Manny Santiago fue nombrado por el Gobernador Jay Inslee como el primer Director Ejecutivo de la recientemente creada Comisión de Asuntos LGBTQ del Estado de Washington en agosto de 2019. En su función, Manny sirve como parte del Gabinete del Gobernador. Nacido y criado en una granja cafetalera en Puerto Rico, Manny ha estado envuelto en trabajo de justicia social desde pequeño. Antes de ser nombrado a la Comisión, Manny fue el Director Ejecutivo de “Rainbow Center”, el centro comunitario para la comunidad LGBTQ de la ciudad de Tacoma y el Condado de Pierce en Washington. Él recibió su grado de Bachillerato (Licenciatura) en Sociología de la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez, estudió Administración Pública en la Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico y posee una Maestría en Divinidad (Teología) de la Escuela de Teología de Andover Newton en Massachusetts. En 2007, Manny se convirtió en la primera persona latina abiertamente gay en ser ordenado como ministro en las Iglesias Bautistas Americanas, USA. Desde entonces, él ha servido congregaciones y ministerios de teología progresista en Boston, MA, New York, NY, Seattle, WA y Madison, WI. En Washington, Manny estuvo involucrado en la lucha por legalizar el matrimonio igualitario y la campaña para prohibir la práctica de terapias de conversión y frecuentemente testificaba en la Asamblea Legislativa del estado. En 2011, el periódico virtual Huffington Post nombró a Manny como de los “Líderes Religiosos LGBTQ más Inspiradores en los EEUU”. David Reyes joined Desiree on May 28th, 2019 as well as a special appearance by Mike O'Meally and his son Theo at the Dash Radio HQs. David has the gift of impacting all those on his path whether on his board bringing great infectious energy to any session or off of it bringing laughter, smiles and the true gift of friendship to those closest to him. His skating and work ethic phenomenal, as Thrasher photographer Joe Hammeke shared, "One time I went to Colorado to shoot one photo with Ernie Torres and David picked me up at the airport we got the photo with Ernie and then over the next 4 days shot an entire interview with David." He is giving back always, to inspire anyone coming from a similar upbringing, to collaborations with Villalobos a pit bull rescue to being a board member on The Sheckler Foundation and helping to be the change. His creativity also impacts many facets as well, from his board, to a status of tie dying aficionado with a body of work scattered throughout many brands, his mosaics and the entire process of creating them, to designing his sleeves for his Happy Hour Shades, in of course, Broncos colors. Lots of fun conversing with Mike, David and myself, from first boards to Siri, trips and on and on till Theo woke up from his nap. Manny is a professional skateboarder born in Puerto Rico but raised in Massachusetts who in a short time has gone from making homie videos at home in Lowell, MA with his friends to being one of the top pros in the industry, often seen at the Berrics, skating Street League, and dropping heavy video parts. At the same time, Manny is always giving back to his roots; be that in Lowell or by hosting the annual Prince of Puerto Rico skate competition where he likes to bring along some of his favorite professional skateboarder friends to help provide opportunities for the kids out there killing it as well as to let the locals see some of their heroes skate in person.
