According to Men's Coach and Somatic Practitioner Sean Hotchkiss, everyone carries traumatic experiences with them from when they were young. These can be major emotional traumas like the divorce of your parents, or they can be micro traumas... but when they are left unresolved, they can shape who we are as adults (and parents), how we navigate life, and how we relate to others. In this episode honoring Mental Health Awareness Month, Sean Hotchkiss joins the conversation to discuss the real value of expressing anger and the benefits of unpacking our traumas of the past, all the way down to a cellular level.Episode 106 of Modern Dadhood, Adam and Marc open the show by welcoming new listeners, and giving shout-outs to Hark Audio, where Adam recently created his first Harklist, and Pocket Casts for generously highlighting Modern Dadhood in the Kids & Family category. The guys acknowledge Mental Health Awareness Month and introduce the guest into the conversation. Sean Hotchkiss is a Men's Coach, Somatic Practitioner, and Embodiment Guide. He works with men (many of whom are dads) to uncover and process traumas of their past. The conversation gets deep, covering topics like:• What it means to be a somatic practitioner and embodiment guide• What inspired Sean to transition from fashion writing to coaching• What are the most common sources of trauma for men?• How are repressed traumatic experiences accessed and processed?• Who can benefit from this kind of coaching?• And more!Marc rounds out the episode with a quick installment of Did I Just Say That Out Loud?LINKSSean Hotchkiss (official website)Sean Hotchkiss (Instagram)Caspar BabypantsSpencer AlbeeModern Dadhood (website)AdamFlaherty.tvStuffed Animal (Marc's kids' music)MD (Instagram)MD (Facebook)MD (YouTube)MD (TikTok) #moderndadhood #fatherhood #parenthood #parenting #parentingpodcast #dadding #dadpodcast

Full transcription available at http://heartsofgoldpodcast.com/ Chris submitted a bill to their state representatives to create protections for children who are shown on family vlogs. Chris found out the lack of privacy protection to these children, created awareness in their community, connected with a representative to draft the bill and get it presented to the Washington State House with Emily Wicks, and has presented to Oregon's state legislature. Chris also shares their progression from Bronze Award to Silver Award to their Girl Scout Gold Award and experience during the Gold Award process. More from Chris: I have been a Girl Scout from 3rd grade through to my senior year in high school, and have recently become a lifetime member. I earned my bronze award by creating informational booklets about the Seattle Locks with my troop, my silver award by leading an art workshop for Brownie Scouts and creating a toy drive for Seattle Children's Hospital with two fellow scouts, and my gold award by introducing legislation to the Washington State House of Representatives. Aside from Girl Scouts, I have been a member of Sustainability Ambassadors from 6th grade through senior year in high school, leading projects on water sustainability, teaching teachers about how to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of their curriculum (from history to art to science to math), and writing sustainability blogs for the Sustainability Ambassadors Writers Group (SAWG). I feel like I'm experiencing a baby boom of sorts between family members and Financial Gym clients! I felt like it made sense to talk about kids and money again on the show, especially from a financial trainer's perspective. You've heard me say where money and emotions mix, it becomes challenging to make the best financial choices. Speaking from experience, I can say there is nothing more emotional than raising a child or multiple children. Having a child means more expenses, but it also makes it challenging to make more income and navigating the best decisions when there are limited choices is stressful at best. Joining me today are Randi and Sara, two trainers at The Financial Gym who are also moms to talk about how they personally handle some of these situations but also help their clients work through them as well. IT IS TIME TO DECIDE THE BEST SPORTS MOVIE OF ALL TIME. We have created a 64 movie bracket broken up into 4 regions: Drama, Comedy, Kids/ Family, & Biopic/ True Story, all seeded 1-16 based on their overall average review score. Who better to make this monumental decision than Host Spencer & his 2 guests, Martin & Victor. The first part of a 2 part episode has the guys breaking down the Drama & Kids/ Family Regions... hopefully you like the Rocky Series & The Mighty Ducks, as those movies come up a lot. As that boxer guy said... LLLLLLLET"S GET READY TO RUMBLE*! *No rumbling actually occurred in the making of this episode.
