Long maintenance is a guarantee.  Be patient.  Remember two things.  First, the pre-patch event for 11.0 is called the Radiant Echoes and it DOES NOT LAUNCH on Tuesday. Second, Warbands launch when you log in and creating yours will take time on your first login. Preview of pre-patch – Really, the only other news worth mentioning at this moment is the rest of the pre-patch. What's yours?  Mine is being pieced together as we chat Thoughts on Renown - felt like a big burden and tell me how it is different from reputations, Derek Zoolander. If I make a Blue Steel joke in the show notes, does it ever get read? WoD and DF similarities based on comments by Denathar on his podcast Azeroth United – 2 expansions when developers were looking ahead to a game-changing next expansion, one more successful than the other Follower dungeons – all benefit, no downside, which means…wait for it…#giveusFollowerRaids   TWW Topics – 52:40 (1:00 am) Really just a rant about Pathfinder and support for “Steady Flying”   Delve Testing and Preview 1:01:54 (2:00 am) Playing beta characters is tough Hanging with Brann as your support Delves are a bit of a puzzle, a series of quests, objectives, etc. as we have seen in instanced scenarios/activities before, but maybe the best version of its predecessors Has some Torghast like power-ups here and there. Brann suggests pausing to sit by the fire after combat to hear and get you well fed. There are boxes and chests with helpful gear and respawn points. Boss at the end with a treasure room full of rewards   Hearing voices and then a Remix update – 1:12:01 (3:00 am) Wait, did we make it?  Man, it felt good to buy out the mount vendor!  Also, I didn't mind running groups in MoP Remix because there is literally no interactions with others and no challenge to the content, virtually at any level.   Raid of the Month:  Mogu-Shan Vaults – 1:22:12 (4:00 am) The primary drop is the Astral Cloud Serpent mount, one of my faves and a previous target of mine.  Lorewalker Cho and some slow to come to life bosses make this a slow farm, but the mount is great if you didn't get it in MoP Remix.  And in Remix, there is an amazing golden version called the Astral Emperor's Serpent.  Go get it!   Final thoughts on Dragon Flight and the direction of WoW – 1:34:10 (5:00 am – close to dawn of a different day) DF saved WoW as Blizzard pulled itself out of a terrible place; Blizzcon 2023 ended my debate over whether to continue with the game and it resurrected Solo Queue because of the three pillars:  Delves, Warbands, and Follower Dungeons. Dragon Flight brought the story of WoW back to Azeroth and the familiar after the Shadowlands. Follower Dungeons might be one of the few features launched in WoW to have no real negative reaction, benefits for solo players, and even benefits for group players. Extend that Follower Dungeon tech to a Raid setting. Coming solo features remind me of Mage Tower in Legion, my single proudest moment (beating the Feral Druid challenge).   Idea of adding a small level of challenge to old dungeon/raid farming, but not before Follower Raids! Lastly, Warbands, the big change that arrives with pre-patch.  Denathar of Azeroth United said this is the shift from a game that recognizes what the character accomplishes to a game that recognizes what the player accomplishes.  61 characters will be in my Warband soon, all sharing their loot. PREVIOUSLY ON THE ALDONN CHRONICLES: Frankie was a simple orphan thief who never had a last name, a member of a guild that preyed on people like her, vulnerable people without anyone to look after them. They took her in, and trained her to be amazing at what she does, but they then betrayed her to the guards and had her locked away. It was in prison that she met a strong blonde man by the name of Aldonn, a man without any memory of his past. Together they escaped back to the capitol city of Capsin, where they’ve teamed up with a disgraced guard named Edward, disgraced for sleeping with the King’s daughter Princess Penelope, and they have been working with him to slowly bring down the guild that betrayed Frankie, and stop their power hungry leader Lee Durgens with a little help from Frankie’s old guildmates Richter and Sean. Meanwhile King George, ruler of Capsin and the surrounding country of Memroxia , has been getting increasingly frustrated as his kingdom has continued to stagnate. Diplomatic relations have been falling apart, and he’s decided to turn to the wisdom and guidance of the Mage Council. However, Princess Penelope believes the mages have a secret agenda of their own, and that they might not have her father’s best interests at heart. When she learned, alongside Frankie, that Lee was turning his attention to the Mage Council, they both entered the Mage Tower with warnings of an impending attack. Their warnings we’re not taken seriously, except by an apprentice named Calvin. Ordered by his master Elmeiser Ducard to watch the Princess, he instead helped Penelope shut down a sex trafficking ring involving children and love potions, rescuing prisoners that included Leah Ducard, daughter to Calvin’s master and a burgeoning mage in her own right. But while Calvin was rescuing his master’s daughter, Master Elmeiser was experimenting with a legendary amulet he’d stolen from the Thieves Guild. An Amulet that guild leader Lee Durgens wanted back. With the help of disgraced mage Dawson they have been able to infiltrate the mage tower along with his loyal sister August Durgens, his second in command Bart Napier, and a squadron of his loyal men. Together they escaped back to the capitol city of Capsin, where they’ve teamed up with a disgraced guard named Edward, disgraced for sleeping with the King’s daughter Princess Penelope, and they have been working with him to slowly bring down the guild that betrayed Frankie, and stop their power hungry leader Lee with a little help from Frankie’s old guildmates Richter and Sean. Meanwhile King George, ruler of Capsin and the surrounding country of Memroxia , has been getting increasingly frustrated as his kingdom has continued to stagnate. Diplomatic relations have been falling apart, and he’s decided to turn to the wisdom and guidance of the Mage Council. However, Princess Penelope believes the mages have a secret agenda of their own, and that they might not have her father’s best interests at heart. When she learned, alongside Frankie, that Lee was turning his attention to the Mage Council, they both entered the Mage Tower with warnings of an impending attack. Their warnings we’re not taken seriously, except by an apprentice named Calvin. Ordered by his master Elmeiser Ducard to watch the Princess, he has instead been helping Penelope shut down a sex trafficking ring involving children and love potions. The disgraced mage in on the plot managed to escape along with the location of their child prisoners. Prisoners that include Leah Ducard, daughter to Calvin’s master and a burgeoning mage in her own right. Oh and throughout all this chaos, Frankie and Edward managed to both get doused by a love potion while working a job at the docks on a mission to keep the Thieves Guild from stealing an important shipment meant for the Mage Council. Did the artifact thing Poop quest :P Still need to do the mage tower This Week in WoW Midsummer Fire Festival continues through July 5 (Thursday) This Week: Arena Skirmishes; next week, World Quest Bonus Event Darkmoon Faire starts Sunday, July 1 News Pre-expansion artifact quest in Silithus went live this week Achievement: Crucible’s Promise - upgrades your artifact from 75 to 126 Several of the Silithus quests are NOT REQUIRED to complete this (but you can’t skip the trips to Stormwind or Orgrimmar) Only the quests directly from Nolan Speed (Alliance) and Grol Warblade (Horde) are required to complete the quest line First Horde quest: motivate peons; first Alliance quest, collect Mysterious Ore by killing goblins. Horde quest turns in to Grol. Alliance has turn-in for Mysterious Ore going to a dwarf, but then return to Nolan Speed to pick the line back up. From this point on, the main line is identical, Horde or Alliance. Pick up “The Twilight Survivor” from Nolan or Grol. Ignore “Desert Research” because it’s just a breadcrumb to an unnecessary gnome or goblin line. Pick up “A Recent Arrival” to talk to Khadgar, and this leads to the end. You can skip ALL the gnome quests (Alliance) and goblin quests (Horde) and the outhouse quest and it does not affect progress. Guaranteed mount drops from mythic Argus and Gul’dan in The Nighthold will become rare drops The Chosen title (killing bosses in mythic Trial of Valor without dying) Brawler’s Guild seasonal achievements Legion Elite PvP armor sets, achievements related to the Ashran battlefield and several other Legion specific PvP achievements Mentioned Fisherfriends of the Isles isn’t going away but will be a lot easier to achieve now that there are huge groups doing it Professions Professions system is “changing dramatically” Each expansion will have its own separate skill tier level Analogy: Pandaria cooking If you have 800 skill in a profession, you’ll be at 100 skill level in each expansion’s profession tier, and will start BFA as level 1 for BFA crafting. If you have 650, for example, you will have 100 through Pandaria, then 50 for Warlords, and no Legion Also means is that if all you want to do is craft items for Battle of Azeroth, there’s nothing you have to do - you do not need to get your profession to 800 - there is no advantage because all 800 profession skill level means now is that you will have 100 level in all expansion tiers short of BFA. Everyone will start at level 1 for BFA crafting and gathering. Question: how is racial profession bonus going to figure into this? Also means if you want to change professions, it’s a great time to do it. Ian’s advice: professions “extremely optional” to level up - “don’t worry about anything other than the Mage Tower”. No specific events planned for prepatch that will boost levels the way the Legion invasions did BFA kinder to alts? Only things specifically mentioned: artifact necklace will work for all specs - no having to develop separate necklaces for tanking, DPS and healing No class legendaries
