Send me a messageEver wondered how the pros achieve those perfectly balanced mixes and immersive effects? Marc Matthews and Tim Benson (Aisle9) explain the difference between pre-fader and post-fader sends, the key to balanced mixes and immersive effects. Many overlook this fundamental signal flow, yet mastering it is the secret to professional sound.Discover when to use pre-fader sends (ideal for independent monitor mixes) and when to use post-fader sends (perfect for lush reverb and delay - learn how to use post-fader sends for reverb and delay!). Understand how pre-fader sends work (signal before the fader) and how post-fader sends work (proportional to the fader).Explore why you'd use a pre-fader send for effects and the advantages of using pre-fader sends (consistent monitor levels, unique effects) and post-fader sends (natural effect balances). We'll also touch on how pre/post-fader sends affect aux tracks/returns and when to use pre-fader sends for parallel processing. Join Marc and Tim as they demonstrate that there are no rigid rules, only a universe of creative possibilities waiting to be unlocked.Links mentioned in this episode:Got a question? We premiere new techno from one of the most exciting dance music producers coming out of Los Angles right now, 1morning. The rising star releases his debut EP on Fixed Rhythms, showing his innovative production techniques as he harnesses a loop-driven sound that is oozing with 90's flair & syncopated funk. LA based 1morning has been turning heads within the American techno scene as of late, and he's set his sights on conquering European dancefloors. A recent stint on Hör alongside some dates around Europe and some notable appearances across Basement New York, Nowadays and more have been impressing dancers and promoters alike. The young producer has only sprinkled a small bit of music across the techno world but his debut self-released EP ‘TRANSITIONS' was the perfect introduction to his vintage and locked groove style of production. 1morning also boasts a forthcoming split EP with Irish native Céilí on his impront Mála Ádh. Taking inspiration from the likes of Robert Armani, DJ Rush, and more, he captures an old-school style of production that focusses on rhythm, funk and grit. This is no-bullshit, no-business, all-thriller techno for the real ravers. We premiere ‘Signal Flow,' a high-octane and driving piece of 90's inspired techno funk. The surging minimalistic style that 1morning has crafted allows each elements to not only breathe, but shine. This intricate approach to sound selection provides an infectious call & response that makes the loop completely contagious. Sharp stabbing synths that leave traces of vintage Joey Beltram take centre stage, with shuffling high-hats and delayed claps keeping the rhythm pulsing and gripping. This is true loop-driven techno, made with meticulous attention to detail. 1morning -------------------- SC: @1morning IG: www.instagram.com/1morning_/ Four Four Magazine --------------------------- FB: www.facebook.com/FOURFOURDANCE/ IG: www.instagram.com/fourfourmagazine/ Web: www.fourfourmag.com/

For those of you who don't know, I am a bit of a gear head! I grew up with my dad building sound systems, designing audio treated rooms and learning how it all flows together.  Today I have a music studio that I have spent years building. If you would like to check it out you can head over our YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/c/TheFinalPercent/videos  In the music world there is one thing you always need to ensure you pay attention to. Signal flow. Signal flow decides if you get sound or not from your speakers. If you can record the audio from a guitar, piano and more! The thing about signal flow, is that it doesn't just apply to the music world.  Signal flow is the key indicator of life. With it you can identify the way that certain actions flow into the next. How the beginning correlates with the end and how, by recognizing this you can change the way that actions begin to shape into reality.  I like to remind people that the dots only connect backwards. That the actions we take today may not be recognized as a key moment in life until much later down the road. However by understanding we are in the right place at the right time ALWAYS, we will begin to manipulate that signal flow of life into tomorrows next hit song.

Why do systems fall apart or become dysfunctional? A system can be a family, relationship, community, business, organization, society. The human mind-brain-body is also a system. One reason dysfunction can happen is related to hierarchy and ‘signal flow'. Hierarchies exist throughout nature and throughout human society. Hierarchies are best able to serve the system when there is efficient signal flow from subsystems to the higher levels and vice versa. We can see dysfunction happen when the highest levels of a hierarchy are -not serving the goals of the entire system -have communication channels dominated by a specific subgroup/subsystem -are blocking or suppressing efficient communication and signal flow from the subsystems Optimal functioning of a system requires a state of signal flow where all members or nodes feel ‘understood'. This experience of being understood is at the core of optimal system functioning within human systems. When we don't feel understood, it means there is a block of signal flow. This episode covers the idea of hierarchies and signal flow - and what happens when hierarchies don't serve the goals of the entire system. In upcoming articles, I'll be bringing this concept back down to more personal and interpersonal levels. The post Season 2 Episode 9 – Hierarchies and Signal Flow appeared first on Stefanie Faye.

Are you an audio engineer who’s part of a team that’s responsible for setting up stages night after night, weekend after weekend?  Do you feel like everyone on the team is always repeating themselves and having trouble trying to stay on the same page with how the stage is laid out and what device is plugged into which channel?  Where does the audio madness end?!   I have good news for you: Denver, Colorado-based superheroes Joey and Mike are here to rescue you!   While fighting this very evil, fellow audio engineer Joey came to the realization that there had to be a better way to keep things organized and better communicated when working either solo, with an audio team or with bands in general. Reaching out to his freelance-developer cousin Mike, they put their heads together to develop Signal Flow, a cloud-based app for iPhone and Android that allows audio teams to plan stage plots, document device input and output channels, and provide a way to notify everyone on the team when a setting or configuration changes so everyone has the latest updates.   If you’re an audio engineer looking for an end to the evil plots (pun intended), you’ll want to check out Signal Flow! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/behindthebackline/support
