Have you considered quitting therapy? Well, it might actually be a great idea. In this episode, we explore the idea that therapy isn't necessarily a lifelong commitment but rather a dynamic tool to be used when needed. We debate constant introspection may do more harm than good, questioning the fine line between healthy self-awareness and potentially damaging over-analysis. We chat with our friend, Karan Brar, to explore the motivations behind self-reflection, investigating whether it serves as a genuine quest for personal growth or merely as a coping mechanism to navigate the psychological intricacies surrounding the fear of being perceived as flawed, examining societal pressures and the internal narratives that drive this apprehension. This week the PSNI laid down a challenge to men and boys everywhere. Check your behaviour towards women and girls. Step away from negative attitudes. Challenge your mates. And have the confidence to step in safely and put a stop to potentially abusive behaviour. The Power to Change campaign comes as figures show that between January 2019 and December 2024, thirty two women and girls were killed by men. And there were 92 attempted murders from December 2018 to November '24. In the Republic, 1,250 attacks in the home were reported every week last year. Will initiatives such as this PSNI plan bring real difference over time? Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with Kerrie Flood, CEO of Fermanagh Women's Aid, Wicklow secondary school teacher Eoghan Cleary and journalist Amanda Ferguson.

Canada's new Arctic Foreign Policy, announced on Friday, aims to strengthen Canada's position in the region as it's under threat from Russia and climate change. Bob Casey continues to embarrass and humiliate himself over his Senate race loss to Dave McCormick. Casey and Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia have made it known that they are totally fine breaking the law to interfere with an election clearly won by McCormick. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has finally stepped in to denounce Bob Casey and his actions. Senior Counsel from the Article 3 Project, Josh Hammer is with me today to unpack all things on the legal front and Trump's nominations getting sworn in by the Senate. Setting the tone in Pennsylvania, the decision made by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court does open doors for legal ramifications for the Bucks County Commissioner and Casey. Hammer insists that if a Merrick Garland DOJ could not find enough evidence to prosecute Gaetz then all that would be left is a Democratic leak that liberal media hacks would chew on. Josh Hammer gives us a full legal update on the Trump cases left to be determined and how the Article 6 supremacy clause and Articles 1 and 2 may come into Trump's favor. Last week Christopher Keck shared why it's helpful to get curious about our past to draw connections between our childhood and how we show up in our parenting today. If you've taken time to do that, it's easy to get overwhelmed and you may even be tempted to get stuck in shame. That's why I wanted Christopher to come back and share how we can begin to rewrite the script and break away from unhealthy reactions. The insights and tools he shares in this episode are practical and will inspire you to consider how to relate to your children in ways that build (or rebuild) the trust necessary to thrive in these relationships. In this episode you'll learn: Why it's critical to increase the response time between an event and reactions to our kids Why the “3 R's” are necessary in an intense moment Why you could be preventing a child from learning humility and forgiveness Tips for how to repair a relationship with an adult child Why our brains need us to celebrate even small victories in creating connection with our kids Connect with Christopher: Open Hearts Wellness Center (Phoenix, AZ) Links Mentioned: Rules of Estrangement by Joshua Coleman Grab your copy of Lifted From Shame Order your eBook or print book on Amazon here. Dr. Drew Ramsey is a board certified psychiatrist, author, and mental health advocate. He has been featured on a variety of talk shows, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He is currently an assistant clinical professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Ramsey founded the Brain Food Clinic, which is a digital clinical practice that blends nutrition and psychiatry to provide alternative treatment options for mental health diagnosis. His book, Eat to Beat Depression and Anxiety, incorporates research on how a mindful diet can greatly decrease levels of depression and anxiety. He also serves on the advisory board for both Men's Health and the nonprofit Bring Change To Mind. In today's episode, host Shay Beider welcomes Dr. Drew Ramsey to discuss the intersection of mental health and nutrition. He defines nutritional psychiatry as the use of nutrition to optimize brain health and to treat and prevent mental health disorders. Dr. Ramsey talks about how, as a psychiatrist, he encourages choices around food to incorporate empowerment in making decisions. The two discuss some of the recent studies on incorporating various diets, including the Mediterranean diet, to greatly reduce levels of depression and anxiety. Dr. Ramsey shares his role with Men's Health magazine, and how he has worked to decrease the stigma around expressing emotions that leads men to feel they need to “man up.” Shay and Dr. Ramsey close their conversation with alternative options for mental health treatment, and the importance of finding ways to treat the symptoms that keep you from living your best life. Women in Iran have been at the forefront of protests that have swept the country for weeks. More than 200 people have lost their lives, and hundreds of others have been detained after demonstrations following the death of 22 year old Mahsa Amini. She died after being arrested by the regime's morality police for not wearing her hijab correctly. Women have been fighting for their basic freedoms and demanding an end to the mandatory headscarf. Many have posted videos on social media, cutting their hair or burning their hijabs in protest. But will their anger lead to reforms in the Islamic Republic? This week on the Inquiry, we ask: will the protests in Iran bring change?
