Have you ever wondered why nutrition seems so complicated, with constantly changing dietary advice, making it hard to know what's truly healthy? I speak with Vinnie Tortorich, a celebrity trainer and author, about cutting through nutrition noise. We discuss how the food industry feeds people untruths, shaping the obesity and chronic disease epidemic. Vinnie, who created the No Sugar, No Grains movement (NSNG), explains that celebrities achieve results through high levels of dedication. We explore why people must sacrifice for goals and how success requires facing failure and maintaining perseverance. Vinnie reviews historical dietary shifts, noting that grains are fattening. He shares how following NSNG supported his 17-year remission from leukemia, a period surpassing medical records. I believe you will find Vinnie's perspective very helpful. Key Takeaways The confusion around nutrition is not accidental; the food industry has been feeding people untruths for decades, contributing to the obesity and chronic disease epidemic. Celebrities achieve impressive transformations due to their "Type A plus plus personalities," meaning they possess the extreme mental capacity and commitment necessary to follow strict plans, such as only eating red meat, fish, chicken, and eggs. Success, both in fitness and in life, is built on the back of failures, a concept Vinnie Tortorich refers to as the Failure Quotient (FQ), which is the number of times one can fail and successfully recover. The NSNG philosophy arose from Vinnie's observation, contrary to prevailing 1980s nutritional wisdom, that grains (complex carbohydrates) contribute to fat storage; his Italian great-grandmother also understood that eating too much grain makes you fat. Following the no sugar, no grains diet dramatically impacted Vinnie's 2007 battle with leukemia, helping him achieve 17 years without needing chemotherapy—a time period significantly longer than the typical prognosis for his form of cancer, making him the person with the longest record. Political and corporate changes in food standards move at a glacial pace, but starting small—such as changing views on saturated fat and removing seed oils—is necessary to eventually alter public health outcomes. 300lbs Released, Not Aerodynamic, Yet, but a Hell of a Redesign: My name is Scott King 46 years old. Huge all my life. In 2006 I had gastric bypass. Day of surgery I was 552lbs. Lost weight but as these surgeries seem to go I gained all my weight back. I tried to have gastric again and was denied. I heard Vinnie Tortorich on the Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew show and as a last ditch effort I tried NSNG. I have lost 300lbs from it. Never been healthier. I have set my unicorn of all goals and that's the Ironman Texas in 2025. I hope this journey inspires the hopeless to take a change and encourage others.Quote: Less of me with NSNG Today's Top 3 Takeaways: Kitchen vs the gym.Healthy lifestyle choices vs surgical band-aids.NSNG Lifestyle vs a crash diet. But as I got into triathlon training, I realized I was actually a strong floater, and I wasn't the strongest swimmer. That is, I was very buoyant and so I mistakenly thought that meant I was a good swimmer. That was a whole entire different beast and my first try was a pool swim, a short one, then you go into open water swim. That's a whole different animal too now that you got currents to deal with, even in a small body of water. It'll expose every flaw or weakness you have in any technique.17:30 – I'm going to build up to that Ironman level of training. But with that comes incredible expenses. entry fees, all of that stuff. I mean, just simple stuff like hydration, nutrition, and that sort of thing. Buying shoes, because I'm a big guy, I wear out shoes, bicycle stuff, everything has a huge expense. Let's not forget I have three daughters. I've told Vinnie before I live in a trickle down economic system in my house, nothing trickles down to Dad, I'm the afterthought.24:15 – I had gastric bypass back in 2006 and I lost a good chunk of weight. Like a lot of people though, I started putting the weight back on. Roughly, around 2016-17, I was pretty much back exactly to where I was when I had gastric bypass beforehand. So I've tried to have gastric bypass again, because oddly enough, and I say this in quotations if you can get both or whatever. It was the only thing that ever worked for me. Which is kind of ironic because I'm trying to have it again because it didn't work for me.26:00 – So I downloaded a PDF, just saying screw it, I gotta check this No Sugar No Grains out. It was a simple list of don't do this, don't do that. I'm married, so I get this list, I'm pretty good at it, but I still didn't do anything about it. But one day, we were out front in the front yard. At the time, my two and a half year old daughter ran out to the street. I'll stop right now, nothing bad happened, because it's a very quiet street, but she was already in the road before I...

The struggle to maintain a healthy weight is real. The most frustrating part, is that a majority of us have good intentions and put forth tremendous effort to live a healthy life. Vinnie is a Celebrity Fitness Trainer, speaker, podcaster and best-selling author of Fitness Confidential: Adventures in the Weight-Loss Game.
How often have you told yourself, "I don't want this to happen again," and then it happens again?!? Today I go over a simple yet powerful tip that not only helps you get what you want, but more importantly helps you AVOID what you don't want. I use my No Sugar No Grains eating style as an example. It's simple:Substitute "I don't want Sugar" with "I will avoid sugar". How about skipping the negative case altogether and just saying, "I want to move towards eating sugar free foods like grilled asparagus."What are you going to avoid and instead move towards?Connect with me on Facebook @emotionsengineering or LinkedIn! What kind of exercise you decide do doesn't even matter. Go for a walk, on a bike ride, or use a jump rope for a couple of minutes. It doesn't matter." - Vinnie Tortorich "You shouldn't constantly cycle in and out of a Ketogenic Diet because that creates a lot of acidity in your system which can lead to problems like gallstones. Once you're in, you're in. You don't want to go crazy and have a carb night once you decide to get off the Keto Diet." - Vinnie Tortorich "Don't sleep in every morning. Instead, get up and get moving. Whether you have something to do the next day or not, get up and create something to do - even on the weekend. Have a healthy breakfast with some protein like a whole egg and then do something physical. You don't have to do tons of exercise first thing in the morning, but maybe some stretching or a light walk." - Vinnie Tortorich "Everyone has their own journey, but pretty much everyone just gives up after they fail. They don't see failure as another step towards success. If you think like that, then you're missing out because no one ever succeeds on the first try. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS Pure Vitamin Club Pure Coffee Club FAKE BEFORE AND AFTER A lot of diet gurus and companies shop fake before and after pics You can usually tell that they are BS, but sometimes they're convincing Pretty messed up that companies would do this All a marketing ploy Often, they'll take pictures of models, telling you to slouch, stick your belly out, and light the picture a certain way Then, they would take the sexy, better, relighted photo where you can see the abs, etc. Pics taken within 30 mins of another Stock photos that companies can use Vinnie regrets having modeled for stock photos like this, he didn't know the intentions Part of why he gives away so much for free NSNG does nothing of the sort Serena recently asked the NSNG FB group for before and after pics People have been emailing her We will release a bunch of REAL peoples' REAL B&A pics in the future! Check out the FB page (Vinnie Tortorich's No Sugar No Grains) because lots of people post these pics of their own volition

Vinnie Tortorich is a celebrity fitness trainer, speaker, podcaster, and best-selling author of Fitness Confidential: Adventures in the Weight-Loss Game. In this episode, we discuss: Why is Vinnie know as America's Angriest Trainer? What's it like working with actors, writers, directors, executives (Hollywood types)? Making the move from New Orleans to LA Living a minimalistic lifestyle Vinnie was turned onto weightlifting after watching Jack LaLanne on TV Choosing the right gym Most trainers suck What to look for in a great trainer Exercise isn't a good way to lose weight You can't do high intensity interval training (HIIT) daily, if you're doing it correctly Is ultra athletics healthy? The best piece of fitness equipment that does it all and it's dirt cheap Fitness is more mental than physical The time Vinnie got fat and he didn't even realize it How a hypoxic tent lead to Vinnie finding out he had leukaemia No Sugar No Grains (NSNG) What does Vinnie eat? Getting nutrients through food vs. supplementation Everyone is lacking in magnesium Vinnie's morning routine Don't wait until tomorrow... start today In life, always take the garbage out Show sponsors: Raw Elements
ISACROSSFITTER & Healthy Lifestyle Co-Hosting:Part of my ISACROSSFITTER online community, our co-host today is a "Difference Maker", proud husband and father of 4 children. He believes that we each have one life, and we leave one legacy behind. Be the difference maker in other people's lives. A Real Estate Broker for 20+ years, CrossFit Box Owner 2.5 Years, Scot was born in Washington, DC. raised in nearby Maryland. He moved to NC in 2011 to be near Duke Hospital for his daughter's ancillary medical care from 9 open heart surgeries. Billy 25, Tori 23, Carly 16, Zoe 13 and Scot's wife Sara. He's not just an Isagenix user and CrossFitter, he's looking to expand his healthy lifestyle choices by learning more about NSNG as well. [caption id="attachment_7017" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Willie Parker aka Fast-Willie of the NFL[/caption] We each have one life, and we leave one legacy behind. - Scot Aubinoe On This Episode You Will Hear:[spp-timestamp time="00:45"] Introducing Scot Aubinoe from our ISACROSSFITTER Facebook community. [spp-timestamp time="02:30"] Struggling as a nibbler and a grazer. [spp-timestamp time="03:45"] Hydrating like crazy, big Nalgene bottle fan, carrying plenty of water in the car at all times. [spp-timestamp time="04:30"] Missing the high of being new, living lethargic and then putting the nutrient dense healthy products in our bodies. [spp-timestamp time="05:05"] Scot hates the term diet, we learn about his own journey and entrance into Isagenix. He had fallen off the clean eating consistency and just loves the meal shakes and how easy it is to hit them twice a day. [spp-timestamp time="06:30"] Now trying to get away from the grains consumption and how hard it will be to make that transition. [spp-timestamp time="35:00"] This is for anyone, doesn't matter if you're a Shakeology person, etc. It's about building healthy lifestyle choices that are maintainable. It's all a transformation and life cycle, you're in for a freakin rollercoaster ride. [spp-timestamp time="08:05"] Scot didn't reach out to me to talk about Isagenix, he wanted to learn more about NSNG, the No Sugar No Grains lifestyle. We haven't discussed this heavily in the ISACROSSFITTER online community. [spp-timestamp time="09:29"] French-Pressing my Isagenix Coffee while on recording this podcast, also shown on the YouTube video of this episode. A fun and shameless plug. We should not be using questionable toxic coffees in plastic Keurig cups that get superheated and then release more toxins into the coffee we drink. [spp-timestamp time="10:55"] Scot has been putting off knee surgery. He's now scheduled for May 10th to go in and get a full knee replacement. If you're already being held back by an injury then stop waiting and just get the healing started, stop procrastinating. [spp-timestamp time="12:15"] He wants to be healthy and fit by the time he turns 60 and 70 years old so he can enjoy his active lifestyle with his children and family. It's all about quality of life besides just being a healthy CrossFit Box Owner. [spp-timestamp time="13:15"] "People Need to Have a Clear WHY." That why will change depending on what we are focusing on but it's got to be a powerful WHY. [spp-timestamp time="14:00"] Scot shares something powerful about his WHY and his daughter which brought their family to Raleigh, NC in 2011. His daughter has had 9 open heart surgeries. [spp-timestamp time="15:15"] Back during their daughter's surgeries, Scot and his wife had turned to chainsmoking to cope, at a rate of a pack a day. [spp-timestamp time="18:35"] Nurses Circadium Rhythm's are a mess due to the stress of the job and the crazy hours. [spp-timestamp time="19:05"] You have to pick one area of your life to focus on first to ensure some success. [spp-timestamp time="22:40"] Scot has a new nickname for me, Mitty as in Walter Mitty from the movie...
: Episode 713 - Vinnie and Anna talk about a la carte gyms, cord-cutting, studies from the 60's that prove high-fat diets don't increase cholesterol and much much more. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS Pure Vitamin Club Villa Cappelli Squatty Potty PROPAGANDA Propaganda really rules our lives Ex: Michael Jackson called himself the King of Pop until it caught on We see it in politics every day, too It is all the spreading of the word Hence, how Vinnie has called Anna the Best Voice in Podcasting, and now she is! INFLAMMATION AND DEPRESSION As we know, sugars and grains can cause inflammation There has been a connection between inflammation and depression Important, especially if mental health issues run in your family Susan Masino talks about this A LA CARTE GYMS Gyms now are very expensive Gyms are probably going to charge based off of what you wanna use at the gym Ex: if you just want to go for the running, you will only pay to use the treadmills A La Carte is the future! Just like how people use cable less now, too, and rather buy Hulu and Netflix, and the like Classes at gyms are also incredibly important for the success of gyms Places like SoulCycle are examples of A La Carte gyms Every big box gym has specified pools, classes, turfs, etc., to try and cater to this new desire HIGH FAT DIETS & CHOLESTEROL Studies from the '60s even show that high-fat diets don't cause cholesterol to go up More and more studies these days are supporting that evidence The SAD diet was concocted by the sugar industry, and the government was paid to support it People in the NSNG Facebook group have actually showed that their cholesterol went down/got way better since starting the No Sugar No Grains lifestyle
: Episode 710 - Vinnie and Andy discuss the success of the NSNG facebook group (Vinnie Tortorich's No Sugar No Grains) and read a member testimonial. They also talk about fear, success and how there is no barrier to entry for podcasting. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSOR Pure Vitamin Club STARTING A PODCAST Anyone can start a podcast Just talk into a computer or a mic or a soundboard You will find out quickly whether or not you will do well It is a meritocracy "If you can dream it, you can do it" Do not fear failure or success! Just do it! Just be creative and use social media a lot to promote that which you wish to promote! NSNG FACEBOOK GROUP So this group is under Vinnie's name, but it is not Vinnie's group He does not run the group, nor does Andy It has a few moderators, including Ru El, Lonnie (Allen), and Tallulah It can get pretty raunchy, but is also EXTREMELY helpful SO SO supportive, and people have the answers! People also post their extremely inspiring stories Makes it all worth it for Vinnie and Andy to hear these stories Rich, who is a cancer survivor, is NSNG and his lab results are AMAZING!!!

On today's Saturday edition of the Angriest Trainer podcast, Vinnie Tortorich answers questions from the newly NSNG Alyssa Klarman of Florida. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSOR Pure Vitamin Club ALYSSA KLARMAN Heard Vinnie's podcast on Resume with Chris Laxamana Tallulah (hey!) got Vinnie on the show Vinnie couldn't get on the show himself Vinnie taught Tallulah the power of her Alyssa started NSNG a few weeks ago from a strict 1280 calorie/day diet She feels so much better now that she is no longer calorie in/calorie out This is better at 125lbs than starving to get to 119lbs IS RED WINE OR BEER WORSE? Alyssa and her husband go out drinking with friends a few times a week She has cut diet soda out of her diet! She wants to know if the sugar of red wine, or the sugar/grains of beer is less "Life into Living" Both are bad, but if it is truly occasional, it is okay Best way to go is drinking distilled liquors BEST ADVICE FOR WOMEN COMING OFF OF CALORIE IN/CALORIE OUT AND GAINING WEIGHT AS THEY START NSNG? Women coming off of calorie in/calorie out will start eating lots of fat, and in turn, gain weight It is hard not to freak out but gaining weight is normal after starving oneself You must stay the course! NSNG is not a quick fix, it is a paradigm shift After the first couple of weeks, it starts getting better (getting past carbflu or ketoflu) Some people need to snack more than others -- if you need to, make sure it is in moderation and NSNG WHEN ADJUSTING, SHOULD YOU AVOID SNACKING? Coming off of eating unhealthy snacks, eat as much NSNG as you need Because the carbs are generally not as filling, you may have to eat more at the beginning, and that is okay It should start to self regulate after a few weeks IS JICAMA OKAY? Alyssa traded apples and strawberries for jicama Jicama is good! Nothing but fiber :) Vinnie is starting to take a harder line approach to fruit Vinnie thinks that fruit is okay, but shouldn't be a staple Berries are the best!

Generally, artificial sweeteners and chemicals can also prevent ketosis or a real weight losing state of being. NSNG is a low carb high fat lifestyle rather than a diet, and those who pursue NSNG often feel better both physically and mentally, and are able to be their best selves on it. Of course, Vinnie supports putting life into living and having a little non-NSNG snack every now and then, but being strict with oneself when it comes to losing weight on NSNG is often important. Everyone is different, however -- while diets high in dairy may still allow some to lose weight, it may prevent others from losing it, and starchy foods like potatoes can also affect people differently. Look for foods with low glycemic indexes and make sure you are eating enough each day! If you have any questions or concerns or would like to speak with Vinnie about NSNG, please contact him through the website and he will respond as quickly as possible.
Welcome to the Wednesday show with Vinnie Tortorich and Andy Schreiber. Today Andy living "No Life Into Living" during the NSNG 100-day challenge, he has lost 21 pounds since January 1st. Now what?
