SalamFest je najveći kulturni događaj za muslimane Viktorije, koji godišnje okuplja različite etničke grupe i kulture, koje se australijskoj publici žele predstaviti na najljepši način svojom muzikom, plesom, pjevanjem i učenjem ilahija, kuhinjom, slikanjem, i mnogim različitim vještinama. Ove godine SalamFest obilježio je svoj peti rođendan u subotu, 5. aprila, na Federation Squeru u srcu Melbournea. Nastao tokom Covida kao reakcija na islamofobiju i u želji da pokaže islamske vrijednosti poštovanja drugog i toleranciju, prerastao je u veliki kulturni događaj koji okuplja i do 70 različitih kultura. Bosanskohercegovačka zajednica je redovni gost SalamFesta, a ove godine KUD Dukat je bio zvijezda cjelokupnog programa.

Evropa je izbruh pandemije covida 19 pred petimi leti pričakala povsem nepripravljena. Še preden je bilo več znanega o novem koronavirusu, ki povzroča akutno respiratorno stisko, se je ta kot blisk razširil po vseh celinah sveta. Svetovna zdravstvena organizacija je 11. marca 2020 razglasila pandemijo. Sledila so zapiranja javnega življenja in gospodarstev, meja in prometa ter uvajanje karantene in policijske ure po vsem svetu, zdravstveni sistemi so klecali pod težo števila okuženih. Kako je pandemija spremenila Evropsko unijo in kaj se je ta iz nje naučila? Pripravili so jo rimska dopisnica Mojca Širok, bruseljski dopisnik Igor Jurič ter Sandra Krišelj.

Študije so pokazale, da se, ko se z novim koronavirusom okužimo drugič, tretjič ... da se torej z vsako naslednjo okužbo tveganje za simptomatski dolgi covid poveča za dodatnih 15 odstotkov Dr. Špela Šalamon aktivno sodeluje z neodvisno skupnostjo strokovnjakov in aktivistov World Health Network, ki si prizadeva za zaščito zdravja in zmanjšanje škode zaradi pandemije covida. V enem od zadnjih člankov se je skupina lotila vprašanja, kako med akutnim in dolgim covidom pride do poškodbe stene najmanjših žil v organih in tkivih. Dr. Šalamon namreč pravi, da covid v prvi vrsti ni okužba dihal. »Pri covidu je glavno mesto okužbe ožilje. Pa se ne bomo smilili sami sebi - ker nam ne prinese nič dobrega. Zala Hudoklin je študentka 5. letnika psihologije in članica Društva študentov psihologije. Zaradi razvojnih značilnosti spadajo mladostniki med ranljivejše skupine za razvoj težav v duševnem zdravju. Nove stiske je prinesla pandemija Covida-19, velike izzive mu prinaša tudi vse večja raba in priljubljenost novih tehnologij. V tem predprazničnem času, ko nas terorizirajo pričakovanja oz. že kar zahteve po veselju, obilju, praznovanju in prijetnih uricah z drugimi, so stiske osamljenih in ranljivih ljudi pogosto še občutnejše. Tudi pri mladostnikih. In ker je samomor eden najpogostejših vzrokov smrti v obdobju mladostništva, v tem, za marsikoga najtežjem delu leta, na te stiske še posebej opozarjamo.

2023.05.15 – 0865 – Coping With Covid Coping with long covidA small percentage of people who have had Covid-19 continue to have symptoms after 12 weeks, but because of the huge number of people who have had the disease, that's a large actual number of people. This is known by health professionals in the UK and many other countries as ‘post covid syndrome' or (by the WHO) ‘post covid condition' (although some doctors still doubt the existence of this altogether).There is no specific treatment to what can be a cocktail of complaints (including but not limited to fatigue; shortness of breath; palpitations; stomach issues; brain fog; mental health; headaches and dizziness), which affects each person differently.For our purposes, shortness of breath is perhaps the most important symptom: ‘disordered breathing', using the upper chest, shoulders and neck. Do not self-diagnose, as it may be caused by something other than covid, but go and see a health professional. Before the appointment, you could try some very gentle breathing exercises to train yourself how to breath properly again. V obdobju pandemije Covida 19 je nemalo ljudi prvič v življenju slišalo za zadevni test PCR, kar ne pomeni nič drugega kot test z metodo »verižne reakcije s polimerazo«. Kot je znano, ne gre za t.im. »hitri test«, ki naj bi dokazoval bolezen Covid 19 oziroma virus SARS CoV-2, temveč gre za drugačno metodo, do katere so prišli mnogo pred izbruhom te bolezni. Švedska je z začetkom leta že tretjič prevzela predsedovanje Svetu EU. V težkih časih za staro celino, ki se še vedno sooča z gospodarskimi posledicami pandemije Covida-19, predvsem pa s posledicami ruskega napada na Ukrajino, si je nordijska država zastavila predvsem štiri prednostne naloge: varnost in enotnost, kratkoročna in dolgoročna konkurenčnost gospodarstva, zeleni in energetski prehod ter demokratične vrednote in vladavina prava. Med obiskom skupine bruseljskih dopisnikov na Švedskem, se je naš dopisnik Igor Jurič pogovarjal z več sogovorniki o izzivih, ki so pred predsedujočo državo. Tako o zavlačevanju Turčije pri ratifikaciji pristopnega protokola Švedske in Finske k zvezi NATO, kot tudi o prizadevanjih Švedske, da pripomore k večji konkurenčnosti evropskega gospodarstva in strateški avtonomiji. Veliko vlogo bosta pri tem igrala največji rudnik železove rude v Uniji, saj so v Kiruni odkrili ogromne zaloge strateško pomembnih redkih zemelj in mineralov ter 45 kilometrov oddaljeni vesoljski center Esrange, kjer so v začetku januarja odprli prvo izstrelišče za orbitalne rakete na evropski celini.

Gotovo 1000 Australaca umrlo je nakon zaraze virusom gripe tijekom rekordno opasne sezone gripe 2019. Nakon toga broj godišnjih slučajeva gripe drastično je opao, kako je cijela zemlja prolazila periode potpunog zatvaranja u borbi protiv COVIDa-19. No, stručnjaci kažu da je samo pitanje vremena kada će broj oboljelih od gripe ponovno početi rasti.
