As a faith community we are part of God's chosen people called to declare our praise and devotion to him, partnering with him to build his kingdom.

John 7:37-38, Jeremiah 2:13 In Jeremiah's day, the people had to rely on God to provide rain water for them to survive. It was much less stressful for them to build cisterns to store water for whenever they needed it. The problem water in a cistern, though, is that it eventually goes bad. When we try to control our lives in our own power, they eventually go bad too. The challenge is to live life God's way rather than our own ways.

Luke 9:18-24 Jesus asks his disciples; “Who do you say I am?”, before predicting his death and telling them what it will mean to follow Him. When we look at the TFRC Cross Hill we remember our answer to that question.... He is our savior. The Cross Hill standing stone reminds us of the crucifixion of our savior, Jesus, and the great sacrifice he offered on our behalf. It is also a reminder of the invitation to faith and servanthood we are given because of his sacrifice.

Song: Standing Stone Music by: Melanie DeMore   Notes: Melanie DeMore is a powerful community shaper and healer who brings warmth and creative delight to her work with people of all stripes. Standing Stone was my introduction to her songs, and like many people, I have a personal history with it. In 2019, I became a long-term sub in a middle school & high school for a beloved choral teacher who had left to tend to her dying sister. The kids were grieving and suspicious. I brought this song to them so we could make a video to send their teacher to support her. The recognition of their capacity to be a source of strength was a game changer; this song unified us. In next week's episode, Melanie talks about what supports her, what she learned from her family, and more. I hope you can join us.   Songwriter Info: Melanie DeMore is a 3-time Grammy-nominated singer/composer, choral conductor, music director, and vocal activist who believes in the power of voices raised together. In her presentations, DeMore beautifully brings her participants together through her music and commentary. DeMore facilitates vocal and stick-pounding workshops for professional choirs, and community groups as well as directing numerous choral organizations across the U.S, Canada, and beyond. She is a featured presenter of SpeakOut!-The Institute for Social and Cultural Change, the Master Teaching Artist for Music at UC Berkeley/CalPerformances; works with everyone from Baptists to Buddhists, and was a founding member of the Grammy-nominated ensemble Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir. She is Music Director for Obeah Opera by Nicole Brooks and will be touring with the company to South Africa. She is a charter member of Threshold Choir founded by Kate Munger, a mentor to the Jerusalem Youth Chorus and conducts song circles with an emphasis on the voice as a vessel for healing. The Calanais Standing Stones on the west side of the Isle of Lewis date back 5000 years, and predate Stonehenge. The Neolithic monument, which was used for rituals and astronomical observation, stands on raised land above a crofting township and attracts an ever-growing number of visitors.A new £10 million visitor centre is in construction, but it won't be complete in time for the additional crowds who are expected to arrive in 2025 to view a lunar standstill over the stones, a phenomenon that occurs only every 18.6 years. Nearby crofters raise animals and work the land as they have done over the millennia. Some have lived here all their lives and take the stones for granted, while others have travelled hundreds of miles to make their home beside them. We hear from both viewpoints and from prehistoric archaeologist Alison Sheridan Produced and presented by Nancy Nicolson

Hello, beautiful souls! Welcome to our July Spirit Messages. This month, I'm using the stunning Sacred Forest deck by Denise Linn.  We'll do a three-card pull, reading from left to right. The first card is Standing Stones, symbolizing passage. I've navigated challenging and unfamiliar territory, feeling unstable at times. This journey has helped me trust in myself and my spiritual gifts.  The second card is Elves, representing playfulness. Let's embrace childlike energy, accept situations neutrally, and lighten our energy. Nature will be crucial for grounding and centering this month. We should connect with the Earth by walking on grass or dipping our feet in water. Finally, Spirit reminds us to open our hearts to receiving. I give generously; now it's time to accept generosity in return. This exchange is part of our spiritual growth. Let's trust in the universe's abundance, and know that blessings are coming in all areas of our lives. Let´s dive into today´s episode!   Thank you for supporting The Connected Spirit Podcast!. Have you ever wondered what it was like to experience a spiritual direction session? What happens? What do you talk about? While some coaches will air live coaching sessions, I can't very well do that, for two different reasons. One, I don't do live spiritual direction sessions, since I focus on written spiritual direction. And two, spiritual direction is often deeply personal, and many women would hesitate to air that in front of an audience. But I still want to help you get a glimpse of what written spiritual direction can look like. So today, I am going to share with you some letters that a client and I have written to each other.  Cindy has graciously given me permission to share these, and to use her real name, because she has experienced the power of spiritual direction in written form, and she is passionate about helping others experience that, too. Ethan describes use of the belly collar to condition whoa, and we talk about introducing a dog to gunfire. We talk about the off season, the tradeoffs associated with spaying and neutering, and then turn our attention to "taking away the chase" in an effort to teach steadiness to wing. We talk about impulse control and how it's a precursor to steadiness. The mysterious Standing Stones around Carnac make a strong impression on most people. Why would anyone line up so many huge stones over such a long distance? What was their purpose? How did they do it? We don't have all the answers in this episode of the podcast, but we can help you plan a great trip to the standing stones of Brittany! What we can say for a fact is that large alignment of stones such as the one we see in Carnac are evidence of purposefulness. The people who created this structure were capable of planning a complex project. In a world that was still largely natural, this set them apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. Perhaps that was the whole point? Affirming their human nature as thinking, planning people?
