O protesto de um agricultor do Reino Unido chamou atenção na última semana. Com um trator, o produtor rural escreveu em sua própria lavoura a mensagem “sem agricultores, sem futuro, sem comida”. A manifestação ocorre após o governo britânico criar um imposto sobre herança, que deve entrar em vigor em 2026. O governo britânico tem sido alvo de diversos protestos nos últimos meses. Alguns deles, inclusive, ocorreram em Londres, importante ponto turístico no país, onde o agro realizou um tratoraço e bloqueou importantes vias da região. Esse movimento não é exclusivo, aqui no Brasil, o governo Maranhão criou recentemente uma taxa sobre exportações do agro. A semana foi marcada por protestos de agricultores na Alemanha. Produtores rurais de diversas regiões do país bloquearam rodovias durante dias em manifestação contra um projeto do governo para cortar os subsídios ao diesel utilizado nas operações agrícolas.Para o coordenador do observatório do laboratório de bioeconomia da Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Daniel Vargas, há uma mudança na condução do ministério da Agricultura do país, que começa a abarcar uma agenda mais alinhada com os interesses de eleitores de classe média e alta de partidos verdes. Daniel explica o que é a Bioeconomia, a partir das suas diferentes vertentes, incluindo a bioecológica, que continua insistindo em um tradeoff entre crescimento econômico e sustentabilidade, embora procure ressignificar a questão, mostrando como as externalidades negativas e os grandes custos ocultos da deterioração do meio ambiente são nefastos não apenas do ponto de vista ambiental e social, mas também econômico. Ao abordar as demais vertentes, o professor mostra como elas buscam superar o mencionado tradeoff, mostrando como o crescimento e o desenvolvimento na atualidade dependem da sustentabilidade.  A partir da integração entre direito, biologia, tecnologia e diversas outras áreas, Daniel nos apresenta as principais preocupações e pautas da Bioeconomia, inclusive oferecendo uma bibliografia básica para os interessados em aprofundar seus conhecimentos no assunto. Dentre as partes mais importantes da conversa, estão os principais desafios e potenciais do Brasil, incluindo a Amazonia, a importância da cooperação entre o Estado e o mercado para a inovação em negócios sustentáveis e a própria ideia de democracia ambiental. Daniel também faz uma interessante análise sobre o papel do Agronegócio no Brasil, mostrando como várias das métricas internacionais não são adequadas para a nossa realidade.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Gable Price and Friends over Zoom video!“Ever since I was young, I lived with an overarching fear that the thing I was presently enjoying would lose its desired effect and fade away,” remembers songwriter and frontman of the exuberant rock outfit Gable Price and Friends, Gable Price. “When our band started and began to gain momentum, it wasn't long before I slipped into the thought of ‘What happens when this loses its steam?'” Eventually, Price came to grips with those obsessive thoughts and like any songwriter worth their weight, set it to music as the opening track, “Upside”, off the band's new album The Consequence Of Being Alive—out now via Capitol CMG. With the release of The Consequence Of Being Alive, the band is redefining who Gable Price and Friends is. With a more indie-rock sound and songs that are less spiritual and more personal to Price's life, The Consequence Of Being Alive is a lesson in forging a new path. It doesn't hurt that there are some killer album credits, too. Gable's friend and mentor Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) is a featured artist on track #8 "How It Sets You Free," which they co-wrote together with Tim Foreman. Other noteworthy writing credits include Judah Akers (Judah & the Lion) on "I Don't Wanna Live Like This" and Caleb Chapman (Colony House) on "Tough Love."Gable Price and Friends know how to deliver songs that reverberate in our hearts and souls; Price's vocal phrasing matches the emotional tenor of every song perfectly, getting inside the lyrics, dwelling in them, and then singing them with the passion of one who's lived with the joy and pain they express. The songs on The Consequence Of Being Alive showcase the band's lyrical and musical genius, providing a soundtrack to the emotional highs and lows of our everyday lives. The co-author (with G.Z. Rodriguez) of three Christian "non-Hallmarky," "non-campy" Christian urban-fantasy-genre novels D.J. Vargas joins TRP for Episode 90 on YouTube. Father of two special needs children, a gun owner, a Caribbean-heritage black Hispanic whose mother tongue is Spanish but who talks with with a Jersey accent, Vargas is a versatile conversationalist, covering everything from how to raise children with Downs Syndrome and make sure they hear the Gospel, to contemporary Anglo-Analytic philosophical issues in epistemology, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind, to socialism in his birth country of the once-prosperous Venezuela. Just to add to that, he makes a living with computers program stuff. "I make computers do things," he says. That's his definition of a real computer programmer. Vargas and his childhood friend and co-author created a protagonist who is a Latina from the Bronx (not AOC). The book series features a fictional reflection, if you will, on the use of martial might and power from a Christian perspective. (Recall, in real life, he is a gun owner, a CZ pistol--we've been shooting together). The setting is like ours but with some fantastical elements.
