On Friday afternoon, the police were alerted to a disturbance in the 1200 block of Indiana Street. The situation escalated when the suspect fled the scene with the female victim, suspected to be taken against her will, as the Borger police were dispatched around 3:40 p.m. A vehicle matching the suspect's description was soon spotted by officers, leading to a pursuit towards Fritch. The chase came to a head near the Hutchison-Potter County line where, according to Police Chief Donnie Davis, the male driver was shot with a firearm found inside the vehicle. Reports from ABC 7 News confirmed that it was the victim who had managed to fire the shot. The suspect, wounded but alive with non-life threatening injuries, was rushed to an Amarillo hospital. The woman, having survived the ordeal, was evaluated at a local hospital. As the investigation unfolds, details such as the suspect's identity and specific charges remain under wraps. “The Four 6's” Shooting: A story not generally known by our generation, that occurred on the 6666 Ranch in the 80's. The 6666 Ranch is located in the panhandle of Texas (our local area) near Fritch and Borger. The “four 6's” is now currently (in part) a filming location for the Paramount Yellowstone series as well as the spin off 1893. The 6666 Ranch is now own by Yellowstone series creator Taylor Sheridan, as of March 2022 and is still a working ranch known for its superior Angus beef and legendary quarter horse stallions. If you love a good old Texas story, this is an exciting, yet brief one, tragic, yet justice was upheld for a hard working family in the end. If you appreciate “The Four 6's Ranch” or are a fan of the Yellowstone/1893 series, you won't want to miss this one!!! We also touch on the recent Borger “swatting” event and a similar case. Phil & Jake are joined by friend-of-the-pod Micah to rank the reality TV show Hoarders, the craft beer style known as IPA, and the activity of backpacking on the List of Every Damn Thing. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: The Collyer Brothers were famous hoarders who died in the 1940s. There was a musical made about their lives. Aida is a Verdi opera, first performed in Cairo in 1871. Of course Phil pronounced it wrong. What did you expect?! During the episode Jake drinks a Picnic Lightning by Brouwerij West. It's a top-notch Hazy IPA. Shop ‘n' Wash was a laundromat & convenience store in Ukiah, CA. It's name is pure description, zero wordplay. Phil feels that laundromats should have some wordplay in their names eg "Get the Funk Out" "Escamoles" or "Mexican caviar" are ant eggs eaten as food by adventurous eaters like Micah. Phil referred to Shackleton's Endurance as Sir Edmund Hillary going to the North Pole in the Perseverance. The wreck of Endurance was just discovered in March of 2022! "The Ride" by David Allan Coe is a 1983 country song about an encounter with the ghost of Hank Williams while hitchhiking from Montgomery, AL to Nashville, TN. Phil mentions Plagues and Pleasures on The Salton Sea, a documentary about the area. It's a very strange place both culturally and geologically. Today on the lost sci-fi podcast an author who knew what he wanted to be when he was only 10 years old, how many of us can say that? This native New Yorker kept story ideas in a notebook before he was a teenager. Born in Utica New York on the 20th of January 1927. Like many authors of his time he served in the United States Army during World War II, he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. After the war he graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in English and a minor in Psychology. Why Psychology? He said he did it so he could "get inside the heads of the characters in his stories“. Obviously this man had a plan! Although we know of him because of his work as a Science Fiction author he didn't stop there, he also wrote fantasy, horror and mysteries. He wrote more than 50 short fiction stories starting in 1951 and kept writing short sci-fi for almost 50 years. In addition to writing he was the editor of Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine from 1979 until 1985 and he was the editor and publisher of the sci-fi magazine Gamma. Gamma wasn't exactly a success, publishing only 5 issues between 1963 and 1965. Gamma didn't fail because of a lack of talented writers. The debut of Gamma in 1963 featured a story by Thomas Lanier Williams the 3rd, better known as American playwright and screenwriter Tennessee Williams. Oh and Ray Bradbury and Rod Serling also contributed stories to the magazines very first offering. A near mint condition copy of that first issue of Gamma sold not that long ago for $125, but don't worry a slightly less pristine copy is still available if you're an aspiring collector for only $16. I thought about buying it but shipping to Costa Rica where I have lived for the last 5 years would add another $50 and take up to month to get here. Our accomplished and successful author wrote a few provocative mystery novels, including Strip for Murder and Psycho Sinner as Eric Thomas, 7 Deadly Sinners as Christopher Sly and Negative of a Nude. He was also known to have used the pen name Chester H. Carlfi and may have written at least one novel under the House Name Troy Conway, but we don't know for sure. His writing career began in 1951 with "The Wallpaper" which was published in Other Worlds magazine. His legal name is Charles Edward Fritch, but most know of him as Charles E. Fritch. You'll find Fritch in the Internet Movie Database, also known as IMDB, thanks to a short story he wrote titled The Misfortune Cookie, which was adapted for an episode of the television series The Twilight Zone which aired in 1986. Silvia secretly planned to divorce George when they reached Arcturus. But a space journey can alter a careful plan—or hatch a worse one! Phil & Jake are joined by friend-of-the-pod Jade Puget (from AFI and Blaqk Audio) to rank mini-trucks, the enigmatic historical curiousity known as "Fritch's mustache", and the Green Day album Kerplunk! on the List of Every Damn Thing.Follow Jade on Instagram (@jadepuget) and Twitter (@jadepuget). AFI will be touring in 2022; don't miss their new album Bodies. And Blaqk Audio is playing shows too.If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). We also have a subreddit!SHOW NOTES: Jade and Jake are both proud graduates of Mendocino College, where they could be found playing Terminator 2: Judgment Day pinball in the Eagle's Nest circa 1993. There's some talk of The Crappy, which was the name given to the house (in our hometown of Ukiah, California) where Jake lived and all his friends hung out. West Side Ukiah (aka “the good side of Dora”) is the Ukiah neighborhood where Phil grew up. It's above sea level. Jake and Jade were from the much-grittier streets of Empire Gardens and The Meadows, respectively. “Sudden Impact” was the name of both a mysterious drifter as well as his awesome mini-truck. It's also the name of the white-guy group in the “Motownphilly” video. Their album never got released. There's a podcast about them but we haven't listened to it. “Motownphilly” is of course by Boyz II Men, not Bell Biv DeVoe as Jake claims; though Michael Bivins did produce the song, and does the rap in it. We talk about 2 Live Crew, a rap group from Miami who were especially dirty and loved bass. Here's "Pop that Coochie" to give you some idea of what they were up to. We also mention “Ditty” by Paperboy. The mustache photo under discussion was printed on the CD of D Is For Delinquent by Jade's early band Loose Change (with Chon Travis). Another early band of Jade's that we mention is Influence 13 (with Nick 13). “Continuity of self” is the sense of self-continuity that represents the ability to perceive oneself as an entity that extends both backwards into the past and forwards into the future. This sense allows individuals to view themselves as being the same, despite the tremors induced by time and environment. Jake was the lead in the musical Li'l Abner in high school. Phil was in the play too in a small role. The end of one of Jake's songs was Phil's cue to come on the stage, so Phil listened to Jake sing it many times and sometimes gets it stuck in his head. Jake is not as into the Doggystyle album art as Phil accuses him of being. Green Day songs discussed include “2000 Light Years Away” and “Dominated Love Slave”. We also mention their record 39/Smooth, the Sweet Children EP and Dookie. Other albums discussed include the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique and Nirvana's Nevermind. Green Apple Books (Jade calls it “Red Apple Books”) is a world-class bookstore on Clement Street in San Francisco. Phil briefly worked there but it turned out wasn't suited to retail work. Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk is a great documentary about the scene that Green Day was a part of in their early years. Have you ever taken an online course on a platform that is difficult to use and maneuver? David Fritch is the founder of Thinkable, one of the most popular course platforms. He is also a mentor of mine and has been for years. We are both kingdom entrepreneurs and I love this conversation we had. Key Takeaways: How our testimonies intertwine together How David's mission helps people share their message How many think Christians shouldn't be "selling" About David: I've been in ministry for over 25 years and my driving passion has been to call and equip the church to worship and pray unto revival and the fulfillment of the great commission. I've served as a missionary in South Africa, taught Bible College, helped pioneer a global prayer movement, and launched an online ministry school. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would add entrepreneur to my bio. In 2017, I set out to launch my first business called Thinkable. I started it because so many of my friends in ministry kept asking me questions on how to start online courses. Most of them had no clue of where to start, how to market it, and what technology to use. So, I took everything I learned from the ups and downs of pioneering a global online ministry school and created a step by step process to make the path to releasing powerful and profitable online courses simple. The results have been incredible! More lives are being changed because world-class leaders are releasing life-changing courses. In this episode, we have a special guest and announcement to share that the Talk to Your Pharmacist podcast has added our newest team member! Kristi Fritch is a 4th year student pharmacist at Belmont University College of Pharmacy in Nashville. Kristi has a number of skills, which is what caught my eye as I looked for an intern locally and made the choice to bring her on . Not only does she sing - which is pretty common in Nashville - but she also has great energy, passion, and pursues excellence as she has challenged herself by pursuing the combined PharmD/MBA degree. And we're “essentially sisters” as we are both Chi Omegas. Kristi will be using these skills along with her expert marketing savvy to help grow the Talk to Your Pharmacist podcast. Joanne Pauyo, Pharmacy Future Leaders host, interviews Kristi Fritch, a pharmacy student from Belmont University School of Pharmacy. ABOUT KRISTI FRITCH: Kristi Fritch, founder of Take Heart Health, has been passionate about nutrition and fitness since she was young. While she was learning to manage money in Monopoly, she was also learning how to manage calories and count points. Needless to say, this strict mentality eventually took a toll on her mindset towards food and exercise. For many years, Kristi struggled with a negative relationship with food and tried every diet and exercise program under the sun. After several years of striving to be “skinny” enough, God began to wreck her negative mentality and renew her motivation for a healthy, balanced lifestyle. In May of 2015, she graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Nutritional Sciences and a minor in Business Administration. Shortly after, she began a Beachbody challenge group and learned how to invite the Lord into her health and fitness goals. She finally understood that because of her relationship with Christ, she's already viewed as more than enough. No number on a scale, calories consumed, or inches around her waist can define her worth. Ultimately, Kristi has learned that her pursuit of health and fitness is about strengthening her mind, body and soul. In the beginning of 2016, Kristi decided to help others experience this freedom through her business/ministry, Take Heart Health. Each month, she hosts Fitness Accountability Groups and is always available for individual consults. This Fall, she will begin Pharmacy school in Nashville where she will continue to help others build a balanced lifestyle through strength, support and scripture! We're LIVIN' THE DREAM on BEHIND THE LENS again this week as actress Kendra Montagna joins debbie as special guest host. One of the most beloved zombies from the web-series CO-OP OF THE DAMNED, Kendra just finished up at Comic-Con with NBC and HEROES REBORN and talks about "Behind the Lens at Comic-Con" as well as some of her acting adventures. We just can’t get enough of LIVIN' THE DREAM so following up to last week's fun with web series creators/writers/directors Kim & Mai Spurlock and actress Laura Campbell, this week producer Byron Beane is on hand together with Erin Fritch, another one of the stars of the series. Many of you may know that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act. This week also marks the start of the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world in 2015 and the largest single event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games. Timed to these landmark events is a special documentary airing on KCET – A WHOLE LOTT MORE – and we have writer/director Victor Buhler joining us at the halfway point of the show to talk about the story behind the documentary and some of the amazing individuals showcased therein. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
Liam realises that he does in fact have to record an episode, and it takes him six weeks to get anywhere. Meanwhile, Ethan and Fritch do everything they can to scare off this week's guest.
This week Liam and Ethan bring back Fritch and manage to lassoo in another poor individual in the form of Jon Martindale, from XSReviews. They talk games, and they talk smut, but they try and keep the smut on the downlow. Well. They tried.
Liam, Ethan and Ian return with new cohorts...and a bird?! Listen as Fritch desperately tries to tell the news and a stray crow attacks Liam.
