Great mining projects don't begin with equipment—they begin with trust. In this episode of Mining Minds, we sit down with Allison Anderson, a highly respected external affairs and communications professional, to explore one of the most important—and often least understood—roles in modern mining. Allison shares her unconventional journey from journalism and public relations to becoming a trusted bridge between mining companies, government, and the communities they serve. From advancing AngloGold Ashanti's North Bullfrog and Arthur projects to supporting workforce development, education, local partnerships, and long-term community investment, Allison provides an inside look at the work happening long before mining begins. She explains how meaningful communication, transparency, and genuine collaboration create lasting relationships—not only for a successful project, but for the future of communities like Beatty, Nevada. This conversation is a reminder that while mining may produce the resources the world depends on, it's the people, partnerships, and trust built along the way that ultimately determine its success. Special thanks to AngloGold Ashanti for opening its doors and giving Mining Minds the opportunity to highlight the people, partnerships, and purpose behind responsible mining. If a person was standing to earn a large amount of money and he was planning how he was going to use that money to help many different organizations and needy people. And then all of a sudden the deal turned sour and he did not earn anything from it, he may start to think to himself: I don't understand, I was going to do so many great things with this money. Why didn't Hashem give it to me? Doesn't He want all the poor people to be supported? The first thing this person needs to realize is that Hashem does not need anyone to support the poor. If someone is a major supporter of any type of organization, he should feel so fortunate that Hashem is giving him the merit to support it. However, he must know if he wasn't supporting it, someone else would. If the organization is worthy of being in existence, then Hashem will ensure that it gets the money it needs to survive. A man told me, he was on the verge of earning a large fortune and he was so excited to begin working on opening a much needed Torah center in his community with the profits, as well as funding much needed renovations in his shul. In the end, he lost the deal and was not able to contribute even minimally to those projects. But, a different person in the community did earn a large amount of money and he ended up doing exactly what this person wanted to do. The Torah center is now built and flourishing and the shul has been renovated. The man told me, "When I was planning out what to do with the money, I honestly thought that these projects would only get done if I made this deal, but I now see Hashem has many ways." If a person thought he was going to get money and in the end he didn't, it's a very big kapara , without the person having to actually lose anything. He should thank Hashem for all of the ups and downs that took place during the ordeal and recognize it was all for his good. If he had been praying, every one of his tefilot brought him closer to Hashem and he'll be rewarded for all of them. Furthermore, just because Hashem determined it would not be good for him to have the money he wanted at this time, it does not mean that it will not be good for him to have it in the future. A person should never say, "That was my one chance to finally have some breathing room in life and now that I lost it, it'll never come again." The same way that Hashem gave him this opportunity out of nowhere, He could just as easily give him another, similar opportunity. A man told me he had what he thought was a once in a lifetime opportunity that if it went according to plan it would allow him to quit his job and spend his days learning Torah and doing avodat Hashem. Everything was going perfectly, but then, at the last minute, it all fell apart. He was back to earning a small salary, scrounging to make ends meet each month. He said to himself, "That was my one opportunity and now it's gone." Less than a year later, a totally different opportunity came his way with very similar potential earnings. In the end, that one also fell through, but he said, "What I thought was impossible, Hashem showed me is possible." The opportunities are endless. If a person's time comes for him to be blessed with money, Hashem knows how to find him. Until that time, a person must know he is living with the exact finances that Hashem knows he needs to live with to do his job properly. Nobody has any say in the amount of money a person earns except for Hashem. He should never feel that a circumstance made him lose out on a certain deal, or a comment made by another individual. Everything is always part of Hashem's plan for him and Hashem knows exactly what is best for everyone all of the time.

This podcast interview focuses on the entrepreneurial journey to discovering powerful strategic frameworks through trial and error. My guest is Sharat Potharaju, CEO of Unicode. Sharat is a serial entrepreneur with 15 years of experience. He navigated through a decade of ventures that didn't scale before founding Uniqode in 2019. His company has since grown to serve over 50,000 businesses worldwide, including Fortune 500 companies, by creating innovative technology that connects physical and digital worlds through mobile experiences. What makes Sharat's story remarkable is his methodical approach to business building, where he combines weekly deep strategic thinking with rapid experimentation frameworks, always maintaining that impact—both for employees and customers—is what drives his entrepreneurial energy. And this inspired me, and hence I invited Sharat to my podcast. We explore how an entrepreneur's decade of failures can become the foundation for remarkable success. Sharat challenges conventional wisdom by dedicating specific time each week for deep thinking about long-term strategy while handling day-to-day operations. He reveals why being selective about advice is crucial for maintaining entrepreneurial confidence, and how balancing luck with persistence creates the conditions for breakthrough success. His approach makes products dead-simple for users while sticking to strict testing methods to know what works. Here is a quote that captures one of Sharat's most striking business lessons: "It's important to love your product, but it's even more important to be obsessed about the problem that you're trying to solve. Because if you're not obsessed about the problem, eventually you'll just fall in love with your product and lose your focus on vision." By listening to this podcast you will learn: Why entrepreneurial success typically takes a decade, not overnight, and how to mentally prepare for this reality How to implement a "Wednesday deep thinking" practice that balances long-term vision with short-term execution The secret to filtering advice from well-meaning investors, mentors, and colleagues without losing your entrepreneurial confidence How to create frameworks for experimentation that prevent chaos while maximizing learning For more information about the guest from this week: Guest: Sharat Potharaju Website: uniqode.com Learn more about your ad choices. Today's episode of Success is Subjective features a conversation between Joanna and Steve Roth. Steve is a licensed clinical social worker, and the Executive Director of The Arise Society – a transition center that supports young adults with digital addictions, mental health challenges, and those who struggle with motivation. While college wasn't optional in Steve's family system, he personally was very eager to begin his post-secondary education upon highschool graduation. With an inclination towards psychology, he set out with a game plan in mind and pursued his undergrad at Plattsburgh State University of New York. Steve's journey to where he is now was anything but cut and dry — taking him on a global pursuit of self discovery and personal development. While he is passionate about his wife, friends, career and those he is able to help, Steve encourages listeners to lean into moments of discomfort - the seasons in life where nothing is as hoped for - because it's both the good and bad experiences that ultimately lead each individual to where they need to be.Steve's Resources:The Arise SocietyConnect with Joanna Lilley ALT Fair 2025Therapeutic Consulting AssociationLilley Consulting WebsiteLilley Consulting on Facebook Lilley Consulting on YouTubeEmail joanna@lilleyconsulting.com#TherapeuticConsulting #LilleyConsulting #Successful #YoungAdults #TherapeuticPrograms #Therapy #MentalHealthMatters #Podcast #PodcastCommunity #StudentMentalHealth #TheJourney #SuccessIsSubjectivePodcast #TheUnpavedRoad #PFCAudioVideo #TheAriseSociety

Sunday December 15, 2024 at the Hub City Church How to Have a Fulfilling Christmas | Luke 1:46:55 Sermon by Tadd Anderson | Lead Teaching Pastor Sermon Notes: The most important means of CELEBRATING ‘Christmas' is NOT giving GIFTS to ONE ANOTHER; it is attempting to EXPRESS our awe and humble GRATITUDE for GOD'S inexpressible GIFT, through SINGING. 1. Singing EXISTS because some REALITIES are too WONDERFUL for God-CONSCIOUS beings to KNOW and merely TALK about. Genesis 2:23 // Exodus 15:1-2 // 1 Samuel 2:1 // Romans 11:33-36 2. Because Christians know God, there are ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES to SING about His glorious CHARACTER and WORKS. Psalm 47:6-7, 66:2, 147:1 3. Upon HEARING the NEWS of God's merciful PROVISION of the promised SAVIOR, Mary and the multitude of ANGELS alike burst forth in SONG. WE should too! Luke 2:10-14 // Luke 2:28-32 // Colossians 3:16 “Christian singing is the musical use of the voice to express truth that accords with God's word, and feelings that accord with God's worth. It is a gift beyond measuring." — John Piper The Hub City Church is a local expression of the church in Crestview, Florida, making disciples Who Believe the Gospel, Abide in Christ and Obey the Word to the glory of God. “I'm a very practical person, so I love technology,” says Russell Crampin of Axians. “I love seeing what's new out there, but I always ask the question, so what? How does it help me? How does it help my customers? How can we make money?” In this podcast, Russell outlines the practical side of AI and how AI is already being used to help MSPs, and the clients of the MSP community, do routine organizational tasks, better. Russell stresses that AI innovation is part of a larger, longer continuity that stretches backwards and forwards in time, of applying machine-based technology to leverage the advantages of processing data, quickly. Wi-Fi, for example, is an everyday tool that almost every organization offers to employees, and typically onsite guests. Here's a place what MSPs can shine for their customers in overcoming challenges and delivering better experiences “Why is my network running really slow? Why is the Wi-Fi user in this part of network not getting a good reception? And this network will be learning, the tool will be learning, well, what's going on there? What's specific about this environment? What patch levels are they on? What is the connectivity? What is happening? What are the firmware levels? And it will start to diagnose and make recommendations. And that means that we can use our engineers to be more customer service focused and talk and proactively help users and customers rather than be doing hard coding, trying to run scripts and finding out what's going on, because all that's taken care of…” adds Russell. Axians is an organization with 16,000 employees, across 37 countries, with revenue of €3.6. Visit www.axians.com

Dog parkour is the hottest dog activity because ANY dog can do it ANYWHERE. And unlike other dog sports or activities, there is no one to compete against. Dog parkour is a combination of human parkour (google it) and canine agility. In this episode of the pawdcast, Karen and Jean chat with Abigail Curtis, the co-founder of the International Dog Parkour Association -- https://www.dogparkour.org/ Dog parkour combines elements of human parkour and dog agility to create a fun and accessible activity for dogs and humans. For dogs, they get to experience the world through jumping, climbing, balancing on, crawling over and under, and going through things they see every day – like a park bench. That's the fun of dog parkour can be done anywhere and is limited only by the owner's imagination. According to Abigail, the best thing about dog parkour -- it not only exercises a dog's mind and body, it helps build confidence. It can be very a low impact but a challenging activity for any dog. I'm taking a few weeks off to go climb some mountains on my bike. In the meantime, I'll be doing reruns of some of my Panic with Friends favorites, like this one with Garry Tan. This episode aired back in September of 21. If you missed it when it first came out, now is a good time to catch up. I think you'll really enjoy it. Garry is a unique individual I've only met a couple of times. He says he's a fan of the show, so he knows how to sell. His resume is bananas – something we love on Panic with Friends; they may not be famous to everyone, but they're famous to me! Garry is a Stanford Graduate, was at Y Combinator in the heyday, and was partners with Alexis Ohanian (founder of Reddit). If that weren't enough, Garry was a seed investor in Coinbase. Oh, and Garry's now part of my go-to list on the crypto space along with Fred Wilson and Chris Dixon. Hal McEvoy is the President & CEO of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions), the leading association for the global attractions industry for 104 years. After getting a taste of the industry as an operations Cast Member at Walt Disney World in 1972, Hal joined Busch Gardens Tampa as an accounting clerk in 1975, kicking off his career in finance and accounting, as well as his passion for the industry. After spending more than 38 years with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Hal initially became involved with IAAPA in 2005, and later became CFO of IAAPA in 2017 and swiftly became President & CEO 10 months later. In this interview, Hal talks about endless opportunities, the importance of rolling up your sleeves, and making meaningful connections. Endless Opportunities "The association, to me, is like a 104 year old infant." In an industry centered around ambition and innovation, doors are constantly opening. Technology spreads like wildfire, and guests from around the world travel even further to experience things that were only ideas years ago. Given this world where change is the only constant, IAAPA has embraced the endless opportunities of the industry. In an international association, there's opportunities to see the industry thrive in certain locations as well as help other locations recover from the impact of the pandemic. Endless opportunities also means endless challenges, and every day presents a chance to help solve these challenges to help improve the future of the attractions industry. Rolling Up Your Sleeves "I'm the type of person who likes to roll up his sleeves and know what's going on." It's important to know what's going on. Rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty not only improves your daily operation, but it also gives you a chance to see all the turning gears of a company and how everything fits together in a constantly changing puzzle. In a worldwide association like IAAPA, there are so many aspects of the operation that it takes over 25 directors to help manage the operation. By getting your hands dirty, you can find all the pieces and how they fit together, solving problems at the source and making you a more valuable asset. Making Meaningful Connections "Having fun and making memories is what this industry is all about." In an industry where so many people are involved and passionate about what they do, meaningful connections are one of the most important and fun aspects of the attractions industry. Making memories and making friends is the most enjoyable part of life, and it's one of the core aspects of IAAPA. When walking across the IAAPA trade floor, it often takes much longer than anticipated sheerly due to the amount of meaningful connections that are made and maintained throughout the industry. In an environment where it's so easy to connect, it takes a short time to have memories with nearly everyone you see at the conference. It's often mentioned that one of the greatest things about this industry is the people, and IAAPA tries to embody that ideology beyond the trade floor. To learn more about IAAPA, visit their website. When I speak to people in their twenties, they tell me about the things they want to do, but they also tell me how they struggle to go about doing them. This both excites me and disappoints me. This is because in the world we live in now, there are endless opportunities and we're still asking about how to find them.
We all want to be successful and to have several opportunities to get ahead. The good news is that you don't have to wait for opportunities to happen for you. But you have to create the ecosystem for opportunities to show up in your life. Here's how to increase opportunities for yourself in your career and life: Have clarity in your goals. Help others. Show your work and do so with passion. Get out there and be visible. Ask for what you want. Ask for feedback often even if you are scared of criticism. Get more exposure to new opportunities. Network and leverage your network. Be curious. Be assertive. Share your ideas openly even if you don't think they are great. Sell the vision of your idea to others and especially to senior or powerful people. Address needs in the market. Always keep an eye on your alternatives even if you are happy in your current situation. Share your story, beliefs, values, and messages with the world. Take calculated risks to try something new and prove a concept. Be persistent even when they say no. Embrace challenges and problems as potential opportunities. What do these ways of creating opportunities have in common? They are uncomfortable at times. They push you to proactively take action even if you are scared of looking like a fool and being judged by others. They are rooted in a drive to connect, to express, to expand, to serve, to fulfill a desire, or to pursue a personal vision.
