Bible Reading: Psalm 31:1-5"Hurry! Pull up the drawbridge, Winston!" Mitchell hurried into the cardboard castle in their basement. "The enemy is coming!"Winston pulled up the bridge, and both boys peered through narrow slits in the walls. "Now they won't be able to cross the moat," said Winston. "And even if they do, our strong walls will keep us safe."Just then Dad came down the stairs, followed by the boys' sister, Charis. "I think it's time for a break," he said, holding out a bowl of popcorn. They all sat in the courtyard of the castle, eating popcorn and admiring the corner towers made by big refrigerator boxes. The towers were connected by cardboard walls."This castle is a lot of fun, Dad," said Mitchell. "Thanks for helping us build it." "This doesn't seem much like a castle to me," said Charis. "I thought castles were big, beautiful palaces with lots of fancy rooms.""This castle is really a fortress, not a palace," Dad said. "Fortresses were used years and years ago to protect people from their enemies." He took a handful of popcorn from the bowl. "Did you know that God is described as a fortress?" "He is?" asked Winston. "How can He be a fortress?""Well," said Dad, "remember that school shooting we heard about on the news this morning?" Charis nodded. "It scared me.""Me too," said Winston. "What if that happened at our school?""We live in a sinful world, and bad things happen all around us," said Dad. "But we can find peace by running to our fortress--Jesus, who sacrificed His life to save us from sin and death. We can draw close to Him and trust Him to take care of us." "But we could still get hit by an enemy arrow, even inside our castle," said Mitchell."That's right," said Dad. "And sometimes even Christians get hurt. But when we take refuge in the Lord, we can have peace knowing we're safe with Him. We can be sure that even if an arrow--some bad thing--strikes us, He will be with us. Even death itself cannot separate us from Jesus, because He conquered death when He rose again. No matter what happens, we can have peace knowing we've been given eternal life in Him." –Jody Hedlund How About You?Have you ever been scared by something you heard in the news? We live in a sinful world where lots of bad things happen, but if you're a Christian, you have a strong fortress where you can run for protection--Jesus! He promises to be with you and give you peace--even if bad things do happen. Tell Him your worries and fears and trust Him to be with you. Today's Key Verse:The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust. (NKJV) (Psalm 18:2)Today's Key Thought:God gives peace

Episode 151 – Styx & Kansas Part 4, 1977 – The Grand Illusion and Point of Know Return The year of 1977 is a huge one in the Styx / Kansas timeline. Point of Know Return is the album that sent Kansas into the stratosphere. With the title track and the timeless Dust In the Wind, Point of Know Return is truly a classic album that you should listen to before you die. The Grand Illusion shows Styx as a band finally showing some of the focus that will define them for the next several years. Another great title track opens the record. Come Sail Away showcases Dennis DeYoung while Fooling Yourself is a Tommy Shaw gem. Songs like Castle Walls have enough hobbit shit to establish Styx's prog cred. This is a great year! A variety of ghosts are to be found in the houses, castle, inns, moors, lochs and ruins of Haunted Scotland. Scotland has always been a divided nation and its history is spattered with the blood of countless conflicts. Vestiges of Scotland's stormy past are to be found all over the country and nowhere is it more apparent than in the haunted, ruined castles of Scotland. These ruined fortresses - silent reminders of old and bitter conflicts - stud the Scottish landscape. From the gentle farmlands of the Central Lowlands to wild Empty lands of Europe's last great wilderness in the country's Northwest, Scotland's abandoned castles stand as sullen witnesses to centuries of conflict and bloodshed, and the ghosts that wander their timeworn corridors and historic rooms are perpetual reminders of a violent and stormy past. Behind the sombre walls of these impressive bastions, Kings and Queens, Lairds and Ladies, Highlanders and Lowlanders, the famous and the long forgotten, continue to inhabit an ethereal domain where old feuds and differences have never died, and where dastardly deeds and ancient discords occasionally cross the centuries to baffle and astonish those who happen to stumble upon their ghostly re-enactments. In today's episode we explore some of this stormy past and the ghost lore that survives it.... Thank you for listening. WARNING: We allegedly truthfully read a real Japanese cursed poem during todays episode. The paranormal comedy podcast where we probe sweet little Tomino as they allegedly truthfully journey in to hell. But why? Or is this all some kind of twisted metaphor? Before that, Kev gives Granville the choice that Kev, never, had, because yes indeed folks, it is Moonwalkers birthday 2022. Will Moonwalker decide to be brave and read the Japanese curse out aloud, or will Moonwalker choose to take a shot instead? Is there even a choice at all? In this episode we cover what Mr Moonwalker would choose to say to the world of the living, if he were in the world of the deceased. We then move on to discover what would happen once this old Japanese cursed poem, originally written down on paper, was translated and released on to the internet. This one does leave us with some questions. For example, who even was Tomino? How severe is the curse? Does Kev want Moonwalker dead? All that and more on this week's file. For those interested, Granville's rules for this episode were as follows: If G didn't read the curse when given the choice, G had to do a shot If G was overconfident and did read the curse, G had to do shots for being overconfident (the choice segments would become shot segments) and the first shot was Tequila. After the tequila (if G was overconfident), G had to do 2 shots at every segment Either way, G was doing shots but his destiny was in his own hands That may be confusing so to summarise, G had to do a shot for being cautious or two shots for being too brave. Scott talks to 5-time Grammy nominee Skylar Grey about her incredible career that branches from solo artist to one of the world’s most prominent songwriters. They start with her upbringing in Wisconsin, where she was in her first folk band with her mother at age 6. She moved to LA at 17, got her first record deal, then lost it all. After going broke and moving to Oregon to work at a gallery part-time, Skylar wrote the song “Love The Way You Lie” – later released by Eminem and Rihanna. Skylar breaks out the piano and performs the chorus, giving listeners goosebumps. Scott and Skylar discuss how this one song changed her life and allowed her to create more hits for major artists, including “Walk on Water” for Eminem and Beyoncé, “Coming Home” for Diddy-Dirty Money, and “Castle Walls” for T.I. and Christina Aguilera. Skylar also shares about how writing a song for Celine Dion was a dream-come-true. Shifting into the present, Skylar is writing new music for herself while living in Napa. The conversation wraps up with a chat on Skylar’s creative process, new tracks and projects, and goals for the future. Skyler concludes the show with an inspiring live performance of the chorus of “Coming Home.”
Dave and Andy discuss Castles and IoT walled gardens.
Episode 3 discusses Chrétien de Troyes' iconic romance, "The Knight of the Cart". As the first story we have in record of Sir Lancelot, we'll discuss Arthurian legend's most famous knight, his immeasurable love for Guinevere and the many trials he faces for her. Join me for a wild tale of heated battles, lusty maidens, virtuous honor, utmost courage...and small promises that go a long way. Southerners did not support Jeffersonianism as a matter of principle, but as a strategy that would ensure the survival of slavery and institutionalized racism. This support of Jeffersonian liberalism was ill-founded and tainted the philosophical tradition for many years after. What is the relationship between libertarians and the southerners who were proponents of limited government? How did slavery make the phrase “states’ rights” dirty? How did southerners use the Jeffersonian philosophy to their advantage? Why did southerners fear the health of the republic without slavery? Did southerners actually support a small and limited government or was that just a facade?Further Reading:Ericson, David. Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania keyboardist and singer Robert Richardson has been through a lot in his life, not all of it positive. But he's taken a difficult past and turned it into a productive present with his band Cell15. Following on from the success of their 2014 debut Chapter One, they've just released their sophomore effort River Utopia, and you'll hear his interview with host Mark Ashby about the spread-out nature of the band, why sharing his story in recovery is so important, and whether or not he might have an epic-length track in him someday. The Prog Squad archives are mined for an episode from 3 July 2015 just after the passing of Yes' Chris Squire, but wherein the usual panelists and guest Geoffrey Langley of the Twenty Committee talk Primus, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and rare tracks they'd love to hear live. And appropriately enough, the Triple Track Special's theme this time is "utopia," with additional tracks in that vein from Factory of Dreams and Hawkwind. Find Cell15 online at www.cell15.com. Featured songs/excerpts: "Castle Walls" (Cell15) "Criminal" (Cell15) "River Utopia" (Cell15) "Street Lights" (Cell15) "Voyage to Utopia" (Factory of Dreams) "Soon" (Yes) "DMV" (Primus) "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" (Pink Floyd) "How Wonderful" (The Twenty Committee) "Arrival in Utopia" (Hawkwind) "Like" Progtopia on Facebook (www.facebook.com/Progtopia and www.facebook.com/groups/1380357308874546/) and follow Progtopia on Twitter (@Progtopia) to send a message about the show and to receive news about current and upcoming interviews.
