In this episode, Steve Fretzin and John Ross discuss:Differentiating yourself in your marketing.Client engagement and communication.Networking outside of other lawyers and reciprocating referrals.Hiring a marketer to do what you were doing to build your brand and business. Key Takeaways:If you're doing the exact same thing as everyone else, you will not be noticed.Being broke will force ingenuity. You don't need a lot of money to get out there, get noticed by your client, and bring in those you can and want to serve.Look for ways you and your networking partners can both benefit, even if it isn't additional clients. There are creative ways you can do marketing where you don't have to spend anything (and may make money from it!) if you look for what works for your firm and not just try and do what others are doing. "I can't go out and meet every potential client. But if I go out and meet a CPA, then I can effectively meet all of their clients. And if we have the same clients, then I'm accomplishing that goal. I can identify who else my clients were dealing with, and then go out there and meet those people, impress them, and often look for ways that I could also benefit them." —  John Ross Thank you to our Sponsors!Overture: https://overture.law/Moneypenny: https://www.moneypenny.com/us/Get Visible: https://www.getvisible.com/ Episode References: Huberman Lab: https://hubermanlab.com/ About John Ross: Raised in South Texas, John Ross graduated from San Marcos High School. In a video posted to social media, San Marcos High School teacher Alissa Piro admonishes a student for asking why there is not a white student union club, arguing that it’s racist to have clubs limited to racial identity while also excluding white people from having their own club, too. The Georgia boycott threats from the left escalated this week with the announcement that the Will Smith runaway slave thriller, “Emancipation,” will no longer be filming in the Peach State. More than 100 corporate leaders met on a mega-conference call Saturday in order to coordinate opposition to changes in state voting laws like the ones made in Georgia. I will discuss these topics and more, over the course of the broadcast. Today's scheduled guests are Ron Edwards and Dan Perkins.

Bio: From Paige: "I was born and raised in San Diego! I've always loved running from a young age and it was always something I did for fun growing up. My Dad and my brother were both runners and I looked up to them a lot so I think my interest for the sport started there. I competed in lots of track meets in elementary school but I started youth xc/track in 7th grade and that’s when I really fell in love with the competitive aspect of the sport. I ran xc/track at San Marcos High School where I learned a lot about discipline, dedication, and how to have fun with the sport. My teammates there are people who I consider my life long friends now and my memories running in high school are ones I will cherish forever. I was lucky enough to earn a spot on the UCLA xc/track team and am currently in my 3rd year here. I've run 21:10 across the 6k, 4:52 in the mile, and 2:13 in the 800. Here, I have learned the importance of consistency, loving the process, and rolling with the punches. I am so grateful for my time here at UCLA and am wishing that it will never end! Most recently I've started an Instagram account called Usually On The Run where I am working towards creating a community around distance running, as it’s played such a special role in my life. I love to be involved within the sport wherever I can whether that’s working youth track camps over summer, coaching kids, meeting up with runners from all around, or staying educated within the sport."
