Legendary rock guitarist Steve Hackett will release his new studio album ‘The Circus And The Nightwhale' on February 16th 2024, via InsideOut Music. A rite-of-passage concept album with a young character called Travla at the centre of it, ‘The Circus And The Nightwhale's' 13 tracks have an autobiographical angle for the musician who says about his 30th solo release: “I love this album. It says the things I've been wanting to say for a very long time.”‘The Circus And The Nightwhale' is Steve's first new music in over two years. It follows the beautiful acoustic LP ‘Under A Mediterranean Sky' from January 2021 – which rose to No 2 in the UK Classical chart – and, in September of that year, his metallic masterpiece Surrender Of Silence, which hit the UK Top 40. His 2023 live album, ‘Foxtrot At Fifty + Hackett Highlights: Live in Brighton', reached No 2 in the Rock & Metal Chart. Steve's new LP promises ballads, blues, blistering progressive rock… and healthy measures of theatre and fantasia.Recorded between tours in 2022 and 2023 at Siren studio in the UK – with guest parts beamed in from Sweden, Austria, the US, Azerbaijan and Denmark, the line-up for ‘The Circus And The Nightwhale' includes some familiar faces alongside Steve on electric and acoustic guitars, 12-string, mandolin, harmonica, percussion, bass and vocals. Roger King (keyboards, programming and orchestral arrangements), Rob Townsend (sax), Jonas Reingold (bass), Nad Sylvan (vocals), Craig Blundell (drums) and Amanda Lehmann on vocals. Nick D'Virgilio and Hugo Degenhardt return as guests on the drumstool, engineer extraordinaire Benedict Fenner appears on keyboards and Malik Mansurov is back with the tar. Finally, Steve's brother John Hackett is present once more on flute.

ALBERT HAMMOND LEGENDARY SINGER… PROLIFIC SONGWRITER…MUSICIAN AND RECORD PRODUCER RELEASING NEW ALBUM ENTITLED ‘BODY OF WORK' ZOOM SPECIAL EVENT ON INTERVIEWING THE LEGENDS!   Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. Albert Hammond grew up in Gibraltar. In 1960, Albert left school, formed a band and began sending out recordings of his very first compositions to labels in England, where they were released by Parlophone Records. Soon thereafter, Albert met Mike Hazlewood and almost immediately, they teamed up as collaborators and began gaining recognition as a songwriting team: “Little Arrows” (Leapy Lee in 1968 – top 10 country and pop charts), “Make Me An Island” (a number one hit in 14 countries), “Gimme Dat Ding” (The Pipkins in 1970 – pop and R&B charts), “Freedom Come, Freedom Go” (The Fortunes in 1971), “Good Morning Freedom” (Blue Mink, 1970). “Gimme Dat Ding” was written for a children's television program called “Oliver In The Overworld” which starred Freddie and the Dreamers. Having become one of Britain's most successful songwriting teams, Albert and Mike decided to move to southern California. Albert played his songs to every record company possible, until Hal Landers and Bobby Roberts gave him the first artist's contract ever for their newly built Mums label, a division of CBS's Epic label. After auditioning for CBS president Clive Davis, and over 30 other people, Albert was asked to record some songs. Albert went into the studio to record what would become the It Never Rains In Southern California album. The title song went to number five in the U.S. and became a worldwide success. This offered Albert the opportunity to tour, which led him to almost all continents. Albert went on to record seven English-language albums for the CBS label. Hammond is also known for … "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship, "One Moment in Time" sung by Whitney Houston, "The Air That I Breathe", a hit for the Hollies, "To All the Girls I've Loved Before", a Julio Iglesias/Willie Nelson duet, and "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer. Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs, & a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism & steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Six decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work, & heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. The award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards & her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell's “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy's dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music, won "Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She's garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently, contemporary & classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Dolly Parton, Joan Baez, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. Judy began her impressive music career at 13 as a piano prodigy dazzling audiences performing Mozart's “Concerto for Two Pianos,” but the hard luck tales & rugged sensitivity of folk revival music by artists such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger seduced her away from a life as a concert pianist. Her path pointed to a lifelong love affair with the guitar & pursuit of emotional truth in lyrics. The focus and regimented practice of classical music, however, would be a source of strength to her inner core as she navigated the highs and lows of the music business.

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Gilbert O'Sullivan, Legendary Singer / Songwriter About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Gilbert O'Sullivan, is a music superstar.  He was Ireland's first international pop music star, and he became a global phenomenon in the 70s with his classic hit song, “Alone Again, Naturally”, which stayed at #1 in America for 6 weeks and earned him 3 Grammy Award nominations.   He's charted 16 top 40 records, including six No. 1 songs.  Some of my favourites are “Nothing Rhymed”, “Clair”, “Get Down”, “Out of the Question”, “Why Oh Why Oh Why”, “What's in a Kiss”, “So What”, “Tomorrow, Today”, and one of my all-time favourites, his wonderful duet with Peggy Lee, “Can't Think Straight”.   For over 5 decades he's been writing hit songs in his signature style.   He's recorded 20 studio albums and released 8 compilation albums.  And he's been performing sold-out concerts not only in his native Ireland, but throughout the UK and around the world.  Record Mirror Magazine voted him the top UK male singer of 1972, and he's received 3 Ivor Novello Awards, including "Songwriter of the Year" in 1973.  His 2 most recent albums, entitled “Gilbert O'Sullivan” and “Driven”, have been highly acclaimed by music critics, and they hit the top 20 and the top 30 in the UK charts.   Those 2 albums, along with his 3-CD compilation released last year, entitled, “Gilbert O'Sullivan: The Best Of” have ignited a global renaissance in his career, and a whole new generation of fans around the world are falling in love with his music.    He's just completed a sold out tour in Japan, AND NOW, he's returning to the United States over the Thanksgiving weekend for an exclusive 3-city concert tour.   Our guest will be at The Canyon House in Mesa, Arizona on November 22nd.  On November 24, he'll be performing at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco.  And on November 25, he'll be headlining at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood, California.    For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com/ To see more about Gilbert O'Sullivan, go to:https://www.gilbertosullivan.co.uk/https://www.facebook.com/gilbertosullhttps://www.instagram.com/gilbertosullhttps://twitter.com/GilbertOSull_ #GilbertO'Sullivan   #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Aaron Neville's first #1 hit, “Tell It Like it Is,” was released in 1966. In the mid-70s he formed the Neville Brothers with Art, Charles, and Cyril—now known as the “First Family of New Orleans”—and they released more than a dozen influential albums. Given his one-of-a-kind, soaring falsetto, Aaron was the breakout star, and over the next six decades, he had four platinum albums, three #1 songs, numerous film and television appearances, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014. His triple-platinum duets with Linda Ronstadt (including the Grammy-Award-winning hit “I Don't Know Much”) showcased the softer side of his voice, and the smoking hot funky soul of the Neville Brothers cemented his legacy as an R&B legend. But few people know the challenging and circuitous road Aaron took to fame. Born in a housing project in New Orleans of Black and Native American heritage, Aaron struggled as a teenage father working to raise a family while building his career as a musician, surviving a stint in jail for car theft and many years battling heroin addiction. Recognized by the dagger tattoo on his cheek and his St. Jude medallion earring, Neville credits St. Jude—the patron saint of lost cases—for turning his life around. He found healing and salvation in music. Aaron Neville is a man who by all accounts should not have made it. Tell It Like It Is shares his story for the first time. https://www.amazon.com/Tell-Like-Story-Aaron-Neville/dp/0306832534

His best-selling albums reflect his diversity of talents as a composer, arranger, and great singer. It is no wonder that it is said about him “Baruch has proven that Jewish Music today can still be meaningful, heartfelt, and yet refreshingly interesting.”   Baruch was raised in Toronto, Canada where he composed his first published song at the young age of 13. He has released over 10 musical albums, and most recently 2 volumes of the “Off the Record” nostalgia series which was widely received with great acclaim.   His audience spans the globe and Baruch has performed at world class venues in the UK, France, Israel, USA, Africa, and Canada. In January 2021 Baruch performed at the MetLife stadium in New Jersey where he graced a crowd of ninety thousand plus at the 13th Siyum Hashas.   He currently resides in Waterbury Connecticut along with his family and is also a Rebbe at the Yeshiva K'tana of Waterbury.   Website: https://baruchlevine.com/ YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCvmd0HODk1AifuiCMvhy57g Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/10qJQbmWuYCtjBXv5yyBLE?si=1WktWMtaRuykuogjVbBz4Q   ____________________________________ ✬ SPONSOR OF THIS EPISODE ✬ ____________________________________   ► TWILLORY: Yaakov's Favorite Clothing Brand   Get $18 OFF your first purchase of absolutely comfortable clothing for today's casual professional look.    → $18 OFF  Use promo code INSPIRE at https://Twillory.com/   Limited Time Offer. Here we are... The end of our second season as a podcast. Naturally, we're ending with a bang. Caroline and Matthew, this time out, are tackling the catalogue of (checks notes) Legendary Singer and Songwriter James William Buffett from defeated to content. Buffett is a favorite of Caroline's, but Matthew was largely unfamiliar with his work outside a few bigger hits ("Margaritaville," "Cheeseburger in Paradise," and "Why Don't We Get Drunk"). Tangents and side stories flood this episode to the point where it's our longest yet. But most important is that we've made it this far to send Matthew into fatherhood with a wonderful conversation full of laughs and soundtracked by an artist he came away with a new found respect for. Yes, Matthew's son arrived prior to the publishing of the last episode, but this was the last one recorded before the momentous occasion. Quite possibly the epitome of dad rock. Our hosts will take a bit of a break while Matthew gets his fatherhood feet wet and finds his bearings, but they'll be back for another season as soon as possible. Follow the show on Twitter @trivialmerit for updates. Meanwhile, here are the final 2 playlists for season 2: Caroline's playlist is here. Matthew's playlist is here. We'll see you in season 3. It's a boy and the entire family is now home, well, adjusting and recovering. The next episode should come on schedule, but then a delay will follow as Matthew adjusts to fatherhood.
