Sean shares how he transitioned from being a traditional historian to helping entrepreneurs navigate challenges using timeless principles. We discuss: The powerful story of Agamemnon and how it applies to goal setting and sacrifice. Why small sacrifices often become institutionalized—and how to avoid them. The importance of defining boundaries in business and life. How ancient myths and artifacts can provide insights into modern leadership dilemmas. Sean's perspective will challenge the way you think about success, sacrifice, and sustainability in both your business and personal life. Key Takeaways: Sacrifice with intention: Define what you're willing to give up before pursuing big goals. History as a mirror: Learn from ancient stories to avoid repeating mistakes. The DiSC model examines four primary personality traits—Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness—offering leaders profound insights into their strengths and areas requiring improvement. Mark elaborates on each trait, discussing their implications on leadership and team dynamics.Dominance is characterized by assertive, goal-driven individuals like Steve Jobs and Margaret Thatcher, who excel in decisive leadership roles. Influence, exemplified by figures such as Richard Branson and Tony Robbins, is centered around communication and motivation. Steadiness, personified by Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizes patience and cooperation. Lastly, Conscientiousness, seen in leaders like Bill Gates and Albert Einstein, values precision and analytical thought. The episode underscores the importance of self-awareness and adaptability in leadership, promoting the DiSC model as a valuable resource for crafting effective management strategies.Key Takeaways:The DiSC model is a powerful tool for understanding leadership styles, categorizing them into Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness.Leaders with a Dominance style are efficient decision-makers but need to incorporate empathy and active listening. Those with an Influence style thrive in inspirational roles, benefiting from structured planning to enhance effectiveness.Steadiness is crucial for maintaining harmony and requires adaptability for growth in dynamic environments.Conscientious personalities bring accuracy and focus but must balance their analytical nature with flexibility for practical application.Support the showIf you want to watch the full video of this episode go to:https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalksDo you want to be a guest on multiple podcasts as a service go to:www.podcastintroduction.comFind more details about the podcast and my coaching business on:www.businessgrowthtalks.comFind me onLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-hayw...Tik Tok - https://www.tiktok.com/@mjh169183YouTube Shorts - https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalks/shorts

For those seeking women social entrepreneurship advice, the inspiring journey of Lee Rhodes offers invaluable insights into building a mission-driven business. Today, we delve into her story as a cancer survivor and founder of Glassybaby, who transformed personal challenges into a thriving enterprise dedicated to giving back. Lee Rhodes' Journey: Turning Adversity into Opportunity Lee Rhodes was diagnosed with a rare form of bronchial carcinoma when her youngest child was just two months old. This life-altering experience became the catalyst for her entrepreneurial journey. Lee found solace in a handblown glass votive, which lit up her life and sparked the idea for Glassybaby. She started making and selling these beautiful glass votives to support others going through chemotherapy, addressing the economic and emotional inequalities she witnessed in chemo rooms. The Power of Mission-Driven Woman Business Lee's business was driven by a mission from the start. Glassybaby not only produces beautiful votives but also gives back a portion of its profits to support cancer patients. Lee emphasizes that staying true to the mission is crucial for success. Despite challenges, including being advised to move production to China, Lee maintained her commitment to local manufacturing, believing that the authenticity and soul of her products were tied to their origin. Challenges and Lessons Learned - Women Social Entrepreneurship Advice Running a mission-driven business comes with unique challenges. Lee admits her business model is complex due to its reliance on local manufacturing. However, she believes that the cumulative impact of consistent giving has been profound, fostering deep connections with recipients and partners. One significant mistake she made was attempting to outsource production, which resulted in costly and unaligned outcomes. This experience reinforced the importance of sticking to the mission and values. Advice for Women in Social Entrepreneurship 1. Embrace Your Compassion: Women naturally embody empathy and compassion. Lee advises leveraging these traits rather than suppressing them. They are powerful drivers for mission-driven businesses. 2. Take Risks: Women often second-guess themselves and avoid risks. Lee encourages women to take the leap, as the learning and growth from both success and failure are invaluable. 3. Build a Supportive Community: Lean on your community for support. Lee's friends played a crucial role in her early business days, helping with tasks and sharing in the mission. 4. Make Giving a Core Value: Incorporate giving into your business model from the start. It not only enhances your brand's purpose but also creates a fulfilling and sustainable business. Overcoming Unique Challenges Women face unique challenges in business, from balancing caregiving responsibilities to facing societal expectations. Lee highlights the importance of overcoming perfectionism and taking decisive actions. By integrating social entrepreneurship principles, women can create businesses that are not only profitable but also impactful. Women's Leadership Conclusion -  Social Entrepreneurship Advice Lee Rhodes' journey with Glassybaby illustrates the transformative power of social entrepreneurship. Her story is a testament to the impact that women can make when they combine business acumen with a deep sense of purpose. For women aspiring to venture into social entrepreneurship, Lee's advice is clear: embrace your compassion, take risks, build a supportive community, and make giving a core value. By doing so, you can create a business that not only succeeds but also contributes meaningfully to the world. A Note from James:For 20 years, I've been writing about how much I think people should not go to college, and that college is not the only solution for a career. It could be the worst solution because  tuition has risen faster than inflation every single year for the past 50 years. And why is that? Because student loans are a big scam and the government backs them, college presidents always know they're getting their money. They keep raising tuition even faster than society is raising the prices of anything else. James Keyes, former CEO of multibillion-dollar company 7-Eleven, has been CEO of many companies, including Blockbuster, and he wrote a book about the importance of education: Education is Freedom: The Future Is in Your Hands. So guess what? We decided to debate. And I'll admit I'm the sort of person who tends to agree with whoever the last person I speak to is, but he presented some very good arguments and I have to, I have to give them all credit for that. But I'll let you hear the conversation and it's well worth listening to, particularly if you've been wondering about this issue. So, here he is.  Let's talk about college.Episode Description:James and corporate leader Jim Keyes debate the relevance of a college education for career success, attributing rising tuition costs and impractical skill sets to modern colleges' downsides. The importance of degrees as a differentiator in the job market is emphasized, with the debate also covering emerging alternatives such as Google certificates. The two later shift to discuss learning and education in the context of business evolution, specifically detailing challenges faced by 7-Eleven in maintaining "freshness" and the role of technology in overcoming these. Episode Summary:00:00 The Value of College Education: A Conversation with James Keyes01:45 The Business of Convenience: The 7-Eleven Story04:52 The Evolution of Blockbuster and the Future of Streaming07:03 The Impact of Technology on Global Education08:42 The Importance of Learning and the Role of College08:50 The Debate: Is College Worth It?09:46 The Role of College in Career Advancement13:52 The Future of Education and the Global Economy21:47 The Power of Self-Investment and the Value of a Degree24:07 The Practical Reality of College Education29:16 The Entrepreneurial Path vs. College Education36:22 The Impact of Self-Doubt and the Confidence from Education37:51 The Role of Society in Learning38:18 The Importance of Discipline in Self-Learning38:45 The Social Aspect of Education39:02 The Value of Collaboration in Learning39:32 The Impact of Real-World Experience on Learning40:12 The Comparison Between Formal Education and Self-Learning41:31 The Role of Professors in Learning42:05 The Power of Self-Learning42:52 The Debate on College Degree vs Google Certificate46:11 The Importance of Broad Education49:14 The Future of Education01:02:25 The Impact of Fear on Learning01:08:23 The Future of Economy01:15:31 The Importance of Freshness in Business01:17:15 The Power of Knowledge ------------What do YOU think of the show? Chris Joyce is the founder and CEO of Gasha, a performance-based equity business. During the podcast, Chris discussed what a business mindset means to him. He believes it requires flexibility to listen to the markets while also being rigid with one's purpose and focus. Chris's end goal is to untap as much human potential as possible, which he believes will have a ripple effect on the world. He believes that businesses should always strive to make decisions only once. Chris discussed how Gasha helps to empower people to reach their full potential. Gasha provides resources for individuals to take control of their finances and career, by providing information, resources and tools to help them grow and succeed. By leveraging performance-based equity, Gasha is able to help individuals maximize their potential and achieve their goals. The speaker's attitude towards their career has shifted over time from being primarily focused on themselves to having a more far-reaching ripple effect. They grew up in what they called an Evil Brady Bunch, with a stepfather who was a rigid electrical engineer. This stepfather taught them the value of self-discipline and believing in oneself, which has been incredibly helpful for their success as an entrepreneur. Their stepfather was a colonel in the Air Force and the speaker credits him with instilling the importance of self-discipline and belief in oneself. The conversation is about the importance of developing self-belief and doing the difficult work that other people don't want to do in order to be successful as an entrepreneur. The speaker talks about his father's experience in the Air Force and how it taught him about humanity and that everyone has a little voice inside of them that they should listen to. He explains that people often have doubts and fears as well as negative input from their family and friends, but it is essential to protect and cultivate that inner voice. He cites David Goggins' phrase of do what others won't do or unable to do or don't want to do as a way to be successful, and Gary Vee's advice of not partying but rather focusing on work. He also shares his own experience of working in corporate for 14 years before starting his businesses and how it was not providing the value he was looking for.0:00:15 "Introducing the Podcast Introduction Group: A Platform for Growing Your Business and Brand"0:02:33 Interview with Chris Joyce, Founder and CEO of Gasha: Unlocking Human Potential Through Performance-Based Equity Business0:06:09 Exploring the Value of Self-Belief as an Entrepreneur: A Conversation with [Name]0:09:51 Conversation on Entrepreneurship: Advice for Taking the Leap and Utilizing ResourceSupport the showDo you want to be a guest on multiple podcasts as a service go to:www.podcastintroduction.comFind more details about the podcast and my coaching business on:www.absolutebusinessmindset.comDo you want to be a podcaster?
