What You'll Hear:   Matt grew up in a Christian family and went to a very conservative church At age 20 "I cried out 'I'm so lonely", that was the first honest conversation I had with God...I thought 'I love Jesus, I love God and I want more of this" First job was pulling weeds as a gardener and the landscaper in the summer in Oregon With YWAM, Matt did missions on a small island and in Hong Kong and Singapore In 2005 he started a business consulting firm in Singapore that includes training and communication "I translate the Kingdom of God into business material, into engaging people and working with them" " I had no idea you could have such rich and meaningful conversations in the marketplace" "My role is to figure out who they are, how they're unstuck and how to get them unstuck" "One of the weaknesses with evangelicalism is that we don't really love people, we don't want to meet them where they are, we just want to get them saved" "The first question people struggle with and that God asks us is 'where are you?', that's one of the most profound questions we can ask" "Day to day, being authentic, getting to know someone is the missing piece sometimes" "be present without being anxious or reactive, that's the discipline of maturity...that's the mastery of Jesus" "you don't want to get into a difficult situation and not have trained...you practice your reactions with your wife and kids" "Very few people have theology questions, what's driving those questions is a broken heart" "The only Being in the universe who doesn't have to ask questions comes into our broken and rebellious world and the first thing He does is ask 3 questions. 'where are you?', 'who told you?', and 'have you eaten?'" "Asking questions ought to be one of our highest priorities" and "not questions that are statements in disguise"  "When I stepped out of missions, I realized that secretly I had carried a little bit of arrogance in my heart that I was doing spiritual work by doing missions and that now that I was outside of it I wasn't doing spiritual work" "The reason the church is in the shape it's in is because we haven't taken the full counsel of God" "This whole idea that we're to leave God out is absurd...all they're really saying is 'just leave us alone'" "God is interested in all areas of life and has something to say about all areas of life" "Anytime you're fighting for control, you're not fighting for the Kingdom of God" Contact www.brokentopleadership.com for daily devotional or go to www.MatthewRawlins.org

Today I thought that I’d do a get to know me, so I'll be answering some of your questions from Instagram and emails! I never did "formal" get to know me episode, or like a launch episode, so this is another way for you to learn about me on a deeper level! I've obviously introduced myself. I've shared a lot of personal information, but I want to take the time answer your questions! Thank you so much to everyone for all of your questions. I appreciate you taking the time to write to me. When I was going through your questions, I noticed that a lot of them were about my personal life and others were great questions that you can apply to your own life. If I don’t answer your specific question today, it’s because I’m saving it for another episode so with that being said, I hope you find this very valuable and let’s dive in! WHAT YOU'LL HEAR ( questions I'm answering ) Marlena: What is the toughest part of having a podcast? Kate: How long have you and Pedro been together and what is your biggest argument? Julie: When did you start getting specific with your routines? Leonne: How did you get comfortable going outside of your comfort zone? Sarah: When did you overcome your eating disorder? Kimberly: Do you have any siblings? Maria: How did you respond to bullies and how long were you bullied for? Keira: Thanks Sydney for your podcast. You've really inspired me to work on my daily routines and take more time for me whenever I can. I'm still in college, but started a graphic design business and am really struggling with putting myself out there. I want to market myself through videos and get involved in my community, but my anxiety gets the best of me. How do I force myself to do these things with my anxiety? What You'll Hear:   Robert grew up in Elizabethtown, TN in a Christian environment.  He doesn't remember a time when he wasn't trusting Jesus as his savior.  When he was 11-12 yr old, an evangelist challenged him to make sure, so he prayed that night and gained assurance of his salvation His teen years were pretty lonely and confused.   Robert knew God wanted him to go to Columbia International University.  When he got there his new roommate Bill McCoy showed up and he was full of excitement about Jesus, which compared to Robert's confusion about Jesus. Bill challenged Robert to totally yield himself to Christ, so Robert knelt down and yielded his life to Christ.  This was the single most life changing moment of his life. Robert and Bill have since stayed friends for 45 years One of the greatest evangelistic tools available is our hope.  It helps when we have a consistent walk with God There should be something about our demeanor that sets us apart from others "As in a friendship or a marriage, we’re either drawing nearer to God or drifting from Him all the time" - this is also true with our relationships at work.  We're either going forward and or going backward. Fear and worry tighten you up. Faith relaxes you.  Practice the presence of God all day long.  You have to cultivate it and work on it.  Begin every day with prayer and Bible study.  Write out your agenda for the day and commit it to the Lord. "I feel that God has assigned our work to us in one day increments" From James, we see that being close to God includes resisting the devil. God has 2 addresses, pervasive and personal.  From Isaiah we see that God lives in the highest realms of heaven and the humblest parts of earth. Sophie Lichtenfels as a maid and Brother Lawrence as a worker in the kitchen were great examples of Colossians 3 and being close to God while they worked.  Wherever we work is holy ground because of God's presence. The Practice of the Presence of God was written by Brother Lawrence and was an inspiration for Robert's book God’s order is Facts, Faith, Feelings.  Your feelings is not a determination of God's nearness in our life.  "Our feelings come and go, our attitudes come and grow" You can remember God's order with a train.  The locomotive is facts.  The passenger car is faith.  The caboose is your feelings. God being near can be in terms of His presence as well as time. See Philippians 4 and 2 Peter 3. "We're not citizens in this world on our way to heaven, we're citizens of heaven going through this world" Go to www.RobertJMorgan.com Nothing has helped Robert to practice the presence of God more than to memorize scripture

What You'll Hear:   12 years ago at 33 yrs old Jason was on a mountain top in life, having everything he ever wanted, but he checked himself into a hotel intending to kill himself because he was so lost spiritually He got a call about a business opportunity.  At a meeting the next day the man asked him if he knew Jesus Jason had been asked this before, but this man shared Bible scriptures that were deeply profound to Jason The man wrote down the verses and Jason looked at them later that night and for the first time felt like he was reading truth He went to buy his first Bible and started reading it, he sometimes cried and felt like God was there Jason felt his heart felt exploding for God in the way it would for a girl His first 5 years knowing the Lord he was sometimes frustrated because he hadn't lead someone to God the way he had been lead to God Jason and his wife moved and started at a new church. The executive pastor took him to coffee repeatedly and cared about Jason Jason learned that it's not about having an agenda to fix or help a person, but to feel first inside of himself a real care and love for that person His Pastor would say that there should always be one or two people in your life that you're discipling Jason cares deeply about everyone who works for him including the details about their lives Because he spent his first 33 years as a borderline atheist, Jason feels very comfortable connecting with unbelievers A great way to begin a discussion, especially if you plan to give any advice, is to admit that you can't get by one day without sinning and to share your failures God has no measuring stick for sin, it's either sin or it's not Whether you're a Pastor of a church or a plumber, whatever you are, God views zero difference in your ministry Love people when you're working, honor them Jason talks about God in basically every meeting he has God wastes nothing no matter what you're doing at your work God parted a Red Sea and He will part a Red Sea for you if you walk away from something bad You're not going to always like everything you do at your job God sometimes raises people up to make an example of them Sometimes God will give someone a toy so they realize they will never be satisfied To reach Jason, check out his companies at: One One 7 One One 7 First Company Management First Company Management, Awaken Records Awaken Records Radar Label Group Radar Label Group.

What You'll Hear:   What the Bible calls our inner being is the matrix of what makes up how we think, our character, our affections, we live out of our heart That inner being has a view of self, God, and others and sometimes has wounds The relative health of what's on your inside will get projected to your life, relationships and profession To the degree pyschology is a truth process, it's good and helpful. The truest thing about us is what God says is true about us We're created by God, we're created for God, and we're going to God The mental health of the average U.S. Christian man is not so good There's been a disintegration of family and family connection and fragmentation We have 25 yr old 12 year olds, who have used their influence and power to hurt women and children We need more Dads in the home to provide more love and boundaries for their kids The solution is right in front of us, the courage to acknowledge it is just not there The world wants an outside in approach (gun control, education, drug use), the Bible has an inside out approach: an encounter with a living God Men are the failed brand in our culture and depression is a huge issue Our culture is down on men and up on women Men retreat into fantasy and porn and gaming because they feel sad The majority of people committing suicide are men, not women, that is the devil's endgame-death To the degree that medication helps a person engage in reality, God, and function it's a good thing A medicated person still has a character and still needs to make a choice You need Christ in your life to mentor you into spiritual and pyschological health The expectation in the West is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and we believe the fantasy narrative about how life is supposed to be and our expectations are idealized Jesus said that in this world you're going to have trouble Most people in the West try to build their lives to escape trouble If Jesus is an accessory to my life, that's not the Christian life Suicide is a huge problem and is demonic, it's rooted in believing a lie 22 service men and women every day are taking their own lives Suicide has accelerated recently partly because of the fragmentation created by social media We have to let God answer the big question of life of who we are We're created by God, we're created for God, and we're going to God God says, in-between now and then, get to know Me, and let Me show you how to live Go to www.EveryManMinistries.com, on Twitter kenny_luck

What You'll Hear:   Raleigh wasn't growing up in a Christian household. He was invited to a vacation Bible School and they had cookies He later prayed to receive Christ at 8 years old, though he doubted it for years He is the founder and Exec Director of Let My People Go, a non-profit dedicated to stopping human trafficking which is the exploitation of vulnerability for commercial gain He had his dream job as a campus pastor in West Virginia when they phased out his job.  At the same time, God was calling him to be involved in the issue of human trafficking A great way to find what God is doing is to seek out those most vulnerable Our churches often reflect us, our socio-economic background.  We like to be comfortable It's easy to love those who are clean and aren't dealing with trauma. God is calling us to love those of His choosing, not those of our choosing We can seek out those most vulnerable in the workplace, just like in our high school cafeteria If we want to get to know someone, we have to actually sit down, and hear their story on their terms If we do this, it will broaden and will deepen our dependence on the Gospel Vulnerability is not easy, but it's worth it When we talk to people and are being transparent in a way where we're actually risking something, people open up Men have been taught that emotional constipation is the norm and something to which we should aspire If we focus on self protection, we'll never be free to protect others The Pharisees used their religiosity as a mask and hid behind it, as Christians we often hide behind our own masks and we aren't vulnerable If you're not vulnerable with God, you're not going to be vulnerable with others There's a big difference between the theology of the glory and the theology of the cross Human trafficking can happen anywhere because there are vulnerable people anywhere Human trafficking includes sex trafficking, but also labor and domestic servitude Debt bondage involves a trafficker making someone owe them something and continues to increase the debt Your brokenness could ultimately point someone to wholeness Go to www.thevulnerablebook.com or www.lmpgnetwork.org

What You'll Hear:   Kenny was the last of 7 children.  His Dad was in the military and was like a ghost Kenny felt ignored and was on a broken quest for recognition and visibility By age 17 Kenny made a lot of money and had friends but was very empty.  He came home from a party and prayed a prayer of desperation and said to Jesus "I need to see you", he felt an incredible presence in his mind and heart of acceptance and had a burning bush moment. 2 months later he went to UCLA, started attending a Bible study and never looked back That kind of encounter is available to all believers In College he got involved in Campus Crusade for Christ and had great men discipling me.  He joined the staff at Campus Crusade for Christ working with Josh McDowell, then went into the marketplace and ended up CEO of a company while attending Saddleback Church and then became a lay pastor He was Men's pastor at Saddleback from 2000-2014 We need to trust God with timing of job changes, He doesn't wear our watch If a man wants to go into full-time ministry, often he thinks falsely it will be easier and he'll feel better in ministry vs a position in the marketplace We need to look in the mirror and check ourselves and get counsel Your life in God will never outperform your view of God God has you here for a purpose.  Your first purpose at work is to be productive.  A big mistake is when a Christian's work product doesn't reflect the God they want to talk about The best employees are the ones who act like an owner.  They care as much about the company as those who founded it.  God is then pleased and management is pleased. The Gospel in deed makes a path for you to share the Gospel in word We are in a spiritual battle when it comes to our marriage and there are forces against our marriage Our marriage needs to be protected and defended by two people Kenny wrote his book "Dangerous Good" because men want to do great things and be dangerous with goodness like a superhero.  After realizing they can't be a superhero they try be dangerous in bad ways, the rip-off version of an identify for men Jesus broke the rules for the male culture of His time Well tell the stories when we take risk The life we think is risky, such as with sex or money or doing unethical things, these types of risk make a man selfish and horrible at relationships.  Jesus said to take risks on loving Him and loving people, and then our lives will be filled with purpose and meaning Jesus said He came so we would have life and to the full We're made by God, we're made for God, and we're going back to God.  If we get those 3 things we're going to be living a full life The truest thing about you is what God says is true about you Say Yes to a relationship with God and yes to a relationship with other believers, God will take you the rest of the way We can have a revolution of identity as a child of the King and then a revolution of being a shining light of men who are dangerous with goodness as in the book of Acts When God wants to do something big He starts with the men The church has the women and kids around the world.  It's waiting on the men. Something I've been noticing on the podcast lately is I'm talking less with guests about what they do and more about how they're doing and what they're up to in life overall. Today's conversation felt like one of those. My guest, Kathryn Budig is an internationally celebrated yoga teacher and author known for her accessibility, humor, and ability to empower her students through her message, "aim true." Her big truth was about finding happiness within the pursuit of success. From there we discussed a variety of ways the pursuit of success makes us unhappy. From pursuing things because we think we "should" to the ways we use social media, seek validation and other forms of self-compromise. We talked about sustaining ourselves vs pushing or hustling and we also explored feeling comfortable in our skin as our bodies change and we go through difference phases, her experience of coming out in a relationship with a woman after her divorce from her husband. To say this one is packed and juicy is an understatement. Enjoy! About Kathryn Budig: Kathryn Budig is an internationally celebrated yoga teacher and author known for her accessibility, humor, and ability to empower her students through her message, “aim true.” The Kansas native graduated from the University of Virginia with a double degree in English and Drama before moving to Los Angeles, where she trained at Yogaworks under the tutelage of her mentors, Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller. With over a decade of experience in her field, Budig served as the yoga editor to Women’s Health magazine for five years, contributed recipes and sat on the Yahoo Health Advisory Board, and regularly contributes to Yoga Journal, The New Potato, and MindBodyGreen. What You'll Hear:   Mike was baptized in the Catholic church as an infant.  In college his faith was re-invigorated after attending non-Catholic Christian churches He attended Miami University of Ohio and joined ROTC to help pay for college.  After college he went to intelligence school His scariest moment in the military was when he was in Iraq the 2nd time.  A large rocket landed 100 ft away from him.  At least a dozen were killed.  If you don't hear rockets or artillery you know you're in trouble. Mike's most proud and most difficult moment was when he was on a team that introduced the MC12 bi-plane - they went through the form/storm/norm/perform process For the last 5 years, he's worked for Caterpillar with sellers of their supplies in Supply Chain There is more camaraderie in the military, but in the private sector there is more freedom Living out his faith in the corporate world can be challenging.  His approach has been to be friends with colleagues first.  Once they get to know you and trust you, opportunities come up to share your faith. The acronym JOY has helped Mike. Focus on Jesus, then others, and finally yourself.  Bad times happen if we focus inwardly and on our own self-interests. Our military is still the best in the world.  Limitations are on aging infrastructure. The military, like any organization, can be too politicized, but our military is one of the best institutions in the US. Mike wrote a lot in college and over the years, and recently finished a draft of a fiction novel called Cornerstone.   It involves a convention of citizens meeting to fix their government.  It gives a lot of history and is wrapped around a love story taking place in 10th Century England.  It's part of a trilogy.  The first book is mostly about male spirituality. It started after Mike got involved with Convention of States, an organization that wants to use Article 5 of the Constitution to reduce the size of the federal government. To decide what to do with your life, think about what is your passion, what motivates you, what are you good at, rely on others to help you, try to know yourself. Try to find a mentor to help you navigate where you want to go.  Be willing to learn. You may have to pursue some of your passions, interests, and purpose outside of your full-time job, and that's OK. Write it down, pray about it, talk to people who will give you honest, constructive feedback. He has several mentors in different industries.  Your church is a good place to find a mentor.  Ask your boss at work if there is a mentorship program.  Also professional organizations. Prioritize and budget your time.  Write down how you spend your time each day. The greatest misunderstanding men have about their work is what work is for. The goal of your work is to glorify God.  Use the opportunity to form relationships with people.  When you have a chance, share your faith. We're all called to love one another.  My faith keeps me honest and accountable One way to maximize your commute time is to hold meetings. He tries to unwind and listen to Christian music. Life verse is the prodigal son story in Luke 15.  Fatherhood is so important. To celebrate the start of 2017, this episode is dedicated to spotlighting  7 powerful episodes and remembering what they taught us about our wellness path in 2016. It has been such an incredible year on the Wellness Force Radio podcast! There have been so many amazing guests who have opened up to us to share their stories and teach us how we can improve our health and wellness. On this episode, you will listen to seven inspiring conversations for seven steps to greater wellness in 2017. Gretchen Rubin: The Secret to Habit Change (Episode 051) Melissa Hartwig: Food Freedom Forever (episode 071) Dr. Jade Teta: The 5 Metabolic Myths (episode 067) Dr. John Gray - ADHD, Brain Health, & Sex Addiction (Episode 046) Gay & Katie Hendricks - Love vs Fear: Body Intelligence in a Modern World (Episode 055) Drew Canole - Self-Love, Juicing, and Transformation (Episode 078) Mark Divine: Creating the Unbeatable Mind (Episode 086) If you’re listening to the Wellness Force Radio podcast for the first time, this will be a unique experience for you to get in touch with the types of guests and topics we dive deep with on the show. If you're a returning listener, this will be an incredible chance for you to absorb seven powerful concepts from these world-class leaders to help you in 2017.   Gretchen Rubin: The Secret to Habit Change    "Unfortunately, we've all learned from tough experience that no magic, one-size-fits-all solution exists and that the real secret to habit change is that in order to change our habits, we must first know ourselves." -  Gretchen Rubin   According to Gretchen, the secret to habit change is to get to know ourselves through self exploration and awareness. We're not all the same and we need to understand what makes us happy and motivated to work hard.  One great example that Gretchen gave was the difference between some one enjoys simplicity vs. abundance. One person may work great in a simple environment with no clutter, but maybe another person feels energized in an office stacked with books and other collections.  Once you've found what helps you stay motivated, you can create new habits to keep that motivation going while respecting other people's differences and what motivates them at the same time.    Melissa Hartwig: Food Freedom Forever    "Food scientists have engineered chemicals and processed foods that light up the reward centers in the brain for a different reason than nature intended. Not because they provide vital nutrition, but because they're scientifically designed to stimulate our taste buds." - Melissa Hartwig   It is said that the gut is our body's second brain because if we pay close attention to it, it can tell us when we're full and what nutrition we need. During this podcast episode, Melissa discussed the difference between Satiation and Satiety and how they can help us create healthy habits.  What is Satiation? Satiation is your brain's perception that you've had enough food and you're done eating. Satiation basically occurs when you're sick of eating. Maybe your mouth is tired from chewing food, you're sick of the taste of the food that you're eating, or you're so full that you can't even eat anything else.  Satiation can easily happen when you've eaten foods such as popcorn, brownies, chocolate or any food that's difficult to stop eating once you've started. For me, it's super hard to stop eating chips with salsa and/or guacamole.    What is Satiety? Satiety takes place in the stomach when the body knows that it has enough various nutrients to be full and satisfied as far as survival goes. When you eat a grass-fed steak with green vegetables and perhaps some healthy fats, your body has had enough without you needing to over consume other foods.  How can we begin to focus on eating more foods that help us feel satiety? Focus on consuming foods that nature intended for us to eat. Stay away from overly processed foods with lots of preservatives and sugars and eat natural fruits, vegetables, proteins, and healthy fats. Focus on eating satiety foods so that you get to a place where you can trust the signals that your gut, not your brain, is telling you.    Dr. Jade Teta: The 5 Metabolic Myths    "Metabolism is designed to keep us in homeostasis and help us adapt to the stresses of the world around us whether that stress is sleep deprivation, decreased calories, over exercising, or emotional stress." - Dr. Jade Teta   During the episode with Dr. Jade Teta, he explained what the difference is between Dieters and Detectives. Dieters go by the rules, but unfortunately, this is what keeps them stuck in the same place or worse as they move form one diet to the next. Dieters follow all of these rules, but there actually aren't any rules at all, just guidelines. That's where the Detectives come in.  Detectives follow the guidelines and learn skills that allow them to be flexible and discover their own nutrition method. Why is this better than following a strict set of rules of what to eat and not eat? Because every person is different and we all have different metabolism.    The Goldilock Zone According to Dr. Teta, the key to finding the right metabolism balance and the perfect amount of nutrition, exercise, and relaxation is to follow the Golidlock Zone method.  You can get in the Goldilock zone when you have not too much, not too little, but just the right amount of: Fats Carbs Proteins Stress Exercise When everything is balanced, your metabolism is right where you want it to be. Just like metabolism, everyone's Goldilock Zone will be unique. To help you get to the Goldilock Zone, focus on HEC. What is HEC? HEC stands for Hunger, Energy, and Cravings. HEC helps you to understand if a diet is working for you. After each meal, pay attention to how your body feels, responds, and what your biomarkers are telling you.    "If your HEC is in check, then your metabolism is balanced."- Dr. Jade Teta    Dr. John Gray - ADHD, Brain Health, & Sex Addiction    "We demand the instant gratification that releases the dopamine in our brain when we're hyper stimulated.  Instead of over simulating our brains, need to bring it back it back to the present moment. We need to be happy with what's here rather than creating drama or addiction." - Dr. John Gray   Our society is always looking for the best, new thing out there. The best TV screens, the best food, the most romantic relationships etc. But our brain can also thrive on sadness, stress, and addiction.  All of these factors and more can give us instant gratification because they release high levels of dopamine in our brains. Once we've experienced this natural stimulation, we keep wanting more or we'll easily get bored. However, if too much dopamine is released into the brain, the body regulates itself and ends up lowering the amount of dopamine sensors. The higher the stimulation, the longer it takes for the sensors to return to normal.  Recover from Hyper Stimulation Not only will time help heal the body from hyper stimulation and high dopamine levels, but a healthy nutrition is key to helping the body recover back to normal.  Rather than being bored with what we have and ready to move one, we need to learn to be happy and appreciate what we have in our lives. Looking out for and buying the latest TV will only give you instant gratification; it cannot bring you pure joy and happiness in your life.  Nutrition is key, but so are minerals such as lithium. With just the right amount of lithium and another alkalizing minerals such as potassium and calcium, they can help lower our amount of stress. However, too much lithium can create high levels of anxiety.    Gay & Katie Hendricks - Love vs. Fear:Body Intelligence in a Modern World    "Love will triumph because love is bigger than fear. You can test that out in your own being by noticing what happens when you love your fear. Suddenly a whole new world opens up." - Gay Hendricks   For some people, self-love is something that can be difficult to find and tap into. However, if we don't love or honor ourselves, then we cannot honestly begin to trust and get to know ourselves.    "I saw that down at the bottom of everything, you're either in love or in fear at any given moment. That you're either open to cherishing yourself, cherishing other people, the universe around you, you're opening to listening, you're opening to being present OR you're scared about something and that shuts you down." - Gay Hendricks   To better understand ourselves, Gay suggests that we think about something that we're afraid of. We need to discover that fear, feel it, and love it. Love that fear just like you love a person and with all of that positive emotion, you can use that love as a means to start loving yourself just the way you are.    Drew Canole - Self-Love, Juicing, and Transformation    "A lot of people are trying to find what they're purpose is. When you clear your space and put yourself in a place where you can just start listeneing more, your purpose is going to show up. It's that thing that's always more or less been there, but you don't think is possible." - Drew Canole   The people that we spend the most time with can say a lot about who we are and what we want out of life. During Drew's interview with Josh, he explained how Tribe Affects Our Vibe.  Each year, Drew takes time to get a clear picture of himself. What he loves about himself, but also what he dislikes and disapproves. Do the same for yourself and then think about people who you think are the same or have similar personal growth development goals.  You create your tribe by finding and connecting with people who have the same vibe going on. People who share similar characteristics. If you are or want to be a certain way, you'll bring similar people into your life. Transforming Your Life By Finding Your WHY Drew also spoke about the Whydentity Process and discovering a why that makes us cry. This is the moment when we identify with the identity that we have in mind with who we are. Your why is your joy or reason as to why you like something. If we can find joy in something that we're doing, we can create something amazing. In the moment that you find your why, you will omit self-love, happiness, and success. So much so that it rubs off on other people and they will feel passionate about something that they love too.    Mark Divine: Creating the Unbeatable Mind    "The Warrior Master is someone who is extremely humble. It is someone who is extremely emotionally grounded and has cultivated a love for his teammates that is uncommon and also has a love for his enemies. They realize that everyone has the same essence. It's just what's layered on top that makes us different." - Mark Divine   We learned something important about the power of love and respecting other people when Mark Divine spoke on the podcast.  Sometimes, it can be difficult to open our hearts to other people. Especially if we've experienced trauma such as PTSD, it's not easy to open up after feeling shut down for so long. But if there's two things that Mark learned during his 20 years as a Marine, it's that a warrior is committed to two things: Self Mastery and Service.  However, we can't serve if we don't work on ourselves and many people do not have the training and methodology to work towards mastery. Mastery is just as important as sleeping, eating, and simply being. To reach self mastery and service, we need to grow emotionally so that our intuition can develop and our hearts become softer.  Loving Our Enemies The Master Warrior loves their enemies and recognizes that we are all humans with the same essence. We all have a being. Not only do we love our enemies, but we respect them and that is also a form of love. In returner, the love and respect we have for our enemies will help us grow stronger.      What You'll Hear on the Show 00:30  Podcast Introduction 2:40  Gretchen Rubin: The Secret to Habit Change (Episode 051) 10:00 Melissa Hartwig: Food Freedom Forever (episode 071) 18:40 Dr. Jade Teta: The 5 Metabolic Myths (episode 067) 29:35  Dr. John Gray - ADHD, Brain Health, & Sex Addiction (Episode 046) 42:20  Gay & Katie Hendricks - Love vs Fear: Body Intelligence in a Modern World (Episode 055) 47:00 Drew Canole - Self-Love, Juicing, and Transformation (Episode 078) 56:50 Mark Divine: Creating the Unbeatable Mind (Episode 086) 1:04:45  Final comments by Josh Resources Mentioned on the Show Gretchen Rubin: The Secret to Habit Change (Episode 051) Melissa Hartwig: Food Freedom Forever (episode 071) Dr. Jade Teta: The 5 Metabolic Myths (episode 067) Dr. John Gray - ADHD, Brain Health, & Sex Addiction (Episode 046) Gay & Katie Hendricks - Love vs Fear: Body Intelligence in a Modern World (Episode 055) Drew Canole - Self-Love, Juicing, and Transformation (Episode 078) Mark Divine: Creating the Unbeatable Mind (Episode 086) Damon Gameau: Breaking Free From Sugar (Episode 061)  YouTube: That Sugar Film Trailer The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg The Way of Superior Man by David Deida   Rate & Review Wellness Force Aloha! Spirit Led Men at Work Podcast Shownotes Some of What You'll Hear in This Episode My testimony (past) A bit about me and my interests (present) The format for this podcast (future) Intro My name is Dave Hilgendorf.  I'm a Christian, married with 3 daughters, I work as an engineer, and I'm a part-time author, blogger and podcaster.  On the Spirit Led Men at Work Podcast, I interview Christian men from all walks of life, with varying job titles, who all have one thing in common.  They're all choosing daily to be led by the Holy Spirit at their work.  Because of that they're prospering, glorifying God, and have joy and purpose at their work.  And you can too. Summary of this Episode I share the story of 4 men who are at a men's breakfast, and how on this podcast I want to have a man 3/man 4 type of conversation more so than a man 1/man 2 conversation. I share my testimony by splitting my life into sets of 7 years each and with an emphasis on the people who have had the greatest influence on me. My first 2 sets of 7 up to age 14, I grew up in Chicago and then Wisconsin.  My father and mother were my primary influences, as well as 2 particular teachers, Mrs. Bruhl and Mr. Lisius. From age 15 to 21, I wanted to be a writer and worked at a daily newspaper free lancing.  I share why Monte Hanson made such an impact on me.  In college I had a sinful lifestyle which I regret but thank God for redemption.  I struggled with choosing my major, ending up with Chemical Engineering.  I was primarily money driven.  This is relevant, I think, since selecting our vocation and the type of work we do will be one of the things we discuss on the podcast. From age 22-28, I worked in R&D for General Mills in Minneapolis, MN.  I loved my work and was part of several product launches and received a patent.  John Church, the man who hired me, had a big influence on me in terms of his professionalism, focus on results, and people skills. From age 29-35, I was married briefly and left engineering to become my "own man" as a real estate entrepreneur.  I bought, sold and rented hundreds of properties.  I had some success but ultimately amassed too much debt and my business failed. From age 36-42, I became a born-again Christian, met my wife Kari and adopted her 2 daughters Rachael and Rebecca and we had another daughter together, Renee.  I was involved in men's ministry and Promise Keepers, filed bankruptcy, and I returned to engineering. From age 43 to my present age of 47, I have prospered in my career and am blessed immensely with my family.  I wrote a book "Jesus is at Work" and started blogging at DaveHilgendorf.com about living out your faith at work.  I changed the name to SpiritLedMen.com when I decided to start a podcast "Spirit Led Men at Work". I'm not too big into sports.  I'm interested in politics and I'm very conservative but won't talk about that on the podcast.   I like audio books and one of my favorite authors is Ted Dekker.  I like Christian music, particularly Third Day, David Crowder, Red, Jesus Culture among others. The format of the podcast will have a Christian focus, not self help.  I'll focus on men and on work.  I'll interview men from all different occupations, not just entrepreneurs, and occasionally ministers.  I'm not an expert and will approach this as being one of you searching and exploring what it means to be Spirit led at work. Episodes will be 30-60 minutes in length.  I'll start out with an episode every 2 weeks but as soon as I'm confident I can stay committed to it I'll switch to one each week.  Episodes will come out at 5am on Monday mornings.
