THE SKULL IS BACK! AND WITH LESS MOLD THAN EVER! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD bring back the topic, which is all topics! Can your ill-equipped nerves handle the raw intensity and bone-chilling randomness that is... TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL: SKULL-POCALYPSE!!! For the uninitiated, let us explain: Like in past TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL episodes, we all write several concepts for brief nerdy conversations on strips of paper, and place them within the confines of Larry's vintage plastic skull-shaped Halloween candy bucket. Then, we each take turns blindly choosing one of the strips and reading the topic. What follows is a lively and informative discussion, peppered with opportunities for trivia, merriment, and personal potshots. Some of these topics come from unchosen strips from past episodes that suffered water damage from a leak in Larry's garage. Yes, they are literally moldy oldies. But a little mold can't dampen the unbridled excitement these personally crafted argument starters bring. So rain? Go suck on it! Joining us for this cavalcade of categories are not one, but TWO return guests! First up is an acclaimed comedian, writer, producer, and cartoonist who, for years, has been creating celebrated daily cartoons on cocktail napkins for MATTANAPKIN.COM. He's also been the featured guest on many a TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL. Please welcome back, charisma incarnate... JOHN MATTA! (THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW, DUCK DODGERS, THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, BEWARE THE BATMAN) And we're sure you remember our other guest from the now legendary HORROR & SCI-FI CASTING episode, and his drop-in appearances at MONSTERAPLOOZA! He's a casting director powerhouse who teaches the must-attend G. CHARLES WRIGHT STUDIO AUDITION WORKSHOP, and if you'd like more information about that, go to GCHARLESWRIGHT.COM. Please welcome once again, the delightful and delicious... G. CHARLES WRIGHT! (THAT 70'S SHOW, THE MIDDLE, ANGER MANAGEMENT, LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ, STAN AGAINST EVIL) WILL YOU SURVIVE THE SKULL-POCALYPSE?! AND SHOULD YOU?!

His signature mix of sharp dialogue, brutal violence, and unexpected humor makes his films stand out. Here are five of his most iconic moments:The “Royale with Cheese” Conversation – Pulp Fiction (1994) Before anything even happens, Vincent (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) discuss European fast food with absurd detail, setting the tone for Tarantino's unique blend of casual conversation and impending violence. The Tavern Standoff – Inglourious Basterds (2009) What starts as a simple undercover mission turns into a slow-burn, tension-filled masterpiece. The suspense, the performances, and that final explosion of violence make this one of Tarantino's greatest scenes.Mr. Blonde's Dance – Reservoir Dogs (1992) Michael Madsen's sadistic yet strangely charming dance to Stuck in the Middle with You before torturing a cop is pure Tarantino—cool, unsettling, and unforgettable. The Bride vs. The Crazy 88 – Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) Uma Thurman's battle against a seemingly endless wave of sword-wielding assassins is one of the greatest action sequences in modern cinema, complete with Tarantino's love for stylized violence.Candyland Dinner – Django Unchained (2012) Leonardo DiCaprio's chilling performance as Calvin Candie reaches its peak during this tense dinner scene. The reveal of Django's plan and the real-life glass-smashing moment make this unforgettable.Main Feature: ERBefore Tarantino became a household name, he directed an episode of ER in 1995 titled Motherhood. While he didn't get to add any of his trademark bloodbaths, his influence is evident in the episode's fast-paced, chaotic energy, whip-smart dialogue, and stylish camera work.Beyond Tarantino's contribution, ER was one of the defining medical dramas of the ‘90s and early 2000s. It delivered intense, emotionally charged episodes with a cast led by George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, and Noah Wyle. The series set the gold standard for hospital dramas, balancing medical realism with compelling character arcs.Kids Feature: Duck DodgersShifting gears completely, we end this episode on a lighter note with Duck Dodgers, the hilarious sci-fi spin on Daffy Duck's adventures. Originally appearing in the 1953 short Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century, the series expanded in the early 2000s, bringing us more of Daffy's over-the-top antics as an incompetent space hero battling the evil Martian Commander.Final ThoughtsFrom Tarantino's most iconic moments to high-stakes hospital drama and Looney Tunes in space, this episode has something for everyone. In this episode of "Practical Stoicism," I delve into Enchiridion 10, a personal favorite, which prompts us to consider how we can use our abilities to properly handle different situations in life. The core message revolves around transforming life's challenges into opportunities for practicing virtues like self-restraint, fortitude, and patience. I candidly share my own struggles and complaints, such as dealing with a complicated emigration process, to illustrate how easy it is to fall into the trap of blaming circumstances or external factors for our problems. However, I've noticed a significant decrease in my own complaining since starting this podcast, indicating a shift in my approach to life's challenges. I liken life's journey to the animated travel paths in old cartoons, specifically referencing "Duck Dodgers." These journeys, filled with twists, turns, and occasional collisions, symbolize the times we navigate through life, reflecting and learning about virtue and character. It's in these moments, like arguments with loved ones or facing personal challenges, that we have the chance to apply our theoretical musings about virtue to real-life situations. Epictetus, I believe, suggests that these challenging moments are necessary for testing and applying our virtues. Without these 'nexus points,' we wouldn't have the opportunity to demonstrate our character and growth. It's not about craving misfortune, but rather recognizing and embracing these events as chances to prove and improve ourselves. I conclude by emphasizing the importance of perspective in dealing with life's adversities. How we respond to these situations, like the loss of a beloved pet, can either reveal weaknesses or strengths in our character. It's about choosing to see these incidents as opportunities to define our path, rather than as mere setbacks. This mindset shift is crucial for personal growth and aligning closer to the ideals of Stoicism. -- Support my work directly on Patreon : https://stoicismpod.com/members Subscribe to my Everyday Stoicism blog : https://everydaystoicism.com Join the Actual Stoicism discord community : https://stoicismpod.com/discord -- Online copy of Meditations (A.S.L Farquharson) : https://link.stoicismpod.com/farquharson Online copy of Enchiridion (Elizabeth Carter) : https://classics.mit.edu/Epictetus/epicench.html Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, expect dastardly dining that includes yucky yogurt, petrifying pies, nauseating number twos, raw rodent, mobile meat, cannibal crackers, Starfleet snacks, fiendish fungus, a carrot kook, and more! MONSTER PARTY WELCOMES BACK AN OLD PLASTIC FRIEND! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, revisit a favorite topic that is all topics! And if that were not enough, a vital element has returned to the show that was sorely missed. Brace yourself, listeners, for... TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL: THE SKULL IS BACK!!! Long-time listeners will know that TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL is like getting a dozen shows in one go. Traditionally, it worked like this: The MONSTER PARTY gang and their guests write down various mini-topics on a slip of paper and place them in Larry's plastic skull with the light-up eyes. The skull is shaken up, each person randomly pulls out a topic, and said topic is briefly discussed. But, the last time we did TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL, something went horribly wrong! Larry happened to be out of town, and had left the skull back in his palatial Van Nuys apartment. But MONSTER PARTY is not a podcast to let adversity stop a show, and with some slight alterations, we managed to do the episode... skull-less. Now, the skull has been returned to Larry Strothe's rightful control, and we can finally do the TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL the way MONSTER PARTY intended. Complete with water-damaged paper topic slips from episodes gone by. Yes... THE MOLD IS BACK AS WELL! Joining us for this potpourri of petrifying possibilities is a long-time friend of MONSTER PARTY, as well as an ultra-talented comedian, actor, writer, and cartoonist! He's the genius behind MATTA NAPKIN (the daily series of hilarious cartoons, all drawn on cocktail napkins), as well as co-writing two episodes of BEWARE THE BATMAN with some guy named MATT WEINHOLD. Please welcome back the man, the legend... JOHN MATTA! (THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, BE COOL SCOOBY DOO, GRAND MARQUEE, DUCK DODGERS, STEVE HARVEY'S BIG TIME CHALLENGE, THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW) THE SKULL IS BACK! DEAL WITH IT!
Acomi and Turk182 climb aboard a stolen spaceship to watch the Earth be invaded by aliens. Many lives will be lost during the Battle For The Lost Planet (1986). The Earth soon becomes another casualty of their Galaxy Destroyer (the film's other name). A "spy" steals a spaceship just as an alien fleet attacks Earth. Floating around the Earth in a near powerless spaceship for years, the spy returns to find most of the planet enslaved. Can one forgotten man, who's lived in a pig sty and had sex with a homemade body pillow for five years turn the tide of war and win back the planet? Lucky for us, the aliens are incompetent and he's a moron. Join Acomi and Turk as they watch a movie so low budget it could have been Sweded. A movie that inexplicably spawned a sequel with Mutant War (1988). Bigger budget, just as stupid. So, order your home lobotomy kits and prepare for a sci-fi battle so stupid, it makes Duck Dodgers look like the Trojan War. Let's Watch! The Battle For The Lost Planet a.k.a. Galaxy Destroyer (1986). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch! in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #BattleForTheLostPlanet #GalaxyDestroyer #scifi #80s #1986scifi Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. Classic Looney Tunes shorts, American game shows, 90s anime; these are just some of the topics we talk about in this episode. We're talking about Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions, Family Feud, and Kendo Rage. Marvin Missions is based on the classic Duck Dodgers and the 24th 1/2 Century short (that's really funny, you should go watch it.) Is this game worthy of the classic short, or is it as useful as a disintegration pistol? We also go into a brief history of the game show Family Feud before discussing the game. Did the SNES need a game based on Family Feud? Does something like this work in a world before the internet and easily accessible 4+ multiplayer? Are these questions hinting toward our overall opinions of this game? They probably should be. Finally, we've got Kendo Rage. It's a bit amazing we got a game like this without it getting westernized to hell and back. We'll tell you what we thought of it and Emmy will even talk a little bit about the OVA based on the game. All of this and a special message from Emmy at the end that we hope you'll stick around for. Enjoy!
THE TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL IS BACK, BUT A CERTAIN PROP HAD OTHER PLANS! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, return to the topic that is all topics! But due to a slight hiccup, we don't have our beloved plastic skull full of exciting, and sometimes moldy talking points. Thus, we present... TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL: OUT OF OUR SKULL EDITION!!! In past "TOPIC FREE-ALL" episodes, we'd usually pull strips of paper with random topics out a plastic skull, and discuss whatever was written on them. But at the last minute, we discovered the skull was inaccessible. Not giving in to defeat, we quickly retooled our topic choosing process, and the show was saved! But we're not going to lie... the skull was missed. One thing that did go very right was our choice of a guest! He's an acclaimed comedian, writer, cartoonist, friend of the show, and no stranger to TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL! MONSTER PARTY is pleased to start the new year with the lovely and talented... JOHN MATTA! (MATTA NAPKIN, BEWARE THE BATMAN, THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, BE COOL, SCOOBY DOO!, DUCK DODGERS, THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW) BONUS: IF ALL THIS IS NOT ENOUGH NEW YEAR MERRIMENT, WE'VE GOT A SPECIAL REVIEW OF THE NEW NETFLIX SERIES, "WEDNESDAY", BY OUR OWN KATHY STROTHE! IT'S TUBULAR! SUCK ON THAT 2023!
MONSTER PARTY PRESENTS A DINNER WITH FIENDS! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, give thanks for all those genre characters with extremely questionable table manners. We hope you have the appetite for… DIABOLICAL DINNERS! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many of you might be dreading that family dinner with your unpleasant relatives. But if you thought your uncle was crazy, listening to this episode should put things into perspective. We've got a venomous variety of aliens, oddballs, zombies, murderers, animated a-holes, a whole lotta cannibals, and more! And by more, we mean more cannibals. Helping us set the table for this gathering of ghastly gourmets, is a dear friend of the show, not to mention all of us. No stranger to good food, as a young TV pitchman, he introduced the world to McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, and the Shamrock Shake. He's a mega-talented writer, actor, podcaster, and fellow monster kid, who is like a member of the MONSTER PARTY family. We are as pleased as poisoned punch to welcome back the great… KEN DALY! (NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, THE KARATE KID, QUINCY M.E., DUCK DODGERS, AND SO MUCH MORE!) WARNING: THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS! PLEASE WATCH EVERY MOVIE WITH A WEIRD DINNER SCENE BEFORE LISTENING. MONSTER PARTY WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING! BUT IF YOU'RE HAVING GRAVY… LEAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US!

Just because we're 1,800 miles away from the other L.A., doesn't mean you can't have a career in Hollywood. State tax incentives have lured productions to Louisiana over the last decade or so. And that's given a lot of local talent an opportunity to work in the industry without making the leap of faith in Los Angeles. You've probably heard of some big budget films and TV shows shot in Louisiana. I'm thinking of Morgan Freeman sightings and Blackham Coliseum's cameo in the Secretariat biopic. Hollywood's venture eastward has given expat talent a reason to come home — without giving up their day jobs. You might know Christiaan's guest from appearances in True Detective, Cedric the Entertainer and My Amazing Cheap Date New Orleans. Amy Brassette is an actor and producer born and raised in Lake Charles. She specializes in voice acting and is known for disappearing into characters. She does a lot of voice-over work, and you've heard her characters on the Simpsons, Duck Dodgers and the computer game Everquest. Movie magic is one thing. How about something more up close and personal? Stand-up comedy is a tough game to crack into, so it helps to have a solid hook — like a Jedi mind trick. Flip Orley is a comic and a hypnotist. For this week's cartoons, we examine the only theatrical short series Hanna Barbara ever produced, featuring nice-guy wolf Loopy de Loup trying to return a stolen baa-baa to a foul-mouthed sheepdog; we watch Little Audrey learn the consequences of being good with guns; we watch Duck Dodgers attempt colonization some four and a half centuries after it's gone out of vogue; and we watch a student film from Denmark that depicts either Centaurworld, Dark Souls, or maybe social anxiety. Plus, Micah checks on old cartoon Rose Petal Place to see if it's anything, and Matsy checks on the first season of Home Movies to see if that's anything. And now, a question: Is the 24 1/2th century the year 2350, 2450, 2351, or 2451? Cartoons in this episode: "Bungle Uncle" "Song of the Birds" "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century" "Within, Without"

If you played along with any of our TAGLINES episodes, the gameplay is pretty much identical. Each of us offers up a anonymous quote (or several) from a horror film, and the rest of us try to guess which film it is from. Simple, yes? Were we good at it? Ummm... To do this topic justice, we wanted a guest who knows horror films as well as we do, not to mention someone we really liked! And we got just that! Joining us for this game of Terror-ivial Pursuit, is a celebrated actor, writer, producer, artist, and horror whisperer, with a literal lifetime resume of excellent work. Please welcome back a longtime friend of MONSTER PARTY... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, QUINCY M.E., THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, DUCK DODGERS, BE COOL SCOOBY DOO, STAN AGAINST EVIL, NERD POKER... AND HE'S THE GUY WHO INTRODUCED US TO THE "SHAMROCK SHAKE"!) WARNING: AFTER THE END MUSIC, THERE IS YET ANOTHER ROUND OF BICKERING OVER THE FILM, "GODZILLA VS. KONG." MAYBE KONG CAN LET THINGS GO, BUT APPARENTLY WE CAN'T.
You probably forgot that there was a Space Jam 2 in 1999, thanks to the memory-erasing feature at the end. Thanks to the internet, people now know to blink during that part. Joining me again Zach Arnold from the Intergalactic Peace Coalition Podcast. What did we think of the wacky crossover elements? How well does this work as a baseball/basketball/golf movie? What about Michael Jordan's acting in this one? And what's the deal with Berserk-O? Listen to our thoughts! Show Notes: 5:00 - Here's that Trust Your Doctor episode. Space Jam 2 talk is toward the end. 13:00 - June Bugs info on the Cartoon Network Wiki. 13:45 - Loonatics Unleashed follows the descendants of the Looney Tunes characters. Check out the wild premise on Wikipedia. 17:30 - When it comes to Scooby-Doo, lots of people love how Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) subverted the expectations of the monsters being fake. I also remember enjoying Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue (2006-2008) because it was a change from the repetitive mystery-solving and more of a comedic spy show. But my favorite thing in the franchise is Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (2010-2013), which was more of a serialized ongoing mystery. 28:30 - I realized after the fact that I could've mentioned High School Musical, which I know Zach hates. 41:00 - Stan's product placement line in this Honest Trailer. 46:30 - Captain Impressive on the Superhero Wiki. 1:20:55 - #BeeBeeQWatch Here's that IPC announcement. Speaking of Duck Dodgers and The Iron Giant, check out this clip from the former parodying the end of the latter, featuring Robot-O. The original Space Jam website is still up somehow. DUCK DODGERS! No, wait, that’s not the title. It totally should be the title but instead it is called Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions. Missed opportunity. Well, the Randomizer threw this one at us and it was one of the more polarized opinions between Tyler and Dave in quite some time. Dave had a very … Continue reading → The post Ep. 606 – Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions appeared first on TADPOG: Tyler and Dave Play Old Games.

MONSTER PARTY JOLTS THE SMACKDOWN BACK TO LIFE! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, thought it couldn't be done. That they couldn't do the MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN virtually through the ZOOM machine. But with a sip of a girl drink and a chaser of ingenuity, the boys shouted down their own naysaying and are pleased to annouce... MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN LIVES AGAIN!!! Hopefully, you all know the drill: We open a genre film reference book, quickly flip through it, stop on a page, blindly point to a movie entry, and discuss. Fun, right? Oh, and expect of bit of arguing and character assassination. This is MONSTER PARTY of course. Joining us for this raucous reanimation of a beloved topic is an incredibly talented comedian, writer, producer, and artist. He's a long time friend of the show, but we like to think of him as a human ray of sunshine! Please welcome back... JOHN MATTA! (MATTA NAPKIN, THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS IN SPACE, BEWARE THE BATMAN, BE COOL, SCOOBY-DOO!, GRAND MARQUEE, DUCK DODGERS, THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW) THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN IS ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE!!!! Sorry, we'll stop yelling now.

How does Warner Bros stack up to Disney at the time? Are the cartoons still funny when you're old and bitter? Find out on this week's Tardy to the Party!

Oh, and you can also hear quite a bit of conversation about the works of Ardman Animation in the back-end of the podcast.
Marc and Jordan continue their look at the origins of the Looney Tune Characters by looking at the origins of Daffy Duck in 'Porky's Duck Hunt' Followed by a look at the classic short 'Duck Amuck'. The meeting of the Sisyphian Society was held on Tuesday, 23 June 2020, remotely, the co-chairs pro tempore being in the chairs and the secretary being present. 0:00:51 Meeting (naturally) came to order. 0:01:09 Apologized for poor audio. 0:02:17 Refreshments. 0:05:14 Announced that podcasts will be topic of next meeting rather than of this one. 0:06:00 Errata for Vol. I, No. 1. Introduction. Audio and editing quality was poor. Kyle cannot edit that heavily from now on. Apologized for plosives, lip smacking, and overuse of brilliant. Discussed Kyle’s additional recording rules for himself, to prevent some such errors in future. When Kyle said “golden coins”, he should have said “gold coins”. When Kyle said “I was a group of ... it was like, two or three people”, he should have said “I was in a group of . . .” Public credit to listener David for reporting error. When Matt said lifehacking had become about “how inefficient you can do something”, he should have said “how inefficiently you can do something”. When Kyle said “you can hover your mouse over the comic and . . . title text pops up”, he should have said “you can hover your cursor or your pointer over the comic and . . . title text pops up”. When Kyle said, “I’ll list you some of these things”, he (probably) should have said, “I’ll list for you some of these things”. At this point in the errata, Matt requested someone donate The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language [buy on Amazon] to Society. When Kyle said, “the second category are fun topics”, he should have said “the second category is fun topics”. When Kyle gave Society’s telephone number, he forgot to give first (international) digit. Full number is +1 805 538 2382. When Matt said, “we might as well motion to adjourn”, he should have said “we might as well move to adjourn”. 0:20:49 Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Secretary recorded William as first enemy of Society. 0:28:46 Personal correspondence to Kyle from Hans, John, and Nathan expressed provisional interest in Proceedings. 0:29:13 Personal correspondence to Kyle from Nathan recognized Kyle’s famously bad MIDI-keyboard work. 0:29:55 Personal correspondence to Kyle from Chris provided either praise for Vol. I, No. 1 or cleverly disguised grammatical criticism. 0:30:09 Voicemail message from George, self-described “best friend” of Matt and Kyle, criticized Looney Tunes, praised Scooby-Doo, and asked whether Matt and Kyle would allow their hypothetical children to join the Scooby-Doo “gang” on mystery-solving adventures. Matt answered in the negative, raising various lifestyle concerns about gang. Kyle began with a long digression on poor quality of Scooby-Doo animated series, citing Jamie Malanowski’s criticism of franchise’s mystery, humor, and animation, and plot “formula” as described by Wikipedia article for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. Kyle endorses only Season 1, Episode 10 Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? and Season 2, Episode 25 of Batman: The Brave and the Bold (featuring cast of Scooby-Doo). (At this point in published issue, editorial audio comment was inserted, to discuss clips that were played, sufficiently enough to warrant “fair use” claim. Kyle requested listener add accordion/concertina error to “Inconsistencies/continuity errors and/or goofs/oddities” section of entry for Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? episode in Scoobypedia. Kyle also cited Season 4, Episode 13a of Johnny Bravo, Scoobypedia note on questionable canonicity of Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode, and Scooby-Doo characters’ brief cameo in Season 2, Episode 22a of Duck Dodgers.) Debated merits of Scooby-Doo. Kyle said he would not allow children to watch any of the shows, briefly praised Looney Tunes in comparison and reaffirmed desire to discuss those theatrical shorts at future meeting, and said he would not allow children to join gang either, citing Wikipedia article on Scooby-Doo with regard to “presumed subversive themes”. 0:50:53 Personal correspondence to Kyle from George expressed willingness to serve as guest or co-host. 0:51:52 Voicemail message from Kyle’s mom requested definition of Sisyphian, requested technical support, and expressed well-wishes. Kyle and Matt discussed being blocked by Google’s overzealous spelling correction and coined terms invisibilization and Sisyphianed to describe said phenomenon. Discussed original (and correct) spelling of Sisyphian from Oxford English Dictionary (subscription required to view). Cited The Silkewormes, and Their Flies by Thomas Moffett. 0:55:52 Voicemail message from Joel criticized Matt and Kyle for being unlike “great artisans or inventors of the past“ (see Vol. I, No. 1), “like Thomas Edison”, and offered conflicting sentiments about Proceedings. 0:59:58 Discussed impropriety of humor. Cited The Rule of St. Benedict (other formats). Discussed strategy with reference thereto: proselytizing gradual move to sobriety. 1:03:35 Next meeting’s topic will be podcasts. Called for collaboration and peer review, especially regarding the topic of podcasts or any previously published issues. See Correspondence for instructions. 1:05:17 Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Kyle, secretary * * * “I’m a well-known bad MIDI keyboardist.”

This week, we're making two of pop culture's most iconic ducks face off in a no-holds-barred fight to the finish! Actually, we're playing two pleasant, low-stakes platformers, and we're having a good time doing it. Duck expert Dan Reese and duck novice Zoe Bronstein join us to talk the history of the two famous ducks, find a pretty decent CRASH BANDICOOT analog on the N64, and delve into some of the more... unsavory elements of a duck's anatomy. MONSTER PARTY PUTS HORROR UNDER YOUR SKIN! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, know what annoys you when it comes to fright films. That's why they've torn themselves away from their precious bluray players, and turned that irritaiton into podcast GOLD! Let's usher in the New Year with a tempestuous topic that could only be titled... HORROR PET PEEVES!!! What are we sick of? Well, that would be telling. You'll just have to listen to the episode to find out. But would that kill you? We hope not. Because dying is one of our pet peeves. Joining us for this audacious example of audio outrage, is a long time friend of the show, who may just be as pissed off as we are. He's an acclaimed writer, comedian, producer, and unparalled napkin cartoonist, and his given earth name is.... JOHN MATTA! (MATTA NAPKIN, THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, BE COOL SCOOBY DOO!, BEWARE THE BATMAN, DUCK DODGERS, THE JAMIE KENNEDY EXPERIMENT) If this one doesn't make your anger even angrier, you need to kick your anger's ass!
JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO OPEN A BOOK ABOUT SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, OR HORROR MOVIES... JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, return to their extensive genre film guidebook libraries, for another round of America's fast growing game of chance! Beware MONSTER PARTIERS, for... THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN WALKS AMONG US!!! Once again, the boys randomly flip through various film reference books like THE PYSCHOTRONIC ENCYCLOPEDIA TO FILM, and THE CREATURE FEATURES MOVIE GUIDE. When their cocktails tell them the moment is right, they stop on a page, blindly stab a finger at an entry, and discuss said entry. What ensues, can only be described as... life affirming! Returning to MONSTER PARTY and THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN, is an old friend who is a writer/actor/producer, and the man who made SHAMROCK SHAKES sexy... KEN DALY! (NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL, THE SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, DUCK DODGERS, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, QUINCY M.E., THE KARATE KID) Try playing this game yourselves! It may just save your marriage. NOTE: During this episode, we experienced a cocktail versus soundboard incident. So if you hear any fluctuations in sound quality, blame Matt Weinhold.
HOLY TOPIC, MONSTER PARTIERS! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN (kind of), LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, take a totally biased look at those struggling second bananas, doing what they can to get their fair share of the spotlight. Feast your ears on... THE BEST & WORST SIDEKICKS!!! Joining us once again is a writer, producer, and performer, who as a child actor, introduced the world to Chicken McNuggets! He's more than just a guest, he's MONSTER PARTY family. Please welcome back... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SUPER ADVENTURE TEAM, MR. SHOW, DUCK DODGERS, STAN AGAINST EVIL) In this episode, we not only dissect what it takes to make a good & bad sidekick, we lament the absence of a sidekick of our own. Due to a medical emergency, SHAWN SHERIDAN regretfully had to miss the recording this episode. However, he did manage to provide us with his own "Best & Worst Sidekick" list, straight from his hospital bed! Shawn's perfectly fine now, but not having him on the mic, showed us just how much we need him. That being said, Ken, you're resume was very impressive. LONG LIVE SHAWN SHERIDAN!!!
MegaDeth Era 3 - MegaDave - Discography Roundtable: Bakko, LC and Joey Haynie of Rock Strikes Ten return (finally) to discuss and crack wise about the least celebrated - but most interesting era of the Deth saga. Over 7 albums and 18 years the body count of band members pile up like a slasher film. Dave sits on his hand and can't play guitar "ever again," remixes, re-records vocals of his entire catalog, guests on Duck Dodgers, goes to rehab, writes a questionable number of songs for video games, and is without Dave "Jr." Ellefson for over a decade. We talk in detail of highs and lows of this period with more references to Enuff Z' Enuff and Hanson then one would expect. Albums covered: World Needs a Hero, System has Failed, United Abominations, EndGame, 13, Super Collider, Dystopia
Once again, MONSTER PARTY seeks guidance from a mass produced plastic skull! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, leave their decision making to chance, when they return to a topic that's part nerd talk, part game show. It's the... REVENGE OF TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL!!! You remember how this goes! We fill a plastic skull with a bunch of topic ideas written on small pieces of paper, we each pick one at random, then discuss it until someone throws a punch. And, this goes on for over two hours! Fun, right?! The last time we played this game, we were joined by acclaimed comedian, writer, and cartoonist... JOHN MATTA! (THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW, BEWARE THE BATMAN, DUCK DODGERS, STAY COOL SCOOBY DOO, MATTA NAPKIN) This time we pulled some strings, ordered some honey walnut shrimp, and managed to book...guess who? JOHN MATTA!!!! But, not only do we have this long time friend and supporter of MONSTER PARTY returning to the show, we also have actress, model, and daughter of Gaylord St. James (the father in the original LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT!) ...JOLINE TOWERS! Sure, this is a game you could play with your own friends, but, wouldn't you rather play it with us? C'mon, don't be a clown!
This time, MONSTER PARTY does it by the book! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, have created a game more challenging than the one where they see who can be the first to get so drunk, they can't say the word, "shapeshifter." It's... THE MAD MOVIE SMACKDOWN!!! The rules are simple: We pick a genre movie guidebook like, The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film, or John Stanley's Creature Feature Movie Guide; close our eyes, flip through the pages, and randomly jab our fingers at a film entry. Whatever come up...we have to discuss! No matter how obscure, or awful it is. Sounds fun, right? RIGHT?!!! Joining us for this terrifying game of nerd Russian Roulette, is returning friend of the show, actor/writer/dungeon master... KEN DALY! (THE KARATE KID, MR. SHOW WITH BOB AND DAVID, DUCK DODGERS, NERD POKER, STAN AGAINST EVIL) WARNING: If you plan on playing this game at home, please drink somewhat irresponsibly.
This month, Nat, Cody, and Robert journey back to the 1950s and a Warner Bros. double feature of Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century and Them!. Plus a look back at some of our favorite movies of 2016.
Daffy wants to be cast in something other than a comedy. So we get to see some of his earlier work, and he does indeed get to create a new Duck Dodgers short! Something to be thankful for, indeed!
On this week's episode, Alex and Brandon chat about why rollercoasters are more terrifying than skydiving.Alex and Brandon are together once more, this time to celebrate the show hitting the big 3-0. Brandon starts things off with the ABC's of Geekdom segment, this week talking about a large, yellow man from Springfield. After that, Alex gets into the corrections, including Robin, the girl wonder, Phineas and Ferb, CSI, Portal, Lion King, Frozen, Disney movies, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Giancarlo Esposito, Doctor Strange, The Batman, Stan Lee, Turok the Dinosaur Hunter, BioShock, Duck Dodgers, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. After a quick break, the boys come back to talk about some new trailers, including, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Get Out, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and Underworld, Blood Wars. Next, they cover the news from the past week, including more Pokémon news, new additions to the cast of The Punisher, Cameron Cuff being cast as Seg-El in Krypton, and title announcements for three upcoming movies; the Blade Runner Sequel, the thrid stand-alone Wolverine movie, and the stand-alone Batman movie. With all of that covered, the boys do a new top 5 list, which is so good it will make you want to go fly a kite. Then, they have a nice lengthy email segment reading questions and comments from the wonderful listening audience, which fills Alex's heart with joy. Before closing out the show, the boys engage in a new round of Fan Fic Fights, this time debating over two monstrous opponents.Last but not least, Alex chose the next movie for us all to watch and discuss, and went with Snowpiercer. Neither Alex or Brandon have seen this movie or know much of anything about it, so they'll be coming in fresh and want to know what you have to say. On this week's episode, Alex and Brandon chat about who has better hair. First, Alex and Brandon return to the newest segment of the show, which they totally forgot last week, the ABC's of Geekdom. This week was Brandon's turn to pick something to do with the letter B, which resulted in a fun discussion. After that, they correct mistakes from the last show including topics on: Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, 101 Dalmatians, Harry Potter, Santa Claus, Superman X, Legion of Superheroes, Dragonball Z, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Loonatics Unleashed, Duck Dodgers, Osmosis Jones, Static Shock, Generator Rex, Codename: Kids Next Door, HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Chowder, The Superhero Squad Show, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, Pokémon, Nintendo Land, Ducktales Remastered, Brie Larson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Transfomers, and Jumanji. After all of that, they finally cover some news from the last week, including trailers for Injustice 2, LEGO Dimensions, Pokémon Sun and Moon, LEGO Star Wars: the Freemaker Adventures, and The Legend of Tarzan, as well as discussing J. K. Simmons' ridiculous muscles, John Boyega's casting in Pacific Rim 2, the announcement of a sequel to The Passion of the Christ, Kenneth Choi's casting in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Alex talks about the games and shows he's indulged in for the last week. The boys also cover one of Alex's favorite movies, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (spoilers (what little there is to spoil) from around 1:55:35-2:02:00). Last but not least, there is a new Fan Fic Fights Segment to close out the show.Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @AtariAlex, and @Megsikouicorean.
