Aunque seguro que ya lo sabes, la próxima semana se cumplirán 10 años de la publicación del primer episodio de Se Habla Español. Aquel experimento inicial se ha convertido en el proyecto personal que más satisfacciones me ha dado hasta la fecha. Y quiero subrayar las palabras “proyecto personal”, porque después de todo este tiempo sigo siendo la única persona que trabaja cada semana en los episodios del podcast. Así empezó, y me gustaría que siguiera siendo así también en el futuro, sobre todo si no me falta el apoyo de personas como tú. Muchas gracias una vez más por estar al otro lado. Hoy vamos a hablar de un tema muy interesante y cercano para muchas familias: los menús escolares. O sea, ¿qué es lo que comen los niños en el colegio? ¿Quién decide el menú? ¿Son saludables esas comidas? ¿Y qué diferencias de precio hay entre los menús de las distintas comunidades autónomas españolas? Todo esto lo analizaremos durante los próximos minutos con la ayuda de una noticia de Radio Nacional de España. Pero antes de escuchar esa información, déjame ofrecerte algunos datos importantes. Para empezar, debes saber que en España el precio de un menú escolar varía según la comunidad autónoma. Por ejemplo, en Cataluña, el coste diario de un menú escolar es de 7,25 euros. Esa es la cantidad de dinero que debe pagar una familia para que su hijo coma en el colegio cada día. En Aragón, sin embargo, el precio medio es de 4,37 euros, mientras que en Asturias se ha establecido un precio de 4,5 euros diarios. Por lo que respecta a Madrid, el coste medio de un menú escolar es de aproximadamente 5,5 euros diarios. Cuando mis hijos eran pequeños y estaban en el colegio, creo recordar que pagábamos más o menos esa cantidad, quizá un poco menos, porque los precios habrán subido. Para ponerlo en perspectiva o para que veas una comparación, el menú del día en los restaurantes españoles tiene un precio medio de 14 euros o algo así. En unos se paga un poco menos, y en otros un poco más. Pero el precio medio suele ser ese, unos 14 euros, aunque también depende mucho de la ciudad en la que estés. Y, por supuesto, en zonas rurales suele ser más barato. Pero lo que más me llama la atención es que en el Congreso de los Diputados, los parlamentarios españoles disfrutan de un menú del día por solo 6,45 euros. Este precio es incluso inferior al de un menú escolar en algunas comunidades autónomas y, por supuesto, al de un menú en restaurantes de la calle. Y digo que me llama la atención porque los diputados españoles cobran un salario medio de unos 60.000 euros al año, mientras que el salario medio en España es de 22.000. Así que, un diputado gana tres veces más que un trabajador normal, pero puede comer por la mitad de precio cada día, e incluso más barato que algunos niños en el colegio. No parece muy justo, ¿verdad? Bueno, pues quería darte estos detalles antes de escuchar la noticia, porque me parecían muy interesantes. No sé si en tu país sucede algo similar, pero no es muy normal que los políticos tengan esos privilegios. En fin, vamos a escuchar ya la noticia. Hablan el presentador, la periodista y el ministro de consumo. Presta mucha atención. “Una de las preocupaciones de muchos padres que nos escuchan cuando sus hijos se quedan en el comedor del colegio es si comerán y qué comerán. Bien, pues hoy el Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado que en los comedores escolares sólo se pueda servir comida precocinada una vez al mes. El objetivo es lograr que el alumnado consuma alimentos sanos para prevenir el sobrepeso y las enfermedades, que aprendan a comer, y también que los estudiantes de familias con rentas bajas accedan a alimentos de calidad. Ainhoa Caballero, buenas tardes. Con el Real Decreto se acabaron en los colegios las bebidas azucaradas, las energéticas y la bollería industrial. No se podrán ofertar ni en el comedor, ni en las máquinas, ni en la cafetería. Los precocinados, como pizzas o frituras, por ejemplo, sólo se podrán servir una vez al mes como máximo. El 5% del gasto se tendrá que destinar a comida ecológica, habrá menús veganos, y al menos el 45% de los alimentos tendrán que ser de temporada para intentar reforzar la producción local. Nuestros agricultores, nuestros pescadores y nuestros ganaderos, quienes provean productos de calidad para la alimentación de los niños y niñas del país en los comedores escolares. En definitiva, se trata de apostar por un modelo más justo, que cuide no sólo los derechos de la infancia, sino también el medio ambiente. El Real Decreto obliga a todos los centros a aplicarlo, públicos, concertados y privados, pero tienen un año de margen para adaptarse.” ¿Qué tal? A mí me ha gustado mucho esta noticia porque nos va a permitir hablar de cosas nuevas, y eso siempre es interesante para avanzar en el conocimiento del vocabulario español. Así que, si te parece bien, empezamos con las palabras y expresiones que he seleccionado hoy. La primera es comida precocinada. La comida precocinada es la comida que ya ha sido preparada o cocinada parcial o totalmente, y que solo necesita calentarse antes de comerla. Hoy en día se pueden encontrar una gran variedad de comidas precocinadas en el supermercado, como pizzas, pasta, carne en salsa, arroces y muchas otras cosas más. Vamos con un par de frases como ejemplo. Hoy comí lasaña precocinada porque no tenía tiempo para cocinar. No es bueno abusar de la comida precocinada, ya que suele tener mucha sal. Pasamos ahora al verbo prevenir, que significa evitar que algo malo suceda antes de que ocurra. Hay un dicho español que siempre repetimos: más vale prevenir que curar. O sea, es mejor evitar las cosas que puedan hacerte daño, que puedan ser malas para ti. Ejemplos: Comer sano y hacer ejercicio puede ayudar a prevenir enfermedades del corazón. Lavarse las manos con frecuencia ayuda a prevenir infecciones. Perfecto. Cuando en la noticia dicen rentas bajas se refieren a personas o familias que tienen pocos ingresos o poco dinero. Eso son rentas bajas. El gobierno quiere que los niños de familias con rentas bajas también tengan acceso a alimentos de calidad. Las familias con rentas bajas pueden pedir ayudas para el comedor escolar. Lo siguiente creo que ya apareció en otro episodio, pero te recuerdo que un Real Decreto es una norma o una ley aprobada directamente por el gobierno, sin necesidad de pasar primero por el Parlamento. El Real Decreto dice que los colegios deben ofrecer comida más saludable. El Real Decreto establece nuevas normas para mejorar la alimentación escolar. En cuanto a la bollería industrial, se trata de productos dulces como croissants, donuts o magdalenas, fabricados en grandes cantidades, no en panaderías artesanales. Es mejor no comer bollería industrial todos los días porque tiene mucho azúcar y grasa. Los pasteles hechos en casa son más sanos que la bollería industrial. Otra de las cosas que debemos evitar son las frituras, o sea, comidas que se cocinan friéndolas en aceite, como patatas fritas, croquetas, pescados o carnes rebozadas en harina. A todo eso le llamamos frituras. Y la verdad es que están muy ricas, pero no son muy buenas para nuestra salud. Se pueden comer, pero de vez en cuando, no todos los días. Ejemplos: Las frituras son sabrosas, pero deben comerse con moderación. En el menú de hoy había pescado al horno en vez de frituras. Por contra, lo que sí debemos comer todos los días son los alimentos de temporada, que son frutas, verduras y otros productos que se recogen en su época natural del año, cuando están más frescos y sabrosos. Por ejemplo. Las fresas son un alimento de temporada en primavera. En otoño, las calabazas son alimentos de temporada. Ahora tenemos un verbo, proveer, que significa dar, proporcionar o suministrar algo que se necesita. En este caso, vamos a ver tres ejemplos. Los agricultores locales proveen frutas y verduras frescas para los comedores escolares. Una empresa local va a proveer los productos ecológicos para los colegios. Los pescadores de la zona proveen pescado fresco a los comedores escolares. Creo que se entiende bien. Y a continuación te voy a explicar algo que no sé si existirá en tu país. Me refiero a los colegios concertados, que son un tipo de escuela privada, pero que reciben dinero del gobierno. Suele ser más barata que una escuela totalmente privada. Mis hijos van a un colegio concertado porque no había plazas en el público y el privado es muy caro. El colegio concertado al que van mis sobrinas tiene uniforme obligatorio. Esto suelen ser verdad, hay muchos colegios concertados en los que es obligatorio que los niños lleven uniforme, o sea, que todos vayan vestidos de la misma forma. Por último tenemos la palabra margen, que en este contexto significa tiempo extra o plazo para hacer algo. Te pongo otros ejemplos. Tenemos un margen de una semana para entregar el proyecto. Los colegios tendrán un margen de un año para aplicar las nuevas reglas. Bien, pues ya estamos preparados para escuchar la noticia por segunda vez. Al menos, esa es mi intención para ofrecerte sinónimos, que siempre son muy útiles cuando se aprende una lengua. En primer lugar, el presentador del informativo de radio nos dice que una de las inquietudes más comunes entre muchos padres y madres es qué tipo de comida recibirán sus hijos cuando almuerzan en el comedor escolar, y si realmente se alimentarán bien. Y añade que el Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado una nueva normativa que establece que en los comedores escolares solo se podrá ofrecer comida precocinada una vez al mes. El propósito de esta medida es promover una alimentación saludable entre el alumnado, prevenir problemas como el sobrepeso o ciertas enfermedades, enseñar buenos hábitos alimenticios desde pequeños, y garantizar que los niños y niñas de familias con menos recursos económicos puedan acceder a comida nutritiva y de buena calidad. Justo después da paso a un periodista para ampliar los datos de la información. Y ella nos cuenta que, gracias a este Real Decreto, queda prohibida la venta y el consumo dentro de los centros educativos de bebidas azucaradas, bebidas energéticas y productos de bollería industrial. Estos productos no podrán estar disponibles ni en el comedor, ni en las máquinas expendedoras, ni en las cafeterías de los colegios. Los platos precocinados, como pueden ser las pizzas, los empanados o los fritos, solo se permitirán una vez al mes como máximo. Además, al menos el 5% del presupuesto destinado a alimentación deberá emplearse en productos ecológicos. También se incluirán menús veganos y, como mínimo, el 45% de los alimentos que se sirvan deberán ser de temporada, es decir, cultivados o producidos en la estación del año correspondiente. El ministro de Consumo explica que la intención es fomentar la agricultura local y apoyar a quienes trabajan en el campo, en el mar o en la ganadería: los agricultores, pescadores y ganaderos, que serán los encargados de abastecer a los comedores escolares con productos frescos y de calidad. También dice que se trata de impulsar un sistema más equitativo, que no solo defienda los derechos de los niños y niñas, sino que también contribuya a proteger el entorno natural. Por último, vuelve a tomar la palabra la periodista para recordarnos que este Real Decreto será de aplicación obligatoria en todos los colegios, aunque disponen de un plazo de un año para poner en marcha todos estos cambios. Bien, esta vez he tenido que repetir algunas palabras, pero al mismo tiempo te he ofrecido otras alternativas. Espero que te haya gustado. Pero antes de terminar, vamos a repasar juntos unos consejos útiles sobre algunas comidas que es mejor evitar o comer solo de forma ocasional. Por ejemplo, las pizzas industriales, porque las que se venden congeladas suelen tener mucha grasa, sal y aditivos. No son iguales que una pizza casera o de restaurante. Por lo tanto, si te gusta la pizza, puedes hacerla en casa con masa integral, verduras y queso bajo en grasa. En cuanto a los productos empanados, como los nuggets de pollo, tienen mucha harina, grasa y a veces muy poca carne real. A menudo se fríen antes de congelarse, y eso los hace menos saludables. Una forma de evitarlos sería preparar nuestros propios empanados en casa al horno, usando ingredientes frescos. Otra cosa que consumimos mucho son los postres industriales, como flanes, natillas, y pasteles envasados que suelen llevar grandes cantidades de azúcar, grasas saturadas y conservantes. Como alternativa podemos tomar fruta fresca o yogur natural con un poco de miel. Por último, también se venden muchas comidas listas para microondas. Son platos preparados que contienen pocos nutrientes y muchas calorías vacías. Lo que suelo hacer es leer siempre la etiqueta y buscar productos con ingredientes que te resulten familiares. No se trata de prohibir completamente las comidas precocinadas, sino de hacer un consumo responsable y cuidar nuestra salud en la medida de lo posible. Pero siempre nos podemos permitir algún capricho. María Santos repasa todas las noticias del sector. 1.- La Asociación Española de la Industria de Panadería, Bollería y Pastelería (Asemac) ha nombrado a Isabel Martínez como nueva presidenta de la patronal durante la celebración de la asamblea general que se ha celebrado en Madrid. Durante la asamblea se ha puesto en valor la aplicación del IVA superreducido a todas las categorías de pan, tras la "histórica resolución" de la Dirección General de Tributos del Ministerio de Hacienda sobre el tipo del Impuesto sobre el Valor Añadido (IVA) aplicable al pan, y la importancia que ello puede suponer a la hora de reactivar el consumo del pan en España. 2.- La campaña de riego de 2025 en Extremadura se presenta con un "escenario favorable" gracias a las lluvias acumuladas durante los últimos meses, según han coincidido en destacar representantes de diversas comunidades de regantes integradas en la Asociación de Comunidades de Regantes de Extremadura (Regantex). En concreto, el presidente de Regantex, Francisco Sánchez, ha destacado que la previsión es que se desarrolle una campaña "con total normalidad" gracias a las importantes aportaciones de agua de los meses previos. No obstante, Sánchez ha señalado que "eso no significa que debamos relajarnos", ya que "cuanto más eficientes seamos, más agua tendremos para el futuro", ha subrayado, tras lo que ha hecho hincapié en la necesidad de hacer un uso eficiente del agua y en la modernización de las infraestructuras como claves estratégicas. 3.- La facturación del mercado de aditivos y complementos alimentarios para la industria alimentaria se incrementó un 4,1% en 2024, hasta situarse en los 770 millones de euros, según los datos del Observatorio Sectorial DBK. Tras el fuerte aumento del valor del mercado en 2022 (+31%) y la caída del 10,3% en 2023, motivadas por la volatilidad en los precios de algunos productos, el pasado año las ventas se situaron en 770 millones de euros (+4,1%). El informe destaca la actividad exportadora para las empresas líderes, de manera que, de la facturación total agregada de las 18 de las principales empresas especializadas en el sector, el 54% correspondió a ventas en el exterior en 2023. 4.- La caza genera anualmente en España un total de 10.190 millones de euros de Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) y 45.642 empleos directos, el 80% de ellos en el mundo rural, generados por titulares de cotos y organizadores de cacerías, según se desprende del 'Estudio del impacto económico, social y ambiental de la actividad cinegética de España' realizado por Deloitte por encargo de la Fundación Artemisan y en colaboración con el Ministerio de Agricultura. Así, señala que la actividad cinegética en España ha contribuido a mantener el equivalente a 199.000 empleos, tanto directos como indirectos, tal y como se desprende de este segundo estudio que recoge datos de 2023. El 32,6% de los cazadores vive en municipios de menos de 5.000 habitantes y "para la mayoría de ellos", la caza es un favor clave para residir en dichas poblaciones, la mismo nivel de los motivos familiares. 5.- La Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos (UPA) ha remitido un escrito al ministro de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación, Luis Planas, para pedirle que intervenga por los "efectos perniciosos" que podría producir un Real Decreto aprobado hace unos días que establece "fuertes reducciones" del consumo de carne y lácteos en comedores escolares. Este Real Decreto establece unas pautas de consumo sobre el consumo de carne que contradicen las de la Dieta Mediterránea, que son de menos de dos raciones diarias de carne roja o menos de una diaria de carne procesada. Así, la nueva norma establece un máximo de una ración de carne procesada al mes y una de carne 'roja' a la semana. Respecto a los productos lácteos, sobre los que las recomendaciones de los expertos establecen un mínimo de tres raciones diarias, que pueden subir hasta cuatro entre los grupos de población con más necesidades de calcio, como niños y jóvenes. La norma establece un máximo de una vez a la semana para yogur y cuajada sin azúcar añadido o queso fresco, "muy lejos" de las recomendaciones comúnmente aceptadas.

Katie is not a religious sister herself, but she was drawn to the mission of the Alliance. She talks about what human trafficking is and what it looks like in our country. She reflects on its shocking prevalence throughout the US and the need for raising more awareness of the issue. She also draws the connection between trafficking and forced migration.Brian and Joe reflect on cases of human trafficking that they have encountered in their ministry. Joe shares the cases of Ximena and Yuliet who were both trafficked during their migrant journey. A Minnesota organization supporting Asian American leaders across Minnesota just received $2.5 million from philanthropist Mackenzie Scott. It's the Coalition for Asian American Leaders, or CAAL, and they're using the funding to launch a new initiative called CAAL Ignite. It's a grant program that provides $10,000-15,000 to Asian American entrepreneurs and small business owners in the state. Applications for the grant open Wednesday. ThaoMee Xiong is the executive director of CAAL. Laura Boller runs a hair and makeup business, “Laura B Beauty,” and is part of the CAAL community. Xiong and Boller joined MPR News host Nina Moini to talk about the grant.

These days, my dream as a musician is to make people feel as connected to the cosmos as I feel when I play the guitar,” wishes guitarist Sammy Boller.Sammy Boller has been playing guitar most of his life. He played in high school orchestra and even attended University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance. In 2012, his life forever changed when he won Guitar Center's “Master Satriani” competition. (Watch his submission for “Satch Boogie” here.)Catapulting off that success, the next year Boller joined Detroit rockers Citizen Zero. The band released their 2016 debut LP, State of Mind, and its lead single “Go (Let Me Save You)” climbed to #17 on Billboard's mainstream rock chart. But even with Citizen Zero's success, Boller wasn't sending listeners into the stratosphere feeling one with the stardust. Then while shopping his instrumental solo work, he quickly earned a fan in CandyRat Records owner Rob Poland who signed Sammy. (CandyRat was started by Poland in 2004 and began working with Don Ross, Andy McKee, Antoine Dufourto. Boller released his debut solo album and an additional standalone single—Kingdom of the Sun and “Path of the Heart”—in 2020 that snake between Sunset shred and post-rock melodies. The next year was celebrated with Boller's stunning third release “Ritual Lights” showing Sammy's first (solo) recorded run in with the wah wah. (Something you'll now see on his pedalboard later.) He's since dropped a pair of singles “Spellbound” and “Midnight Garden” that grow off his enchanting formula and adds in heightened technical abilities and deeper rhythmic grooves. The Super Bowl is now two days away. As the nation gathers around their television sets, there will be many football coaches and scouts who watch Brock Purdy slingshot completions and wonder, “What did I miss?” But not Dave Boller. To get the inside story on Purdy's rise, the “Go Long Show” welcomes on the longtime football scout who most certainly was a believer from Day 1. Boller knew the Purdy family as an Arizona guy himself and he tried to tell schools that the kid had it. Now, the lightning-fast processor has the San Francisco 49ers on the doorstep of Ring No. 6.Our personnel man, co-host Jim Monos, worked with Boller on the Philadelphia Eagles personnel staff. Boller is a well-traveled man. He spent two decades in the NFL, scouting for the Buccaneers (1995- ‘98), Eagles (1998- ‘04) and Rams (2004- ‘07), before working as the Lions' assistant pro director (2007- ‘09), consulting NFC teams (2010- ‘12) and joining the Jets as an area scout (2012- ‘14). From there, he headed to the college ranks. Boller spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons in Louisville. First as director of on-campus recruiting, then as director of high school relations. He had a front-row seat to Lamar Jackson's ascent. Then, it was off to Syracuse where Boller was the director of player personnel 2007- ‘22. Boller is the head of personnel for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL today.He tried to convince Dino Babers to give Purdy a shot, but the Syracuse coach didn't believe. (Babers wasn't alone, either.)The revisionist history on Purdy gives Boller a chuckle.
