In 2003, just days before the U.S. invaded Iraq, a US Army base in Kuwait—Camp Pennsylvania - was hit with a deadly insider attack. In this weeks Urban Valor episode, Army Sergeant Major Bart Womack recounts the terrifying night a fellow soldier threw grenades into tents full of sleeping American troops. It was the first insider attack of the Iraq War, and it came from within their own ranks. But that wasn't the only time Bart faced death. He also survived a tense firefight in the Korean DMZ, where North Korean forces opened fire on his patrol during one of the most dangerous standoffs of the Cold War era. From a DMZ shootout in Korea to a fatal betrayal in Kuwait, this is the true story of an American soldier who witnessed war before it even officially began.

Matt explores the critical link between sleep and Alzheimer's disease today, explaining how the brain's "glymphatic system" clears toxic proteins like amyloid and tau during deep sleep. He describes how insufficient sleep impairs this process, creating a vicious cycle where protein accumulation damages sleep-generating brain regions and increases dementia risk.Matt goes on to discuss groundbreaking research on a new class of sleeping pills, Dual Orexin Receptor Antagonists (DORAs), that may enhance this cleaning mechanism. While preliminary human and animal studies show these drugs can reduce toxic proteins and offer neuroprotection, the findings underscore the profound importance of prioritizing high-quality sleep as a powerful, accessible tool for ensuring long-term brain health. Please note that Matt is not a medical doctor, and none of the content in this podcast should be considered medical advice in any way, shape, or form, nor prescriptive in any way.One of this week's sponsors, LMNT, offers a science-based electrolyte drink with no sugar or artificial ingredients. America is a global leader in agriculture. Our influence has an incredibly broad reach. The problem with that is most places around the world don't have the infrastructure and supply chains to support feeding cattle like we do in America. The result is that many places around the world that have used American beef genetics (Taurus and Indicus) now routinely have 40% calf crops with most females only producing a calf every two to three years. Grant Vassberg is working to change that by finding and platforming producers in these countries that have largely stayed the course and continued to raise cattle the way their ancestors did. He does this through his company Bos Sires. He joins me again today to discuss the growth of this company since it's recent launch. Thanks to our Studio Sponsor, Understanding Ag! Here's Why. https://youtu.be/eEGENVpjj7s?si=aJrrp9c27WUT4IPn The Next News Network 2.23M subscribers 121,585 views Oct 16, 2024 The Top News Of The Day Ladies and gentlemen, what I'm about to tell you will send chills down your spine. This is Gary Franchi, and you're watching a bombshell segment from Next News Network's RAW FEED that's about to blow the lid off everything you thought you knew about government overreach. Ron Paul, the champion of liberty, has just sounded the alarm on a Department of Defense directive that could change everything. We're talking about a directive that could give the military the power to use lethal force against American citizens on American soil. This isn't science fiction, folks. It's happening right now, just weeks before the most critical election of our lifetime. The directive, DOD 5240.01, was quietly reissued on September 27, 2024. It authorizes the military to assist law enforcement agencies when "lives are in danger." But here's the kicker: it includes provisions for "responding with assets with potential for lethality" in situations where it's "reasonably foreseeable" that lethal force might be used. Let that sink in. The military can now legally kill American citizens if they deem it necessary. And who decides what's necessary? That's the million-dollar question. But it gets worse. This directive comes at a time when the media is ramping up rhetoric about potential election violence. We've got MSNBC pundits talking about Republicans potentially burning down election centers. We've got Joy Reid spewing nonsense about "fascist groundswells" and "armed resistance." It's almost as if they're setting the stage for something big. And let's not forget the timing. This directive was issued just weeks before an election that's already surrounded by controversy. Coincidence? I think not. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Gary, this sounds too outrageous to be true." But that's exactly why we need your support. The mainstream media won't touch this story with a ten-foot pole. We need your help to keep this vital information flowing. Right now, I'm asking you to make a donation to keep Next News Network on the air. Your contribution could be the difference between exposing this tyranny and letting it take root. Head to https://www.givesendgo.com/Keep-Next-... or donate via PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/donate?campaig.... Every dollar counts in this fight for the soul of our nation. But here's where it gets really interesting. Remember when Kamala Harris was talking about Trump potentially using the military against his opponents? Well, it looks like her administration just gave themselves that very power. The irony would be laughable if it weren't so terrifying. And let's not forget about the election itself. We've got 60 Minutes doing puff pieces about how long it takes to count ballots, setting the stage for delayed results. We've got terror plots being foiled. It's almost as if they're preparing us for something big. Ron Paul himself has broken down this directive, and his analysis is chilling. He points out that this isn't a law passed by Congress – it's an administrative decision made by unelected bureaucrats. It's the deep state in action, folks. But why now? Why just before the election? Some are speculating that this is preparation for potential unrest. There's talk of "civil war conditions," of the need for "bodyguards for everybody." It's as if they're expecting – or perhaps planning for – chaos. And let's not forget the broader context. We've got the Atlantic running articles about how Kamala Harris might have to "stop the steal." We've got the Lincoln Project talking about anticipating violence at polling places. It's a perfect storm of fear-mongering and preparation for authoritarian action. So here's the million-dollar question: Is this directive an isolated incident, or part of a larger pattern of government overreach? And more importantly, what can we, as citizens, do to protect our rights? That's where you come in. We need you to stay informed, stay vigilant, and spread the truth. Follow us on X, subscribe to our Rumble channel, and most importantly, keep watching Next News Network. Because in this age of government overreach, we're your last line of defense against tyranny. Remember, this isn't just about a directive. It's about the future of our democracy. And if we don't stand up now, we might not get another chance. Stay tuned, stay informed, and remember: the power still lies with the people. But only if we're brave enough to use it. Catch the whole RAW FEED live stream at https://youtube.com/live/u2LRQUCV5LE

Some aspects of ageing may be inevitable, but when it happens together with an accelerated loss of weight, muscle mass and strength it makes an older person much more susceptible to disability, poor quality of life and earlier death. The condition is called sarcopenia and it is underpinned by chronic inflammation. Diet and lifestyle changes can go a long way in preventing and treating sarcopenia and inflammation. And now research is adding to this by looking at the role of probiotics as a way to influence the gut microbiome and with that, the muscle loss and inflammation seen in sarcopenia.
