I freakin' loved recording this episode with Jonny Collins. His passion and dedication to mens' health is outstanding. As a British, Afghan War veteran and accomplished personal trainer, Jonny has carved himself out a niche with men to regain their fire. Focusing on driving up testosterone levels is crucial to ensuring his clients' success but also fixing people's mindset and habits make his program a winning combo. Becoming a dangerous man is something that has been at the top of my mind for awhile and for Jonny as well. Touching on the philosophical, we discuss the works of Jordan Peterson and how being dangerous doesn't mean being reckless and an asshole but understanding oneself as being immensely powerful and destructive if need be and to be able to control that, which is at the heart of being dangerous. You can catch Jonny and try his Barbarian Prime program here: https://www.jonnycollinsuk.com/optin He's also on the Gram at: @jonnycollinsuk And at: https://www.jonnycollinsuk.com/home-page24543871
In this guest episode, I'm joined by Dave Morrow of Hrd2Kill..Dave provides remote fitness coaching to Veterans/LEO and First Responders..This was a super fun episode to record as we both had the opportunity to talk about military life, the transitions of leaving and what it means to Dave personally helping his tribe..Available on;iTunes - https://tinyurl.com/itune-tspSpotify - https://tinyurl.com/spotify-tsp
I have a tremendous respect for the Military. Truly. Anytime you want to take an example where values of commitment, consistency and teamwork are the core elements of the job at hand - you can't leave out those individuals, men and women, whose service and sacrifice allow us the freedoms that we enjoy and oftentimes take for granted. I had to opportunity to meet and connect with my next guest, Mr Dave Morrow (M.A., BSc., BEd., CD) at a recent Rogers Small Business Centres Speaker Series event. It was my first time ever attending an actual networking event so I didn't quite know what to expect out of it but after the keynote, we got to chat up about about mutual interests. As it goes with most people I've had on this program, Dave had a really cool story to tell. From being a fifteen year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, an Afghan war veteran, to being a teacher, which also ranks one of those selfless vocations we talked about, as well as a Crossfit dad...you'd think that quite enough to talk about. But no, there's more - as the author of The Nimble Warrior, a guide serving the veteran and first-responder community towards increasing performance and reducing injury, Dave is also the host of the HRD2KILL podcast where he and an amazing array guests share their stories of mindset, grit, resilience and other essential skills for a strong way of life. Another amazing conversation which I do hope you'll enjoy.
Leadership - Every organization wants the best leaders doesn’t it? But how do most go about ensuring this is the case? I know, after 15 years in the CF as a SNR NCO and junior officer, that leaders need to to be trained and mentored continuously. I would argue that the CF produces Canada’s best leaders just based on the sheer volume of training and practice each one of us gets. This podcast is a recording of a talk I did at the annual Dominos Pizza Canada Rally where I discussed my experience as a leader in the CF and how my lessons learned could help young leaders improve their franchises.
