Happy New Year and Ba weep granah weep nini bong to you all! Transformers started out as a toy line, and became a comic and a TV series, and it was making huge profits for parent company Hasbro, but what do you do when you want to introduce a whole new toy line and get rid of the old ones? Why, you make a feature length animation to kill off the ones you don't want anymore. It'll be easy, right?Well, turns out Hasbro ignored the advice of seasoned writer Ron Friedman, who insisted killing Optimus Prime would be a terrible idea. Hasbro went ahead and massacred not only Optimus, but other fan favourite characters, just to get kids to want new toys. While this decision is seen as one of the worst ideas in Transformers history, it arguably made The Transformers: The Movie into more than meets the eye, and while the move failed at the box office, its legacy in animation history would be preserved as an emotionally impactful story for millions of fans, and is now a beloved cult classic.I would love to hear your thoughts on (From the Archive) The Transfomers: The Movie (1986) !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! Order of Battle Podcast episode 106 Jason had the pleasure to sit down with Michael Hill. He was a producer and writer for Sunbow's GIJoe and Transfomers cartoons. He was also the author of the Special Mission Brazil cassette tape and Claymore character. Michael talks about what a producer's job was, hanging out with Jack Kirby and Gary Gygax, and in general being a part of the history of our love and passion, GIJoe.
Buon ascolto. Mikey and Andy are back to talk comics after a break and the lads decide to cover 4 issues of IDW Shattered Glass, why four? because they already covered the first issue. They both enjoyed the first issue so will the other four be that good or will the ball be dropped?
Andy and Mikey return for another week of Transfomers news and this week the Evergreen line get a new name as Authentic and new figures Wheeljack and Arcee. Legacy show 2 new core figures Skywarp and Iguanus, with seemingly a combing "build-a-weapon" feature for the size class and final product images of the Flametoys Windblade are shown. Plus what the lads as ever during the week.

The Films of Michael Bay"I make movies for teenage boys. Oh, dear, what a crime."Lee Hutchison is joined by Mike Schindler (Great Shot, Kid) to look at the movies of Michael Bay on the eve of his latest movie, Transformers: The Last Knight. Michael Bay is one of the most divisive filmmakers in Hollywood but is this often negative critical reaction warrented? Starting their "Baywatch" in 1995 with Bad Boys, Lee and Mike also review The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbour, Bad Boys II, The Island, Transfomers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Pain and Gain, Transformers: Age of Extinction, 13 Hours and look ahead to Transformers: The Last Knight.

On this week's episode, Alex and Brandon chat about trailers, trailers, and more trailers. After apologizing once more for forgetting to plug their social media accounts at the end of the last episode, Alex starts the show off with something new, a Periscope of a mystery unboxing from his friend/tormentor, Josh Brown of the Toys for Games podcast, which goes so unbelievably badly, the audio version doesn't do it justice, so make sure to check it out by going to Alex's Twitter account, @AtariAlex. Once that debacle concludes, Alex picks the subject for this week's ABC's of Geekdom segment (major spoilers from 12:45- 19:04), and begins with corrections from last week's show, which include, My Teacher Fried My Brains, Star Wars, Transfomers, Spelling Jungle, Reader Rabbit, Garfield's Pet Force, Captain Underpants, Professor Poopypants, Justice League, The Hulk, Meloetta, Lilo and Stitch, Star Wars Celebration Europe, Star Trek, Pokémon, Shrek, Fear the Walking Dead, Kaiju, and the Botafumiero. With all that out of the way, they move on to news from the past week, which mostly is made up of trailers from SDCC, including Wonder Woman, Justice League, Suicide Squad, LEGO Batman, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Kong: Skull Island, Doctor Strange, Legion, and series 4 of Sherlock. They also talk about the official announcement of Brie Larson and Captain Marvel, Kiersey Clemmons as Iris West in The Flash movie, Lennie James being cast for Blade Runner 2, some promo art for Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well as news about Star Trek Discovery, Pacific Rim 2, and a reboot of The Rocketeer. After all of that, Alex and Brandon have a discussion about good and bad series finales in tv shows and why they are so difficult, and end the show with an all new Fan Fic Fights, with our first ever returning fighter.Last but not least, Alex stole Brandon's pick for which movie to watch and discuss next, and he chose Batman: Assault on Arkham, which will undoubtedly be a better movie that Suicide Squad. We will be talking all about that in 2 weeks, so make sure to watch it and let us know what you think by sending us an email.Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @AtariAlex and @Megsikouicorean. On this week's episode, Alex and Brandon chat about who has better hair. First, Alex and Brandon return to the newest segment of the show, which they totally forgot last week, the ABC's of Geekdom. This week was Brandon's turn to pick something to do with the letter B, which resulted in a fun discussion. After that, they correct mistakes from the last show including topics on: Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, 101 Dalmatians, Harry Potter, Santa Claus, Superman X, Legion of Superheroes, Dragonball Z, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Loonatics Unleashed, Duck Dodgers, Osmosis Jones, Static Shock, Generator Rex, Codename: Kids Next Door, HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Chowder, The Superhero Squad Show, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, Pokémon, Nintendo Land, Ducktales Remastered, Brie Larson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Transfomers, and Jumanji. After all of that, they finally cover some news from the last week, including trailers for Injustice 2, LEGO Dimensions, Pokémon Sun and Moon, LEGO Star Wars: the Freemaker Adventures, and The Legend of Tarzan, as well as discussing J. K. Simmons' ridiculous muscles, John Boyega's casting in Pacific Rim 2, the announcement of a sequel to The Passion of the Christ, Kenneth Choi's casting in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Alex talks about the games and shows he's indulged in for the last week. The boys also cover one of Alex's favorite movies, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (spoilers (what little there is to spoil) from around 1:55:35-2:02:00). Last but not least, there is a new Fan Fic Fights Segment to close out the show.Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @AtariAlex, and @Megsikouicorean. We'll review the priemier of THE FLASH (deduting Oct. 7th on the CW) and the lastest TRANSFOMERS movie. We'll open the floor to topics chosen by our listeners so come on by and talk, talk, talk. The new series, a spinoff of sorts from DC Comics-based action drama “Arrow,” represents a significant investment of programming time for the oft-overlooked network. The new television series starring Grant Gustin (“Glee”) as Barry Allen, a police scientist who becomes the fastest man alive, premieres Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. in what will be its regular Tuesday time slot. At 9 p.m. the next night, the first episode will get an encore airing following the Season 3 premiere of “Arrow.” “The Flash's” second episode, airing Oct. 14, similarly receives a post-”Arrow” encore showing Oct. 15. The Barry Allen version of the Flash first appeared in 1956 and was a founding member of the Justice League of America. He has been the subject of a previous live-action TV series — the 1990 CBS series “The Flash,” which starred John Wesley Shipp.
