My guests, for the first episode of 2024, are Wolfgang Flür and Peter Duggal Wolfgang Flür, a true legend of electronic music, needs little introduction. He was a member of Kraftwerk, one of the most influential acts of all-time, from 1973-1987. He played electronic drums on Kraftwerk's best known albums, including ‘Autobahn', ‘Trans Europe Express' and ‘The Man Machine' Peter, who has worked with a number of artists over the years, including Apache Indian and electronic musician, MAPS is a musician and producer based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Peter's first single ‘‘Psyche' released in 1990 achieved chart success in the UK Dance and Indie charts Peter and Wolfgang talk to me about the making of their album ‘Magazine 1' which came out in 2022 on Cherry Red Records. This excellent album features a number of guest musicians, including Claudia Brücken from Propaganda and legendary bassist, Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order For more information on Peter Duggal's work visit: https://www.peterduggal.com
And I said, 'Do you happen to remember, back in 1949, your mother coming into possession of a little Apache Indian baby?' And she sucked in her breath - I heard it on the phone. And she said, 'Why, why yes. Why do you ask?' I said, 'Well I'm that baby.'
Happy 30th birthday to 'The Last Splash' released on August 30th 1993! To celebrate we have dedicated our 30th episode (did you see what we did there?!) to the album which was the second release from the Dayton, Ohio, quartet, led by principal singer songwriter, and former member of The Pixies, Kim Deal. We take a look at the formation and evolution of the group from their beginnings in 1989 to the present day, including other LP releases, line-up changes, gigs, and an appraisal of 'The Last Splash', their most successful album to date. We talk about our favourite songs, and single releases from the record, and its critical reception and sales. Lead single 'Cannonball' was the catalyst for the success of the record, but what is the song about (it's fair to say it's open to some debate), and who is the Marquis De Sade, and what's his connection to the track? As ever, there's a review of the UK single and album charts from the week of release, and if the previous episode contained arguably the best chart we've covered from August 1983, then this could well be the worst! There's songs from Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, UB40 and a glut of drum-machine based releases from 2 Unlimited, Apache Indian, SWV, Urban Cookie Collective, Bitty McLean, Culture Beat, and even Freddie Mercury. The album chart was a little more palatable and we also whiz through the UK box office, news, and TV for August '93, before concluding the episode with our Top 3's. It's a good one this week as we look at our favourite acts containing siblings. There's lots to go at, but did we select any of your favourites? Let us know! Kate's Single of the week: 'Creep' by Radiohead, released 22nd September 1992 https://youtu.be/XFkzRNyygfk?si=1axqNkRaOMecogf_ Rick's single of the week: 'Venus as a boy', by Bjork, released 23rd August 1993 (happy belated 30th!!) https://youtu.be/7Z5aPaDwAkU?si=SQ2TZAzb5m8nlnJ_ We would really appreciate it if you could support our indie podcast and help us to grow our audience by subscribing to the podcast on your listening platform of choice, sharing links with your friends and family, and by taking a minute to leave us rating us on Spotify, and/or Apple Podcasts, even if it's to give us a star rating without any text. #SameBlood... Escuchar audio

Mwalim, also known as Dr. Morgan James Peters or even ‘DaPhunkee Professor,' is a professor of English and Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth and a Mashpee Wampanoag. Wampanoag was the tribe that met with Pilgrims in the story of the “first Thanksgiving,” but that's about all that traditional American history got right about that first “holiday.” Mwalim gives us the history lesson we should have had in school, starting with the ways colonizers changed tribal affiliations and leading all the way up to capitalism and commerce shaping the way we celebrate Thanksgiving. Come for the amazing storytelling, and stay to find out which celebrity his research leads him to believe is an Apache Indian. Everyone Dies In Sunderland: A podcast about growing up terrified in the eighties and nineties
Something you might not appreciate about climbing Everest is... it's a bit fiddly. Lethally fiddly. And lethally chilly. And lethally tiring. In fact that 4% of people die while doing it. And in most cases, it's impossible to recover their bodies. As a result there are as many as 300 dead bodies on the mountain, including the remains of David Sharp from Teesside. In 2006 he climbed Everest at the third attempt, but on his descent cold, fatigue and darkness forced him to take shelter in a cave – and as the story goes, 40 people walked past him as he slowly froze to death, but chose to summit instead of helping him. Obviously it's a bit more nuanced than that.Inspired by last week's chat about Apaches we also remember the public information films of our era, a time when Jimmy Savile had some personal safety advice “for all you ladies” and children valued their kites and Frisbees enough to risk being blown to smithereens to retrieve them. Not like kids today! The gang also learns the true meaning of SPLINK.Claire offers to shoot a dog for £1! Gareth is saved from third degree burns by Hale and Pace! WHAT THE HECK? Yes indeed, it's the first episode of Season 4! We've finished with the music of 1992 and are casting it off like a bootleg T-shirt that you bought outside the gig but then lost all of its backprint and one of its sleeves after just one wash. And here we are looking down the barrel of a very exciting 1993 with so many amazing bands and new genres appearing almost weekly, a brand new world. So obviously we're starting this journey off with Little Angels and their album 'Jam' which it turns out, no really, got to number one in January 1993. I know. It's a band and a genre that both of us thoroughly ignored at the time so neither of us had any clue what this was going to sound like - well I mean, that's not strictly true but you know what we mean. But along the way we do get to chat about other bands like Apache Indian, Jesus Jones and The The so that's always a treat. All of these acts, as well as the entire Little Angels album, are included on this episode's companion playlist. As usual follow us on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram and check out our website for more links to stuff. And don't forget our ever-growing Spotify playlist of at least one song from each of the albums we chat about.

E valerá a pena!

Today we have a multilingual Kannada rapper SIRI with us on Audiogyan. She is re-enforcing the beauty of being part of a country, that is home to vareity of, different dailects and tunes. SIRI's music has already earned her a significant fan following down south of India. Having impressive flow in rap with English and Kannada, she has also experimented with Hindi and Telugu. SIRI writes, directs, produces and edits her music videos. She is from Bangalore. Today we are here to try and understand anatomy of "rap" as an artform and some insights into the world of Indian Rap community. Thank you SIRI for giving your time and it's a real pleasure to have you on Audiogyan. Before we being, i wish to tell the 2 things to my listeners. This episode is on the backdrop of SIRI and Sez On The Beat’s new track "My Jam" with Artist Originals, JioSaavn’s independent label for South Asian artists. Second, excuse me for my limited knowdlege on Rap and any naive questions in the flow. My exposure to Rap has been Baba Sehgal, Apache Indian and most recetntly Gully Boy. So bare with it. Can you start by telling us about contruction of a rap song? Meter, Lyrics, tune, 4 beat, 6 or 8 beat cycle? theme, series, individual track etc...? How are these written, composed and produced? What is Proto rap? are there any other sub genre and more forms within rap? Can you share any insights about why there is so much influecne of hiphop on rap. What could be the reasons? Hiphop is about beats and rythm. Was poetry missing in the same vibe which lead to origin of Rap? How long or short, can be a rap song? What is this format linked to? For eg: Jazz was the song of the oppressed and etc... Is this form of music / poetry / lyrics seems to be impromptu? How does it qualify to be a form of literature if it's so volatile and made on-the-spot? Do you have any mukhda kind of a thing in original rap? Something which keeps repeating in intervals? What is the reason for it? If you can share some examples. For a lay man like me, "My Jam" is the maximum exposure. :) Whats the scene of Rap in South India? Any patterns / observations? With growing supression in India and rest of the world do you think Rap is on it's rising cycle?
And… We're back! While the world sits in isolation, episode 94 came knocking on our doors looking for Ray Finkle. So, we thought, let's take a look at nineteen ninety-four and more specifically, the three films of that year that launched Jim Carrey into superstardom – Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb & Dumber. Crazy hair, Hawaiian shirts, green faces, chipped teeth and the greatest tuxedos in the history of cinema… These topics and more popped up (among other things) as we dived into three of the biggest comedies of all time and a world that remembered Dan Marino. Alllllllrighty then, so if you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world, make sure you check out the Ssssssmokin' UNT 94. (And we promise, that's the last time we'll ever use those catchphrases.) Hosted by: ‘Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: ‘SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75) & 'Laces Out' Tim Agne (@timagne). Music by: Cannibal Corpse, The Tokens, Cuban Pete, Roy Orbison & Apache Indian.

Simon Duggal, with his brother Diamond Duggal, is a hugely influential producer, promoter and now record label manager. They may not be that well known to you, but they work worldwide across as many genres as they can handle. Like Ruby Turner, Steel Pulse and Apache Indian, they started out in Handsworth, Birmingham. Their own brand, Swami, is massive worldwide. On top of that, they have their very own 'Oh Brother Where are Thou' style breakout hit. That's before we get on to Shania Twain... For videos, links and extensive background information, see also the companion blog piece 'A Life In Music - Simon Duggal' on the Radio To Go blog. Lives in Music The Lives in Music series celebrates people who have spent a lifetime in music. They may be famous; they may be people who have spent their lives working in the background for the love of it. But they all have stories. The intro and outro music in this series comes from the great bass player Mike Hatton, who you can hear interviewed in series 1, here. 'Everything Changes' is included in his excellent 2019 album 'Bassic Salvation'. Subscribe! My friend is a very interesting guy. Tai is a true renaissance man. Tai (pictured right) went from being a college dropout living with the Amish and working on Joel Salatin's farm (which we talk about in this podcast episode) to becoming a self made millionaire before the age of 30, while launching 12 multi-million dollar businesses in the process. He is a member of , a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, and most importantly a student of life with a ton of books (5000 plus at the last count). In addition to his massive book collection, he is himself the author of several, and the voice of the brand new podcast "". Tai was on Bravo's "The Millionaire Matchmaker" (his episode is the highest rated yet), is addicted to traveling (51 countries on 6 continents so far), and is also a student of salsa dancing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and playing classical piano. He lives in the Hollywood Hills, where he has a cold thermogenesis pool off his front porch. Tai also has a good way of summing up books that would normally take you a long time to read. That’s wonderful for anyone who doesn’t have the time luxury to read lots of books (and you can consider his a fantastic time-hacking technique). A few weeks ago, I featured an article by Tai entitled "", and in this podcast we go way above and beyond just living long. You'll learn: -How Tai went from being a college dropout to living with the Amish... -Why the Apache Indian tribe were some of the toughest people on earth... -What farmers and ranchers know about toughness that we don't... -How aligning your body with your natural circadian rhythms can make you tough... -Tai's top techniques for getting tough... -Tai's technique for getting through as many books as possible in as short a period of time... Resources we discuss in this episode: -Book: -Book: -Book: -Book: -Book: -Book: - - Leave your questions, comments or feedback for Tai and be sure to check out his new podcast "".

Interview Art Reade # 2English episode of Claircast. Another great interview, and more about how to become a spiritual person, with Apache indian Art Reade, who since the early 80's has held seminars in Europe for thousands of people. Art Reade was born in Arizona, USA in the mountains east of Phoenix. During his pre-school years he was raised by his indian grandmother who taught him to use his intuition, respect all living things and to see the world as a connected whole. He became a school teacher and athletic coach, ultimately training Olympic-level runners at a university in California.Art is an exciting man with lots of charisma, a warm sense of humor and a big heart. I met him for the first time in Copenhagen in 1985 where I attended one of his courses, called "Clearing I". There were over 100 participants that weekend and in Germany there are often more than 200 people on a course with long waiting lists. Since then, I have attended all of Art's courses: "Clearing II", "Abundance", "Journey", "Spiritual Relationships" and the 12-hour open lecture called "Prayer Talk". Art has recently added two new lectures called "Spiritual Economy Talk" and the "Faith and Hope Talk".The interviewer this time is a friend of Art, and it is recorded 1990.In this second interview - 1 h 37 min - Art talks a lot about personal and spiritual growth. Interview Art ReadeEnglish episode of Claircast. My guest is Apache indian Art Reade, who since the early 80's has held seminars in Europe for thousands of people. Art Reade was born in Arizona, USA in the mountains east of Phoenix. During his pre-school years he was raised by his indian grandmother who taught him to use his intuition, respect all living things and to see the world as a connected whole. He became a school teacher and athletic coach, ultimately training Olympic-level runners at a university in California.Later he developed programs in personal growth, teaching various groups including prisoners and cancer patients. He taught patients to activate their own self-healing forces with very positive results. Art Reade's courses focus on reclaiming one's power and self-respect, cleaning up in one's past, setting goals for the future and applying action to those goals, the importance of taking responsibility on many levels, and more. All of his courses are based on indian and spiritual values, yet delivered in such a way that "ordinary western rational types" find appealing and understandable.Art is an exciting man with lots of charisma, a warm sense of humor and a big heart. Art has recently added two new lectures called "Spiritual Economy Talk" and the "Faith and Hope Talk".In this interview we talk about his dreams as a child, why Art originally came to Denmark, what he hopes to teach os, how we can change our lives if we feel like we have lost touch with who we are, what are some of the differences between the western and the indian way of thinking, how he manages to keep to an 80-hour work week without feeling stress, what are the secrets to his success when he never advertizes or markets his courses and much more.Art Reade grants interviews only very rarely because he believes it is better for people to come and experience the course with as few pre-conceived ideas about him or his courses as possible. I am therefore even more grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with him, "backstage" after his most recent "Clearing II" course in Copenhagen in November 2006. I hope you will enjoy this rare interview as well.Listen to the interviewet at: http://www.claircast.com/ podcast number 41Links:groups in Copenhagen, groups in Hamborg, groups in Køln, groups in BerlinCopyright: Clairvoyant Jette Harthimmer, Copenhagen
