Chazz Palminteri was at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show with his A Bronx Tale brand. 2023 saw Palminteri team up with Epic Cigars' Dean Parsons and La Casa Grande's Paul DiSilvio for the first A Bronx Tale release. The original Bronx Tale release was a limited edition. This year, Palminteri and company are launching a new line at PCA 2024 – A Bronx Tale Calogero. While it's still being done in conjunction with Parsons and DiSilvo, the big difference is Calogero is a full-time regular production line. PCA 2024 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-svV

Me, Carl Ruiz, Vic Henley and Sherrod Small had the time of our lives on and off the radio show. Our close friendships was on full display. C., Minotti, L., Kahane, P., Navarro, V., Bartolomei, F., Carron, R., Regis, J., Chabardes, S., Palminteri, S., Bastin, J. Abstract: Although the thalamus is supposed to be involved in reinforcement-based decision-making, there is no direct evidence regarding the involvement of this subcortical structure in humans. To fill this gap, we leveraged rare intra-thalamic electrophysiological recordings in patients and found that temporally structured thalamic oscillations encode key learning signals. Our findings also provide neural insight into the computational mechanisms of action inhibition in punishment avoidance learning. Copy rights belong to original authors. Welcome to the Munsons at the Movies podcast. Each episode we delve into the filmography and impact of a randomly selected actor. In this episode, we explore the career of Chazz Palminteri. Best known for his roles as Sonny in A Bronx Tale (1993), Cheech in Bullets Over Broadway (1994), and Dave Kujan in The Usual Suspects (1995), Chazz has built a successful entertainment career playing gangster and law enforcement characters. Joined by first time guests, David and Mark of the Cinema Flavor podcast, we discuss Chazz's early days as a bouncer alongside Dolph Lundgren, his astonishingly bad box office snapshot, James' connection to A Bronx Tale and other Italian staples, and marvel at Chazz's impressive stranglehold on the YouTube algorithm with his podcast. Where does Palminteri rank on the Munson Meter? Listen to find out.
Maine native Dr. Jennifer Palminteri, a pulmonologist with MaineHealth in South Portland, recently discovered the joy of bringing original art into her home. Jen is no stranger to creativity, having–like most of her medical colleagues–engaged in this extensively while responding to the rapidly evolving virus that precipitated a global pandemic. She offers a balanced and reassuring perspective from the front line of medicine. Jen's ability to engage in uncertainty enabled her to fully embrace the art buying process, despite having no background in this area, demonstrating the transferability of skills and mindset that artists in all fields (and professions) are known for. Join our conversation with Dr. Jen Palminteri on today's episode of Radio Maine.

In the tradition set forth in the 1970s by such icons as director Martin Scorsese and actors Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, John Cazale and Joe Pesci, Palminteri has brought grit, muscle and an evocative realism to the sidewalks of his New York neighborhood, violent as they are and were. Chazz was born Calogero Lorenzo Palminteri in 1952 in the Bronx, New York, the son of Rose, a homemaker, and Lorenzo Palminteri, a bus driver. He grew up in a tough area of the Bronx, giving him the life lessons that would later prove very useful to his career. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and started out pursuing his craft in 1973 studying at the Actor's Studio. He appeared off-Broadway in the early 1980s while paying his dues as a bouncer and doorman in nightclubs, among other jobs. In 1986 he headed west and found that his ethnic qualifications was well-suited for getting tough-talker parts. Slick attorneys, unflinching hoods and hard-nosed cops were all part of his ethnic streetwise persona in such TV shows as Wiseguy (1987), Matlock (1986) and Hill Street Blues (1981). In films he started off playing a 1930s-style gangster in Sylvester Stallone's Oscar (1991). Although his roles were sharp, well-acted and with a distinct edge to them, there was nothing in them to show that he was capable of stronger leading parts. In 1988 he wrote for himself a play entitled "A Bronx Tale," a powerful one-man stage commentary in which he depicted his bruising childhood in great detail, which included witnessing gangland slayings. Palminteri brought each and every character to life (18 in all) in this autobiographical piece -- his friends, enemies, even his own family. He showcased for years in both Los Angeles and New York, finally sparking the interest of his film idol, Robert De Niro. DeNiro, wanting to direct for the first time, saw the potential of this project and brought both it and the actor/writer to the screen. Palminteri played one of the flashier roles, Sonny, a gangster, in the movie version. An unknown film commodity at the time, Chazz had stubbornly refused to sell his stage property (the offers went into the seven figures) unless he was part of the package as both actor and screenwriter. DeNiro, who became his mentor, backed him up all the way, and the rest is history. A Bronx Tale (1993), which featured his actress/producer/wife Gianna Palminteri, earned strong reviews. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/otcpod1/support
Dante Palminteri quotes Woody Allan in this podcast with “85% of success is showing up" as an artist that sings, plays guitar, writes songs and is an actor its clear nothing is going to get in the way of this talented and hard working artist to achieve whatever he wants to in life. We talk about his journey with Berklee College of music, studying under Pat Pattison (episode 40) and his obsession and love for John Mayer. His new single Brunette is a lot of fun and in his own words is just the music he wants to create and loves. Raised between the East & West coasts, American singer-songwriter & actor Dante Palminteri matured his musical styling at an early age, inspired by John Mayer's poetic mastery of the human psyche & Ed Sheeran's genre-defying melodies. An early sufferer of anxiety & dyslexia, Dante found solace in the last place one would expect: written word. Dreaming up lyrics on teen heartbreak & defying the status quo, he pursued a career in songwriting, eventually strumming his way into Berklee College of Music. Lyrics about teenage angst & high school crushes soon evolved into complex compilations on unrequited love, soulmates lost & found, & the growing pains of adulthood. Struck by the lyrical prowess of Americana muse Jason Isbell, Dante spent his early twenties reinventing his sound - a combination of his hard rock roots mixed with his contemporary inspirations. Toying between stories of love lost & won, Dante reflects on his own vulnerability, recounting real-life experiences facing rejection & loneliness, alongside heartfelt passion & intimacy. In a bold move, he's bared it all on stages from Feinstein's 54Below & Arlene's Grocery, to Rockwood Music Hall & Bethlehem Musikfest. The winner of the first Shat The Movies Fantasy Premier League season, listener Nick Cobs, chose as his prize one of the biggest "holy crap!" plot twists of the '90s: "The Usual Suspects." We all remember the iconic line-up scene and utterly addictive performances by Benicio del Toro, Kevin Spacey, Chazz Palminteri, and Stephen Baldwin (no, not you Gabriel Byrne). But will the Shat Crew hail Bryan Singer's breakthrough neo-noir flick as a smart, stylish ensemble mystery or dismiss it as the Fedora Guy of movies? Join us as we take another look at the crappy wig, silly heist, gratuitous vengeance, horrible police sketch, and questionable narrators that make "The Usual Suspects" worthy of the Shat treatment. Welcome to Silence Your Phones - a movie review podcast. Each week, Chris Chavez and Shawn Fritz watch a movie and discuss aspects such as cast, acting, writing, music, special effects and more. Before you start listening, remember to Silence Your Phones. On this episode, Chris and Shawn are back to discuss the Chazz Palminteri classic A Bronx Tale. Starring Robert De Niro, Chazz Palminteri, and Joe Pesci, the film is a semi-autobiographical story of Palminteri's experiences growing up in the Bronx, watching local mobsters run the corner, getting into trouble with his friends and witnessing the murder of a man in the street right in front of his home. This event would set into motion a series of events that would teach the boy lessons that would shape his life forever. Find us on the web at BICBP-RADIO.COM

A Bronx Tale (1993), which featured his actress/producer/wife Gianna Palminteri, earned strong reviews. At age 41 Palminteri had become an "overnight" star. Other important projects quickly fell his way. He received a well-deserved Oscar nomination the following year for his portrayal of a Runyonesque hitman in Woody Allen's hilarious jazz-era comedy Bullets Over Broadway (1994). He was on the right side of the law in both The Perez Family (1995), his first romantic lead, and then the classic crimer The Usual Suspects (1995). He played the ill-fated brute in Diabolique (1996) and wrote a second screenplay, Faithful (1996), in which he again plays a hitman, terrorizing both Cher and Ryan O'Neal.Though Palminteri was invariably drawn into a rather tight-fitting, often violent typecast, it has been a secure and flashy one that continues to run strong into the millennium. Surprisingly, the one obvious show he missed out on was HBO's The Sopranos (1999). True to form his trademark flesh-lipped snarl was spotted in gritty urban settings playing a "Hell's Kitchen" cop in One-Eyed King (2001) starring actor/producer Armand Assante; a pool hustler and mentor in Poolhall Junkies (2002); a mob boss in In the Fix (2005); a dirty cop in Running Scared (2006); the titular scam artist as Yonkers Joe (2008); a karaoke-loving Italian psychiatrist in Once More with Feeling (2009); and an abusive husband and father in Mighty Fine (2012).Other millennium filming includes starring presences in Body Armour (2007), The Dukes (2007), the title conman as Yonkers Joe (2008), Once More with Feeling (2009), and Mighty Fine (2012), as well as prime, supports in Running Scared (2006), A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006), Push (2006), Jolene (2008), Once Upon a Time in Queens (2013), Legend (2015), Vault (2019), Clover (2020). TV crime continues to occupy his time as well, clocking in such series' credits as Kojak (2005), Rizzoli & Isles (2010), and Godfather of Harlem (2019). Occasionally he will lighten up -- as in his recurring role as Shorty on the popular sitcom Modern Family (2009).CONNECT WITH CHAZZ & LISTEN TO HIS PODCAST: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chazzpalminteri/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100044149433522 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9-sgcuDI-X9lbYt9PC3Bag Podcast: http://hyperurl.co/ChazzPalminteriShow Website: https://chazzpalminteri.net/pages/podcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/chazzpalminteri Follow The Story Box on Social MediaINSTAGRAM ► - https://www.instagram.com/thestoryboxpodcast/ TWITTER ► - https://twitter.com/jay_fantom FACEBOOK ► - https://www.facebook.com/thestoryboxpodcast WEBSITE ► - https://thestoryboxpodcast.com/SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE! Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.07.28.224642v1?rss=1 Authors: Bavard, S., Rustichini, A., Palminteri, S. Abstract: Converging evidence suggests that economic values are rescaled as a function of the range of the available options. Critically, although locally adaptive, range adaptation has been shown to lead to suboptimal choices. This is particularly striking in reinforcement learning (RL) situations when options are extrapolated from their original context. Range adaptation can be seen as the result of an adaptive coding process aiming at increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. However, this hypothesis leads to a counterintuitive prediction: decreasing outcome uncertainty should increase range adaptation and, consequently, extrapolation errors. Here, we tested the paradoxical relation between range adaptation and performance in a large sample of subjects performing variants of a RL task, where we manipulated task difficulty. Results confirmed that range adaptation induces systematic extrapolation errors and is stronger when decreasing outcome uncertainty. Finally, we propose a range-adapting model and show that it is able to parsimoniously capture all the observed results. Copy rights belong to original authors. Visit the link for more info

Marta On The Move Podcast- Hosted by Marta Napoleone Mazzoni
#132 Actor Chazz Palminteri talks about his musical A Bronx Tale When I was younger, being Italian and having an older brother mean that I got to watch movies I never would have gotten away with at my age. Namely, a good bit of gangster themed flicks. One name I grew up watching was "Chazz" Palminteri. You knew his voice before you even saw him on screen (A credit to a good bit of his voice over work). Chazz starred in some of my favorites from the 90's- Analyze This, Mulholland Drive, Jade, Diabolique, and one of all time top 10- The Usual Suspects. But one movie spoke volumes when I was younger about a father, and the mob boss who influenced his son back in the 60's in the Bronx. The film was called A Bronx Tale, and Chazz Palminteri played Sonny the mob boss, starring opposite Robert De Niro. Unlike other gangster films of the 90's- Casino, Goodfellas, Mobsters, just to name a few, A Bronx Tale spoke about interracial love as well as the conflict between father and son. I had no idea at that time, or years to come that Chazz Palminteri wrote A Bronx Tale. Also that the film was based off of his one man play, and that play was based off a murder Chazz witnessed as a 9 year old boy growing up on Belmont Ave. It was only until I found out that I scored an interview with the famed actor that took me down a spiral into his life, and how close he is to his work. In fact almost 90's of the movie is based off of Chazz's life. Back when Chazz wrote the play and performed it as a one man show playing all 18 of the characters, he got a visit from none other than Robert De Niro in his dressing room. De Niro asked Chazz if he could direct the movie version of A Bronx Tale. Chazz asked if he could play Sonny and away they went with Chazz as the mob boss and De Niro playing the father. Together in the movie they played perfectly off of one another. Years later they co wrote together "A Bronx Tale the Musical". With music by Alan Menkin the show is now in touring and will be showing in my hometown of Pittsburgh at the Benedum Center for the Arts on November 19th to the 24th. Join me as I chat with chazz about growing up Italian in the Bronx, his career, working with De Niro, cooking, family, and his work in this show that speak volumes even today in our society. I haven't seen A Bronx Tale yet at the Benedum Center but I plan on being there when it runs in November to witness one of childhood favorites brought to life through music and dancing on stage. Big thanks to Buzzy Torek at Epicast and Brett Zoric for helping out with the audio edits on this one! You guys are the best! This episode is sponsored by Games Unlimited my go to place for choosing a puzzle, game, for my next quality time. When the idea first came up, nobody -- and by nobody we mean Steve -- thought it could possibly work. Chazz Palminteri was a career character actor with modest name recognition next to the likes of, say, Holly Madison, and his plan was to bring a serious autobiographical one-man play to the Strip? Fuggedaboutit. But Palminteri has faced down doubts about "A Bronx Tale" before, and here he is now in the middle of a two-week run at the Venetian that has been extended by popular demand. Palminteri joined us live at the 2009 Vegas Podcast-A-Palooza to discuss the show, his friendship with Frank Sinatra and the chronological problem in his play that only three people have ever asked him about in 20 years. In Banter: Rating the Garth deal, revealing some new slot machine ideas coming to G2E.Blog: VegasHappensHere.ComTwitter: @TheStripPodcastEmail: TheStripPodcast@aol.comPhone: 206-424-4737Site: TheStripPodcast.Com
