Tim and Mary Danielsen take apart some current headlines today, further cementing the notion that our worldview matters when it comes to discerning the times. First up, we look at the UN and their age-old longing to tax the life out of all of us and call it a world government. It takes money to run the world, and they intend to fund it to the hilt. Next we look at the topic of the Third Temple, and those who want to take it by force - vs those who simply know with confidence that it will be in God's timing. A recent video circulating has the Arab world a bit upset, we will talk about that. Also on the agenda, the IMF is having a confab, they and the World Bank are also longing for complete control. We discuss the latest nonsense from Christianity Today magazine, a long time rag that seems more and more confused as to what "Christianity" actually is. They might just go the way of the iconic Christian bookstore before long. We summarize the late pope's beliefs; the Days of Lot; and stories the media is ignoring. It's week 4 of our special Saturday podcast where our political insiders break down what the biggest federal election stories actually mean for the campaign. This week, former Justin Trudeau adviser Laura D'Angelo, former Harper government staffer Michael Solberg and former Alberta NDP strategist Zain Velji give us a debates debrief. As the frontrunner in the polls, Liberal leader Mark Carney faced attacks from all sides -- how did he perform in his first two debates? And how many points did the other leaders score?Off-camera, tension behind the scenes threatened to overshadow the debates themselves -- and our panel has thoughts on how the Leaders Debates Commission handled the situation.Plus: another round of under-the-radar election stories you won't hear on our TV program.
There is no second guessing this one. No, "what if's?" The Eagles were so much better than the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 it was shocking as America watched, and likely cheered, stunned at what they were seeing. The better team won. Easily. Yes, this was always possible just like any game you play. And it's as good of a lesson for the fans as it is the team. The side shows at the game WERE the show because the game was dreadful. Trump jumped in like Trump does and hits Taylor Swift hard. Speaking of meltdowns, a loud group of KU fans have lost their collective minds as they are livid with Bill Self and longing for a new coach after K-State whipped the Hawks in Manhattan Saturday. This is next level lunacy. Trump sits down with Brett Baier of Fox News before the big game and we'll share our two favorite Super Bowl commercials.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop have announced that the Government will host an international investment summit for around 100 high-profile investors, business leaders, and construction companies from around the world. The summit will be held on March 13 and 14, and aims to "highlight partnership opportunities for overseas investment". Following the announcement, Luxon faced questions from the media about ACT Party leader David Seymour driving a Land Rover up the steps of Parliament, to which he responded "I'm not interested in those political sideshows". He was also questioned about Seymours letter in support of Philip Polkinghorne, and the Cook Islands - China deal. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Trunk Boiz is a collective of rappers, producers, singers, and dancers from Oakland who are best known for their regional hit "Cupcake No Fillin." Co-founded by cousins F.A. Tha Jefe and B*Janky, the group got their start recording songs on a home studio, burning CDs, and distributing tens of thousands of mixtapes throughout the Bay Area. They captured the electrifying energy of the Bay during the hyphy movement with songs like "Scraper Bike" that highlighted Oakland's unique culture. Taking advantage of YouTube in its early stages, their music videos were some of the first to go viral. Almost 20 years later, with Kendrick Lamar paying direct homage to them in his "squabble up" video, Trunk Boiz are planning on keeping their legacy going and continuing to make noise in the Bay Area. -- For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com -- History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aa Online Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlA Instagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_one TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_one Twitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_one Facebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone415 00:00 Intro 04:07 First studios 07:05 Oakland influences 11:07 Forming the group, first mixtapes 20:09 Other members 22:58 The Hyphy Movement 27:49 Sideshows 31:53 Turning down record deals 36:40 Scraper Bikes 49:01 Kendrick Lamar 53:03 Cupcake No Fillin 1:02:31 E-40 & Too Short “B*tch” Remix 1:13:17 Industry setbacks 1:22:43 Thoughts on current Bay music --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/historyofthebay/support

Donald Trump continues to create unnecessary controversy for his campaign, most recently by snuggling up to right wing provocateur Laura Loomer. Republicans are fed up with the sideshows, and they are starting to express their frustration with Trump's nonsensical style. The Trump campaign is now scrambling to distance themselves from Loomer, but it is likely a little too late. Also, Republican Senator and Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance went on CNN and was confronted about his lies of Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs. Instead of actually addressing the question, Vance started ranting about Harris's immigration policies, and host Dana Bash repeatedly tried to pull him back to the topic at hand. That's when Vance went off the rails and started attacking Bash and tried to create a false equivalency between his interview and the one she did with Harris and Walz. And out of nowhere this past weekend, Donald Trump sent out a post on Truth Social that simply said "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT." This attack came many days after the musician had endorsed Kamala Harris for President, and Trump was apparently stewing on it for nearly a week before he made the post. But his own fans weren't happy about it, and they begged the convicted felon to remove the post and not pick a fight with Swift and her fans. Finally, the chief political correspondent for The Washington Post, Dan Balz, said over the weekend that Donald Trump is very clearly losing his grip on reality. While Trump has never had a firm grasp on what is real and what isn't, his recent campaign struggles have sent him spiraling further into a world of conspiracy theories and make believe, which only hurts his campaign even more. There is no coming back from where Trump has now gone.Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FarronBalancedTwitter: https://twitter.com/farronbalancedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/farronbalancedTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@farronbalanced?lang=enText and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!

With more side shows happening in KC over the weekend, is there a way to stop the illegal activity from continuing to occur?
Last year, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors passed a law that criminalized spectating at the sideshows — the wildly dangerous illegal stunt driving exhibitions that have plagued Oakland and other cities for decades. The move comes as local jurisdictions attempt to curtail the outlaw events that have real costs: damage to infrastructure, injuries to participants and spectators, and increasingly, violence. A sideshow following a Juneteenth celebration near Oakland's Lake Merritt erupted into a mass shooting that wounded 14. But will arresting those just there to watch the spectacle help? Our guest today, Oaklandside reporter Jose Fermoso, says no, and joined a lawsuit led by the First Amendment Coalition to challenge Alameda County's sideshow law. Fermoso covers traffic issues, and has dug deep into sideshows, the culture they evolved from, and their cost to the community. The new law prevents him from reporting directly on sideshows himself, and criminalizes anyone who might have footage that could help his reporting - or the police. Several sideshows erupted early Sunday morning, including one in Oakland outside the Grand Lake Theater and two in San Francisco, with one by the Ferry Building. No arrests were made in connection with these incidents. For more, KCBS Radio news anchors Eric Thomas and Margie Shafer spoke with KCBS Insider Phil Matier. It was a memorable Rome derby for the sideshow drama, as Gianluca Mancini scored the winning goal and carried on with the curva sud in the afters, and Paulo Dybala reminded Matteo Guendouzi of their respective international exploits. Inter earned a stoppage time win at Udinese with a Davide Frattesi goal to set up a potential Scudetto win in the Milan derby. Rumours abound the happiness (or lack thereof) in the Juventus dressing room and Max Allegri's job despite a win over Fiorentina. Claudio Ranieri continues to get every drop out of Cagliari win yet another late late show in a come-from-behind win over Atalanta. Does Atalanta have the tools to get past Liverpool in their Europa League quarter final tie? Milan easily overcame Lecce ahead of their own Italian derby with Roma in the Europa League. Today, hyphy music has been out of the spotlight for about a decade, but it's still inspiring the audio and visual culture in the songs we hear today and the TV we watch. This episode of Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement explores other aspects of hyphy—from its car and cycling cultures to how its depicted in today's films—how the Hyphy babies continue to champion the sound and perhaps why other regions are able to capitalize on the hyphy aesthetic and sound more so than its hometown. Host Branden LSK speaks to rappers LaRussell and P-Lo, CMG of the Conscious Daughters, No Cielings podcast host Glasses Malone and more. Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement is a production of the Red Bulletin magazine. Tune into the Spotify playlist with the same namesake, for songs curated by Branden LSK.
In this episode, Chrisha and Catherine look into the theme of mirrors and misdirection, which is particularly prevalent in this episode but has been a running theme throughout the series. They also examine the parallels this episode has with multiple episodes of Supernatural, which all look at the temptation of peace and happiness vs. facing the difficulty of real life and its associated difficulties and traumas! A big chunk of the episode dives into the background imagery of sideshows and includes a discussion of othering, autonomy, and what visual messaging the audience might have been given. Today, I'm joined by Roy Miles, aka Ghetto Geppetto, a filmmaker, motion graphics artist, puppet maker and puppeteer, toymaker, and animation artist. On top of his impressive resume, Roy is also a former student of mine who stands out as one of the most creative people that I've had the pleasure of working with. Roy has an animated universe called “Hoodland'' that's somewhat of a West Coast version of Sesame Street. Growing up in the 70s and 80s in East Oakland, Roy looks back fondly on his childhood of biking around the city with his friends and experiencing the liveliness of different neighborhoods. In our conversation, he describes how he draws on those memories to create the multidimensional characters and storylines in the Hoodland series. Even though we can laugh at some of Oakland's unique qualities and reflect on the rich history and culture of the city, there's no denying how gun violence and disparity have deeply impacted the community. Roy looks back on how he leaned into his creative practice to cope with depression after his wife and children were caught in the crossfire of a shooting. He also explains why he's not planning on leaving Oakland. Craig Rucker, co-founder and President of CFACT joins Jacki to give a debrief of the action at COP27, the latest U.N. climate conference (Sharm-al-Sheik, Egypt…which some have dubbed “Sharm-al-Shakedown”). CFACT has attended 24 of 27 international climate conferences and Rucker tells of witnessing a distinct metamorphosis from what was once an activist-driven science conference to what he says is a corporate laden, dollar-chasing extravaganza. Sideshows include activists' attempt at re-enacting Moses' historic event on Mt. Sinai, but in this case breaking stone tablets, and announcing a new “10 Principles” of environmental mandates for the world's religious community. - - - - - Then, Dr. Ellen Wald, author of Saudi, Inc., joins Jacki to celebrate the launch of her new energy advocacy advisory firm, Washington Ivy Advisors. The mission is to teach oil and gas producers to stand up for themselves and tell the lifesaving, war-preventing news about robust oil and gas production.
