How to create a trauma-sensitive space where all students feel empowered to make their own choices. Danielle Dulsky shares her new book Bones & Honey: A Heathen Prayer Book. Heathen is another word for dweller of the hearth. This devotional book is filled with prayers, stories, and poetry inspired by nature and paganism. It offers a way to heal from modernity using spiritual nourishment, spellwork, and eco-devotional language. You can read it slowly or all at once, and it's perfect for anyone seeking daily spiritual inspiration. In her book "Bones & Honey," Danielle Dulsky delves into the growing trend of people embracing a slower, more mindful way of living that is rooted in sustainability and a deep connection with the Earth. Through the exploration of thirteen archetypes and their corresponding themes, such as the Mountain Mage (representing solitude), the Bone-Witch (symbolizing grief), the Heathen Queen (embodying empowerment), and the Shepherd (reflecting nurturing), Dulsky invites readers to embark on a journey towards the "third road"- a path that emerges from the tension between opposing forces. With its rich symbolism and insightful wisdom, "Bones & Honey" offers a guide to a more meaningful and fulfilling life that is in harmony with nature. In the practice of Danielle, the use of "bones" and "honey" is quite common. Bones refer to the remains that are left after an initiation when everything else falls apart. They are associated with darkness, death, and dying. Honey, on the other hand, is a symbol of life's sweetness, golden medicine, and a promise of renewal. In witchcraft, art, and life, it is essential to understand and embrace both aspects. We must acknowledge the transient nature of our existence and have the wisdom to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of our time on this planet. Bones & Honey is arranged into the following thirteen books that are organized around specific archetypes and their themes: Book of Stars: Prayers for Hope's Troublemakers, Impossible Freaks, and Stubborn Visionaries Book of Wild Lovers: Prayers for Lust, Seduction, and Majestic Relatedness Book of the Bone-Witch: Prayers for Grievers, Death Walkers, and Shadow Kin Book of the Heathen Queen: Prayers for Empowerment, Sovereignty, and Truth Telling Book of the Moon: Prayers for Secret Keepers, Midnight Poets, and Fringe Dwellers Book of the Mountain Mage: Prayers for Sacred Solitude, Transformation, and Inner Alchemy Book of the Wounded Healer: Prayers for Heartache, Healing, and the Shining Self Book of the Nameless Grandmothers: Prayers for Ancestral Healing, Lineage Exploration, and Forgiveness Book of the Pagan Warrioress: Prayers for Battle, Bone Gathering, and Rough Beauty Book of the Botanical Babe: Prayers for Innocents, Beginnings, and Wild Children Book of the Shepherd: Prayers for Nurturing, Self-Love, and Space Tending Book of Shape-Shifters: Prayers for Time Weavers, Human Evolution, and Strange Futures Book of Bones and Honey: Prayers for the Bittersweetness of a Most Heathen Life Danielle believes in the power of the wild feminine and human-to-nature intimacy. She is the author of The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman and Woman Most Wild: Three Keys to Liberating the Witch Within. She translates the wild feminine into motherhood, magick, multimedia art, and teachings of embodied spirituality, writing, and movement alchemy. The Individualist, who feels different and alone so often, is often paralyzed so much that he hides out in the hills and is hard to find. Ennea-Dragon 5. The Investigator, who feels safest when he understands the Ways of Life and Dragons in Great Detail. This dragon is very educated and knowledgeable, and since dragons are known to live a long time, has spent a good deal of it collecting information. Ennea-Dragon 6. The Loyalist, who struggles with anxiety and is a Worst Case Scenario expert, and therefore is very organized and alert for any hint of trouble. Ennea-Dragon 7. The Enthusiast. You would think that this dragon doesn't have a care in the world. Flitting and frolicking and always ready for a fun time. Ennea-Dragon 8. The Boss, who loves a good fight and can breathe fire masterfully. Ennea-Dragon 9. The Peacemaker wants above all else to avoid conflict and to be surrounded by peace. In this episode, we discuss the origins of The Accessible Yoga Association and Accessible Yoga School and unpack ways that yoga teachers can create change in an industry that has strayed so far away from the roots of yoga. In our final episode with Dr. Livengood (we can't believe how fast 7 episodes flew by!), we talk about something we are personally obsessed with here on the Artisan team: essential oils (EOs) and the byproduct of that, plant medicine. Essential oils are plants, as you know, but just in a highly concentrated form, and their uses are millions. Literally, oils are a concentrated extraction of plants, which do different things depending on what you need and have been around for a really long time! In today's episode, we talk about aroma vs. therapeutic-grade EOs, carrier oils for dilution, processed vs. organic, and the overall health benefits of EOs. Everything from headaches to muscle soreness to colds to immunity to cleaning your home to shampoo to ... and the list goes on. We cover it all. Bonus! Dr. Livengood offers what is known as a Rain Drop Therapy program in her office, and it's literally the best! A super relaxing treatment, utilizing 8-9 EOs which help the immune system fight off germs, this therapy also causes the muscles to relax and calm, and everything is specific to the spinal column and nervous system (using a reflexology system). Oh, goodness! But this is a hot button item right now (and not new to the discussion). Today we talk about all things toxins, and while this can be overwhelming to hear all the ways we are getting them thrown at us, it's also a super inspiring episode about the small and simple changes you can make to protect yourself and your loved ones! First off, we chat about the harmfulness of pesticides and GMOs and how pesticides are linked to cognitive and degenerative diseases like Parkinson's. Not only do we talk about what we ingest and take in (think physically like our food, water, environmental factors), but also the emotional and mental toxins out there. How do we speak to ourselves? How do we allow others to speak to us? Where do we set emotional boundaries? Finally, we round it out with what the body does with toxins (for this, think poop, urine, tears, period, etc.), and what YOU can do, small and easy ways to detoxify your body and home. It's a long-standing discussion, the benefits of Eastern Medicine vs. Western Medicine and the beauty of being a naturopathic doctor is that they often blend the best of both worlds, working to ensure patient success on every level. In today's episode, we will be diving deep into the differences and what they could mean for you, depending on your individual and unique needs. Western medicine tends to be more "insurance-based," where the patient is paying to fix a problem (which can be necessary and acute), but it's not necessarily paying to feel your best or investing in your long-term health. Eastern medicine which has been around for thousands of years, primarily stems from Ayurvedic medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. These include methodologies such as acupuncture, plants, herbs, yoga, and working with your Chi/Prana. Did you know? The world, up until about 120 years ago, utilized only plants for medicine? That's right! It wasn't until a guy named Bayer in Germany distilled down some plants for Aspirin (willow bark, primarily) that we had a revolution in the science of medicine. We know you want to listen in, so grab a seat, or take a walk, and we'll deep dive together! www.livengoodhealth.com @drelizabethlivengood

We all know that our brains start to decline around the age of 65, and then again at 75 and the earlier we start to do some preventative work, the better! Sudoku? Yes, and also, a few other things, because you can catch cognitive decline early and work to counter it. Some of those early warning signs include the following: difficulty following storylines, difficulty completing tasks, loss of sense of direction, not knowing where you parked, family history, and repetition of statements or stories. Luckily for you, this is a passion area of Dr. Livengood and she is chatting today about not only brain health, but a brand new program that can help anyone who both sees those early warning signs, and those who want to work against them as early as possible. Her brain health program helps too, with things such as the prevention of diabetes, protecting against hypo and hyperthyroidism, obesity, and cardiovascular problems. In today's episode with Dr. Livengood, we go past simply speaking about the physical regarding your health, and truly utilizing a 360° view of wellness, discussing the critical roles that your mind and spirit also play. Take yoga, for example. Dr. Livengood has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 18 years and has seen the power of yoga, not only for the physical benefits but for the emotional and mental benefits as well. For example, the emotional release that can come during your final resting pose, Savasana. Each yoga posture is a meditation in and of itself, not just Savasana, but everything together allows for holistic healing and benefits. We also discuss the ecosystems of our bodies, and how things like meditation can create more nerves and gray matter in your brain. Yes, it can. It's like building muscle mass when you work out. When you meditate, the entire body benefits, and things like memory, empathy, retention, awareness, socialization, and relationships benefit. The power of the mind is outstanding and today we deep dive into it all! www.livengoodhealth.com @drelizabethlivengood

Auto Immunity. What the heck does that actually mean and why is it so important? In today's episode with Dr. Livengood, we chat about what autoimmunity (AI) is and what it means for you, how to spot early warning signs, and why this is something that has become a hot topic in recent years. Autoimmunity diseases, unfortunately, are increasing not only yearly, but monthly and an AI response vs an AI symptom are two different things, and it's important for us to know that distinction. Did you know there are AI warning signs that we should be aware of, and AI disease tends to be 7 times more likes in women than in men (we also go to the doctors twice as many times as men do). Listen in for a fascinating discussion about AI diseases such as Hashimoto's disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Heavy Metals, EMFs, and more, and learn about ways to spot those early warning signs before they become a larger issue! www.livengoodhealth.com @drelizabethlivengood

We've had Dr. Livengood on the podcast before, and as the response was so overwhelming to her interview (and our love for her, deep), we wanted to take a little more time to chat with her about some of the burning questions we all have regarding health and wellness. For today's episode, tuck in with your favorite turmeric coconut latte, and you'll get a chance to learn about the difference between food sensitivities and allergies, testing for each, and the various struggles we all have - and figuring out IF we have either an allergy or a food sensitivity (there's a difference, folks!). We'll also get an insider look at the ever-changing food industry (careful of frog legs' in tomatoes - and no, we did not make that up) and how to best take care of yourself when it comes to foods! Today I had the pleasure of speaking to Corena Hammer, E-RYT500, about the energetics of sex. I believe there was a time in history, in some parts of the world, where sex was a sacred act. Let's bring that back, shall we? What does this have to do with Being Boundless? Everything. If you don't know yourself, you will never be Boundless. If you don't understand the energetics and the consequences, energetically and otherwise, of your actions, you will always be bound. Sex is indeed sacred. This can be recognized, or it can not be. Either way, the energetics are still the same. Bringing awareness to energy is the most liberating thing one can do. Why would we leave consciousness out of something so instinctual? Let's make sex sacred again, shall we? Do what brings you joy, and your purpose will unfold.-Iyanla Vanzant What brings you joy? What makes you happy in your heart? What makes you happy in your soul? These are the questions that propelled me on my personal journey to discover my True Self. I wanted to align with my higher self to not only bring more joy and peace to my life but to also live congruently with my soul. Taking time to connect with your soul and finding your true purpose takes work and lucky for you my next guest has created a program to help you find your soul's true expression so you can start living the life of your dreams in just four weeks. Now the four weeks part may sound surprising but I'm here to tell you, you can do it, but it does not come without putting in the work. You hear me say all the time, "there's no magic pill." Well, a more fitting quote is "None of the secrets of success will work unless you do." If you want to be successful, set yourself up for success. Find a way to hold yourself accountable. Discovering what brings you joy will lead you to discovering your soul's true expression. It all takes time, energy, and work, but I promise you the amount of joy and love waiting for you as you carry out the life you were meant to live is worth every second spent on yourself. About Noelle: Noelle began teaching Yoga in 2006 after graduating from Nosara Yoga Institute with a mission of only teaching Yoga and serving the world in a way that felt authentic, fulfilling, and reflected her values. Her vision and brand is called Narayanishakti (pronounced nah RYE ah nee shock tee). This is a representation of both her Highest Self, and her life's work. As an E-RYT500 and YACEP, She offers Yoga education through courses like Bhakti Mythology and Mantras, Mentoring for Yoga studios and Yoga teachers, Spiritual Life Coaching and online courses like Soul Alchemy, and Mantra Meditation and Music. Her mission is to help people discover and clarify their Soul's true expression, so they can embody their authentic vision and confidently share themselves with the world. She is honored to help people connect to their own internal guide, so they can create and live the life of their dreams. Throughout the years, Noelle has been the Co-Director of Wilmington Yoga Center, senior trainer for the Kunga Yoga School, and has led 11 international Yoga and Service retreats to India, Jamaica, Belize, and Costa Rica. Along the way, as a teacher and student of Bhakti Yoga, constant travel and so many events, workshops, series, Kirtan events, and Yoga Music Festivals, she craved stability, simplicity, and clarity. Inspired through her studies, travel, events, and yoga music festivals, Noelle desired to create a program which could serve more people from anywhere in the world and have a greater impact than one-offs, and she really wanted to be more focused on her method of service which focused on practices that connect us more deeply with our heart and each other through the ancient wisdom and teachings of Yoga. From this calling, she created Soul Alchemy: an online group and private coaching program helping people discover and clarify their Soul’s true expression, so they can confidently share their authentic vision with the world and live the life of their dreams in just 4 weeks. Noelle truly believes that all the challenges we go through in our lives serve to prepare us for our calling, and we can be led there by following what we are passionate about. This two part interview features amazing insight into the life and work of musician and yoga teacher, Mark Moliterno. In this episode Mark continues elaborating on this sense of self and sound. Why is singing not a acalming activity for so many people? We often focus on teaching inhalation, but are we intentional about the how and why of teaching exhalation? The voice is an energetic instrument and Mark relates the voice to the different chakras, or energetic wheels that spin to build and disburse energy from the body. Mark concludes with how he integrates the yoga poses into his work as a singing teacher and how we can begin to consider yoga as a technology in which to approach our singing.  Mark Moliterno (MM, E-RYT500, C-IAYT, YACEP, POLY®, FOUNDER OF YOGAVOICE®) is an award-winning professional singer, voice teacher, yoga teacher, IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist, workshop leader, and author.
