The U.S. is grappling with an air traffic controller shortage that could run into the next decade, reports Edward Russell, editor of Skift publication Airline Weekly. A new Federal Aviation Administration report found the agency is on pace to only have about 200 more controllers in 2032 than it does now. The report also said that planned hiring numbers would barely make up for retirements and others leaving the position. Russell notes the shortage has contributed to flight reductions and aviation safety concerns.  The report also provided recommendations for boosting air traffic controller staffing, including expanding capacity at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.  Next, digital nomad startup Outsite has raised $325 million with the goal of purchasing 150 boutique hotels in Europe, writes Travel Technology Reporter Justin Dawes.  Dawes reports the company is focused on purchasing hotels in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. Outside properties are meant for remote workers looking to book stays between one week and three months. Outside founder Emmanuel Guisset said there's plenty of demand for its properties, but it needs more inventory.  Outside currently has roughly 50 properties in its portfolio around the world.  Finally, Tripadvisor has released a preview of its 2024 study on the Experience of Travel, which revealed the majority of travelers treasure experiences over material objects, writes Travel Experiences Reporter Selene Brophy.  Roughly 67% of travelers surveyed said they place more value on experiences than things. In addition, 95% of travelers said they would reduce discretionary spending in areas such as food or entertainment to fund their travels. Tripadvisor surveyed more than 5,600 travelers from seven countries for the study.

Stonington Cox “Stoney” likes to say that he discovered Coliving by accident. He bought his first condo while still in college and while he loved investing in and improving it, he discovered that living solo sucks, and that life is better lived together with others. So he set an intention to combine his love of investing with his love of people to help create better collaborative housing concepts than those that had come before. The career idea was to learn the investment business working at top tier firms in brokerage, investment banking, merchant banking and private equity at GMAC, Macquarie Capital, Accord Group, and Cadre all the while continuing to explore and refine a thesis around which collaborative living models seemed to work the best. This inquiry led him down paths first in Cohousing (development of for sale condos for pre-formed communities) on the property side and then toward angel investing in pioneering Coliving companies like OpenDoor, Outsite, and Ollie. He is a Board Member for OpenDoor, one of the pioneering Coliving operators based in Oakland and a Senior Advisor to Six Peak Capital, a Coliving focused private equity real estate firm based in New York City. Not that it matters much, but he has degrees from Georgetown, Columbia Business School, and Insead. Currently Stoney spends most of his time as CEO and Founder of Nomos Group Holdings, an advisory and investment firm focused specifically on the Coliving sector with the broad business objective to “Connect Capital to Coliving” ►► Be sure to check out our partner & supporter of The Coliving Code Show, Anyplace: https://bit.ly/AnyplacePartners ♥ ---- Thank you for watching this video—Please SHARE IT and click a quick 'LIKE' or better yet, leave a comment! ---- ♥ ►► Christine and her team are the creators of Kndrd.io: The comprehensive software solution that uses technology to put the LIVING into CoLIVING. ◄ ◄ *Learn more at http://Kndrd.io ----►► Be sure to check out The Coliving Code, is the first comprehensive book published in the COLIVING industry…. This week we're talking about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impacts on coliving businesses. Emmanuel Guisset is the Founder & CEO of Outsite, coliving for those who love to combine work and play. Years ago, he was working hard in Silicon Valley on a Belgium travel tech company, but yearned for that work-life balance of surfing and enjoying time outside. Emmanuel drove down the coast and came across Santa Cruz, which sparked the idea that maybe it was possible to enjoy all that California has to offer. He packed his bags and created a remote office there which, to his surprise, increased his productivity more than ever. He began working from co-working spaces and loved the networking and collaborative spirit it created. Emmanuel realized that this same effect could be created for a flexible living space. From this experience, Outsite was born. Fast-forwarding to now, Outsite has multiple locations across both Northern and Southern California and stays true to its roots of combining productivity and community for passionate individuals. ************ ♥ ---- Thank you for watching this video—Please SHARE IT and leave a comment! We talk to Emmanuel about: - How he ended up starting Outsite and where he got his very first customers from. - Why supply is more challenging than demand in his market, how he finds properties, and what partnerships he does with the property owner. - The growth metrics Emmanuel measures to know if Outsite is successful. Happy Growing!

Hear how she's doing it. Outsite's goal is to give location-independent workers a community and a place that feels like home the minute you walk in the door. I had the chance to sit down with Liz Ribot, cofounder of Outsite, while she was in Lisbon and talk through the vision and how they're executing on it. In this conversation we discuss the origin story of Outsite, the growing trend of coliving, how they're facilitating community, the details and perks of their membership model and more. Subsequent to the recording of this interview I had the opportunity to stay at Outsite and can vouch that it was a clean and productive place with a great community element. Enjoy!

The membership model is a trend in hospitality and travel more generally, but what does it really take to go members only? Scale, distribution, brand, product? On this episode of QuestCast, we have Emmanuel Guisset founder and CEO of Outsite, a boutique co-live / co-work brand now focusing on growth and exclusivity. Emmanuel gives us the rundown of the Outsite business model, how they’ve managed to evade capture by the OTAs including Airbnb, and how to leverage “small” as a strategic advantage in hospitality.

Mundo coworking
¿¡Trabajar en casa!? ¿Cómo es posible?

Mundo coworking

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 12, 2019 10:19

Temas a tratar: Ruidos molestos.

Like many of his peers in the co-living sector, Bay-area native Josh Martin once worked at a traditional company and dreamed of pursuing a more fulfilling career. To break out of what he began to see as a personal plateau, Martin decided to take a position at Remote Year, a program designed for digital nomads who want to travel the world while working remotely. As an employee of an earlier-stage company, he helped make decisions that built Remote Year into the company that it is today. While working at Remote Year, Martin crossed paths with many people from many walks of life, including Emmanuel Guisset, the founder of Outsite, a company that was charting its future at the intersection of co-living and digital nomads. Martin joined the company and has hitched his professional trajectory to the growth of digital nomads
