My guest in this week's Book Club podcast is Chris Ware — author of Jimmy Corrigan, Building Stories and Rusty Brown, and a man widely regarded as one of the greatest living cartoonists. Chris's new book, The Acme Novelty Datebook Volume Three, opens his sketchbooks for public consumption: a potentially painful move for an artist as self-conscious and perfectionist as Ware. He tells me a bit about the relationship between cartooning and architecture, what he's trying to do with his graphic novels, the importance of R Crumb and Art Spiegelman to his work, and what gave him the confidence to turn his back on fine art.

Making a Scene Presents Gerry Casey's Interview with Rusty Brown of Electric MaryAfter spending time at Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios in New York in 2003, The spark was ignited inside Rusty to go back in time and create something new from the ashes of the rock'n'roll that still lived inside him .. As our heroes enter the 39th episode of the greatest podcast in human history, they are reminded of the significance of the number 39. Once worn and forever immortalised by the Wizard Capper as he ascended to the lofty heights never before reached while perfectly resting his cock n balls on the heads of those opposed. Thankfully the simulation's programming allows for the ongoing self admiration that this gathering inspires. This week Tony and Warwick are joined by the incredible rock outfit 'Her' along with Karly Jewell and Rusty Brown for and evening of the same 11 jokes, great music and pointless hilarity that will drive you to your destination faster than a 1 star UberSo strap on your favourite appendage, smile awkwardly and pretend it never happened, as you once more conspire to be by our side in longing embrace. EP12 - Tom Keegan - Flesh Dance - The Ballad Of Van Der SnootAfter a promising ice hockey career falls flat on its face, Conner Van Der Snoot spends his evenings working as Bouncer on the Canadian club circuit. Sure, Conner might have a tough guy exterior, but deep down he just wants to rip off his hi-vis and dance. Coincidentally, ex-gangster Rusty Brown has just been released from prison after 25 years and sets up the male-performing dance club ‘Nothing Butt Men' and is holding auditions to find the next big thing. Can Conner's ice hockey skill and snake hips make him the dance success he's always wanted to be or will he be skating on thin ice in an AllMadeUp story like you've never heard before. Thanks for listening and if you've enjoyed it, please give it a share or tell someone about it. It makes a massive difference! Cheers! Residents in a Bay of Plenty town are fed up with their rusty brown tap water, which is nasty to drink, dirties washing and causes skin irritations for some. Kawerau locals have taken to social media sharing their anger, along with pictures of the state of their water. And as Ashleigh McCaull reports, the town's mayor is now calling on the Government for help to clear up the problem.
In honor of MLK day, we're reading KING - Ho Che Anderson's critically acclaimed unauthorized graphic biography of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. But we ALSO decided to read GODHEAD, another book by Anderson, which tells a near future capitalist tale that juxtaposes the white corporate and black urban experience against a sci-fi backdrop of...finding God? Ho Che Anderson is a London Born, creator of Jamaican heritage living in Toronto, and he brings a pretty unique perspective to the handful of independent comics he's created over the years - likely informed the sensibilities of who his parents named him after - Ho Chi Minh + Che Guevara - so it was no surprise to see such an unusual premise Godhead, and somewhat stark, contrarian and unflinchingly honest take on a civil rights icon like Martin Luther King Junior While most folks usually only know five words about the Civil Rights movement ("Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King") - the graphic novel KING focuses on not just the larger than life legend, but the man and all his flaws along his journey and how people had a VERY polarized view of him back then. And GODHEAD, well Ryan will have to explain that one to you - but it incorporates the class, race, robots, Babel, espionoage, and ultimately pulls a Rusty Brown....

This week our heroes returned from a Top Secret Mission into space where they travelled at 39% the speed of light for exactly 6 seconds and then returned safely to Earth. According to relativity, the rest of the world aged by 7 days while Tony & the Wiz are only 6 seconds older than they were in episode 12, and it shows through their immaturity on this episode.Joined by two supremely talented beings in Karly Jewell & Rusty Brown, both Tony & Warwick have once again proven that if you pair one of the finest bald heads in Australia with the first million dollar player in the AFL, have them assisted by a person so lazy he barely manages to keep up his reputation as a chronic masturbator, then you have a recipe for success. So sit back in in your papasan chair while wearing your favorite Zro Fux T-Shirt, whip out the hand sanitiser so you don't spread any more germs and carefully insert Episode 13 of the T-Wiz Podcast so far in your most convenient orifice that you will never get it out.
