Today I'm joined by Richard McDonald. Richard and his wife, Aly McDonald, own Colorado Vintners and Cliff Dweller Wine. Their newest venture, Grand Valley Enology, is an on-site wine lab that provides juice and wine chemistry analysis to grape growers and winemakers in the Grand Valley. Richard's goal is to provide lab services for everyone, from commercial wineries to home winemakers, to improve the overall quality of wine coming out of the Grand Valley and to save everyone some money along the way. Richard has had an expansive career in the wine industry, working all over the world in some of the top wineries and vineyards. We chat about his experiences working around the globe, why he and Aly decided to open a winery and lab in Palisade after all that, and the best things about owning a winery in a relatively young wine region. Richard also expands on why he wanted to start a wine lab, why it's important to have a local lab resource, and what he and Aly are getting into next. Pregnant, 22, and labeled a “baby killer,” Kristine was still reeling from the death of her son as she headed to prison to begin her 60-year sentence. In Part 2, Kristine walks us through how she overcame insurmountable odds as she fought for and gained her freedom.About Kristine...Kristine Bunch spent more than 17 years behind bars after she was arrested and charged with setting a fire that claimed the life of her three-year-old son, Anthony. Although a defense expert testified that the fire was accidental, two experts for the prosecution testified that an accelerant was used and therefore the fire was arson. Jurors believed the prosecution witnesses and found Kristine, then 22 and pregnant, guilty of murder and arson. She was sentenced to concurrent prison terms of 60 years for murder and 50 years for arson. 17 years later Kristine walked out of prison, and in 2012, the prosecution dropped all charges against her. During her incarceration, Kristine earned degrees in English and Anthropology. This week on the Richard Crouse Show we meet Keala Settle. If you were a fan of the musical The Greatest Showman, starring Hugh Jackman, and who wasn't?... then you'll know her as the powerhouse voice behind the Academy Award nominated song This is Me. Today, we'll talk about why she had such a difficult time singing that song, a brain disease she says has changed her life and we'll find out all about her new project, Murder in Provence, a new detective series now available on BritBox that investigates the murders, mysteries, and dark underbelly of the idyllic area in the south of France. Then we meet actor, woodworker and author Nick Offerman. If you have been watching “Pam & Tommy” you know my next guest as Uncle Miltie, porn producer and all-round scumbag. Or maybe you know his role in “The Founder,” in which he portrays Richard McDonald, one of the brothers who developed the fast-food chain McDonald's. You absolutely know him as Ron Swanson, the mustachioed, libertarian guy in the corner office on the hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation.” This weekend he'll co-host the “37th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards” with Megan Mullally, who also happens to be his wife.

S2 E66 Bob Reid; Born and raised in Dunedin, NZ, Bob's band scored a minor 'hit' on local Dunedin radio in 1978. They released a further two singles on their own label with one song reaching the national NZ top 5 for several weeks. The band Toured NZ extensively, including with 'Split Enz' in 1979 for their "Wiata" album promotion, which was sold in Australia as "Corroboree" They also played at the 'Sweetwaters Festival' on opening night to an estimated 80,000 audience. The band moved to Sydney in 1980 and played the NSW scene for about a year before Bob departed and joined legendary guitarist, Karl Taylor, (Buffalo) in a new band called 'The Sharks'. They recorded an album at Alberts Studio but sadly it was never released. When Bob eventually left The Sharks and moved to South Australia, after receiving a non musical job offer, he ceased playing altogether for a few years (after his drum kit was stolen), until hooking up with his old (NZ) bass player who also lived in SA. They formed a new band called 'Eat your lips off' (with the late James Skedd on bass), and gigged around Adelaide in the late 1980s. This lineup also included his long time friend and super guitarist, Mick Randell. Let it Roll followed several years later, the band gigged around Adelaide for about six years. Members included Ronny Davidson (Hawkins Band), Mick Randell (guitar) and keyboardist Richard McDonald, among others. Let it Roll performed a show called 'The History of Rhythm and Blues' which Bob co-wrote, at several Adelaide Fringe Festivals, always to sell-out crowds and very good reviews. Let it Roll broke up around 2015 and Bob and Mick then hooked up with bass player/singer Shane Hilton to form the 3-piece power-blues band Blueprint. They gigged around Adelaide for four years until Shane took a break to complete studies etc. Bob and Mick then joined forces with singer/bass player Ron Kosmider and Graeme Hollis (keys) to form Doctor Pocket. Both Doctor Pocket and Blue Print are currently active. Bob is also involved with a few indigenous music projects with local artists Sonny Keeler, Uncle Eddie Peters and Melbourne songwriter, Robert Champion. Bob's lifelong interest in drums developed into a part time business called 'DrumClinic', which started when he acquired a vintage drum kit sometime in the late 1990s. One kit led to others and since that time he has amassed a decent collection of vintage instruments. Bob is known locally as 'Mr Ludwig'. Bob specializes in restoration, repairs, refurbishment and a little teaching. Bob produced a book on tuning drums in 2013, which he launched at the former iconic music store John Reynolds Music City. Music: Intro "Band It About" theme song, which was written and recorded for the BAND IT ABOUT - Podcast Series by Catherine Lambert & Michael Bryant (Mitzy). Outro: 'Dr Pocket' performing their version of the 2003 'Keb' Mo' song "Dangerous Mood". The audio was recorded during the Adelaide Roots & Blues Association (ARBA) Friday Night Live Series, and streamed to Facebook to enable local Blues and Roots bands to perform for their fans during Covid-19 lockdown's and restrictions. A leader's ability to make a meaningful difference rises and falls with the quality of their presence. Presence dictates how much of our mental, emotional, and physical talents are available to us at a given moment. By presence, we do not mean charisma; we mean awareness. This awareness improves insight and action, but a lack of awareness assures that you are not fully connected to yourself, to reality, or to others—dangerous territory for a leader. In this episode, Emma Rose is joined by Richard McDonald and Roger Henderson, two of Conversant's resident “presence gurus.” They talk about why presence matters, practical ways to support greater presence in your professional and personal lives, and why it's a critical ingredient to healthy relationships, both at the office and at home. The pandemic has seen the rise of food delivery services like Demae-Can, which lets restaurants try their hand at “fast food.” Yet what would this business model be without the original outlets that shaped our tastes in fast-food establishments? In particular, let's look at the most successful chain of them all, McDonald's. In 1948, brothers Maurice and Richard McDonald opened McDonald's Bar-B-Que in San Bernardino, California. Initially a barbecue joint, it soon switched its focus to hamburgers and shortened its name to McDonald's. By 1952, it had gone full “fast food,” spreading out its seating and turning down its heating to encourage customer movement. That same year, it established the famous “golden arches” logo and its first franchise. McDonald's success caught the eye of salesman Ray Kroc, who helped establish franchises on the East Coast and founded the McDonald's Corporation in 1955. He also implemented the Sonneborn Model of ownership, in which McDonald's owns the lands that franchises are built on. In 1961, Kroc bought out the McDonald's brothers. He improved the McDonald's brand through advertising, introducing mascot Ronald McDonald in 1963. (Jasmin Hayward) To be continued… This article was provided by The Japan Times Alpha.

Thanks to SRAA contributor Dan Robinson for these notes and audio of Radio KahuziRadio Kahuzi, a U.S.-funded religious station located in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo has been heard by DX'ers in a number of countries since the mid-2000's and had been in operation since the 1990s. It was founded by U.S. evangelist Richard McDonald and his wife Kathleen, and was most easily heard via Europe-based SDRs, signing off at anywhere between 1800 and 1830 UTC. In 2019, the station began to be heard more frequently on its 6,210.20 khz frequency — but was impacted by frequent power outages in the national electricity company of the DRC. In 2020, Radio Kahuzi was still being heard by DX'ers using European SDR sites, with certain locations such as Switzerland, UK, and Sweden bringing the best signals. I did a number of comparison videos showing reception of Kahuzi at these various locations. Interestingly, propagation conditions were such that Kahuzi's signal had a very rapid rise from about 1700 UTC through to its sign off time around 1800 to 1830 UTC, and was often mistaken by some listeners as a European pirate signal in the 48 meter band. In February 2020, Richard McDonald reported that power had been increased from 500 to 750 watts with reception in Bukavu 1/4 to 1/2 stronger, adding that they hoped the 750 watt level could be maintained “unless problems develop.” He also said the station had just installed a new digital studio. In April 2020, McDonald reported problems with lightning strikes in the area with intermittent power issues. McDonald noted that the station had been hoping to begin distance education as the COVID-19 situation was beginning to have impacts: “We are the only radio that can reach all the 8 territories and local schools.” As of mid-May 2020, Radio Kahuzi remained off the air as DX'ers held out hope that Kahuzi would return to the air. In an email, Richard McDonald reported “complications” regarding the power schedule of the regional power company saying he was hoping RK can get back on the air “between 8 AM to 7 PM”. Here is one of the best recordings of Radio Kahuzi, which took place using the SDR site in Ticino, Switzerland — the station has a unique sign off, playing an instrumental version of a Bluegrass song.
