In this episode of HappyCast, we welcome Kathryn “Kat” Stewart, Charmin McKee, and Gus Rodriguez—three incredible ultrarunners who completed the 2024–25 Lone Star Slam. This ambitious challenge—completing six 100-mile races across Texas in just eight months, including Habanero Hundred, Cactus Rose, Dinosaur Valley, Brazos Bend, Rocky Raccoon, and Grasslands—sets the stage as the crew dives deep into what it takes to conquer the Slam. Each guest shares what got them into the challenge and how their motivation evolved with every race. Charmin juggled a demanding job and motherhood while using trail running as her personal outlet. Kat transformed the challenge into a fundraising campaign for her daughter's rare genetic condition. Gus embraced the Slam as a way to discover new parts of Texas and test his pacing strategy across diverse terrain. From dancing into aid stations to sleepwalking into emotional breakthroughs, this episode reveals how joy, grit, and community can carry runners through the darkest miles. The crew reflects on their highs and lows—from near DNFs and energy drink-fueled hallucinations to ghost energy (both literal and figurative) and the dreaded terrain of Cactus Rose. With stories of unconventional nutrition (shoutout to chicken salad, Bobos, and Ghost Energy), sandal running legends, and surprising race favorites, this conversation captures the spirit of ultrarunning in its most rugged and rewarding form.Be sure to subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen, and we always appreciate you leaving a good rate and review. We're back! After a bit of a hiatus, we're back on the airwaves with a brand new episode of Cultpix Radio. It feels good to be back, and we've got a lot to catch up on. This episode is all about filling you in on what we've been up to during our break, the incredible events we've hosted, and the exciting content we've been adding to Cultpix.First up, we dive into the recently concluded Wickman Week. This was an event like no other—a celebration of exploitation and genre cinema that took place at a truly unique location in Sweden. We screened films on 35mm, welcomed guest speakers from around the globe, and even handed out our very first Torgny Award to the one and only Lisa Petrucci from Something Weird Video. Lisa's contributions to the world of exploitation cinema are unparalleled, and we were thrilled to honor her in this way. We also streamed all the non-film content live on Facebook and YouTube, and it's still available to watch on our YouTube channel, though we'll be moving it to Cultpix soon.Next we take you through the recent themed months on Cultpix. We wrapped up Amazonian August, where we dug deep into the Something Weird Video archives to unearth some truly bizarre new jungle films. There's also the ongoing Italian Genre Maestros week, featuring cult classics like "Massacre in Dinosaur Valley" (1985) and several works by Enzo G. Castellari. These films are quintessential examples of the Italian exploitation genre, and we're excited to showcase them, even if some are geo-blocked to Scandinavia.Speaking of what's coming up, we're especially excited about the impending arrival of Satanic September. This month, we'll delve into the dark and twisted world of satanic cults and rituals with a carefully curated selection of films from Something Weird Video and beyond. We've got everything from "My Tale Is Hot" to "To Hex with Sex," and it's going to be one hell of a month! We've also been hard at work on something many of you have been asking for—apps! Yes, we are finally developing apps so that you can enjoy Cultpix on more than just your web browser. First an app for the Amazon Fire TV Stick, which will make it easier for us to roll out apps for Android TV as well. Roku is also on our list, and after a few bumps in the road, we're optimistic about launching a Roku app by the end of the year. We're even eyeing smart TVs and Apple TV as future platforms. We wrap up the episode by reflecting on the films and events that have made the past few months so memorable. From our juvenile delinquency-themed June to the Swedish Sin celebration in July, we've been busy curating and bringing you the best of cult cinema. And don't worry—this episode isn't a one-off. We're committed to returning to more regular programming, with more episodes, more themed weeks, and more deep dives into the wild and wonderful world of cult films. So, sit back, relax, and let us take you on a journey through what's new, what's coming, and what's making Cultpix the ultimate destination for exploitation and genre cinema fans. We've missed you, and we can't wait to share all the exciting things we have in store. Also, enjoy the five-hour (!) Spotify playlist from our recent book launch - order the book HERE! For this, Frank watched and reviewed a movie for each category: the 1985 Italian cannibal film Massacre in Dinosaur Valley and the 1983 Lou Ferrigno vehicle Hercules.

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! MIFV MAX members Michael “The Man of Many Nicknames” Hamilton and Daniel “Godzilla Novelization Project” DiManna sponsored this Patreon episode on the semi-obscure ‘80s cartoon Dinosaucers, a comedy-action series about anthropomorphic alien dinosaurs battling each other. Sadly, Nate doesn't find it as cool as that description sounds, much to his guests' chagrin. The nostalgic Michael and ever-positive Danny make valiant defenses of the show—even when it gets culturally insensitive and a bit cringey. But then it has flashes of brilliance like when the characters travel to Japan and get in a pseudo-Godzilla movie and play a workout video from Chuck No-Wrist. You read that right! Episodes covered: “Dinosaur Valley,” “Sleeping Booty,” “The Truth about Dragons,” “Age of Aquariums,” and “Karatesaurus Wrecks.” Beforehand, Nate tries—and fails—to sneak past a Space Beastman to acquire the rare scotch for WHG3 and enlists H.E.A.T.'s super-spy, Monique Dupre, for help. Afterward, he and Jet Jaguar take the scotch to Nessie's Brasserie, where they meet an overeager Bonnie and H.E.A.T.'s techie, Randy Hernandez, and acquire a micro-SD card with evidence against Winter—that requires a password to avoid deleting the data! This episode was edited by Christopher Riner and Nathan Marchand. The prologue and epilogue, “Hijinks,” was written by Nathan Marchand with Michael Hamilton. Take a trip to Dinosaur valley state park, and learn a little more about the best way to not burn down your campsite. The Ignik Firecan. I took a three day camping trip and made it to a handful of different state parks on my way home that included Meridian State Park, Cleburne State Park and Dino Valley State Park. While I was just at Dino Valley for the day I was able to get in some great sights, stick my feet in the water, and even see dinosaur tracks! --- Texas was really dry this summer so a lot of parks around the state had burn bans in effect. Ignik sent me their Firecan for review, and I found it's a wonderful alternative to natural fires. They even make great things to have in the cold months as well. ▬▬▬▬▬ Misc ▬▬▬▬▬

Acomi and Turk182 take a trip to Amazonia in search of the lost tribe responsible for the Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985). Known by some as Amazonas, Cannibal Ferrox II, and Stranded In Dinosaur Valley. Regardless of what you call it, the outcome is the same. No dinosaurs, hardly a massacre, slave traders, and unexpected (but not really) cannibals. A cult classic, though we're not entirely sure why, its more Italian exploitation cinema than old fashion B-movie. Having all the makings of a classic B-movie, naked woman, mustache twirling bad guys, low budget, lack of continuity, inexplicable moments that have nothing to do with advancing the story, and movie posters that are better than the movie itself; not to mention incredibly misleading. Massacre In Dinosaur Valley gives you all this, minus any actual dinosaurs, but in a BINGO ball spinner fashion. Spitting out elements at random, as if it were written from a fever dream. So, throw away your worthless Michael Chrichton collection and prepare for a real dinosaur showdown in the valley where it all began. Join Acomi and Turk on their charter flight to look at fossils and the thunder lizards that make them. It's just a little trip to the Amazon. We'll be back home in no time. Trust us. The last thing you'll have to worry about is a Massacre In Dinosaur Valley (1985). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #MassacreInDinosaurValley #nodino #cannibals #cultclassic Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. In this special bonus episode of Genre Exposure, we usher 2021 to a close with a final look back over the year. First, we reflect a bit on launching the podcast itself and go over some of the things we learned and struggled with during the year as well as highlight some of our favorite moments and share just a few regrets. After that, we leave the best of 2021 top 10 lists to the experts and instead go over some of our favorite film discoveries we made this year. That is, specifically, any movie that we watched this year for the first time regardless of its release date. Finally, we wrap up by laying down some plans and wishes for the new year. As our intro suggests, this podcast is really more about the journey than the destination. To everyone that has tuned in, left a comment, or even reached out with feedback thank you so much. We really appreciate it and it means the world to us. Here's to 2022 and another year of exploring (and celebrating) the wide world of cinema. A plane crashes in the Amazon jungle, and its passengers must battle their way through cannibals, slave traders, wild animals and murderous piranha fish to safety.
Bobby, Julie and Mike ring in 2019 with another Michael Sopkiw (Blastfighter, Massacre in Dinosaur Valley) classic. In a post-apocalyptic New York, the remaining people struggle to survive in the nuclear wasteland of the US where no babies have been born in over 12 years. It's up to Sopkiw to repopulate the planet.
Welcome to the next instalment of our sub-set of show exclusively looking at the Italian Collection releases of 88 Films. 88 Films have, for the last 3 years or so, have been on a tear releasing a torrent of Italian genre classics in high definition. I have been purchasing them and it should be no surprise to anyone, I have left them pretty much unwatched (what can I say...I'm a compulsive collector). In order to watch the movies I buy, and of course create some quality content for you all Under the Stairs, I will be running through each of the movies on this bonus series between 1-2 movies a month depending on the TPUTS schedule. So strap yourself in for a rollercoaster ride of alleged plagiarism, zombies, gore, rape, genital mutilation, sexism, revenge, gialli, cops and robbers, cannibalism, sci fi & more bush and titties than an annual subscription to Penthouse magazine. Disc 22 sees the return of cannibals to the collection!! In a late attempt to make the genre relevant again Michele Massimo Tarantini brought his action take on Romancing the Stone to the cannibal tribes of Brazil…oh yeah and slave traders…don’t forget them too, in Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985). The grading follows the Netflix rating style of 1 = Hated It, 2 = Didn’t Like It, 3 = Liked It, 4 = Really Liked It & 5 = Loved It Massacre in Dinosaur Vally Duncan: 3Up next on the Italian Collection Series is Disc 23 - AEnigma BUY OFFICIAL TPUTS MERCH FROM http://tputscast.bigcartel.com Check out the show on iTunes, TuneIn & on Stitcher Radio. I went to Dinosaur Valley State Park outside of Fort Worth, Texas. They have foam dinosaurs that’re pretty cool. It had been raining all week and the ground was saturated. Then it rained some more. Resources: Dinosaur Valley State Park
Legendary Italian B-movie director Lamberto Bava (Demons) makes his Grindbin debut with the Italian rip-off of Rambo, Blastfighter. Featuring Grindbin All-Star Michael Sopkiw (Massacre in Dinosaur Valley), as Jake "Tiger" Sharp, a horrible father who wants to ignore his family and live in a cabin in the woods. Co-starring the iconic Italian actor/writer George Eastman, Blastfighter is an action movie for fans of the exploitation genre and is one not to be missed.
Wham, bam, premiere episode! That's your cue to be excited. We're Austin, Andy, and Rory - three good friends, spanning several corners of the mighty Pacific Ocean, embarking on a journey to revisit cartoons we loved as kids to see if they hold up. Survey says: maybe!? I mean we were all garbage little kids once. Have you met kids? They have famously shit taste. This episode, you’ll learn some exciting details about cotter pins, Digivices, and Dinovolving. So get in gear, slam some Capri Sun™, and take a sweet little nibble of our cartoon delights. THIS WEEK'S EPISODES: ---Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) #1 (or #13, depending) - “Heads or Tails” ---Digimon Adventure #1 - “And So it Begins…” ---Dinosaucers #1 - “Dinosaur Valley”
The boys take a trip down to Brazil for their first adventure into the cannibal sub-genre of exploitation film. Marketed as "Cannibal Ferox 2" in the UK despite having literally nothing to do with the first movie, Massacre in Dinosaur Valley is an exercise in the absurd. Rivaling Raw Force in it's random dubbing and nonsensical plot, Dinosaur Valley is an incredibly enjoyable bad movie that is a true hidden gem in the exploitation catalog.
On this week’s episode, Harley and Josh walk barefoot in the beautiful Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. This oddity starts a few hundred million years ago, takes a detour to the British Isles and ends up in a Druid grove. We had a great interview with John Beckett, author of The Path … Continue reading "74 – Dinosaur Valley State Park, Glen Rose, TX" The post 74 – Dinosaur Valley State Park, Glen Rose, TX appeared first on Travel Oddities Podcast.
Episode 70 - Dinosaucers. So we are back with undoubtedly the greatest worst episode of all time. This time the guys and gal Dinovolve up (or maybe down) with the Dinosaucers to battle against the evil Tyrannos. This week we watched Dinosaucers Season 01, Episode 1: Dinosaur Valley. You'd think after helping the Dinosaucers vanquish Genghis Rex (and by that we mean make fun of) they'd at least make us honorary members of the Secret Scouts ... well they didn't and now we have to find a better way to get close to Sara Spencer.
