"I'd like to thank my family for loving me and taking care of me. And the rest of the world can kiss my ass.”After the murder nun in Amarillo, Texas, police are convinced they found their killer. Johnny Frank Garrett was tried, sentenced, and executed for the murder of Sister Tadea Benz, but this case is not as straightforward as it seems. From the misconduct of a medical examiner, calls for clemency from Pope John Paul II, omitted evidence, and a second murder that police knew was tied to Sister Tadea's, this is a case where nothing is as it seems. The murders of two women were a rabbit hole that concluded with the realization that Johnny Frank Garrett was executed for a crime he probably didn't commit. This is the story that inspired a movie and three people who were victims of a killer and the justice system.Connect with us on Social Media! You can find us at:Instagram: @bookofthedeadpodX: @bkofthedeadpodFacebook: The Book of the Dead PodcastTikTok: BookofthedeadpodOr visit our website at www.botdpod.comActual Innocence: Johnny Frank Garrett and Bubbles The Clairvoyant.

You should have the choice wether you want to supplement your health with natural supplements. It's really not a controversial statement. (Ex vitamin D, vitamin C, NMN, NAC, etc…)But without people like Daniel Fabricant, PhD., we would all be limited SEVERELY by what we could access without a prescription, or in many cases… ACCESS AT ALL!It doesn't end with supplements. The fight by the Natural Products Association (NPA) is one to liberate information and fair representation of clinical studies that fall outside the control of the massive pharmaceutical industry.Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D served as the Director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he directed agency policy, public affairs and regulatory action regarding regulation of the dietary supplement industry for more than three years.Today Dr. Fabricant is CEO and President of the NPA, the nation's largest and oldest trade organization
One might think that with an album name such as Drudge To The Thicket (Profound Lore), California's Fabricant plays around with sludgy doom. However, that couldn't be further from the truth as this debut is squarely in the death metal camp and is technical throughout, brutal at times, charred around the edges, and savvy beyond its years. So yea, you need to get in on this while things are getting off the ground floor. Buke recently chatted with lead guitarist and vocalist Troy Roberts about the new album, some band history, a stint in Mefitis, and a whole bunch more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy. Huge thanks to Troy for his time!9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram.

Industrial toxic emissions on the South Baltimore Peninsula are among the highest in the nation. Because of the concentration of factories and other chemical industries in their neighborhoods, residents face elevated rates of lung cancer and other respiratory illnesses in addition to heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular disease, all of which can lead to premature death. Fighting to Breathe: Race, Toxicity, and the Rise of Youth Activism in Baltimore (U California Press, 2022) follows a dynamic and creative group of high school students who decided to fight back against the race- and class-based health disparities and inequality in their city. For more than a decade, student organizers stood up to unequal land use practices and the proposed construction of an incinerator and instead initiated new waste management strategies. As a Baltimore resident and activist-scholar, Nicole Fabricant documents how these young organizers came to envision, design, and create a more just and sustainable Baltimore. https://blog.priceplow.com/podcast/dan-fabricant-npa-2023-washington-dc For Episode 100 of the PricePlow Podcast, Ben and Mike flew to Washington D.C. for the Natural Products Association's annual DC Fly-In Day on June 7, 2023. Fly-in days, also known as “lobby days”, bring individuals together to advocate with legislators and other officials on behalf of their shared interests. So this was the day where members of the NPA could meet with their elected representatives on Capitol Hill to discuss matters of importance in terms of public policy geared towards the dietary supplement industry. Episode 100: Dan Fabricant of the NPA in Washington, DC It was only fitting, then, to schedule Episode 100 with Dan Fabricant, CEO of the Natural Products Association (NPA). This is the country's largest and oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the natural products industry — it was founded in 1936 and has over 700 members. In this podcast, we discuss why we should be involved in politics when it has become so off-putting the past decade or so, discuss what the FDA and industry both need to be doing better, and dig into this year's hot topics, which includes the battle against the FDA for NMN. The trip was spectacular — we'll include some videos at the bottom of this article. We were able to meet with congressmen and senators from New Jersey (Ben's district) and Oklahoma (Mike's home). Have a say — or someone else will do so for you The most major point to get across is this: If you're not talking to your legislators, then someone else is. There's only so much oxygen in DC, and every industry needs to fight for theirs. Now let's get into it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVhtNGUqfKI As a reminder, Dan was previously on the PricePlow Podcast in Episode #067, describing how the NPA fought Dick Durbin's 2022 Mandatory Product Listing Bill (described as “MPL” below). Ben had also joined in the fight in Trenton, NJ to prevent them from forcing stores to sell supplements from behind-the-counter (see coverage here and here on Instagram). These are both referenced below: Detailed Show Notes with Dan Fabricant of NPA (0:00) – Hot Start: We need to support our tribe (1:30) – Introduction and the Disenfranchisement with Politics (3:15) – We have to show up (4:30) – What is the NPA? (7:30) – Non-Profit 101 – How is NPA Run? (9:15) – Not Just Federal: Challenges in States (10:10) – Will uninformed legislators ever understand creatine?! (12:30) – Performance Supplements Lead the Way in this Industry (14:00) – Should the dietary supplement community discuss supplements for children (16:00) – The four pillars of the dietary supplement industry's regulatory framework (23:00) – Dan's Background at the FDA (24:00) – Dan vs. USPLabs (28:45) – What can be a dietary supplement? (32:30) – Botanicals and Constituents of Botanicals (35:15) – Foods and supplements cannot intoxicate (38:00) – New Dietary Ingredient Notifications (NDIN) (39:30) – Congress... —— Mixage : Thomas Lenglain
