Send a question for 'Ask Megan'Hey, Podcasters! Most podcast advice focuses on how to keep your show going. But this week on Buzzcast, we explored a different question: When is it time to start something new? We're not talking about quitting podcasting. In fact, quite the opposite. We're talking about when a podcast naturally reaches the end of its run. Sometimes it's because your interests evolve. And other times, you've learned so much from your first show that you're ready to apply those skills to a new idea. One of my favorite takeaways from the episode was that some projects end like a funeral, but others can end like a graduation! You finished what you set out to do, and now you're excited about what's next.In this episode, the Buzzcast team talks about several reasons podcasters start a second show:• They've discovered a new topic they're genuinely excited about • They've outgrown the original format • They want to experiment with a different style of podcasting • They have uncovered a new idea while creating their current showThe good news is that none of the work from your first podcast goes away! You still have the skills, the experience, the confidence behind the mic, and everything you've learned along the way.So if you've been kicking around a new podcast idea or wondering whether it's time to explore something different, I think you'll really enjoy this conversation! Listen to BuzzcastEpisode of the Week The past few weeks, you've heard me talk a lot about video podcasting. It's an exciting time to be thinking about video, but it can also be confusing to know if it's the right fit for your podcast. In this episode of Insider Secrets to a Top 100 Podcast with Courtney Elmer, Alban and Courtney discuss how to know if video is worth adding to your show and what it takes to do it well! Listen to EpisodeHave a question for Megan? https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/ins.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM728_MDM_May6_26.mp3   Success through immersion is the principle I keep coming back to — because it’s the one most people resist, and the one that explains nearly every plateau I’ve ever seen. If you’ve been working hard, studying the concepts, doing the mindset work, and still feel like you keep bouncing back to old patterns — this episode is probably why. Success Through Immersion: Why an Hour a Day Won’t Get You ThereI use language learning as the entry point here, because it’s such a clean illustration of the problem. You can study Italian for an hour a day, learn vocabulary, practice pronunciation — and still fall completely apart the moment you’re in a room where nobody speaks English. Not a failure of effort. A failure of immersion. The same dynamic plays out with success. Most people spend an hour in the new mindset and twenty-three hours back in the old environment — surrounded by the same triggers, conversations, and patterns. The mind doesn’t integrate what it only visits. It integrates what it lives in. I know this firsthand. When I left working for someone else and went all-in on my own business, I didn’t ease into it — I dove in completely. Every decision, every response, every moment had to come from a successful place, because there was no other option. That’s what made it permanent. Success Through Immersion: How to Build the Environment That Changes YouChanging your mindset isn’t about trying harder inside the same environment — it’s about changing the environment so that the new thinking becomes the default. Steph Toss is one of the clearest examples I’ve ever seen of what full immersion actually produces. Rather than just taking notes, she traveled, sold, sat in every room, and learned every part of the business — until there wasn’t a single aspect of success she hadn’t lived firsthand. That’s when transformation becomes real and permanent. The same principle applies whether you’re working on your income, your relationships, or your health. Take an honest inventory of what in your life is still wired to the old version of you — the triggers, the habits, the conversations — and stop tolerating it. Success isn’t a thing you do for an hour. It’s a language you speak all the time, until one day you realize you’re no longer translating. You’re just thinking that way. That’s when you know the immersion worked. If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of progress followed by setbacks, this episode is an honest look at why — and what a real path through it looks like. Episode 650 – Immersion is Crucial for Mastery Episode 496 – Insider Secrets for Creating Consistent Cashflow – Part I Episode 384 – Raising the Bar You are successful on paper… but why doesn't it feel like freedom? In August, I'm bringing together a group of driven entrepreneurs for a 2-day business intensive where we strip away the fear, resistance, and patterns that quietly cap your growth, and get you clear on your next breakthrough.Together, we'll uncover what's been holding you back, claim the freedom you've been chasing, and walk away with the clarity and courage to lead your business — and your life — on your terms. And because business growth isn't just about mindset, Steph Tuss is teaching a special marketing session on the latest business-building tactics that are working now. She'll also answer your most pressing marketing questions.Seats are limited. If you want in, secure yours now. Using AI to write your book is like using a car to run your marathon. Sure, you covered the distance — but nobody's impressed. Here's what I'm seeing with solopreneur automation right now: people are handing off their most important work to AI without thinking about what that signals. When you let a language model write your first draft, come up with your ideas, or do your thinking for you, you're telling your audience that a lesser version of you is good enough. And if you can't be bothered to think through the problem you solve, why should anyone hire you to solve it?The reason most of us reach for AI isn't laziness. It's that running a one-person business leaves you feeling too busy to do the creative work. So I break down how to speed up your creative process without removing yourself from it: building an idea capture system so you never start from a blank screen, using AI for editing and feedback instead of drafting, and delegating the publishing busywork to a VA or tool like Claude Cowork.I also talk about how to automate your business in a way that frees up time for the work that actually matters — the writing, the thinking, the stuff that keeps your solopreneur systems running on your ideas, not some average of an LLM's training.Want a better understanding of how you spend your time? The natural gas market is evolving faster than the pipes can keep up, creating a high-stakes environment where infrastructure is king. Jay Bhatty, founder of NatGasHub.com and author of Nat Gas Million$: Insider Secrets To Striking It Rich, joins NGI's Chris Lenton and senior editor Andrew Baker to pull back the curtain on the world of energy trading and the "unsung heroes" of gas scheduling. Bhatty breaks down how the disconnect between surging demand, driven by LNG exports and the data center boom, as well as how limited pipeline capacity is creating massive opportunities for those who control firm transport and storage. The discussion dives into the current winter outlook, encompassing how early-season volatility and potential "fireworks" in pipeline-constrained regions like the Northeast could trigger major price dislocations. Bhatty also shares strategic insights from his career on the trading floor, explaining the shift from traditional market drivers to a new era defined by high-flexibility storage and structural demand growth. As the market braces for the next major cold snap, Bhatty provides a roadmap for navigating a volatile commodity landscape where physical delivery is becoming the ultimate competitive advantage.

The Most Expensive Lie Designers Tell ThemselvesMost designers don't struggle because of their creativity. They struggle because they believe a lie:“I'm a designer. I shouldn't have to deal with the backend of my business.”In this episode of The McClain Method Podcast, John McClain sits down with Staci Davidson, founder of Everything But Design, to talk about the systems designers avoid—and why that avoidance quietly costs them time, money, and control. From bookkeeping and procurement to processes, delegation, and profitability, this conversation pulls back the curtain on what actually keeps a design business running smoothly behind the scenes. Staci explains why understanding your numbers matters even if you outsource, how systems protect your creativity instead of stifling it, and why designers who refuse to engage with the backend often stay stuck. You'll also hear practical insights on when to bring in support, what designers should still understand at a high level, and how strong backend systems improve both profit and the client experience. If you want more clarity, less stress, and a business that supports your creativity instead of draining it, this episode is for you.In this episode, we cover:The mindset that limits designers financiallyWhy avoiding the backend creates risk, not freedomThe difference between delegation and abdicationHow bookkeeping and processes impact profitabilityWhen it's time to bring in operational supportGuest: Staci Davidson is the founder of Everything But Design, a company that helps interior designers manage bookkeeping, procurement, operations, and backend systems so they can focus on their creative work.Resources: Learn more at everythingbutdesign.com Listener bonus: Use code JOHN50 for 50% off Stacy's online shopText Me a Message!Design feels natural. He emphasizes, “If you take credit out, pay it off. If you can't pay it off immediately... try to keep the utilization under 10%.” Focusing on payment history and credit utilization gives you control over the score that controls so many major financial moments. 2. Insider Secrets to Credit Optimization Anthony Davenport reveals how timing and reporting dates can cause credit scores to fluctuate—even if you pay off your cards monthly. He recommends, “Find out the reporting dates for each of your credit cards and set up your auto payment to pay it off a few days in advance before that date. That way, your credit score is going to stay optimal every month, in and out.”  3. Building Credit Without Going into Debt Cullen Canazares shares how rent (and now, utility) payments can count toward your credit score, thanks to new fintech solutions and imminent industry upgrades. For those without credit cards or thin files, this is a groundbreaking way to build creditworthiness—without taking on new debt.  4. Develop a Mindset for Long-Term Credit Health Reyna Gobel underscores the importance of confidence, knowledge, and bite-sized action. “A lot of people don't know the nutrients they're eating either,” she says, connecting personal finance to health. Starting with small, manageable steps, like pulling your credit report or disputing an error, can yield big results. Call-to-Action Here's my challenge to you this week: Pull your credit report. It's free at AnnualCreditReport.com, and reviewing it is the first step in taking control. James and his team of ad performance experts work to help creators make as much money as possible by analyzing network data, troubleshooting ad issues, and designing ad strategies for industry-leading RPMs. James lives is Fargo, North Dakota with his wife and two kids and farms on the occasional summer/fall weekend. In this episode, you'll learn how to boost your ad earnings, make sense of RPM fluctuations, and future-proof your content strategy in a shifting digital landscape. Key points discussed include: - RPM Variations: U.S.-based traffic consistently earns higher RPMs than international traffic. Understanding audience geography is key to revenue forecasting. - Smart Ad Placement: Positioning ads in high-visibility areas of your recipe posts—especially where readers linger—can lead to significant income increases. - Words That Hurt Revenue: Terms like “download,” “addicting,” and “irresistible” may trigger brand safety concerns and reduce monetization potential. - Third-Party Cookie Changes: Though the future is still unfolding, Raptive is developing tools to ensure personalized ads remain effective. - Content that Wins: Google favors clear, user-friendly content with intuitive recipe navigation. Quality and reader value matter more than ever. - Fighting AI Content Theft: Raptive is actively identifying and combating AI-driven content theft and working with platforms like Pinterest to block monetization of stolen material. - Building Real Engagement: Authenticity, reader interaction, and community building are key to standing out—and staying relevant.
