In this episode of Out of the Clouds, host Anne Muhlethaler interviews celebrity fitness trainer and former ballerina Julie Granger. Anne came across Julie via an online recommendation and was immediately struck not only by the instructor's passion for teaching and the effectiveness of her classes (particularly Brooklyn Barre), but also by the combination of her warmth and dry sense of humour. In this interview, they dig into Julie's journey from the outskirts of Paris to the Boston Ballet, why she left her ballerina career behind, and how she decided to pursue new callings, including yoga, fitness and entrepreneurship. Currently based between Paris and Lisbon, Julie explains how she is ‘three-quarters teacher', and why she is not teaching by default but as a choice since it's something she truly loves. Having opened her first studio the week before the first COVID lockdown in 2020, the ex-ballerina opens up on the difficulties she faced then and how grateful she is to have been able to continue to lead her community of students (her ‘Squad,' as she calls them) virtually. Anne and Julie discuss the competitive culture of celebrity trainers in New York and the benefits of discipline and passion. Julie also shares how she wants to offer her students not just the benefits of a toned and energised body but for them to have a great time while engaging with fitness, as well as how she hopes to make the benefits of ballet available to all. Finally, Julie covers how she's learned to be kinder to herself, as we often are our own harshest critics, and why kindness is what matters most. A passionate, wise, and spirited interview. Today I'm talking with one of the most sought-after celebrity trainers on the planet. Jason Walsh has trained stars like Matt Damon, Miles Teller, Brie Larson, and Bradley Cooper for some of the most physically demanding roles of their careers. In this episode we're talking about yo-yo dieting. My mom said something funny but true about losing weight: The more you yo-yo, the harder the "yo" gets. In other words, the more your weight bounces up, the harder it is to get it back down. I'm not trying to discourage you if you've fallen off the wagon. I get it and Code Red is here for you! What I'm saying is that yo-yoing brings physical and psychological problems that get worse the more you do it. To be clear, that doesn't mean all hope is lost. It DOES mean that you can make things easier on yourself by stopping the yo-yo NOW. In this episode I'll dive into yo-yoing and how you can put a stop to it. Some of what I say is gonna surprise you. (The Cristy of six years ago would NEVER have said it!) Tune in and get motivated to end the yo-yo! ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. This episode is probably gonna ruffle some feathers, and in true Cristy form, I'm leaning into it! Here's the deal. We all wanna hit the pause button on life sometimes. The problem with that is, in life you're always moving in one direction or another, even when it "feels like" you're pausing. For example, people wanna pause their fitness routine (if you're into that) or their healthy eating over the holidays. They wanna pause walking their dog twice a day, or pause posting on social media to grow their business. What they don't realize is that they aren't "pausing" anything. Instead, they've pivoted from moving toward something to moving away from it. It really begs the question: Why does pausing something we know is important come so easily, while staying in momentum feels like a grind...and why is the urge to pause much worse during the holidays? That's exactly what I'm gonna cover in this episode. If you're struggling to stay committed to something, or just want momentum to build on your commitment, tune in to understand why something "harmless" like hitting the pause button on what's important is a disaster waiting to happen. ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. Brad Pickett joins me again for this week's podcast, and we'll be talking about voting...but probably not in the way you're thinking. Yes, you go to the polls and vote for politicians. And any time you buy something, you're voting with your dollar (whether you realize it or not). But neither of those are the kind of voting Brad and I are talking about in this week's new podcast. We're talking about voting with your THOUGHTS. Seriously, did you know that with EVERY thought, you are voting for your future? Most people don't realize it, but we CONSTANTLY have thoughts. (Some people call it "inner dialogue.") Some thoughts are pretty silly. Some are positive. Some are negative. And those negative thoughts can be a real problem. I first became aware of my thoughts back in 2016, when I met my first business coach, Natasha. She came into my office for weight loss and went on to lose 55.5 pounds in five months. Then she started helping me with my business and my mindset, and one of the first things we worked on were my thoughts. When I followed her suggestions, my world took a complete 180-degree turn! It was crazy (in a good way)! Fast forward to this year, after I implemented the SHIFT Protocol (which teaches you how to make your thoughts work FOR you instead of against you), my world took another huge turn for the better, including my ability to comfortably stay on track with my healthy eating. To learn how your thoughts are either "voting" for a future you want or one you don't, tune into this week's new podcast episode! ---- Time to make a shift: https://21dayshift.com ---- Become a VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- Have you seen our new app?
