Have you ever felt like your thoughts are running the show—and not in a good way? Maybe you're doing all the right things, showing up in every role you play, but joy still feels out of reach. You smile for everyone else, but inside, your mind is cluttered with worry, overwhelm, and mental exhaustion. And the harder you try to “just stay positive,” the more it feels like a performance… not peace.I've been there, too. And here's the truth most people miss: joy isn't a mood you manufacture—it's a fruit you receive. It's not a personality trait or something you earn by trying harder. Biblical joy is a fruit of the Spirit, a gift from the Holy Spirit that grows when you slow down, renew your mind, and align your thoughts with God's truth. In today's episode, we're exploring how faith-based joy can become your daily mindset reset—even in the middle of a full, multifaceted life. You'll learn how Christian joy strengthens your spirit, anchors your thoughts, and becomes a natural rhythm of your biblical self-care routine—rooted in Christ, not circumstances. So if you're ready to stop spiraling and start standing firm, take a deep breath and settle in. There's a better way to think, live, and care for yourself—and it begins with joy.Scriptures Referenced in the EpisodeGalatians 5:22Hebrews 13:5Deuteronomy 31:6Philippians 4:8Recipes Mentioned in the EpisodeMango Orange Banana SmoothieWant to savor more goodness?I'm so excited you're here! 2nd Sunday in AdventIn our second reading, St. Paul is writing to the Philippians encouraging them that, he is "confident, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus." Biblical scholars would call God the "hound of heaven." We love God because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). Here is how Jesus acknowledged this truth, “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (John 15:16). With these Bible verses in mind one, Francis Thompson described God as “The Hound of Heaven.” God is always in search of his creation and that whatever God begins, He intends to finish. During this holy season of Advent, may God help us to prepare the way of the Lord!Scripture Reading for December 8, 2024Baruch 5:1-9Psalm 126:1-6Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11Luke 3:1-6

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary TimeReceiving an invitation for a special event or gathering is a great feeling. Not only do we feel honored, but celebrating with family and friends is what makes life enjoyable. Today, Jesus tells a parable to the chief priests and elders of the people about a wedding feast. Rich food and drink will be provided!Unfortunately, the invited guests not only reject the invitation, but either return to servile work, ignore the invitation, or kill the messengers who gave them the invitation. Please remember there is a difference between coming to God as we are and meeting God on our own terms. As the Gospel continues, both good and bad alike gathered at the wedding feast. God's invitation to join Him in prayer, the sacraments, and works of service are part of God's grace wanting to work and change our lives. Choose today to respond to the Lord's invitation and join Him at the Supper of the Lamb.Scripture Reading for October 15, 2023Isaiah 25:6-10Psalm 23:1-6Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20Mt 22:1-14

There are many in the church that are chronically limiting their response to convicting messages. Plenty of tears are shed, and even commitments made in response, but people still resist surrendering completely to Jesus to make Him their Lord. Jesus is our ultimate example of surrender, signaling that the continual surrendering of our will is crucial for a Christian.07/16/2023 - Sunday MorningScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Acts 20:17-27II Chronicles 30:8Romans 12:1James 4:7Romans 6:13-19II Corinthians 6:14Matthew 6:24Romans 6:16Acts 9:6Philippians 2:8Philippians 3:8Ruth 1:16-18II Corinthians 12:9

In this episode we discuss the importance of trusting the Lord, and we see how our emotions are indicators of our thoughts. It's our responsibility to meditate upon the Word of God, to ask God for wisdom, and to analyze our thoughts and see if they line up with the truth of God's Word. But we must also be dependent upon the Holy Spirit in this process. Apart from His power, we won't be able to do what we discuss in this episode (see 1 Corinthians 2:11-12). Like Jesus said, "...apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).Here is the declaration I shared in this episode: My emotions are not intrinsically trustworthy, and I am not led by them; rather, it is the Lord and His Word that govern my thoughts and actions. (Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”)Remember, if we don't control our thoughts, they will control us. When we find ourselves sinking like Peter was, we need to pay attention to the thoughts we are thinking that are leading to that. Or, to put it simply: when we find ourselves sinking, ask, "What am I thinking?"Other episodes referenced in this one:Episode 24: The GospelEpisode 44: The renewal of our mindsEpisode 48: Five loaves and two fishScriptures referenced in this episode:Matthew 14:22-33Mark 6:48James 2:26Isaiah 26:3James 1:5-6Romans 12:2Ephesians 4:22-24Matthew 6:25-34John 1:12-13Psalm 56:3-4Psalm 42:11Philippians 4:8-9John 8:44John 14:6Philippians 4:6-7John 10:10John 16:33Romans 8:37**CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS**When I said that "we" had physical bodies in the garden before the fall, I was referring to Adam and Eve, of course. In this episode, Jori discusses with her listeners about the things we are supposed to think about. EPISODE ERRATA and CORRECTIONS:  I mention about 2 sections of the gospels in which Jesus is recorded as talking about not being anxious. I mentioned Mark and Luke. I should have said Matthew and Luke. Later in the podcast, I give references for the scriptures in Matthew and Luke.  Also, I erroneously stated "My Redeemer is faithful and true, as the scripture says."    While scripture is very clear that our Savior- our Redeemer is faithful and is also the Way, the Truth and the Life, there is not just one scripture that says this verbatim. Scripture translation used is the English Standard Version.Scripture quotations are from The ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. In Episode 96, we go deeper into the doctrine called grace, and explore three common myths that many Christians in the community mistakenly believe. The words we use over a certain time begin to lose their true meanings, and this applies with the word “grace”'. Many Christians know the word, but hardly understand it."Grace" is a crucial idea in the Bible, Christianity, and the world. It is most visibly reflected in God's promises revealed in Scripture and personified in Jesus Christ. However, beauty shines brightest against the seemingly gloomy backdrop of another facet of our Creator's essence - divine anger. Grace is a soul-stirring idea that must be truly appreciated while never being controlled or misunderstood.Tune in now and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe to the God Stuff Podcast so you're always first to know when a new episode is released. Episode Timestamps: Introduction [00:00]Words Losing Meaning [03:16]Lordship Salvation & Free Grace Salvation [05:44]Three Myths of Grace [07:47]Myth #1: Grace Means Leniency [08:04]Myth #2: Grace Can't be Earned [11:47]Myth #3: Grace is Universal [18:34]Final Thoughts [21:15]Outro [22:33]Biblical References:Ephesians 1:7Romans 4:4-6Philippians 4:19Matthew 5:45Matthew 7:13-141 John 5:11-121 John 4:8Hebrews 12:29Book References:Alpha Christians: A Manifesto for Menhttps://www.amazon.com./s?k=9781946654304&i=stripbooks&linkCode=qsEnjoy free 1-month enrollment to our online theological school https://www.veritasschool.life/i0ogjjcuAbout Our Host: Bill Giovannetti is the Senior Pastor at Pathway Church, Redding, California — an experienced senior pastor with a demonstrated history of working in the religious institutions industry. Mary Thomas wants to live in a world where the church is undivided, so that we can be a light to the world. When she's not praying and studying her Bible, you can find her in her garden. She loves flowers, various leaf texture and color changes and how intricate they are! She's taught Precept International curriculum for over 20 years, serves in her church missions field in Africa, and intercedes for many. Her favorite Scripture is Philippians 2:1-7: "Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.”Podcast Navigation: 00:00 Introduction01:30 Joel 1:4-2005:00 Why Study the Old Testament?07:00 Curses for Disobedience11:00 What is God saying to us today?12:00 Joel's Instructions14:50 Who/what caused the plague?17:12 Locust Description19:15 The Wrath of God20:30 The Locust Plague in Egypt22:45 The Life Stages of a Locust25:07 First Instruction: Awake27:16 How is sin like a locust?30:35 What can we do about sin?42:00 Lamenting with Sackcloth43:15 The Locusts' Impact on Worship47:00 How fresh is your oil?49:22 Second Instruction: Repent52:04 Ways to Fast 52:30 Why fast?56:57 Joel's One Line Prayer58:00 BenedictionOn this episode, Mary talks about the following references and resources:Yet Even Now Podcast Companion GuideDonate to DWITWJoel 1:4-201 Corinthians 10:11-12Deuteronomy 28:11-472 Timothy 3:16-17Daniel 9:1-19Joel 2:25Isaiah 45:5-7Exodus 10:1-20Genesis 1-2Genesis 4:7Matthew 12:34Proverbs 4:231 John 1:8-91 Corinthians 10:13Proverbs 28:13Psalm 103:11-12Psalm 51Hebrews 12:1-2Ephesians 2:6James 4:7James 1:22-25Ephesians 4:272 Corinthians 10:4-51 Corinthians 5:6Philippians 2:17Psalm 92:101 Samuel 2:12 Corinthians 1:21-22Psalm 36:5-7Isaiah 58:4-12Matthew 6:16-18Matthew 13:1-30Psalm 30:11-13 Current African Locust Plague Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough by Elmer TownsFasting by Jentezen Franklin

Philippians 1:15-18 (NIV): It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice.HOW TO NOT LET MEAN PEOPLE SUCK THE JOY OUT OF YOUHave you ever encountered someone that just seemed to live to make your life miserable? Yep. Me, too. 8/9/20 - Overcoming Pride with Humility - Part 2Sermon NotesAccording to C.S. Lewis, the first step in the pursuit of humility is:Recognizing and admitting how proud and conceited we are.A second step would be to confess this to God and ask Him for help.Third, would be to cultivate the practice of praying for other people. The reason true humility is difficult... is that true humility takes on the form of a servant... and most of us would much rather be served than to serve. Are you humble enough to admit the pride in your life? Are you humble enough to confess your arrogance and conceit? Are you humble enough to pray for and to serve others?Todays Verses1 Peter 5:6Rev. 5:5-6Philippians 2:1-11Ps. 25:9James 4:7-10Is. 2:12-18

Why we chose the subject of pursuing holiness, how SeeKing Holy came about, and what you can expect from this podcast.Hello, daughters of the Most High - welcome to episode 1 of the Seeking Holy podcast! I’m one of your hosts, Jessica Eturralde; and joining me is my co-host for Seeking Holy, Barbara Saunders Livingston, Author of Rescued, Ransomed, Restored. With all going on in the world right now, we could not have planned the timing of this, but God sure does know what He’s doing. We believe that it’s God’s plan for many women to be so much more for the Kingdom of Christ. You know, daily we struggle to swim upstream in a strong current of busyness, oppression, comparasinism etc. So we're burdened for women’s desires to seek and know Him. I’m burdened for the wavering of fundamental basics of the Gospel that makes us spiritually anemic in our culture. I’m burdened for the rerouting into the hamster wheel of busyness for God when it overlooks or excludes a daily discipline of reading God’s word and communing with Him in prayer. In light of laying out the mission and vision of Seeking Holy, we have discussed this at great length and agree that we desire to see every woman that tunes in, to strengthen their faith and their relationship with God; and consequently, to reap the benefits of knowing their identity in Christ and walking in it. That we no longer are enslaved to anxiety and the cares of this world - especially in these turbulent times - but conquer each day through Christ Who is our only source of strength, and IS sufficient for ALL.In this episode we discuss the vision and mission of this podcast, as we speak on the unexpected challenges along the way; and the anchored hope we have in Christ.>>>>>>>[TAKEAWAYS]

If you're like me, I'm sure you've questioned before, what is my purpose? Or what is God's plan for your life? God has a plan and purpose for every person and in today's podcast I want to share with you what that looks like and how to know Gods purpose for your life through your daily routine.1.God has called us to a feast and not a famine. 2. It's time to fasten our thoughts. Fasten to what God says not your circumstances. 3. Be faithful to all that God has called you to do. God measures faithfulness in years not days. Be faithful wherever you are! I hope this helps you determine what Gods purpose for your life is and his plan for your life.
