Send us a textWhat if marketing could be as surprising and impactful as guerrilla warfare? In this episode of The Reality of Business, Bob – an enthusiast of military history – and Jeremy share insights into the art of ambushes and raids, translating these military principles into creative marketing campaigns that surprise and engage audiences in unexpected ways. They revisit the revolutionary ideas of J. Conrad Levinson, the visionary of guerrilla marketing in the 1980s, whose concepts revolutionised the advertising industry. Think of iconic campaigns like the Marlborough Man for Marlboro cigarettes and Tony the Tiger for Kellogg's Frosties – they're proof of how unconventional tactics can leave a lasting impact.Fast forward to today, where bold ideas drive the digital landscape. Remember the BBC's Dracula campaign or 3M's security glass challenge? These viral campaigns didn't just grab attention; they showcased the immense potential of guerrilla marketing. In this episode, we'll also explore lessons from The Drum (publisher for the marketing and media industries), the role of soundtracks in branding, and the Fearless Girl/Wall Street Bull stunt in New York that sparked powerful conversations about gender diversity. Whether you're a seasoned marketer or simply fascinated by unconventional strategies, this episode is packed with insights to inspire your next unforgettable campaign. For more info, free resources, useful content & our blog posts, please visit realitytraining.com.Reality Training - Selling Certainty

Then, could you make and live in a real gingerbread house? And finally, what obscure media would we turn into a Hallmark ornament? Also, do we even know any media that's particularly obscure? IndyCar Sunday Iowa Winner Will Power returned to The Freak Nation Sunday night a couple hours after his victory on the racetrack. Power is a Friend of The Freaks in addition to being a two-time IndyCar champion in 2014 and 2022 and the 2018 Indy 500 winner. Power held off points leader Alex Palou in the final laps after the last pit stops to get the victory. Power was drained and dehydrated after the win. Listen...
Today, I have been GRIPPED by the urge to talk about cereal. Coincidentally, cereal is the focus of one of the films we review (it's not a coincidence). In an attempt to curb option paralysis, I am gustatorially unadventurous. But when I consider the myriad cereals on supermarket shelves, I can with confidence claim to have sampled the vast majority. Lit and watered by its nostalgic roots, cereal outgrows its edi-bedfellows. I han't and won't nibble upon such transatlantications as Count Chocula and the Froot Loop. Some of the products I soon mention will be American, but these FEEL American and a residual nationalism casts doubt upon their virtue. As red is the protagonist of the colours and the apple the principal of the fruits, the cereal Don to me will always be Coco Pops. It's been over a decade since our last acquaintance and I weep for all that is lost. It was touched by milk. So milk it too touched. Rice Krispies - the underboss, a worthy second whose wings are clipped by choclessness. Frosties - the third leg of that elementary triumvirate, Tony long since usurped by similar beasts (Crunchy Nut). METAPHOR SHIFT Corn Flakes - the granddaddy, the soggy stalwart and what a vile procession of words. Bran Flakes & Special K - the boring and fun parents, respectively, rightly concerned with the movement of one's bowels. Cheerios & Shreddies - good kids but nobody's favourites, are they? Shredded Wheat - the "different" cousin of whom we are nonetheless fond. METAPHOR SHIFT Weetabix - a wonderful teacher in the rewards of patience. Weetos - a lover whose time in one's life is certain to be short-lived. Because you love her so much. It can't be good for you. And good things like this don't last. Not for you... not for you. And Sugar Puffs - a relic of HOME, a place long gone but forever nestled behind our lives, that place we privately mourn, that pl-- I just found out that Sugar Puffs are now called Honey Monster Puffs. What the FUCKING FUCK?! They come for it all, don't they? METAPHOR COLLAPSE I'm hobbled by the character limit but believe me, I have more to say. On this ep, Jordan and I discuss ERIC, UNFROSTED and uvvers.
They get back to the schedule talk, do more Ws and Ls, and break down what impact Nick Sirianni has on this team, and how their lack in faith in him forced them to predict fewer wins. They also debate if dipping fries in Frosties is normal
To round out the show the crew rounds out the show talking some NCAA Tournament, Wendys' Frosties and the Dallas Cowboys. A titan of hip hop joins Chris on the podcast this week – Eggsy from Goldie Lookin Chain! With a 20 year career with GLC under his belt, Eggsy has plenty of worst time tales to share, including being stuck on bus in Germany when a terrible sickness struck, a mystery gifted cake resulting in the group being under the influence on live TV with Russell Brand & Carl Barrett and a recent bingo show performance that ended with abuse from a girl clutching a box of Frosties. Plus he teaches Chris how to make his favourite on-the-road snack – sausage rolls in a mug. Goldie Lookin Chain are touring all over the place at the moment. Hot off the presses - it's Margaret's conversation with Angela Barnes earlier this week. Angela shares some of Margaret's worst crush excesses. Beardy nerds? Check. Comedians from the 1990s? Oh yes. Angela's crushes include Kenny Everett (note for anyone born after 1979 - he was a very funny, very gay, very rude primetime ITV family entertainer. The 80s was a different time). George Michael gets a mention, as do John Lennon, and a man who once pissed her off so badly she filled his bed with Frosties while he was on a date with someone else. It's a crushed-packed 55 minutes, that's what we're saying. Don't forget to come and join the cult Substack - we post about one thing a week, so you won't be bombarded, and it gives us another way of keeping in touch if Twitter ends up in the bin. It's looking quite likely isn't it? https://crushedbymcs.substack.com/ Quick reminder of our live gig at Machynlleth on 30th April 2023 - we would love to see you there. We got some badges made, and if that won't persuade you to make the journey to North Wales, I don't know what will. Our guest Eleanor Morton, maybe? Welcome to Season 5 of Living Well with MS, the Overcoming MS podcast where we explore all topics relating to living well with multiple sclerosis (MS). In this episode, we are sharing the highlights from our ‘Family friendly Foods' webinar with Nutritional Therapist Sam Josephs. In this episode, Sam shares how to incorporate easy, family-friendly Overcoming MS recipe ideas into your everyday life and social gatherings. This webinar was recorded in June 2022 as part of our Finding Hope with Overcoming MS webinar series. You can watch the whole webinar here or the podcast highlights on YouTube here. Keep reading for the key episode takeaways and Sam's bio. Make sure you sign up to our newsletter to hear our latest tips and news about living a full and happy life with multiple sclerosis. And if you're new to Overcoming MS, visit our introductory page to find out more about how we support people with MS. Bio: Sam Josephs believes passionately in diet and lifestyle intervention as a powerful preventative approach to all chronic health conditions, including MS. Sam's qualifications and career Since graduating from BCNH (UK College of Nutrition and Health) in 2008, Sam has been working in her North London clinic seeing clients on a 1-2-1 basis. She has also worked as a pastoral and clinical tutor for BCNH, and appears annually as a guest lecturer at both BCNH and the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, training upcoming nutritional therapy students in a variety of conditions, including MS. She has presented to many MS support groups, was an expert panelist at the MSLife Expo in 2016 and has worked as a retreat facilitator for Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis. She is a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist, a full member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and is also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) – the only register for Nutritional Therapy recognized by the Department of Health. Sam's personal life Her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002 which has shaped the direction of Sam's career and gives her the compassion and unique hands-on knowledge to support so many others with the condition. Above all else, Sam enjoys nothing more than a trip to the Farmer's Market, or a good greengrocer and is a keen and experimental cook for her family and friends. Key Takeaways: Making your own veggie burgers is easier than you think “A lot of store-bought meat substitutes contain a long list of ingredients or the cheap oils like palm oil. But they are pretty easy to make yourself. Essentially all you're doing is rinsing a can of beans, adding some dried oats, or some leftover cooked rice from the day before, or a chunk of bread which you can toast if it's maybe a bit stale and blitz it up into breadcrumbs. Maybe add an egg white, and then just put loads of herbs and seasonings and flavors in it. And if you just mix it all up together in a blender, then it will make some really nice patties.” Healthy snack dips are easy and delicious “Dips are a great thing to have in the fridge for sandwich breads, picnics, but also when the kids get home from school. Rather than KitKats and crisps, they could just grab a carrot and stick it into a nice dip. It's essentially just using a dollop of soy yogurt, either blended up with a tin of fish (smoked mackerel works really well) or a tin of beans and blitz it all up together with a handheld mixer, and presto, it's a dip!” Children take family eating habits with them into adulthood “If we make those changes, and we set them in stone at home in the family, when the kids grow up and live alone, and go off to college or get [their] first job, [they'll take those healthy habits with them.] So switch things like white bread to brown, try to switch white rice to brown or whole grain cereals, switch out from something like Frosties every day, to having porridge once a week, or a nice muesli once a week, just changing the routine [can make a difference for them].” Related Links: Listen to Sam's previous episodes of Living Well with MS: o S1 Episode 3: The OMS Diet in a Nutshell (Part 1) o S1 Episode 4: The OMS Diet in a Nutshell (Part 2) Watch the original Webinar recording here Don't miss out: Subscribe to this podcast and never miss an episode. *** CONTENT WARNING ***The shocking nature of James' murder made headlines around the world at the time, so it is a well-known case. But for those of you who have never heard, or have limited knowledge of this case, I need to make you aware that this story involves the violent death of a 2 year old child. However, even for those of you who are familiar with this story, I will warn you, that this will be extremely difficult to listen to at times, as this case involves descriptions of a graphic nature that some listeners may find distressing… it won't be for everyone, so please bear this in mind before you begin the first of this three part series. If you choose not to listen, I'll completely understand, but if you decide to listen past beyond this additional content warning, I will warn you as and when you can expect graphic descriptions to help prepare you. If you are affected by any of the content featured in this series, please don't suffer in silence. I have added some useful links and numbers for support in the episode description, or if you prefer, you can reach out to me via email – Rhiannon@truecrimebritain.comFriday the 12th of February 1993, started out as any other day for the Bulger family of Kirkby in Merseyside, England. Dad, Ralph had his breakfast as usual while Mum, Denise attempted to feed their son James. James was always a smiley and cheeky boy and breakfasts could be a challenge, while he chattered away indiscernibly about whatever took his fancy that day. But without fail James would be having Frosties, they were his favourite cereal. While most of the Frosties ended up on the floor, it was a delight to watch him attempt to prove his independence by feeding himself. Ralph finished his breakfast and Denise got James ready for the short walk around the corner to her mother's house, James's nana Eileen. Ralph was heading over to his brother in laws home that day to help with a project, while Denise and James would be running errands with her sister-in-law and niece. But what was supposed to be a simple day of chores and projects with family would become the day the Bulger's lives as they knew them ended. By that evening their precious two-year-old boy would be missing without a trace in circumstances which would come to shock the nation and indeed the world. In my final year of Primary School the whole of Year 6 worked together to create a time capsule. This was nothing new, I'm sure. No doubt that school field is now almost impossible to navigate with stepping on precious artifacts of a bygone era. But, the point is, we were attempting to put together a package that one day would be looked at by future children (probably with hover boots, and hover cars, and hover food, and hover dogs), so they could appreciate the wonderful world we lived in. My memory is a little hazy about the exact specifics of the items included, but there was definitely a Troll with bright orange hair. There was a piece of a sponge football (useful!), some braided string, a packet of pickled onion Space Raiders crisps (Best Before Date well before the capsule was due to be uncovered), and one of those bike reflectors that you got in packets of Frosties cereal. All absolutely perfect examples of early ‘90s childhood, I think you'll agree. Unfortunately, there wasn't room for everyone in Year 6 to donate an item, but because I was undoubtedly the most popular, smartest child in the school at that time I was given the opportunity to put forth an item. I was well into football by that stage, but given that someone else had already put in the quite frankly absurd and idiotic “bit of a used football” I had to think outside the box. I had the idea. Childhood was essentially pretty simple back then. Playing outside, rolling up newspapers to hit people with, and collecting football stickers. The thing was, though, that I didn't fancy giving up any of my precious swapsies collection. I did have a massive dislike of Manchester United, though, buoyed by my classmates being the worst glory supporters of all time. So, I waved goodbye to my 1993 Merlin's Premier League #56 Lee Sharpe sticker. I hope one day a child will see your face and discover how you went on to throw a BBQ for your fans, hosted at your own house. So, with that wholesome tale of a world worth preserving, welcome to the VG247 Best Games Ever Podcast, Episode 14: Best game you'd fire into space to prove the Earth isn't worth saving. That segue was so severe I'm sorry if it caused you whiplash. Please do let us know what you think of the show – and if this is your first time listening, do go back to listen to the previous episodes. If you've got suggestions for topics, we'd love to hear them. If we don't come up with some new ideas soon we'll have to create some kind of random topic generator - not a bad idea actually. “What is VG247's Best Games Ever Podcast?” you ask while wondering which football sticker you'd be willing to entomb in a time capsule. Or L.O.L. Surprise sticker, whatever the stickers you chose to collect. Anyway, this podcast, which is why you're on this page (not to run over impossible choices in your mind), is essentially a 30-minute panel show where people (me and some others on VG247) decide on the best game in a specific category. That's it. It's good. Listen to it. We've got some details on the show's content below (if you want to get a refresher before heading to the comments to make a wonderful, considered post or don't want to listen but do want to know what games we picked), so if you want to avoid spoilers, don't scroll past this warning. W A R N I N G The Best game you'd fire into space to prove the Earth isn't worth saving This is the topic of Episode fourteen of VG247's Best Games Ever Podcast. Here's a rundown of who picked what. Tom – Most Roblox games Roblox is full of mindless games that are designed to encourage in-game spending to reach an arbitrary goal. Most have little gameplay other than repeatedly pressing a button, such as Strongman Simulator. It's tedious in the extreme and an example of why we don't deserve video games. Alex – Gal Gun I'm not even embedding a video for this one. Just listen to us talk about it on the podcast and you'll understand why. If you Google it, maybe don't do it on a work computer. Connor - Detroit: Become Human Detroit: Become Human is a game that makes me very, very sad. I don't understand how Quantic Dreams keeps getting away with it. Every time they release a game, you get a visually impressive product with a few golden nuggets, just washed down with the most obnoxious writing and narrative direction in the world. But they keep coming back! Somehow dragging big names like Clancy Brown (voice of Mr Krabs) for amazing performances in so-so games. It's the perfect example of missed potential, of numerous second chances given to people who in my opinion shouldn't have them. If you shot this into space and aliens got their hands on it, they'd probably feel super disappointed at it all and drift away towards exploding suns, a comet, or a million other things more interesting. Breakfast food giant Kellogg Co. lost a legal bid to block new anti-obesity measures in England banning the promotion of sugary cereals. The U.S. company that makes Coco Pops, Frosted Flakes, Frosties and Rice Krispies had challenged the U.K. government over regulations taking effect in October restricting the promotion of foods high in fat, sugar or salt. A High Court judge rejected the company's argument that the regulations don't take into account the nutritional value of milk added to cereal. Judge Thomas Linden said that mixing a breakfast cereal that's high in sugar with milk does not change the fact that it's high in sugar. Kellogg's argument that its cereals like Crunchy Nut Clusters and Milk Chocolate Curls “somehow become healthy products if they are consumed with milk is wholly unconvincing, as the addition of milk does not alter the nutritional profile of the products themselves," the judge wrote. Under the regulations, unhealthy foods will be banned from high-profile locations in supermarkets such as checkouts, shop entrances and aisle ends. There will also be restrictions on how they're displayed in online supermarket search results. More rules taking effect next year will ban buy one, get one free offers and other multibuy promotions. Kellogg's U.K.'s managing director, Chris Silcock, said the company is disappointed but doesn't plan to appeal. “By restricting the placement of items in supermarkets, people face less choice and potentially higher prices," he said, urging the government to rethink the regulations amid a cost-of-living crisis. This article was provided by The Associated Press.
Life is busy. There isn't time to stop, reflect or even have a bowl of Frosties before recording a podcast. So Paul and Anders take some time to reflect on choices, spontenaity and the madness of the 8 hour work day. If you're about to listen to this while multitasking, maybe give yourself permission to just sit and be still for a while. Yes, we're hypocrites, pay no mind. And we have questions: - Why is freedom so frightening? - How can we find ways to express our most true selves in our work? - Does anyone like being grabbed by the balls? Nelson Peltz must love those square burgers and Frosties. Fourteen years after buying Wendy's, the activist investor has alerted federal regulators that he's interested in acquiring the burger chain again. If past is prologue, it'll likely be a rollercoaster ride for investors, staff and any other stakeholder, as this week's Restaurant Rewind podcast reports. Host and Restaurant Business Editor-at-Large Peter Romeo looks back at the war of communications that raged over about a two-year stretch, with Peltz formally rebuffed at least twice. The particulars are clearly different this time around. For one thing, Peltz already owns about 20% of Wendy's stock, or more than twice as much as he controlled back in 2008. Forcing Wendy's to make an acquisition also appears to be a possibility this time, as the podcast notes. The session also notes that Peltz lacks the sort of boardroom foil who made his last run such a grabber.
This week Amie and Natlaie discuss Wendy's Frosties, corruption, the anatomy of a zipper, what to sew a pair of bib overalls out of, doors vs. wheels as it relates to spools vs. bobbins, Wordle and a myriad of other sewing adjacent topics. There are also a bunch of non- quilting and non- sewing related topics tossed in for good measure! We made it to episode 10! And what an episode, as Rich and Kyle listen to one of the most famous albums of all time. But do they like it? Yes, yes they do. The LAVA Flow | Libertarian | Anarcho-capitalist | Voluntaryist | Agorist
What is this Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency thing you've been hearing about? Find out here. What's in the News with stories on death row, Free State Project crypto news, gun registry, taxation is theft, government cereal regulations, and Starbucks barred from closing stores. Also, a Herding Cats segment on Liberty Forum with a discount code for you, and a Statists Gonna State segment on a charity frozen by the government. This episode is brought to you by Tom Woods's Liberty Classroom, helping you to become a smarter and more informed libertarian than ever before, for just 24 cents a day. Also brought to you by NordVPN, the fastest, easiest to use service to protect your online presence that I've ever seen. WHAT'S RUSTLING MY JIMMIES Bitcoin is in the news big time right now thanks to its meteoric rise over the last couple of months. But, if you've been listening to this show for any amount of time, you know I've been recommending buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies essentially since the genesis of this show three years ago. The week I started this show, Bitcoin was at $280 per coin. Now it is sitting at nearly $16,000 per coin. This is over a 5600% increase in price in three years. And the highs we've seen very recently are even higher than that. And now, since it's big news all of a sudden, you have some libertarian podcasters acting like they know some shit about it and telling you what cryptocurrencies to buy. These same podcasters have made fun of cryptocurrencies in the past and have never owned a single cryptocurrency until this month. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. I think my crypto-cred is pretty solid. I've been telling you to invest for three years and I've been an investor, and more importantly a user, of cryptocurrencies for many years. Here in New Hampshire, crypto actually has utility in my everyday life, as you'll hear more about in the What's in the News segment later in the show. Hell, even my kids have crypto wallets where they accept crypto for their small businesses. I know many of my listeners are already on the crypto train, and I appreciate that. I've had dozens of you use my Coinbase affiliate link to get started in crypto and get a free $10 in Bitcoin for both of us. That link is at thelavaflow.com/coinbase if you're interested. Once you buy $100 in crypto through that link, we both get free money. Pretty cool. I also know that I have a lot of listeners who still aren't' into cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin yet. Well, like I have said for a long time, the best time to get into Bitcoin was in 2009. The second best time is NOW. This segment will help you with that, I hope. And, I'm more than willing to help anyone out who may have questions or need help with this if you're stuck. Also, make sure to go to thelavaflow.com/savings to check out Heleum today. WHAT'S IN THE NEWS In the state is deadly news, an Ohio man who became the third U.S. death row inmate in seven decades to survive his own execution filed a new appeal for mercy, arguing that Ohio's lethal injection protocol constitutes cruel and unusual punishment because one of its drugs may not work properly. In Free State Project crypto news, Bitcoin.com put out an article detailing six of the world's most Bitcoin-friendly neighborhoods. Number one on the list, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the home of the Free State Bitcoin Shoppe opened and run by two friends of mine, Derrick J. Freeman and Steven Zeiler. In why we don't want a gun registry news, Hawaii is one of 29 states that allow medical use of marijuana, but it is the only state that requires registration of all firearms. Now, they are using both of these laws to disarm patients who use medical marijuana for their illnesses. In the tentacled arms of the IRS news, Meghan Markle May Become a Princess by Marrying Prince Harry, but the IRS Will Want Its Share of the Royal Jewels. In ridiculous government rules news, Kellogg's has been accused of a "weasly" attempt to get around child obesity sugar rules after re-branding Frosties as an adult cereal to avoid the nanny state telling it how much sugar to use in its products. In the government owns your business news, an Indiana judge has taken an unusual step and temporarily barred Starbucks from closing 77 failing Teavana stores in Simon Property Group malls because the real estate giant was less able to handle the financial pain. HERDING CATS Boy, do I have some news for you about Liberty Forum this year! First of all, I've been asked to moderate two panels of podcasters at Liberty Forum. The first panel will be Jack Spirko from The Survival Podcast, Vin Armani from the Vin Armani show, and Lou Perez from the Unsafe Space podcast. All three of these guys are dynamic podcasters who bring a lot to the table and I expect this to be an amazing panel. The second panel I'mm be moderating will be a New Hampshire media panel with New Hampshire podcasters Brian Sovryn from Sovryn Tech, Stephanie Murphy from Sex and Science Hour, Brett Venoitte from School Sucks Podcast, and Tom Hudson from the UpRev Ninja podcast And, I have a coupon code you can use to save 10% off of your tickets! STATISTS GONNA STATE Never, ever expect the government to give a good goddamn about you trying to help others, as a Maryland church found out after they were fined $12,000 for providing shelter to homeless individuals living in the community.
