Many of us quit drinking because it's not working for us anymore. We feel depleted and deprived. Which is why periods of sobriety can feel like such a relief. When you finally break the cycle of indulgence and deprivation, your eyes are opened to how much more there is to life, to yourself and to your relationships. Once you realize that alcohol blocks the source of your own wisdom and intuition, your focus shifts to the bigger picture. Your bandwidth for greatness begins to expand. Saying “no” to a drink feels like saying “yes” to yourself. Sobriety is a personal revolution. It gives you the freedom to choose--who you are, what you want and how to move forward. After years of living under the oppressive belief that you aren't capable of controlling yourself, liberation is like a new pair of shoes...you gotta break them in. Join Mary Wagstaff and I for a gentle and enlightening conversation about how to apply the sacred gift we give ourselves...sobriety. Find Mary at on her website and Instagram. I have determined there is ONE belief that fuels our entire mindset in the western world about alcohol. It's so powerful that is has you trying to solve all of your problems and create fun with alcohol. It has you overriding your own intuition. Shaming yourself for not figuring it out. Negotiating rules with yourself to keep alcohol around for even, just one drink. It has you making yourself sick. Fighting with your partner. Waking you up at 3 am.Creating problems where there are none. Putting thoughts in other peoples head about what they think about you. Not doing your best at work. Quitting on yourself, again and again. Most importantly, it has you forgetting who you are, what matters most and what you are capable of.This ONE belief is so powerful, that even AA put it into their big blue book. They use it to help people quit drinking. It is actually the belief that keeps so many who do stop drinking in deprivation. In my experience, it's the ONE belief that is the FARTHEST from the truth. But this ONE belief is not a FACT, it's a thought. And you get to choose to believe it or not. Listen to today's podcast episode to find out what it is, what what thought you want to start believing instead. The ONE thought that has you and the western world sold on alcohol. What to do with your mind if you aren't drinking. Why constraining your attention is important. The impact of not drinking you are neglecting. How to create evidence from the end result. The crucial ingredient to change. How moderation keeps you in the same mindset that has you drinking. Why things don't seem fun without alcohol. You are ready to be happier without alcohol. Dr. Joe Dispenza says to create an emergent (new) consciousness, you have to keep your mind, body and heart on what you want to create long enough for it to become a new reality. One of the main reasons you are starting and stopping again with alcohol is because your attention isn't focused on ONE solution. My clients are getting results so quickly because week after week we focus on disproving the thoughts creating the desire to drink, amplify their meaningful why, and generate evidence that supports a new future with new emotional imprints. My invitation to you is to charge the last month of the year with focusing your attention on your relationship to alcohol based on what was presented to you over the last three episodes. About Mary Wagstaff, Holistic Alcohol Coach: As a former party girl and fitness instructor I found myself one morning on the floor of a hot yoga studio unable to finish my practice because of the fleeting night before. While I was living a life by my own design, I couldn't beat the daily overwhelm of a mind consumed by alcohol. The consequences were taking away the pleasure of all I had worked so hard for. Staring out of a foggy window, sweat from head to toe, I couldn't escape the heartache that plagued me. Enough was enough. Over the next 4 years, I turned my heart ache into a mission. I got honest, curious and with compassion, fixed each problem I thought alcohol was solving. I then helped turned the minds and hearts of other women struggling in alcohol exhaustion into Women of Self Authority, by eliminating their desire for alcohol all together as a Holistic Alcohol Coach. That's when I created the Stop Drinking and Start Living program. A holistic approach to getting alcohol out of the way so you can live your life's purpose without objection. By combining feminine wisdom, emotional processing and mental hygiene, the results are mind blowing. This model has transformed women with varying relationships to alcohol, from around the world. Turn your desire for alcohol into reawakening your desire for life. Learn more: https://marywagstaffcoach.com
Happy 4th of July!!! Now let's dig into the wound of Independence. In this episode, I speak with Mary Wagstaff, a holistic alcohol coach for Women. She is radicalizing what it means to live alcohol-free through the lens of Women's empowerment for the aquarian age. We cover a lot of territories as we discuss masculine and feminine energy and the difference between independent and individual. "Independence" belongs to the group while "individual" belongs to the (surprise) individual. So many people get caught in the story that they are independent, or that it is the goal if we want to be free. The problem with that is there is no independence for the individual. All too often individuals give up their dharma, their purpose, to follow the road of independence, which leads nowhere. As an individual, we are dependent on others, maybe not people but the earth, and animals if nothing else. We are absolutely dependent, but we can be our own individuals within that dependence. The more we flounder about trying to grasp at independence the further we may fall under the influence of that desire. Check out Mary's website here www.marywagstaffcoach.com If you are a parent or the adult child of a parent you are caring for or if you are a professional caregiver in any field, you face the very real threat of burnout nipping at your heels every day. This podcast can help you take a step back from that and get a wider perspective but working with me on a 4 session Recover Yourself package can finally put to bed any fear of burning out. Once you know how to recover yourself out of any situation, you'll begin to gain more with every little thing you give. You'll become unshakable and avoid conflict and stress without even knowing they were an option. As my work suggests I am always looking to recover myself completely and my aim is to help others recover themselves. I see a client for a total of 4 sessions which is designed to launch self-directed lives and separate us from the constant draw of codependency. This starts with my doing a portrait of my client. The portrait is an intimate experience, these open a vocabulary to trauma and are healing. This process is not for everyone and if you are not ready, I will not work with you. It is important that you are ready to step into yourself and stop playing a victim cursed by things around you. My wonderfully graceful client, Paula, learned that the only way to change, was to first admit what was wrong. Paula found herself and on the other side of the empty nest and was experiencing a transition in her purpose and identity. The emotions became easier to avoid with wine, until the wine became the real problem. Changes in life create new thoughts and new emotions, especially when those changes affect the core of who you are and how you relate to life. In essence , they trigger the fight or flight mode. The nervous system isn't regulating, hormones and chemicals are shifting and you are figuring out a new way to survive. Wine seemed like the familiar quick fix and a little pick me up to process the day to day.Until the desire for it starts to our weight the discomfort of the initial problems it was solving.Paula's couragousness to come clean to herself about the fear of changing her relationship to alcohol, was the first step. Loving herself, the second. And staying committed to a new way, the third.Hear her incredible journey and all of the stress she was able to relieve just from NOT drinking. And about the permission she was able to give herself to enjoy peace for a job well done.Thank you, Paula, you are truly amazing. xxooIn a year from now, do you want to be still thinking about drinking, or enjoying a life well lived?... But I wasn't interested in a life of labels, shaming, and deprivation. I was a health educator, yoga and fitness instructor and mindfulness coach. I love adventure, movement and LIFE! The two worlds of booze and wellness had collided and I knew where the real living was, and it wasn't in the bottle. So, I did things my own way. Hi. My name is Mary Wagstaff, and I'm a Holistic Alcohol Coach. I don't work with blame, dates or labels. And I don't work in secret. My clients aren't afraid to step out into the light and say, “Yes, I want a life that includes less alcohol, better health, more freedom and joy, without excuses.” That's because I work with empowered women, ambitious women, and women who aren't afraid to lead. My clients are business owners, creative mothers, inspired artists, community leaders: female entrepreneurs who want to live a authentic live. They're about abundance and deep connection to self, community and spirit. Not scarcity. They've simply realized that it's time to “move on” from alcohol and limiting, fear based beliefs getting in their way. If you're ready to say goodbye to alcohol and stop avoiding the desire with willpower, let's chat. Mary Wagstaff and Valerie Wilson, each owners of their own firms, are two powerhouses in the world of hospitality marketing. With decades of experience between them, host Brad Johnson dives into the reasons behind their passion for food and hospitality, how this niche of the marketing industry has changed over the last couple of decades, the meaning and fresh respect for the importance of independent restaurants and their workers, what’s necessary for the industry to grow, the need to attract talent and diversity to the hospitality industry, and what the future looks like for the industry. Mary Wagstaff is a pioneer in the world of hospitality public relations and marketing. Early in her career, Mary created a niche for herself by focusing on clients in the hospitality industry; chefs, wineries, restaurants, travel destinations, even specialty foods companies. In 1999 she opened the doors of Wagstaff Worldwide Public Relations in Los Angeles, now known as Wagstaff Marketing, an integrated public relations and marketing agency devoted to the travel and hospitality industries. Her company has grown to an enterprise with over 100 employees with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, and Vancouver, and boasts a robust roster of well-known clients and brands. Valerie Wilson, owner of Val Inc., is a Public Relations and Brand Strategy veteran with vast experience in the food, wine, hospitality and lifestyle industries. Her hospitality experience includes running the media relations for such iconic culinary marketing platforms as NYC Restaurant Week and Restaurant Day as well as the James Beard Foundation Awards. Valerie has played an instrumental role in building Harlem’s hospitality and culinary scene, raising its visibility through strategic media and branding execution. Her work has attracted top brands and personalities to her client roster like Uber and Uber Eats, Shea Moisture, The James Beard Foundation, Shake Shack, LeRone Wilson, and celebrity chef JJ Johnson. * * * Instagram Corner Table Talk and Post and Beam Hospitality LinkedIn Brad Johnson Medium Corner Table Media E.Mail brad@postandbeamhospitality.com For more information on host Brad Johnson or to join our mailing list, please visit: https://postandbeamhospitality.com/ Corner Table™ is a trademark of Post & Beam Hospitality LLC © Post & Beam Hospitality LLCSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The hospitality industry had to quickly pivot to keep afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. We saw changes in how food was prepared and packaged, how customers paid, and where they dined. However, with restaurants and businesses opening their doors once again, customers want to make some of those changes permanent. One such change was restaurants using QR codes to create contactless menus, something a lot of people want to stick around. QR code menus appear to be sticking around On this episode of the Happy Mouth podcast, chef Nyesha Arrington and restaurateur Philip Camino do a deep dive on the rise of QR codes in the industry. Philip and Nyesha talk about how QR codes have been utilized during the pandemic, the stats driving their continued use, and how the industry is adapting. Listen to Philip and Nyesha talk about QR codes: When QR codes were first developed and what they were used for initially QR codes are being used as contactless menus Molly Baz's new cookbook uses QR codes for recipes Other potential uses for QR codes in restaurants 40% of Americans want to continue using contactless options after the COVID-19 pandemic How consumer ordering habits have changed during the pandemic and the impact on menus and marketing What restaurants need to consider when designing their menus in the digital age The impact of increased mobile device usage on the dining experience Situations where QR codes make the most and least sense for restaurants Links: Happy Mouth Podcast - Instagram Molly Baz's cookbook - “Cook This Book” QSR Web - Consumers prefer mobile pay We have a lot more content coming your way! In this episode, we visit with Mary Wagstaff, a holistic alcohol coach. We explore our relationship with alcohol and how it shows up in our life. Mary gives us a new approach to empowering women and the love or hate relationship you have with alcohol. This show is not a substitute for rehabilitation, medical treatment or advise. Please talk to a health professional if alcohol consumption is a risk to your mental/physical health or others. About the Guest: Mary Wagstaff is a holistic alcohol coach for women. She is radicalizing what it means to live alcohol free through the lens of Women's empowerment for the aquarian age. Where not drinking becomes the obvious choice to seek long lasting joy and gain more access to innate super powers of emotion, humanity and divinity. She has been a student and teacher of the magical holistic and contemplative arts, resilience and mindfulness for 22 years. She ended an almost 20 year relationship to alcohol without rules, labels or ever making excuses. The framework used to dismantle alcohol is what has made her a better leader, Mother, and sacred ally to human injustices and underserved populations. It is her mission to change the stigma and narrative around addiction and mental health as something that happens to the "other". Rather, it is a human condition that will begin to change as the collective continues to evolve.
