Stephen Griffiths dubbed himself the Crossbow Killer after murdering and dismembering three women. Susan Rushworth, Shelley Armitage and Suzanne Blamires were all connected by the work they did. They were so much more than what they did for a living though, they were mothers, sisters, daughters and friends. Stephen Griffith's took all three of their lives away in a horrific, coldblooded manner because he simply wanted to be a serial killer. The Trump Tax Plan https://assets.donaldjtrump.com/trump-tax-reform.pdfThe Standard Deduction (as in non-itemized) will double. $12k for singles, $24k married.Alternative Minimum (AMT)is removedIncreased Child Tax Credit (Under age of 17)Adult Dependent tax credit of $500Removal of the Estate Tax (or as they would like the american farmer to believe, the Death tax)Deductions for State Income Tax are going away (Double taxation on income??)Corporate Tax Rate is being cut from 35% to 20%S-Corp an small business taxes are capped at 25%How they propose to be “Fiscally responsible” and “The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by”:Reducing or eliminating deductions and loopholes available to the very rich, starting by steepening the curve of the Personal Exemption Phaseout and the Pease Limitation on itemized deductions. The Trump plan also phases out the tax exemption on life insurance interest for high-income earners, ends the current tax treatment of carried interest for speculative partnerships that do not grow businesses or create jobs and are not risking their own capital, and reduces or eliminates other loopholes for the very rich and special interests. These reductions and eliminations will not harm the economy or hurt the middle class. Because the Trump plan introduces a new business income rate within the personal income tax code, they will not harm small businesses either. A one-time deemed repatriation of corporate cash held overseas at a significantly discounted 10% tax rate. Since we are making America’s corporate tax rate globally competitive, it is only fair that corporations help make that move fiscally responsible. U.S.-owned corporations have as much as $2.5 trillion in cash sitting overseas. Some companies have been leaving cash overseas as a tax maneuver. Under this plan, they can bring their cash home and put it to work in America while benefitting from the newly-lowered corporate tax rate that is globally competitive and no longer requires parking cash overseas. Other companies have cash overseas for specific business units or activities. They can leave that cash overseas, but they will still have to pay the one-time repatriation fee. An end to the deferral of taxes on corporate income earned abroad. Corporations will no longer be allowed to defer taxes on income earned abroad, but the foreign tax credit will remain in place because no company should face double taxation. Reducing or eliminating some corporate loopholes that cater to special interests, as well as deductions made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rate on corporations and business income. We will also phase in a reasonable cap on the deductibility of business interest expenses.2. ORLY-EP0145A - When to fight, when to run Welcome to ORLYRADIO #145 recorded Friday February 24th, 2017 - where we dismantle the current events for your edutainment through mostly rational conversations that make you go ‘Oh Really’! I’m your host Andy Cowen, with my usual suspects, Stephen Griffith, Amber Biesecker, Fred Sims, Daniel Atherton, and JP.Audience Feedback From Previous Shows: From listener Kristen R.Hello. I liked the discussion that went on in this episode and wanted to contribute with two questions. The first question is: When is violence the appropriate answer?Every time I ask this question, people immediately snap back with "Violence is NEVER the answer! NEVER!!!" I feel that this is a short sighted answer with no thought or consideration put into it.How bad would things have to get before violence becomes the appropriate answer? What kind of events or situations would that look like which would warrant a violent response? My second question is: When is it time to flee the country? How bad would things have to get before the decision to flee becomes essential? What would have to happen that would cause you to start packing up and flee right now?(for me personally, it would be the beginning construction of a US/Canada border wall and/or the sanctioned arrests of LGBT people, the community which I belong to)I'm sorry to do this, but I must invoke Godwin's Law of citing Nazi Germany. Our country has some initial parallels of how things became bad there and how things are becoming bad here. I'm curious if the German citizens of that time had similar discussions. How bad would things have to get before they fled or became violent?Personally, several friends, acquaintances, and I of the LGBT community have been making plans to flee just in case. We're gathering supplies, planning our routes, amassing arms and ammunition for hunting/self defense, and building our long term bug-out bags. Each person has specialist roles that will help the group as a whole. We currently have a carpentry & construction person, a medical first aid person, a radio & electronics person, a hunter/trapper/fisherman person, an herbalist plant person, a defense/offense person, and several general labor people.Hopefully we won't need it, but it's better to have and not need rather than to need and not have.
