Welcoming back Danielle today for a conversation about fairy tales as living, breathing repositories of ancient wisdom and magick. In The Night House: Folklore, Fairy Tales, Rites, and Magick for the Wise and Wild, bestselling author and word-witch Danielle Dulsky peels back the layers of these timeless narratives to reveal their potent role as guides for navigating today's world. Rich with insight and a deep reverence for the ancestral art of storytelling, Dulsky's latest work reclaims the hidden power of fairy tales as spell books, treasure chests, and sacred rites.Historically kept and transmitted by women, fairy tales are distinguishable from other types of folk tales for their magickal and supernatural elements, and because of this, they were often dismissed as trivial domestic fantasies for women and children. The Night House illuminates how this marginalization kept these stories safe from the witch-hunter's noose and allowed women to safely store and transmit their ancient and sacred wisdom. Each of The Night House's nine chapters is a door to an otherworldly realm, unveiling the spiritual and practical magick embedded in tales like “Little Red Riding Hood “and “Cinderella.” By decoding their “glamour spells” and ancestral rites, Dulksy offers a path for readers to reconnect with the Earth, their ancestors, and their own spirits. Mythic images and Jungian universal archetypes arise, and “old ways” are made visible, revealing the call to continue the medicinal work of story keeping for the modern world. Find Danielle: The Night House: https://amzn.to/3R7NuP3Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wolfwomanwitchWebsite: DanielleDulsky.ComDanielle Dulsky is the author of The Night House and numerous other titles including Woman Most Wild, The Holy Wild Grimoire, and Bones & Honey. A heathen visionary, painter, poet, storyteller, and word-witch, she teaches internationally and has facilitated circles, embodiment trainings, communal spell work, and seasonal rituals since 2007. Danielle Dulsky shares her new book Bones & Honey: A Heathen Prayer Book. Heathen is another word for dweller of the hearth. This devotional book is filled with prayers, stories, and poetry inspired by nature and paganism. It offers a way to heal from modernity using spiritual nourishment, spellwork, and eco-devotional language. You can read it slowly or all at once, and it's perfect for anyone seeking daily spiritual inspiration. In her book "Bones & Honey," Danielle Dulsky delves into the growing trend of people embracing a slower, more mindful way of living that is rooted in sustainability and a deep connection with the Earth. Through the exploration of thirteen archetypes and their corresponding themes, such as the Mountain Mage (representing solitude), the Bone-Witch (symbolizing grief), the Heathen Queen (embodying empowerment), and the Shepherd (reflecting nurturing), Dulsky invites readers to embark on a journey towards the "third road"- a path that emerges from the tension between opposing forces. With its rich symbolism and insightful wisdom, "Bones & Honey" offers a guide to a more meaningful and fulfilling life that is in harmony with nature. In the practice of Danielle, the use of "bones" and "honey" is quite common. Bones refer to the remains that are left after an initiation when everything else falls apart. They are associated with darkness, death, and dying. Honey, on the other hand, is a symbol of life's sweetness, golden medicine, and a promise of renewal. In witchcraft, art, and life, it is essential to understand and embrace both aspects. We must acknowledge the transient nature of our existence and have the wisdom to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of our time on this planet. Bones & Honey is arranged into the following thirteen books that are organized around specific archetypes and their themes: Book of Stars: Prayers for Hope's Troublemakers, Impossible Freaks, and Stubborn Visionaries Book of Wild Lovers: Prayers for Lust, Seduction, and Majestic Relatedness Book of the Bone-Witch: Prayers for Grievers, Death Walkers, and Shadow Kin Book of the Heathen Queen: Prayers for Empowerment, Sovereignty, and Truth Telling Book of the Moon: Prayers for Secret Keepers, Midnight Poets, and Fringe Dwellers Book of the Mountain Mage: Prayers for Sacred Solitude, Transformation, and Inner Alchemy Book of the Wounded Healer: Prayers for Heartache, Healing, and the Shining Self Book of the Nameless Grandmothers: Prayers for Ancestral Healing, Lineage Exploration, and Forgiveness Book of the Pagan Warrioress: Prayers for Battle, Bone Gathering, and Rough Beauty Book of the Botanical Babe: Prayers for Innocents, Beginnings, and Wild Children Book of the Shepherd: Prayers for Nurturing, Self-Love, and Space Tending Book of Shape-Shifters: Prayers for Time Weavers, Human Evolution, and Strange Futures Book of Bones and Honey: Prayers for the Bittersweetness of a Most Heathen Life Danielle believes in the power of the wild feminine and human-to-nature intimacy. She is the author of The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman and Woman Most Wild: Three Keys to Liberating the Witch Within. She translates the wild feminine into motherhood, magick, multimedia art, and teachings of embodied spirituality, writing, and movement alchemy. Two years ago, we met Danielle Dulsky, heathen visionary, painter and word-witch. We discussed the release of her third book, Seasons of Moon and Flame, and new oracle deck, Sacred Hags Oracle. These lunations are held in four parts that reflect the four seasons. The best part about having a podcast is that I can speak with authors and artists that I admire.I recently read a really wonderful book called Seasons of Moon and Flame: The Wild Dreamer's Epic Journey of Becoming by Danielle Dulsky. It was a soulful and poetic feast for the imagination! As a creative writer and magic teacher myself, I felt a deep kinship with where Danielle was coming from. And I was super excited that Danielle agreed to come on my podcast for a chat. Danielle Dulsky calls herself a wild dreamer. And after speaking with her, I whole-heartedly agree. As a consummate Aquarius, Danielle is full of the wisdom of the wilderness. In this interview, we discuss her some of natal chart, illuminating how her Aquarian nature makes her a voice crying from the wilderness. We also muse upon cyclical time and the value of living in rhythm with natural cycles: Moons, seasons, and aeons alike.Danielle believes that words are spells. And that stories are medicine. She believes in the power of the wild feminine, reconnecting to ancestors, and an intimate relationship with nature. In her own words, she translates the wild feminine into magick, storytelling, motherhood, multimedia art, and teachings of embodied spirituality. Some see it as a religion, some as an art...she sees it as both.   We discuss the witch wound (trauma passed through generations from the persecution of those revealing their spiritual gifts), and how it to this day still prevents so many of us from fully stepping into our life paths as healers, storytellers and teachers. Danielle reminds us that a life of true authenticity can only be revealed to us once we are able to reveal our own selves fully to the world, as this vulnerability leads us to our greatest strengths.   Bio: Danielle Dulsky is a heathen visionary, pagan poet, and word-witch. The author of Seasons of Moon and Flame, The Holy Wild, and Woman Most Wild, she teaches internationally and has facilitated circles, communal spell-work, and seasonal rituals since 2007. She is the founder of The Hag School and believes in the emerging power of wild collectives, cunning witches, and rebellious artists in healing our ailing world. Today I'm speaking with Danielle Dulsky, author of Woman Most Wild: Three Keys for Liberating the Witch Within. Today, we're focused on Daniells' second book, The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman. We talk about ancestral inheritance and its influence on our spellcraft, mothering as witchcraft, and we touch on the effects of whiteness, capitalism, and patriarchy on our spiritual practice. She also tells us some awesome stories about the Mother of Babylon and other dark goddesses. It's a toothsome conversation and I found Danielle very relatable and I suspect you will too! Be sure to check out her newest book, Seasons of Moon and Flame: The Wild Dreamer's Journey of Becoming, due out March 10, 2020. In this conversation, Danielle mentioned The Atlantis Bookshop in London, and recommended the book The Witch of Portobello by Paul Coelho. I translate the wild feminine into writing, multimedia art, teaching, motherhood, and witchcraft, but I aim to have my core message constant: It is our birthright to resurrect embodied spirituality, a unique holiness that is lived out and experienced in the body, through the senses, and made manifest in ritual, story, and magick-making. I am the author of Woman Most Wild: Three Keys to Liberating the Witch Withinand The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman(New World Library 2017 and 2018), a pagan poet and heathen storyteller, a Celtic free-style Witch, and I long for the mists. This Sacred Life Podcast with Shann Vander Leek | Soulful Living | Feminine Sovereignty | Wisdom Teachings

Every month I share transformational conversations with women who have learned to walk in beauty, with the strength, courage, and pleasure of reclaiming their feminine sovereignty. Women all over the world are rising up to have their voices heard and to be treated with respect. I like to give each of their voices a platform to speak their truth and inspire our listeners to do the same. Today it's my honor to introduce you to  Danielle Dulsky who amongst many things, is a midwife for helping us dig deep to access our holy wildness. She reminds us that we were all wild once. I first introduced you to Danielle during the Goddess Talk Sessions and again when she published her first book, Woman Most Wild (New World Library).  Danielle Dulsky is the author of The Holy Wild and Woman Most Wild. She is an artist, yoga teacher, energy worker, and founder of Living Mandala Yoga teacher training programs. She leads women’s circles, witchcraft workshops, and energy healing trainings and lives in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Today we’ll be discussing Danielle’s new book, The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman The Holy Wild is the bible for the modern witch (female, male, or beyond the gender binary) who wants to deepen their spiritual power and embody magic at a new level. It is the book that can open up a previously timid or nervous person, who is afraid, yet excited about their energetic power. It is a guidebook for anyone who wants to look at their lives in a new way and reclaim the passionate vibrancy that our patriarchal culture may have stifled or tried to snuff out. The Holy Wild is a potent and powerful read… You can get a copy wherever books are sold. Show Notes: Your book is called The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman. How did you come up with this title? Who did you write this book for? What do you mean by the words “wild” and “untamed”? Could you give us an overview of the five elements, and how you made use of them in your book? You proudly call yourself a Witch. Can you explain what that means to you What if our listeners aren’t ready to identify as a Witch, but would like to invite more magick into their lives? Do you have any advice for them? A significant part of the book offers the reader a chance to write their own “verses” and stories. Why is this so important for their experience? Where can our listeners get a copy of The Holy Wild?

Danielle Dulsky What threatens us about the words WILD, or WITCH? What feels good? How can we pause and conjure the power of the archetypal feminine? Is your Wild Woman calling you...or out of control? Danielle Dulsky is a long-time activist for wild woman spirituality and the divine feminine's return. She shares simple, accessible, powerful ways to find your own, unique spiritual path of empowerment, honoring your cycles and re-connecting with nature. Woman Most Wild debunks old assumptions about witches being “bad” or “evil” and reveals the true nature of witchcraft: an ancient spiritual path of reverence for the natural rhythms and cycles of life. She helps us all reclaim the power we were born with and asks us to come home to our inner witch. Instead of being shamed for our “wildness” she validates it as our birthright, which includes a deep connection to nature. In her own words “The wild is your human way of relating to the life-force that is beyond human but wholly natural.” Regardless of gender, we can all tune in to the wild woman spirituality drumming underneath our feet, and Danielle is the perfect guide on the journey. Witches were burned because they were healers adept at using herbs and other gifts of Mother Earth. When freed slaves got the vote, it was just the men because no women could vote. We still don't have an Equal Rights Amendment. Women make less money than men for the same job. Only 4% of Fortune 500 Company CEOs are women. We have destroyed our natural resources, polluted the environment and mistreated our animals. The U.S. President, who should be a role model, speaks disrespectfully to and about women, was accused of rape and said that Hillary was not presidential while waving his hand in front of his pants' zipper. Yes, we have made progress. Still we devalue the Divine Feminine, which is in all of us. We must bring that part of our nature to the forefront to balance the energy in the world. The cycles of nature, intuition, community and social justice must be honored if we are to thrive. Please join us Thursday to learn why liberating the witch within is a spiritual necessity.
