It's a real pleasure to be here with you today. Debra Muth 1:09So I'm curious, how did you transition from being a doctor OB GYN working with ladies to becoming a marketing expert? Dr. Barb Hale 1:19Well, Dr. Deb, that is actually a question that I get asked a lot, because they don't really see how a doctor and being a marketer is, you know, in the same mind frame, but actually I discovered right at the very beginning, I decided after graduating my studies and all of my training that I would go into private practice, so that I could get a really personal relationship with each one of my patients and know them very well. I found a location that I thought would be perfect because it had high visibility on a main street. And it was a storefront originally being a candy store. My biggest regret there is that they didn't leave their inventory. So I decorated it with everything that would be appropriate for a medical office. And then I was open for business. But it was not a practice that I bought from someone else. Nor was it a practice that I joined with other people. So it didn't take more than a few minutes of being open to realize I have no patients. And in a few weeks, the bills were going to cascade in with no revenue to pay for anything. So right away,

In today's solo episode, I'm interviewing Dave Nassaney for round 2! First episode: Being A Caregiver with Dave Nassany Hi, My name is Dave Nassaney and I help caregivers to not just survive, but to THRIVE. As a caregiver since 1996, I understand the pain and frustration of caregiving. I teach caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones (due to an illness or disability) how to take care of themselves FIRST. Why am I so qualified to be “The Caregiver's Caregiver” you might ask? Well, as I have mentioned, I am (and have been) a caregiver to my beautiful wife, Charlene, for over 2 decades, when she suffered a massive stroke that left her severely speech impaired and paralyzed on the right side. After a 2-3-year grieving period, we almost broke up, but we hung in there. She was angry and bitter most of the time, and after I attended a caregiver support group, I learned that I had to put my needs first — like the airlines tell us to put our oxygen mask on first. After doing this, she started becoming her old self again, and our love was rekindled. I then realized that there were so many other caregivers out there suffering and feeling all alone, I didn't want them to suffer or give up like I almost did. So, I became Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver. I now host a popular syndicated radio show heard in all 50 states and 135 countries. I am a best-selling author, currently releasing my 4th book. I have spoken on the same stage with Suzanne Somers at Harvard, and Martha Stewart at Carnegie Hall. During my current national book & media tour, I have appeared on 35 network TV shows from Hawaii to Washington, DC, as well as speaking at the, Nasdaq Market Site, The New York City Bar, Coca Cola, Mercedes Benz,, the Harvard Clubs of Boston and New York, a Ted Talk, West Point, the NY Academy of Medicine, and currently booked to speak at the Royal Society of Medicine in London this year, sharing my message to caregivers, “How To Prevent Your Loved One's Illness or Disease (or even the Corona Virus) From Killing You.” If you know anyone in this caregiving role, please turn them on to our www.CaregiverDave.com Community Support Website. You just might be saving their live! (Heck, you might be saving your own life)! Thank you. This is despite the fact the academy’s Eileen Guggenheim introduced Ms Farmer to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Horseshoe crabs are not much to look at.  But beneath their unassuming catcher’s-mitt shell, they harbor a half-billion-year-old secret: a superpower that helped them outlive the dinosaurs and survive all the Earth’s mass extinctions.  And what is that secret superpower? Their blood. Their baby blue blood.  And it’s so miraculous that for decades, it hasn’t just been saving their butts, it’s been saving ours too. But that all might be about to change.   Follow us as we follow these ancient critters - from a raunchy beach orgy to a marine blood drive to the most secluded waterslide - and learn a thing or two from them about how much we depend on nature and how much it depends on us.   BONUS: If you want to know more about how miraculous horseshoe crabs are, here's a bunch of our favorite reads: Alexis Madrigal, "The Blood Harvest" in The Atlantic, and Sarah Zhang's recent follow up in The Atlantic, "The Last Days of the Blue Blood Harvest"  Deborah Cramer, The Narrow Edge Deborah Cramer, "Inside the Biomedical Revolution to Save Horseshoe Crabs" in Audubon Magazine  Richard Fortey, Horseshoe Crabs and Velvet Worms Ian Frazier, "Blue Bloods"  in The New Yorker  Lulu Miller's short story, "Me and Jane"  in Catapult Magazine Jerry Gault, "The Most Noble Fishing There Is"  in Charles River's Eureka Magazine or check out Glenn Gauvry's horseshoe crab research database   This episode was reported by Latif Nasser with help from Damiano Marchetti and Lulu Miller, and was produced by Annie McEwen and Matt Kielty with help from Liza Yeager.
