Returning to RunPod this week is Colson Smith, aka Craig from Corrie! He found running during lockdown and ever since it has quite literally changed his life for the better. He has documented his running journey in a new film, which is out now. ‘Bored of being the Fat Kid' follows Colson as he embarks on a new health and fitness regime which has now become a way of life. Colson's commitment to running is so inspiring and will absolutely motivate you to get off the sofa and head out for a run. He offers tons of brilliant tips and advice for new runners or anyone keen to improve and discusses at what point you can officially refer to yourself as ‘a runner'. A great episode with someone who has truly been bitten by the run bug. Enjoy.
A huge part of growing up as a fat kid is being afraid to pursue certain dreams and ambitions. You might have felt like you couldn't succeed because you were fat, you might have been shamed into believing you were incapable because of the size of your body, or you may have simply lived with an intrinsic belief that because you were fat, you didn't deserve the things you wanted. On this episode, we're talking to Chala Tyson-Tshitundu about their lifelong passion for food, how they dreamt of turning it into a career, what got in the way, and what brought them back to the pursuit of their dreams, and ultimately, themselves.
On this episode of Big Calf, we're talking about an important part of any kid's life: being horny. Your body is surging with hormones, you're developing quicker than the other kids in your class, and sex is something that you feel like you want, but don't totally understand. If you grew up as the fat kid, horniness and sexuality are even more complicated. Writer, model, content creator Kendra Austin joins us to talk about why. CW/NSFW: This episode has explicit descriptions of sex.
Todd & Craig open this episode with not just one fantastic song but 3. This show is a bit of rock and roll and a bit of country. Todd introduces you to a new strain parents of Girl Scott Cookies & Cherry Pie, Fat Kid Cake. Law updates on a number of topics including multiple conviction set asides. Shout outs to Big Daddy Bain and others. Enjoy and please share and subscribe
When it comes to sandwiches, bigger is often better. Now some of Richmond's biggest sandwiches are being created at Hatch Kitchen in South Richmond. Fat Kid Sandwiches launched last year during the pandemic as a to-go concept. Later this year, Fat Kid will be one of the restaurants opening in the now-under-construction Hatch Local food hall. Liz Clifford and Jon Martin, the couple behind the concept, said when it came to naming their business -- the choices came down to naming it after Jon's grandmother or Fat Kid. "Well, we were sort of trying to explain to people what kind of business we wanted to run, what kind of sandwiches we were gonna make. The easiest way to explain it to people is we're gonna make real fat kids sandwiches," Liz Clifford said. "Our plan is to put mozzarella sticks on a chicken parm and have a club that's so tall you have a hard time eating it. These are really big, serious sandwiches. And we could never come up with a better name you know? I mean, it really got the point across this is what we're trying to do." Neither Clifford nor Martin are strangers to Richmond kitchens. They shared their story along with the birth of Fat Kid Sandwiches on the most recent episode of Eat It, Virginia! They're also offering a giveaway to Eat It, Virginia! listeners. Click here for details on how to enter. Scott and Robey also discussed the Richmond Black Restaurant Experience which runs March 7 - 14. You can also get more information about Robey and Chef Mike Lindsey's virtual dinner to benefit Greater Richmond SCAN when it is posted here. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When I say “Australian Cinema”, the first thing you probably think of is either Mad Max or Crocodile Dundee. While it’s true, these two characters no doubt are Australia’s biggest contributions to pop culture, there is one little film from the 1980s that’s often overlooked, yet was at the forefront of a burgeoning movement that was about to blow up and create an entirely new world of extreme sports, not to mention, introduce the world to a certain future film star… I’m your host, Dave, and joining me as we do some gnarly barspins are fellow cinephiles and sandbaggers Ryan, Mike, and special guest: Jackie. Listen as we discuss the weirdly sexualized alternate VHS covers for BMX Bandits; we wonder if the film’s alternate title of “Short Wave” would have been a more apt description for this walkie-talkie obsessed movie; and finally, we try our hand at some fan fiction as we attempt to build a more fleshed out backstory for the unfortunately named character of “Fat Kid”. Taryn has never seen it before, so she doesn't have the nostalgia for it that Shannon has...does that mean it's impossible for Taryn to love it? Is this just a movie that exists for Taryn's kids, and not Taryn? Or will Shannon's love AND nostalgia shine through and show what a perfect movie this is? Tune in and find out if Shannon and The Monster Squad win the battle, or if Taryn hates the movie.
