This week on Fabulous Film and Friends, we're leaping onto the Indiana Jones bandwagon with a quick review of 2023's non-Spielberg directed Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, helmed by James Mangold and starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelson, Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook and John Rhys Davies. My guests today are two avowed Indy fans, David Johnson and George Young. The synopsis: Indiana Jones, now a lonely old divorcee living in a squalid apartment and retiring from teaching at New York's Hunter College is called into action by his goddaughter Helena to help her find Archimedes' time hopping Dial of Destiny before a group of Nazis find it.
Happy fourth of July everyone! We're back with the next installment of our summer series, and this time we have the return of another icon that Lucasfilm is intent on destroying, the one and only Indiana Jones with "Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny." Taking place in 1969, Indiana Jones is facing retirement when someone from his past returns and whisks him away on another adventure to recover Archimedes' Dial of Destiny, which can supposedly transport its user through time. But of course, the Nazis are after it as well, this time led by Mads Mikkelson's Jurgen Voller. Dom & Luk break down all the ways in which this film compares to its predecessors, and what it gets so very wrong. In Marvel's Phase Three, a few new characters were introduced including Doctor Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme. To mainstream audiences, he was a fairly unknown character, similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy, which was a huge hit. Doctor Strange was released in November of 2016 and looked like a superhero version of Inception or The Matrix. Despite a little controversy over the casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, what we got was a solid entry in the MCU and a great introduction to Stephen Strange. What do you think of Doctor Strange? Let us know! Cinema Heroes YouTube Instagram Twitter

Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelson, star in the Sci-Fi flick, Chaos Walking, and Josh & Jade share their dumpster fire of an opinion on this film. Skål! Join us this week as we discuss the Danish comedy-drama film about the highs and lows of alcohol, 'Another Round'. Directed by legendary Dogme 95 director Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelson, the film won the Best International Feature at the Oscars earlier in the year. As well as chatting about Spike Lee's embarrassing moment at the Cannes Film Festival, we share our thoughts on Rob Bowman's 2002 action/adventure film 'Reign of Fire', William Friedkin's 1980 sweaty leather-clad crime/thriller starring Al Pacino 'Cruising', and the 1978 supernatural thriller 'The Medusa Touch' starring Richard Burton as a novelist with a destructive telekinetic mind.
(A Ben & Tom episode - prepare for bone dry humour and challenges to the absurd.) Feel free to druk the heck out of our back catalogue! (Most episodes will leave you with a raging hangover)By mere coincidence, this episode drops in the aftermath of more penalty woes and the closest we've ever come (and probably ever will) to 'bringing it home since 66'. The first question I had was if you had ever been drunk at work? I feel July 12th 2021, brought with it my answer. And my 2nd...How did it go? Did you find an improvement in your performance? Driving or operating heavy machinery, I imagine, could have been an issue?Well, the lads in Another Round indeed showed signs of improvement in the workplace! A film worthy of celebrating, Thomas Vinterburgs tale of 4 middle age blokes experimenting with the effects of alcohol. What each man gains or loses from being slightly tipsy at work and day to day existence is humorous as it is ultimately tragic. Mads Mikkelson can do everything, from playing cards with Bond to propping up Sam Worthington in Clash to being labelled a paedophile in The Hunt to having old friends for dinner as Hannibal. Was it Mads experience of working with Worthington that led him down the path of cannibalism? Yes. Sam Worthington's stupid face for dinner? I'll drink to that!
