, about what it takes to harness our inner strength in the face of adversity. Rather than dwelling in grief after experiencing setbacks and personal loss, Tim has been able to move forward by creating a life focused on giving back and supporting causes that inspire him. From donating his time and talent for Michelle Obama's Let Girls Learn initiative, raising money for HPV and cancer research with the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, teaching beauty techniques to people with cancer with Look Good Feel Better, or his advocacy for autism research with Peace Love Solve, Tim has navigated his way through personal losses by investing in the karma bank in a huge way.

This program takes people in their lowest times of their lives, builds up their confidence and creates community along the way. Welcome to The Green Edit Podcast, your go-to destination for clean, high-performance beauty, hosted by founder & Organic Makeup Artist, Cathy Tolpigin. On this podcast, you'll hear interviews with brand founders, formulators, beauty innovators and wellness experts. Together we unpack the various definitions of clean, share inspiring brand stories, and cover the latest innovations in the green beauty industry — with a few product recommendations thrown in, of course. Today's guest is Carol Kavurma, General Manager of Look Good Feel Better Australia. For 31 years, Look Good Feel Better has run workshops to help Australians undergoing cancer treatment to recognise that small, simple actions of self-care each day can have a huge impact on both physical and emotional wellbeing. The workshops encourage patients to follow a daily routine to keep their skin nourished and protected, they are taught a few tips to give the illusion of lashes and brows and are shown how to style and wear a fun piece of headwear. We all know a fun pop of colour on the lips can make all the difference when we're in need of a little pick-me-up and for those undergoing cancer treatment, the confidence-boosting effect is even more powerful. As a makeup artist, I have loved supporting Look Good Feel Better over the years by running virtual and face to face skincare and makeup workshops. I have seen women enter the workshops with sadness and apprehension, it quickly transforms into a sense of relief and comfort, just by being in the same room with others who understand what they are going through. They leave the workshop with a sense of renewed confidence and often as new friends, which is beautiful to watch.I would love to support this amazing organisation further by donating $2 from every ticket sold to The Green Edit Event set for the 10th of March 2022. And if any beauty brands in our community would like to donate some products to Look Good Feel Better for use in future workshops, hopefully this episode provides a little insight and inspiration.Last product you purchased - RMS Beauty ConcealerWhat's been your best beauty discovery this year - Dr Hauschka Bath EssenceYour desert island skincare product - Weleda Skin Food Professional treatment you swear by - Brow wax and MassageBest piece of beauty or wellness advice you can share - Sunscreen Sunscreen, sunscreen, essential for those undergoing cancer treatment and drink lots of water. You can follow Look Good Feel Better @lgfbaustralia a on InstagramAll information about registering for a workshop as a patient, registering as a volunteer, making donations of beauty products and financial donations are found on the Look Good Feel Better website:https://lgfb.org.au And if there's anything you want to hear on future episodes let us know on Instagram @thegreenedit_au or via email hello@thegreenedit.com.auAnd finally, if you love listening, please rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Erena Shimoda Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Erena Shimoda received her Divemaster certificate in Venezuela in 2005, and began shooting underwater photographs in Thailand, Bonaire, Bahama, Corsica, Cozumel, Cancun, and Hawaii. She specializes in underwater portrait photography and uses her background in New Media and Fine Art to create unique compositions in different media. She pioneered underwater transformative photography after surviving a car accident in which she lost her father and was severely injured. As a part of her healing process, she volunteered at the American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program. The program is for cancer patients to reassure there is beauty during and after cancer. By combining total immersion with portrait photography, she discovered a powerful transformation that can help others who are traumatized by physical disabilities, domestic violence, and PTSD. The transformative effect of her portraits prompted Erena to use her experience in underwater photography to promote recovery, tranquility and freedom. She knows that the power of water combined with the creative process transforms body and mind. The project is a donation base and my business of underwater maternity and underwater beauty shoots fund a big part of the underwater portrait session cost. For survivors, there is a discounted package price:underwaterhealer.com/testimonialshttp://underwaterhealer.com
