Whether we like it or not, teaching students to take notes is an important part of being a high school teacher! Is that an unpopular opinion? Maybe, but I still stand by it! Beyond just understanding the content, strong note-taking skills set students up for success in life, no matter where their future takes them. When it comes to teaching these skills, there are plenty of options: typing, doodle-based notes, interactive notebooks…the list goes on! I've tried them all, and hands down, Cornell notes are my favorite. In this episode, I'm sharing exactly why I love the Cornell note taking method and how you can use it in your secondary science classroom.➡️ Show Notes: https://itsnotrocketscienceclassroom.com/episode175Resources Mentioned:Episode 123, What to Do When You Care More Than Your Students DoEpisode 6, Engaging Students in LectureHow to Use Cornell Notes in High School ScienceThe Cornell Note Taking SystemOtter.aihttps://otter.ai/Download your FREE Classroom Reset Challenge.Send me a DM on Instagram: @its.not.rocket.scienceSend me an email: rebecca@itsnotrocketscienceclassroom.com Follow, rate, and review on Apple Podcasts. Hart, Fitzy and Johnson continue their discussion on the success of the 4 Nations Face-off, and they debate whether other professional sports leagues will take notes from the NHL for their own best-on-best tournaments moving forward.
How can the NBA be fixed? Is the All-Star Game the problem, or is it just a symptom of a much bigger issue? The game needs to be fixed domestically rather than prioritizing this globalist agenda. Former ESPN broadcaster and sportswriter Bill Simmons brainstorms creative ways to get the NBA back on its feet. Jason expands on the conversation by arguing that the NBA should do everything in its power to keep freshman phenom Duke basketball star Cooper Flagg in college for as long as possible. Whitlock believes in the college blueprint — professional prospects should build a following in college and continue to develop their craft. Then, once they make the leap to the pros, they will be more polished players while also bringing a huge fan base with them. While the NBA faces major issues, the WNBA, on the other hand, is growing at an alarming rate — to the point where the league is considering freedom from the NBA's destructive narrative. The league that subsidized the WNBA's debt on a yearly basis has essentially been given the finger. In other sports news, the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off championship between Canada and the USA is on Thursday, and the hype surrounding this game couldn't be greater. It could very well be the most viewed hockey match in a decade. Steve Kim joins the show to weigh in on all these topics, as well as Serena Williams' strange attention stunt, Anthony Edwards not wanting to be the face of the league, LeBron James' beef with Doug Gottlieb, and Shedeur Sanders dropping a new song. Wrapping up the show is our very own "Fearless" first lady, Shemeka Michelle, who addresses Trevor Noah's call for segregation. We have a great show planned. Tune in! HR1 - Its a Jones and Mego reunion on the heels of an electric hockey game between the USA and Canada. How can other leagues shape their All Star Games like what the NHL has done with the 4 Nations Face Off? Then, on top of the fighting, Canadian fans boo'ed the American National Anthem which leads to speculate on how the fans could answer in Boston. And, the biggest league that needs fixing on their All Star weekend is the NBA.
