She designs her life and business around what lights her up and not on what others might want thus putting herself last! It's all about self-first and really self-love. >>From Selfless to Self-love: A Guide for High Achieving Women that are Introverts, Empaths and Highly Sensitive People to go from Depleted to Dynamic! What is an Audio Summit?Think of it like a 'podcast summit'.Just like an in-person conference or summit or a virtual summit but in audio format (like a podcast!) so you can listen on the go!I will have between 5-11 self-care and self-love experts and introverts, empaths and highly sensitive people that I interview and get tips from to go from depleted to dynamic!~~~~~~~~~~Join the Waitlist for my first Audiobook (also with transcripts) with the same title as the Audio Summit! What's the difference between my Audio Summit and my Audiobook? The Audio Summit will be higher in cost and although I will have transcripts they won't be in a 'book' type of format. And my Audiobook will be more of a guide. It will also be a more affordable option w/ pdf's that you can take notes with and start to implement right away!Fan of an e-book or a paperback book?*I'll also have e-book and paperback copies to follow -- but the audio version will be published first! :)Stay tuned!~~~~~~~~

In this candid yet powerful episode Toni Aiken- Interpreter and Advocate - speaks about accessibility for the Deaf Community in Jamaica and how having deaf parents gave her an even more valuable voice through sign language. She shows that inclusivity goes beyond lip service and that her mission is to amplify voices that need to be heard no matter the medium.
Sign language interpreters are increasingly being included at events and on screen. Auslan Stage Left is an organisation that enables the deaf community to experience events such as theatre, music, dance, art, festivals, and more. Auslan Interpreter Mikey Webb told Shane Doherty on Summer Drive, "But the fact that a deaf person can go along [to a concert] and enjoy it with their next-door neighbour or their cousins or their family members, that's the special part." "It's about the experience, not necessarily the music," Mr Webb continued. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Stories from Boise's Deaf Community. Hosted by Timothy Blonsky, President of Idaho Association of the Deaf. James Castle was born deaf, and, while he attended Idaho's school for deaf and blind children, he never became proficient in reading, writing, or a conventional means of communication. Even so, Castle was clearly passionate about language and communication, and created a large number of works investigating letters, signs, and symbols assembled into dizzying and ever-changing combinations. One of these is his combination of the words "Purse" and "Discusses," which individually don't mean what we think they do and yet, collectively, the piece does communicate. In honor of James Castle's creative ways of connecting, we celebrate the stories of our incredible deaf community on the back porch of his former house. Tim Blonsky, president of the Idaho Association of the Deaf , will host three featured storytellers intermixed with a community story slam (which is open to all to share on the theme). Featuring: Mikkel Nelson Jo Ann Dobecki Shopbell Sonny Cabbage Interpreted for the deaf and hard-of-hearing by LaVona Andrew Carson and Holly Thomas-Mowery Produced by Jodi Eichelberger
A single father who discovers he has a four-year-old daughter without any means to communicate has us breaking down this complex journey and the struggles he faces while he makes a connection with his daughter's mentor and advocate in the process.

On this episode of #mensexpleasure, I chat with Katia Schwartz. Katia is a disability and sex worker rights activist, with a career in the sex industry spanning over 16 years. As a profoundly deaf, queer sex worker, Katia navigates unique intersections and is passionate about advocating for the destigmatisation and inclusion of marginalised groups. Episode transcript: CLICK HERE Key points: Introductions and background Katia introduces herself as a deaf, disabled sex worker who lives on Gadigal land in Sydney and does advocacy work for the disabled and sex worker communities. Cam shares that he previously wrote a blog post about the appropriation of sex worker aesthetics, in which he quoted Katia. Katia's experience on SBS Insight Katia describes being approached by the producers of the SBS Insight TV show to appear on an episode about "Convenient Relationships" and transactional relationships. She made her access needs clear, including requiring an Auslan interpreter and accurate closed captions, which the producers agreed to. However, when the episode aired, the captions were poor quality and not synced properly, making it inaccessible for Katia. She tried to resolve the issue with the network but faced dismissive responses. Misconceptions about disability and sex work Katia discusses common misconceptions people have about disabled people and sex workers, including the assumption that disabled people cannot or should not engage in sexual activity. She shares examples of inappropriate questions she's received, like "How do you have sex if you're deaf?" Katia explains how her disability informs and enhances her sex work in positive ways, like her heightened sensory awareness and communication skills. Advice for allies and advocates Katia provides advice for allies and advocates, emphasizing the importance of listening to marginalized voices, being open to feedback, and amplifying the perspectives of those with lived experiences. She encourages people to diversify their social media feeds and be mindful of the representation and narratives they consume. Wrap-up and resources Katia shares how to find and connect with her online, including her Instagram handle and website. Cam thanks Katia for the insightful conversation and the opportunity to learn. Joined by interpreter Amber Hodson, we traverse the touching narratives of students and families who've found a sanctuary within these walls. From the dedicated students traveling vast distances for a proper education to the tireless efforts of families learning ASL to connect with their loved ones, we uncover the profound sacrifices made for the love of learning and culture. With Trina, an outreach specialist, we witness the intricate web of support and challenges that weave the fabric of the deaf educational experience across 47 counties. Trina's own story, a testament to resilience and advocacy, mirrors the myriad of paths that lead to and from the California School for the Deaf. The episode sheds light on the community integration, from families making the leap from Korean Sign Language to ASL, to the critical work of Deaf Hope in navigating the criminal justice system for deaf survivors of violence. Each narrative is a thread in the rich tapestry of Deaf culture, revealing the essential role of accessible services and the power of community.A part of our conversation offers a window into the subtleties of Deaf etiquette and the importance of terminology that respects the individual. We talk about the contrasts between Deaf and hearing cultures, punctuated with personal journeys that span educational landscapes and professional realms. By the episode's end, you'll be immersed in the celebration of diversity and the call for inclusivity, as we highlight the unwavering spirit of the Deaf community and the educators, interpreters, and advocates who champion their cause.Discover special deals from our sponsors when you listen to this episode of the Fremont Podcast. Thanks for listening! In this episode I speak about how I've been hard on myself for my whole life, since I was a kid and some things that I do now that help me to not be so hard on myself. When I had my breakdown back in 2020, and I discovered the podcast "The HSP Podcast by Julie Bjelland", I learned that it's the absolute worst for sensitives and highly sensitive people to be hard on ourselves. Don't get me wrong, we're all works in progress and it's a "constant battle" and it's easier said than done. I recorded this episode before the US's Martin Luther King Jr. holiday which was on Monday, January 15, 2024 but due to perfectionism and urgent life matters am just able to publish/release it. It will come out during Black History Month (the month of February) in the US so it's still fitting for me to publish it now. :) I have so many freedoms due to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Freedom Fighters and everyone else who helped to get the Civil Rights Act in 1964 to pass as well as the Voting Rights Act to pass in 1965. In this episode I am thanking Dr. Reverand Martin Luther King Jr., and everyone who helped to make my freedoms possible today! Whether it's a day job or a relationship, a friendship or even your current residence, when we get that 'nudge' and it's a whisper, let's not let it get to the 'screaming' inner voice as Oprah says... "listen to the whisper". Life is too short to feel 'uninvited', or 'ignored', or 'unappreciated'. Let's listen from the beginning to that whisper and start to make moves right away. It has been two months since a gunman opened fire on a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, Maine, killing 18 people and injuring 13 others. One community was especially hit hard by the attack. The shooting is believed to be the deadliest for deaf people ever in the U.S. Laura Barrón-López reports on how that community is rebuilding in the wake of tragedy. At age 10, Rachel Zemach lost her her hearing in an accident. That obviously changed her life--but, she says, becoming deaf was one of her life's greatest gifts. In this episode, Rachel shares her experiences going through the world with and without hearing, and offers advice on how hearing people can help and advocate for deaf people (including words and actions both to use and to avoid--hint: don't assume all deaf people can lip read!). Rachel also offers her opinions about cochlear implants; teaching deaf kids and their parents American Sign Language; the strength and humor of the deaf community; and much more. She spent many years as a teacher of deaf children, and recently wrote a book, "The Butterfly Cage," chronicling her experiences and observations. I have come down with a cold so rather than subject you to me coughing and spluttering through a show I have selected a classic from the archives. As I explain, I recently listened back to this episode after a chance meeting with my guest Cormac Leonard. The episode on the history of the Deaf community is the definition of forgotten history. Until recently the community was largely ignored by historians. In this episode Cormac explains how the deaf community shaped Irish history. He also shares individual stories such as John Neville who spent most of his life in a workhouse and the IRA volunteer William Leavey. Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/irishhistory. Chase Prieve is an account manager in the telecommunications and technology industries with experience working with everything from startups to Fortune 1000 companies. He is the Founder of Hi There Solutions, developing innovative solutions for the Deaf and hard of hearing as well as their family and friends. John Prieve is the Director of Operations at Hi There Solutions and the father of Chase Prieve. He has severe hearing loss and is a bilateral hearing aid user. He brings his own experiences to the company and now helps others work through their hearing loss. In this episode… Day-to-day accommodations for the Deaf and hard of hearing communities can be surprisingly sparse. There are well-known systems in place for blind people but fewer options for those with hearing issues. Some of this is due to a lack of advocacy, but there are also gaps between technology and its potential use. John Prieve has dealt with severe hearing loss for much of his life and has recently partnered with his son to create better accommodations for those in a similar position. They have worked diligently on the hardware and software and are ready to reveal their progress. In this episode of the ListenUp! Podcast, Chase Prieve returns with his father John Prieve to discuss their app and how it can help those with hearing loss. They go through the research and hardware behind the product, how it fits into the modern world, and the business model that drives it. They also touch on John's own story and the struggles he has worked through to get where he is today.
Renowned actress Grace Byers embraced her leading role in the hit summer comedy horror, The Blackening. “Allison” – an outspoken, no-nonsense character from the film – was very proud of her Black heritage; that role has served as a replicate of who she's become as a proud Black woman of empowerment. Her children's books, “I Am Enough,” and “I Believe I Can,” remained on the New York Times best-sellers list for months. But for a long time, Byers, who was raised in a multicultural household, struggled with her own sense of identity and the pressures of society trying to define her. Stay tuned as host Eddie Robinson chats unguarded with acclaimed actress and celebrated author, Grace Byers. The new mom shares with I SEE U the challenges of navigating through her journey of being both Black and white; being Caymanian and American; and being of the deaf and hearing cultures. Byers also offers up an intriguing look at how her recent birth has admittedly overwhelmed her mentally and physically – providing moments of candid reflection as she comes to grips with her health all while showing a vulnerable ‘grace' under pressure.
