On this week's episode we're discussing the ancient origins which inform our collective cultural superstition of Friday the 13th. We talk about some of the bad things which have happened, if an unlucky day can be measured statistically and the mysteriously connected stories from both Norse mythology and The Bible which strongly inform our belief in Friday the 13ths dreaded unluckiness. We also begin to tell the tale of how Friday the 13th has strong roots in the history of The Knights Templar and address a huge piece of the puzzle that I've never heard outside of my own research. In the extended version of the episode we continue with the history of the Knights Templar and dive right into what exactly made them such an unprecedented force on the world stage. We talk about what made them exceptional among other knights and members of the Church before finally digging into the shocking details of the heresies and secret initiatory rituals which were accused of the Templars during their spectacular downfall. In the end we discuss their continued legacy, how it relates to Friday the 13th and take a rare deep dive on the esoteric truths contained in the symbol of The Baphomet. So, it's time to dive in and talk about the research, stats, natural family dynamic of wild horses, domesticated dams and weanlings, common sense and most of all, what I've learned along the way that I believe is best practices for weanlings – what's in their best interest.Starting Young Horses, Part I How & When (Developing Good Habits) https://www.buzzsprout.com/815860/episodes/5349703 Starting Young Horses, Part II: How to Begin Your Horse's Education & How to Problem-solve https://www.buzzsprout.com/815860/episodes/5370628 Young Horse Development & Age-Appropriate Training, Part III https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/young-horse-development-age-appropriate-training/id1504085225?i=1000603347868 I'd like to give a special thanks to Elisabeth for allowing me to share her journey raising Frigga, her baby Fjord, with all of you. The Story of the Magi from the east is an echo of the ancient, pagan world. We take Christian history for granted and forget the power of the ancient, pagan world and the influence of the East on the Western World. A good example is that the ancient Babylonians named the weekdays after the five planetary bodies known to them and the other two days they dedicated to the Sun and Moon (Sunday and Monday). The Jews, of course, explained the seven days of the week differently. The Romans followed the Babylonian example, not the Jewish, and the Emperor Constantine established the seven-day week in the Roman calendar in 321 A.D. designating Sunday and Monday as the first two days of the week. The names of our days of the week came later in European history. The other English weekday names were derived from Anglo-Saxon names for gods from Teutonic mythology. Tuesday comes from Tiu, or Tiw, the Anglo-Saxon name for Tyr, the Norse god of war. Tyr was one of the sons of Odin, or Woden, who in turn gave his name to Wednesday. Thursday originates from Thor, the god of thunder. Friday is derived from Frigga, the wife of Odin, representing love and beauty. Saturday comes from Saturn, the ancient Roman god of fun and feasting. We kept Sunday in honor of the Sun and Monday in honor of the moon. The echoes of the pagan world are all around us. A blast from the past. This episode played three years ago. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the mass conversion of the pagan world to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The worship of the Creator, not the created. Readings: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/010823.cfm The music is licensed under One License and is performed by the St. Mark Choir.

If you want to live, you must do what it takes to be more fulfilled, happier, and less stressed. But what is that? Frigga, Thor's mother and Queen of Asgard, imparts a very valuable lesson on her son that we can all apply to our lives. We all go through times when we're not happy. You might lose the confident energy that you had, or you might just be frustrated with yourself because of a perceived failure. But let me tell you that being anxious and full of stress is not the key to being more positive. You have to be nicer to yourself, yes, but you also have to push yourself to be authentically "you".For me, it was a big, long journey to Japan, trying out many things, failing again and again, and eventually landing on the idea that I just wasn't being myself. Cliché? Yes. But it's the truth. And also, I made myself into more of the person I wanted to be because of all those failures. So, if you want to know how to be happy in life - not just complain less, but be motivated and productive, then it's time to take Frigga's advice!Original video: https://youtu.be/g4Uf4nwA7I4 ***Connect and Support Geek Psychology #geekpsychology ***Socials, courses, and 1-on-1 coaching services: geekpsychology.com INFP only community and safe place and INFP MasterclassGeeky Myers Briggs Personality Type MerchSupport on Patreon
“Everyone fails at who they are supposed to be, Thor. The measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at being who they are.” (Frigga, Avengers: Endgame)The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most successful film franchises in history. But the popularity of these movies & series isn't merely based on superheroes and quirky one-liners - it's rooted in how effectively the MCU portrays the human experience, including mental health struggles of all kinds. From Ironman to Avengers: Endgame and beyond, the MCU confronts us with mental health realities. Pat & Father Nathan discuss lessons we can learn by viewing them through a lens of faith. The concept of Thor always worked wonders within the pages of a Marvel comic or in Norse Mythology or in a 1988 Incredible Hulk telemovie but translating it to the big screen would prove to be a massive gamble. Directed by Kenneth Branagh and released in 2011, Thor Just Thor managed to rope in a terrific cast including Chris Hemsworth in the title role, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Rene Russo as Frigga and more. Combining magic, technology and myth it became a key part of the MCU paving the way for over a decade of appearances from the character. But the eyebrows were bad. In this epic conclusion to Norse mythology, we cover the entire story of Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world. We tell the whole story, from Balder's death to Loki's punishment, and the battle itself on the field of Vigrid, and the renewed world. We also discuss the dichotomies represented by each of the gods and their enemies, and discuss our thoughts on Norse mythology as a whole. As always, there are many tangents, including a discussion on cynicism, a comparison of the punishments of Prometheus and Loki, Revelations, and how many pencils are on a certain endtable. We look at the halls of Asgard, Heimdall's visits to Midgard, several of Loki's trickster stories, the tales of the Norns, Idunn's apples of immortality, and a very abridged version of the Sigurd Saga. We also narrowly avoid several rants, talk extensively about J.R.R. Tolkien, and share the important themes behind many of these stories. Follow us on Twitter! @UlmtdOpinions

Phase 2, Episode 2. Oh boy. The episode we've been dreading...for now. It's Thor: The Dark World starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Rene Russo, Christopher Eccleston and directed by Alan Taylor. Pat has trouble finding a whole heckuva a lot to like about this movie, while Mike finds a lot of convenience in the plot development in order to move the story forward. It's a bit odd that the focal point of all the nine realms just happens to be in London where all the supporting cast of the movie are also just happening to be working....but we digress. There is some good stuff in this movie as the ever-growing brotherly relationship between Thor and Loki strengthens and deepens in its complexity. And we get to see Frigga kick some serious butt...if she's not long for the MCU. (Spoilers!) Enjoy the episode! 0:21 Adam ShepardWho would you be more excited to see direct a film in the MCU - Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, or Martin Scorsese? Bonus point for picking a franchise /character for each director.3:36 David RosenPutting aside for a second whether Disney would actually do this (and I don't think they would), do you think there is a marketing campaign that Disney COULD do to let general audiences know that the next Spider-Man solo movie does NOT take place in the MCU?9:04 Mookie JohnsonI've read the 3 Ironheart issues of her series on Marvel Unlimited and absolutely love them! My MCU question is can her movie origin be connected to Pepper Potts since Tony isn't available? Also, do you think Storm Reid would be a good casting?12:05 MayaHi Sean! Bear with me because this is kind of a lot. After really thinking about it, the only heroes that are highlighted as parents are all male- Clint, Scott, and Tony. Although they are shown to be family-oriented, they are given a pass for always being away because they are “saving the day”. Do you think the MCU is hesitant to showcase mothers as superheroes because the idea of “being away to save the day” as a mother still has stigma associated with it? Much like the shame surrounding working mothers? I love seeing all the fierce, independent women in the MCU, but I can't help but wonder why heroine motherhood has not been explored. And when I say heroines I'm not talking about Pepper, Frigga, and the other minor mother characters in the MCU, but major characters like Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Valkyrie, Gamora, Nebula, etc. We've seen male characters as fathers, husbands, lovers, loners, friends, mentors, mentees, the list goes on, but we do not see this same range of identity within female heroes. I get that Marvel Studios is trying to break the mold of women just being caregivers, but I feel like we are beyond that at this point. Do you think Marvel Studios thinks having a hero-mom will diminish her as a superhero? I'm wondering if the only reason Marvel Studios is exploring motherhood with Wanda in WandaVision is because the setting is in the 1950s and potentially Wanda's fantasy world. Either way, I'm excited to see this finally getting explored in WandaVision, but hopefully we can see it in a current setting as well. Would love to know your take on this.23:22 Terry MortensenIf Marvel were to obtain the rights to Spider-Man while Sony is late in the process of making their own Spider-Man 3, do you think Marvel would release the movie as planned, reshoot some scenes, or completely scrap it for their own version?27:29 Tom DeMicheleThoughts on Doctor Strange having a mustache instead of a goatee for the sequel?28:25 Woo S KimWhat your your thoughts on the rumors of Max E.
