The Fort is told solely by current and former members of the Armed Forces. Many are speaking for the first time. A Royal Marines raid on a Taliban stronghold has been met with fierce resistance - leaving Lance Corporal Mathew Ford missing behind enemy lines. Commander of the Information Exploitation Battlegroup Lieutenant Colonel Rob Magowan is presented with a live drone feed revealing the location of the Royal Marine. And he's warm. But a ground rescue attempt heading straight back into the hornets' nest presents formidable danger. Attack helicopter pilot Tom O'Malley has a plan - to fly in at speed with four armed volunteers on the sides of two Apaches. They will quickly grab Mathew and deliver him to safety from under the noses of the Taliban. But fuel is low and the clock is ticking. They need an answer now. And Lieutenant Colonel Rob Magowan says: "Do it."But who will go? Former Royal Engineer Captain Dave Rigg and serving Royal Marine Captain Chris Fraser-Perry take up the story. Produced by Kev Core

Melissa and Mark Hortman's children released their first statement since the assassination of their parents on Saturday. In that statement, Sophie and Colin Hortman said, “the best way to honor our parents' memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else.” One of the ways they said to do that is to “pet a dog. A golden retriever is ideal, but any will do.” Melissa and Mark had a beloved golden retriever named Gilbert, who they adopted from an Eden Prairie nonprofit called Helping Paws. Officials announced Monday that Gilbert also did not survive the shooting. Helping Paws trains service dogs for people with disabilities as well as first responders and veterans dealing with PTSD. The Hortmans were avid volunteers with the organization. Alyssa Golob is the executive director of Helping Paws and she joined MPR News host Nina Moini on Minnesota Now.

Today, Hunter spoke with Emmy Award winning documentarian and investigative journalist, Gianna Toboni to discuss her new book The Volunteer: The Failure of the Death Penalty and One Inmate's Quest to Die with Dignity. In this book, Gianna tells the story of Scott Dozier. He was on death row in Nevada for two separate homicide convictions, but despite him volunteering to be executed, forces both inside and outside of the prison prevented the state from executing him. Ultimately, Dozier took his own life after a few weeks on a mental health, solitary confinement hold. How did this all happen and what can we learn about the death penalty in America? All those questions and more in today's episode. SUMMARYWe didn't have a lot of set topics this week so we laid out a few hypothetical scenarios to get things started, discussing our answers to what we'd google search in 2030 (13:04), which habitat we'd rather be stuck in (19:53) and if we'd want to share our unfiltered thoughts at all times (34:43). We also get into the story about Carlee Russell and if it was all fake (43:20), how it reminds us of Jussie Smollett (1:06:48) and so much more!GEM OF THE WEEK"Accepting the emotion you're feeling gives the power back to you. As a young immigrant to the US, Akshay overcame drug addiction, PTSD from fighting in Iraq with the Marines, depression and alcoholism that pushed him to the brink of suicide. By falling in love with his demons, he has since: - Run 167 miles across post-war Liberia to build a school. - Despite 4 biological defects including a blood disorder that 2 doctors said would kill him in boot camp, he is now a sponsored athlete and have run many ultra marathons, including an 80 mile run around a 0.2 mile loop and a 50 miler around a cul-de-sac during the quarantine. - Spent 7 days in darkness, isolation and silence where he experienced DMT-induced, psychedelic hallucinations. - Based on his life experience and years of research in neuroscience, psychology and spirituality, written the book Fearvana, about which the Dalai Lama said “Fearvana inspires us to look beyond our own agonizing experiences and find the positive side of our lives.” All the profits from the book are being donated to charity. - Explored the most hostile environments on the planet, from mountains to underwater caves to polar icecaps - where he spent one month dragging a 190 pound sled 350 miles in temperatures as low as -40 degrees. - Volunteered in leper colonies, worked with victims of sex trafficking, taught Fearvana to former child soldiers, done humanitarian work in post-conflict zones and worked with those in extreme poverty.
I continue my conversation with esteemed author and consciousness researcher Betty J. Kovacs, PhD. Her most recent book Merchants of Light, The Consciousness that is Changing the World addresses the expansion of the collective consciousness from self-consciousness to Cosmic Consciousness. It is a process thousands of years in the making, and you are a vital part of it.Indeed, Betty makes the point - and I agree with her - that beings have come from all over the Universe to participate in this project that has Cosmic Consequences. In this episode, we discuss a wide range of topics, and you can learn about:The power of the heart and the re-emergence of the Divine FeminineHow repetitive spiritual practices (of our ancestors) cause the various brain components to integrateThe importance of heart/brain coherence. The plan behind the Great ResetThe purpose of UFOsThere's a lot packed into this one conversation. I encourage you to listen to it at least twice - and take notes!RESOURCES: The Kamlak CenterMerchants of Light: The Consciousness that is Changing the WorldThank you for listening to Evolving Humans! Taking place in the 1950s and formally ending in 1973 MK Ultra was a government based program that looked into the capabilities of mind control. This week on Hidden In The Shadows we dive deep and discuss the events and experiments that took place during the 20 year experimental programs. Starting out as a more structured project put on by the CIA ended abruptly after repeated abuse was found and in 1975 a congressional investigation took place looking into the project. Volunteered and unvolunteered persons were subjected to countless doses of LSD and other drugs as well as put into situations that completely broke down the mind and left them vulnerable for a series of dark events. With the MK Ultra events it also gave birth to a bunch of conspiracy theories. In this episode we break down the experiments, the events, if the CIA was successful and actually succeeded in mind control, and finally our views and theories on more of the paranormal aspect of the whole project and into the conspiracy theories! This episode is definitely an interesting one and we hope you enjoy it!We'll Catch You Weirdos In The Next One..What's coming next? : An episode all about the Astral Plane! Catch it next week!
