In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks to the Chief Executive Officer of EmergeLabs, Brad Hunter. As software development continues to evolve, there is no doubt that AI is playing an increasingly important role. But what impact does it have on the industry? Brad Hunter, the President and Founder of EmergeLabs, shares his thoughts in a recent podcast episode. According to Brad, AI can be a valuable tool in software development, especially for chat GPT, which can quickly solve problems. However, he notes that AI is not taking over the industry, as some may believe. While it can assist with coding, it cannot replace the need for human expertise and a holistic approach to software development. Brad emphasizes the importance of taking a balanced approach to software development, combining technical skills with a broader understanding of business operations. This allows development teams to create a successful end product considering the client's entire business and long-term strategy. In addition to his insights on AI, Brad also highlights the importance of communication when working with development teams. He suggests that communicating directly with the developers can help avoid misunderstandings and frustration. Over-communicating in the beginning stages of a project is also crucial to ensure that everyone is on the same page. About Brad Hunter: Brad is a skilled professional who solves complex problems through highly-customized software solutions. With expertise in wireless, agriculture, and healthcare industries, Brad's team assists clients in retaking control of their core businesses. They develop scalable software solutions tailored to specific requirements, ensuring user-friendliness and delivering a positive return on investment (ROI) within a few years. Brad's notable projects include Carrier Insight, a solution designed for a 500-location wireless carrier. By leveraging automation, this software replaced an outdated and labour-intensive commission reconciliation process, resulting in over $3 million in annual savings and widespread adoption by 2,500 Verizon locations. About EmergeLabs: EmergeLabs is a client-centric software development company. Direct communication between clients and the entire team eliminates the communication breakdown often seen in conventional project management. The firm boasts an experienced team skilled in developing SaaS platforms and custom solutions, employing a unique methodology prioritizing frequent interaction with clients to keep projects on track. Quality assurance is integral to their service, with rigorous testing procedures guaranteeing a bug-free, secure, and user-friendly product. Their software solutions are scalable and future-proof, designed to adapt to evolving market trends and technological advancements, promoting cost-effectiveness. Over ten years ago, an idea that captured our imagination was that software is eating the world. Well, software may not have eaten the automobile, but it is certainly transforming it in very profound ways. The modern car is incredibly complex - not just from a hardware perspective, but also from a software point of view. Today's software-defined vehicle is made up of numerous subsystems, each run by its own code; hundreds of sensors generating tonnes of data every second; and a number of vehicle functions now automated to a large degree. So how does this all work together? We invited Sarah Tatsis, SVP of IVY Platform Development at BlackBerry to help us understand exactly how. In this episode of the AI in Automotive Podcast, Sarah unpacks the automotive software stack for us - from the foundational operating system software that helps various subsystems communicate with each other, to middleware that uses machine learning models to turn sensor data into actions, to application software on top that will help your car do amazing things like pay for your coffee in the future. I thought my cutting-edge new car was smart, but what stuck out most for me through this conversation is the huge amount of headroom available yet for our cars to get smarter and more connected to the world around us. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Sarah. If you do, please do share the AI in Automotive Podcast with your colleagues who might enjoy it as well.https://www.ai-in-automotive.com/aiia/201/sarahtatsisAI in Automotive Podcast

As an independent educator you're going to end up wearing a lot of hats. Development, marketing, support, on top of the work that goes into actually producing the content. All of it is essential though if your goal is to actually reach people and help teach them something that's relevant to their goals.A part of that is finding out what to actually teach. It can sometimes be a challenge finding something that is interesting to you but also relevant to the audience that you've grown. Jorge Vergara has found that it's very effective to ask your audience what they're working on and some of the problems they've been struggling with. Asking directly if they'd like a course on X subject might get you enthusiasm but it doesn't actually tell you what they need. The development side of things is huge too if you aren't outsourcing the platform. It can be very difficult to balance working on it with actually producing content, especially if you have a full-time job. There's more value to working on your platform than just setting up a place where learners can watch your videos. You have opportunities to work with and gain practical expertise on technology that you are wanting to teach. You also get full control of the learning experience. In the end, It really is up to you to weigh the trade-offs and decide what will work best for your needs.LinksTwitter - Jorge VergaraWebsite - Jorge Vergara30x500

Key Takeaways: Streamline Your Logistics Operations Sreenivas (Sreeni) Vemulapalli is Associate Vice President at Emtec Digital, a global technology services company providing digital software engineering and transformation services to some of the leading transportation and logistics companies across the world. In the podcast interview, Sreeni and Joe discuss how to streamline your logistics operations. Sreeni and the Emtec Digital team work with dozens of top logistics, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, and freight tech companies on a variety of technology projects, but the interview was mostly focused on digital automation using robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent process automation (IPA). Artificial intelligence is a part of intelligent automation. Intelligent automation is the intersection between rule-based, relatively inflexible robotic process automation (RPA) with the adaptive learning and decision-making capabilities of artificial intelligence. While the technology is not easily understandable for non-techies, RPA and IPA are affordable, easily implemented and widely used by the top transportation and logistics companies. To stay competitive in the increasingly tech-centric logistics and transportation space, companies should consider investing in IPA and RPA – the return on investment is very attractive, which is why so many companies are taking the plunge. In the interview, Sreeni described how companies are using RPA and IPA to streamline the following logistics operations: Tracking and tracing Freight quotations Appointment scheduling Document management including proof of delivery, bill of lading, accessorial, etc. Once an operation is automated using RPA and IPA, the operation is performed faster, better, and less expensively - and it frees up your team to focus on higher value work. Emtec develops digital products or platforms that are customer facing – products that have the ability to delight customers and give your company a competitive advantage. Emtec is a global technology services company providing digital software engineering and transformation solutions to clients in logistics, transportation, and warehousing. Emtec also works some of the leading technology companies in the freight tech space.
